“You are. That’s why all the girls love you.”

“Ah, well, none of them are as special as my home girl right here.”

“See, now you’re just being silly,” she shook her head.

“Nah, I’m not. You’re number one. Me and you? We’re down for life.”

Written for the @sterekwriters Summer Bingo Tournament. For the prompt: Swimming Lessons

Really it’s Derek’s own fault for choosing to move back into the house. Living under the same roof as his parents again is one thing, but living with his sisters is entirely another.

School being out of session means his nephews are in rare form bouncing around the house. And since he’s the only one of his siblings without a “real” job (“grad school doesn’t count, you nerd,” Cora likes to tell him), he’s usually the one stuck with babysitting duty. And he loves the boys, he does, but it’s difficult to get any work done on his thesis when cooped up inside with a couple of stir crazy eight-year-olds.

So. Community pool it is. Laura signed the boys up for swimming lessons four days a week without telling Derek until the night before their first one, but Derek doesn’t have it in him to complain too much. At least it’ll get them all out of the house for a little while, and maybe wear the boys out enough that they’ll be content to laze around in front of the TV for few hours afterwards while Derek writes.

Josh and Beck are a handful on a good day, but they seem fairly well contained now, racing each other from wall to wall across the shallow end. The instructor (“call me Stiles” he’d said at the start, which the boys had loved and Derek had scowled at) watches with a smile on his face and doesn’t bother correcting their form.

So far the guy hasn’t even gotten fully into the pool, or even taken his shirt off, just sitting on the edge with his legs kicking idly about in the water while he observes the kids. But if this is just some sort of glorified babysitting deal, Derek has absolutely zero problems with that. He brought a book with him and he knows the boys are already competent enough in the water to make lessons fairly superfluous anyway.

“Alright, high dive time!” Stiles shouts out of nowhere, and that definitely catches Derek’s attention.

anonymous asked:

It is not rocket science indeed. "If animals are not mere things" They are. "If they have moral value" They do not. End of story. I know you cannot possibly comprehend that people CAN be fully aware of how the world works just because it was news for your 18 year old sheltered, suburban, upper-middle class American self, but in the name of the remaining 99,9% of people on the planet: we know. We know about the "truths of animal farming" and we do not side with you. Try to comprehend that.

Dear Anonymous,

I fear that you have stepped inside the wrong ask box.

- I am not 18 years old.

I have found that one’s age does not usually determine a person’s intelligence… if that is what you were suggesting by that comment.

- I am not sheltered.

I have seen and experienced things you could only imagine in your wildest dreams. And I am sure you have a better understanding of other subjects than I do, but by no means does this make me sheltered.

- I do not live in a suburban area.

It could be said that I live in the inner-suburban area of London, yes, but this is no limitation. After all, I live on a council estate full of crime and do not live in a peaceful family home in the luxury of Highgate manor.

- I am not upper-middle class.

Without a doubt, I am considered one of the many in the lower class spectrum, despite living in one of the richest countries in the world. I have always believed that education is for the masses and not just for the ruling classes.

- I am not American.

I hate to break this to you, but I am in fact British. I was born in London nearly 23 years ago. I have never been to the States, but would love to visit someday… I don’t even have any American blood that I know of. I’m part Italian, Russian and Welsh. I do have family that moved to America though.

As for the rest of your message, it’s clear that your comments are based on your feelings alone and nothing else. You say that “the remaining 99.9%” of the planet who eat animal meat know about cruelty of animal farming. Well, according to a 2012 Gallup poll, the population of vegans in the world is estimated to be around 2%, up from 1.4% in 2006. And though the population of vegetarians is unclear, it’s rational to say that the percentage is much higher than 2%. Just take into consideration that roughly 55% of India is vegetarian, a country with a population of over 1 billion. Whether you like it or not, your made-up statistics are just that; made-up. Veganism and vegetarianism are growing.

For the record, animals are not things. If animals are things, then we must also be things. We are made up of the same stuff, just a different species. And animals do have moral value. They may not have moral value to someone with no humanity, but animals mean more than food to those that aren’t switching off their humanity. Animals are not property for us to mortgage or sell-off. The use of animals is a highly profitable business that is bigger than you or me. I am fighting against it, however. Though it’s true that some may know the way in which animal farming is done, it’s highly likely that some may not know the whole story. It’s not like the meat industry screams, “This juicy veal died of loneliness— half price!”

