but this people are my everything

WOW IM BACK - about fanart!

for those who don’t know i actually hit post limit trying to reblog long exposure fanart/content to a new fanblog?? post limit is like 250 i think. thats SO MUCH STUFF YOU GUYS MAKE FOR ME WTF 💕

so that poll- the popular vote was actually to “keep everything on this blog”, but reading the responses i think “make a blog for fanart” had a better argument. some people can’t blacklist the “art for me” tag for various reasons, and felt my blog was getting a little cluttered/overwhelming with all the fanwork. while on the other side’s opinion, reblogging fanart here was good because it boosted lesser-known artists work to give them (heh) exposure

so i’m gonna try for a compromise

i made a blog specifically for fanart and other fan-made long exposure content:

 @longexposurestuff

…instead of reblogging fanart here from now on, it will be reblogged there. please follow that blog to continue seeing all the amazing fanart made by really sweet artists!!!!!

HOWEVER i will continue to reblog one piece of fanwork once a week as a sort of special feature! (”fanart feature fridays” maybe??) does that sound ok?? i’ll still tag it with “art for me” and “not my art” in case anyone wants to blacklist it (unless you’re on mobile- then you’re kinda out of luck sorry..)

COOL?

Funny how when there are POC heroes people never have an issue making them half white with basically all of their culture erased, but with villains they're always pure blooded POC with an accent always speaking in a foreign language. I bet if Lance was an asshole the fandom would be like "listen Lance Espinosa is a pure blooded Cuban boy-" 😒

dude. oh my god. i never thought about that.

THIS IS SO TRUE WTF like people make villains coded as every possible POC and sometimes not even like coded, just like BLATANTLY making POC’s evil af while any “”””hero””””” character is either white af or biracial and half white and mostly white.

dude…..

Tumblr 2012: Everything online is great. Tumblr is at its prime. I haven’t slept in 18 days. My queue is full, my blog looks good, and I’ve met a ton of interesting people.

Tumblr 2017: Everything on my dash is garbage. There is nothing keeping me on here for days to find good content. SJW’s, cringeworthy tv show fans, and Buzz-howarewestillrelevant-feed are taking over.

Do you ever think people examine Shakespeare too closely? For example, reading into every line of every character, or every individual word of a sentence to gain deeper meaning, when its likely that Shakespeare himself didn't intend most of the things we attribute to him? I understand that readers give books meaning beyond what the author intended, but sometimes I feel like people take analysis way too far in a very reverent way when it comes to his writing. Do you think this is dangerous?

Do they? Sure. People do that to pretty much everything ever written. But here’s the key that makes it somewhat defensible (and I’ve addressed this in an earlier post about the idea of authorial intent, which I think you should read): Sometimes authors themselves don’t even know what they intend. Speaking as an author, there’s all kind of weird attic shit piled up in my subconscious that probably manifests itself in my writing that I don’t fully understand. True of Shakespeare also? Who knows. But here’s the other thing: What a writer wrote and how various different cultures at various different times respond to it are in some ways equally important, because how we interpret a piece of art says a lot about who we are. Criticism of Hamlet from, say, 1942 is going to be wildly different from criticism of Hamlet from last year. And those differences are hugely valuable, because they show us how culture is evolving. Food for thought.

Yo what if Keith's mom is that random Galra from the Weblum episode and when she shows up she looks at Keith and says "hope you've been taking care of my old Lion for me while I was gone"

So, I am like totally ON BOARD with Keith’s mum being the Galra side. GIVE IT TO ME. AND I LOVE THAT IDEA.

Like can you imagine how much this changes everything? Clearly Keith remembers his dad enough to have memories of him and recognize him. So what happened? Was it the single dad life for them? Did he pass and Keith move on to foster care like so many people head canon? How much did Keith know his mother, if at all?

Imagine (And I’m about to go in a totally different direction then you):

-So obviously, Keith’s dad knew and kept it from him. So likely Keith had no idea who his mother was and figured his dad just simply didn’t want to talk about it.

-But one thing that would on the occasion slip out was that his mother loved the sky, and that is why Keith was so determined to be a pilot.