The media and marketing are hugely influential. International and large scale businesses will do whatever is necessary to make profit and protect their name, regardless of the consequence to others. They don’t give you a choice either. If you think this is untrue, they have done very well in keeping you in the dark. Again, their job is to protect the business; not you. Many foods, products, services and stories are either false or missing an important piece of information. There’s a reason I don’t watch the news much, but that’s a conversation for another time.

Well, I would like to continue this talk through Skype. My username is: dngr00l - don’t be afraid Anonymous, I genuinely want to find out your reasoning and have an intellectual, friendly debate. It would be an honour to talk to the person who is representing the animal eating community.

Ten Day Tendencies: Five - Part 2

Sorry for the long wait.

I had finished my makeup, dried my hair and decided to put some sheets on the bed and Luke still wasn’t back from the shower. By now I was bored, sat on my bed staring into space not wanting to do anything. Just as I went to go do something, my phone started to ring so I quickly grabbed it before checking who it was and answered it.

“Good morning.” A very familiar and friendly face called down the phone.

“Morning, Lil.”

“Guess what?”

“You’re engaged.” I answered, not very enthusiastically.

“Wrong. Mr. Donovan has invited my family around for dinner tonight.”

I rubbed my eye gently. “I forgot your mum worked for him too.”

She was silent for a few seconds. “You’re not going, are you?”

I bitterly laughed. “Yep.”

“Are you bringing Luke?”

I sighed. “He has to come.” I muttered.

“Holy shit. How is he about it?”

“Not happy.”

“Don’t blame him.”

“Me neither.”

“Evan’s coming along.”

“I’ll tell Luke when I see him.”

“Why? Where is he?”

“He got in the shower forty minutes ago.”

“He’s been in there all that time?”

“No idea.”

“How can you- Evan stop, I’m ticklish there.” She giggle.

With that she rang off. I pulled a face as I checked the phone but saw nothing that suggested she would call me back so I dropped my phone onto the bed and looked around my room for something to do. I didn’t see Luke lean up against the doorway and watch me unhappily until he cleared his throat causing me to immediately divert my vision to him. I gave him a small smile as he sunk his hands into his back pockets.

I shook my head. “It’s alright.”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“You know I didn’t mean it, right? About our relationship being stupid.”

He tilted his head to the side. “I overreacted completely.” He said as he joined me on the bed. “Please, just don’t hate me.”

“I don’t hate you, you idiot.” I said as I played with my hands. “I couldn’t.” I mumbled

“I honestly don’t know why I said any other girl would take me there to spite her ex cos’ that’s just- it’s not right.”

“I’m sorry I called you an asshole.” I said with a guilty smirk.

Luke smiled and shook his head. “I deserved it.” He said then fumbled with his flannel button. “When you said you loved me, as in not anymore, did you mean it?”

“Of course not, Luke.” I said softly.

“Good…because I still love you.”

I smiled. “I love you, too.”

Before Luke could talk I pressed my finger to his lips. “I don’t want you to think that I still like Tyler because in all honesty I rather punch him than sit and eat a meal with him so just take that into consideration before you get upset when he say’s stuff because I will always choose you over him. Every. Single. Time.”

Luke was beaming as he fell back onto the pillows on my bed. “Lay with me.”

I layed down next to him and he pulled me closer. My head rested on his chest and I had one leg placed over his.

“I’m sorry I took it out on you. It’s just your dad told me that you had to go otherwise his boss would get pissy because of Tyler being his son and I felt so helpless. I felt like I couldn’t protect you from Tyler and when I was in the shower I just thought that I’m going back in a few days and I don’t want us to be in an argument because I want to savour every last second with you, even if that meant Tyler being in a couple of them too.” He announced.

“Sing.” I mumbled.

“Like… now?”

I chuckled. “No. Next year.” I said sarcastically.

He laughed. “What song?”

After a couple of seconds Luke started singing as I closed my eyes and snuggled into him. He ran his fingers through my hair as he sang every note perfectly.

Miserable At Best - Mayday Parade

When Luke stopped I smiled and ran circles on his heart. “That was perfect.”

“Like you.” He replied as his face turned scarlet from my compliment.

“I didn’t know you liked Mayday Parade.”

“Not as much as I like you.”

I laughed. “Smooth.”