-Of course, a long ways down the road, Keith is the red paladin, and has long forgotten that it’s probably pretty significant that the red lion was in Galra control

-BUT LIKE IMAGINE IF KEITH’S MOTHER WAS IN ZARKON’S ARMY. Not part of the blade of Marmora.

-And when she finds out that Keith is the red paladin, She thinks automatically that Keith will side with her and bring them the red lion. “Have you been taking care of my old lion while I was gone?”

-The betrayal Keith feels knowing that all this work he had to do to prove to the others that his Galra side wasn’t who he was and his own mother is one of Zarkon’s most trusted generals.

-It would be an all out civil war between mother and son. And the red lion would be torn between the two of them, even more so than Zarkon and Shiro because the red lion loves the both of them equally

-Keith’s mum would use him to practically wipe the floor with him. It’s painful for the others to watch, because Keith has no chance defeating her.

-But imagine that Lance does. Our resident sharpshooter. Because he knows Keith, and this woman means nothing to him as Keith does, so no love lost if he, you know, shoots her in the arm or something.

-”I mean, Keith, she is trying to take the red lion from us. What did you think I was going to do?”

-”She’s still my mother, Lance!”

Oh man, oh man, I love this idea. This is probably not what you were thinking with that episode, but I’ve gotten out of control. (And it went in like the opposite direction)

Dreamworks hire me.

Stop censoring the words people are using to blacklist, you are actually exposing people to the word/subject you think you’re protecting them from. If rape is on my blacklist and you have an in depth account of rape and you used r*pe for everything, I WILL NOW BE EXPOSED TO IT because my blacklist DIDN’T BLOCK IT because YOU CHANGED THE WORD.

I've had someone tell me "Demisexual is just 'normal,' most people won't have sex until they actually know someone," and I just ??? It's been a huge hump for me to get over that thinking that it kinda made me requestion everything about how my sexuality works. It was an incredibly invalidating moment and I'm still trying to process it. (The person apologized but they're the type to joke about sensitive topics so i just don't socialize with them much)

People who say this don’t understand how demisexuality works… “Normal” people (whatever that means) feel sexual attraction, but want to wait to have sex until they get to know the person, but demisexuals don’t feel sexual attraction to begin with (ie: they are closer to asexuals) until they get to know the person.

"Christianity is the same as Islam!" Yeah, except my boyfriend and I wouldn't be flogged and imprisoned for homosexuality if we kissed in Vatican City. I can't say the same for Mecca.

Does your husband know you have a blog and likes Jen and Josh? Not to say you're a fan, since you do not like that word...

Does your mom know you leave anonymous messages to people you don’t know?

This feels like such a judgmental ask that I want to laugh because it’s probably some 16 year old kid that things you immediately lose interest in anything fun or enjoyable when you hit 21. Which is just well, a young person state of mind.

Spoiler alert, you don’t lose interest in the things you enjoyed when you were younger. I still love the X-Files and ER and my interests have grown and expanded and if you were on tumblr at 16 you’ll probably still be on tumblr at 26 the only difference is you’ll be utterly annoyed by the young people who think they know everything and are little assholes to people who are older than them because they like fandom stuff.

So, yeah my husband knows, he likes fandom stuff too, because you know, you never stop liking stuff because you hit a certain age.

hey hey hey, so I've had this jansport backpack for a while, but I find it really small since I have to carry around several notebooks and a huge binder + my lunch and some other stuff, do you have any backpack recommendations (or at least a way to make the backpack feel bigger)?

Hi!! OK my backpack is enormous and I LOVe it because I always have so much stuff and never understand how people can fit everything into tiny little bags, but jansports are pretty standard at my school!

My backpack is an expandable backpack from the Italian company Invicta. It’s kind of similar to this model on the site! The bag is definitely on the pricier side but it’s so worth it in my opinion!! I’ve used invicta bags since first grade! I had a non-expandable backpack (with mozart on it! it was so cool tbh) from grades 1-6 (for 7-8 I used some random cheap backpack I found in my closet) and I got my current backpack in 9th grade, and i’m still using it! the straps provide so much support and I can carry TOns of stuff without my back hurting, and everything fits in without a problem. they’re super durable 10/10 would recommend

If you can’t get one of those, I’d definitely look for some kind of expandable backpack - mine has zippers on the side so that you can adjust how big the bag feels. I wouldn’t recommend messenger bags because they put too much strain on one side of your body, but a big backpack is gr8! Also if you can’t get your hands on a bigger backpack for next year or whatever you could try arranging your books by size! That’ll help distribute the weight more evenly and just keep everything organized .I like to put big notebooks/textbooks/binders in the back and work my way to the front of the main pocket, and then I put my lunch/smaller books in the smaller pocket.

Hope this helps you  ♡

How come your Daniel is bitter and 90s grunge? The last we saw him he was clubbing in the 80s and then wearing button downs with Marius. Basically I just like hearing you talk about Daniel

Ah, I saw that post yesterday, yes. Being vagued on is FUN.

See, when I wrote him dressed in the height of 90s grunge in my one AU crossover? It was an intentional choice to contrast Daniel’s adaptability to modern fashion trends with the older vampires’ relative incompetence in blending in era-to-era. (Red. Velvet. Everything. And no pants nohow.) Seriously, catch this boy on the run, staying anonymous, only 10-15 years dead? He’s a reporter. He knows how to go into communities, how to ingratiate himself to people, how to do research. Given motivation, in the 1990s, he’s going to pick a 1990s aesthetic that he can pull off relatively seamlessly with little effort.

And I think that holds true to some extent in other situations, as well. He’s going to have a bit more trouble dressing like a twinky club kid once his skin goes stark, inhuman white to the point where it’s not just fair but *unnatural.*

(Particularly in a beach vacation destination.)

Plus, it’s just… different to see a character competently adapting to clothing styles that reasonably change within their own human lifetime. I don’t dress as I did 15 years ago, there’s no reason anyone else would become disconnected from the cultural zeitgeist that quickly.

Lestat didn’t start looking like a theatrical Goth idiot until after multiple dirt naps cracked his social timeline.

As to his bitterness, Daniel has a lot to be bitter about, whether or not anyone who writes about him wants to get into it. He’s the only vampire with an intense temporal connection to the AIDS crisis. Yes, I realize it’s only a headcanon of mine that he was a victim, but it’s one that I will not relent on because it makes entirely too much sense in light of his sexual history. And whether or not he was infected, he almost certainly knew people who were. In the time before and since his turning, he’s experienced massive social changes within the spheres of existence that defined his status in life. He’s seen crises both natural and supernatural rise and fall. He was born of a human genocide into an inhuman one, and came out of both stunned and still present for arbitrary reasons, a pawn of fate despite all his determined struggles.

He’s been written off and farmed out and replaced and picked back up.

Resilience and strength don’t preclude bitterness or swearing. Sometimes bitterness and swearing are part of healing.

And I do believe Daniel needs to heal.

i talked to myself out loud while walking home from the library at 2 am drinking “antioxidant supertea” because the streets were empty and i was also trying to cry to release the pain in my chest and was like “why are you trying to cry you freak” but then was like “stop criticizing yourself for everything” and was thinkimg about my sister and my other sister and my other sister and how i cant handle knowing personal things about other people without wanting to passively kill myself because i still havent figured out that i dont and wont ever know what is best for anyone but myself

Why did Jeff asked to speak to his neighbor Pamela after he was arrested? What did he think she was going to do or say after finding out all that he did? I don't know what the purpose was there. What did he want to tell her? What do you think of this?

I believe he requested her presence because he felt that they were friends, or at least on friendly enough terms, and he felt embarrassed/ashamed of betraying her trust. They would occasionally hang out, he had given her furniture and he had shared beers and some lengthy small talk with her husband - one of few innocent encounters he had shared with other people in that apartment. I just think it was just a desperate attempt to salvage any relationship he previously had, because he had so few. In my opinion, he most likely wanted to apologize to her for everything involving the apartment, knowing most likely the other tenants would suffer for his crimes (as they did, everyone was eventually relocated) and to thank her for being something like a friend to him. The conversation desired was likely just to ease his own conscious about the situation.