“Not as smooth as your butt.”

“Wow. Another cheesy pick-up line.”

“You ruined it.”

I hit his chest. “Shut up.”

Luke pulled me on top of him so I was straddling his legs. “You’re cute.”

“You’re meant to say it back.”

I scrunched up my nose. “Nah, you’re alright.”

“Is this how you want to do it?”

I pressed my ass down onto his dick. “Do what?” I asked with a smirk.

“Marcy.” Luke scolded as he held my hips.

I grinded on him a couple of times. “Lucas.”

“Fuck.” Luke mumbled and rolled us over so he was on top. He sucked and bit my neck more than usual as he made his way to my collarbone then back up to my earlobe. “I’m going to let Tyler know that you’re mine.”

I smirked. “Go ahead.”

He switched to the other side of my neck and did the same. After, he pulled my top over my head and licked his lips as he removed me of my bra then sucked and licked my nipple. I moaned and ran my fingers through his hair at the feeling so he switched to the other nipple doing the same thing.

“T-shirt. Off.” I breathlessly demanded,

He smirked then obeyed by pulling off his flannel then shirt. I ran my fingers down his stomach down to his V line then unbuttoned his jeans as he watched, eagerly. Once they were unbuttoned I grazed my hand over his clothed length making him go harder. Luke pulled down his trousers then kicked them off with his feet. He returned his attention to me and noticed I had also removed my jeans. He ran his fingers up my thigh then to my heat and rubbed it through my underwear. I rolled my head back and grabbed his arm at the much needed pleasure.

Suddenly, my dads voice bellowed up the stairs. “You two come down stairs.”

Luke and I both sighed and I rolled my eyes. “You’ve got to be serious.” I muttered as Luke crawled off of me.

We pulled on our clothes as quickly as we could and raced down the stairs to the living room where all the adults were lounging on the sofas. Lisa moved up so I could sit down while Luke slumped down into the space next to his mother.

“We’re watching a film, do you want to watch it with us?” Dad asked.

Luke looked at me practically begging for me to say no. I smirked. “Yeah, sure.”

Through out the movie I got the most annoyed looks from Luke. He kept fidgeting because he didn’t relieve himself. Every now and then I would look at him and bite my lip teasing him more.

Two and a half hours later and the movie had ended. Shawshank Redemption wasn’t my favorite but I could sit through it to see Luke suffer. It was half past 2 and the meal was due to start at five so we had to start getting ready. I ran up the stairs and Luke followed after me. He couldn’t do anything just yet because our families were behind him but when we both entered my room his lips attacked mine.

“That was a nice move, Marcy.”

“Was that my punishment?”

Luke smirked. “I think it’s only fair if you get punished too.”

I felt my heat throb at Luke’s words as he rid me of my clothes, still standing in the middle of the room. The only thing I was wearing was my underwear. He ran his hand down my spine as he made more marks on my neck. The one’s he made earlier I had to subtly hide with a cushion so no one could notice.

“If you don’t stop I’m going to have trouble covering them up.”

Luke sucked harder. “Good.” He muttered and unclasped my bra.

He stepped back to observe the view and I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. I think Luke could tell so he pulled off his flannel and top and dropped them on the floor near our feet. He then came closer to me and pecked my lips before dropping to his knees and pulling down my underwear agonizingly slow. When they reached my ankles I stepped out of them and Luke scrunched them in a ball and placed them in his pocket. I furrowed my brows at him.

“Go over to the bed.”

I walked over and seductively crawled onto the middle of the bed giving him a good view of my ass. He smirked as I sat down with my legs out in front of me as he opened my drawers and searched for something.

I watched him curiously. “Looking for something?”

He scratched the back of his head. “Do you have a tie?”

I cocked my head to the side and bit my lip. “Maybe.”

“Where is it?”

“The box where I got the pick from.”

He immediately crouched down near the box and scrambled through it. Seconds later, he pulled out a green, yellow and white school tie.

“This’ll do.”

Luke tied my hands to the bedpost and stepped back to admire his handy work. “You okay with this?”

I nodded. “I’ve done it before.”

Luke rolled his eyes and removed his trousers while I smirked for pissing him off. The more frustrated you were, the better the sex. He walked to the bottom of the bed and knelt down so his face was level with my heat. He licked his lips and glanced at me before spreading my legs apart.

“You’re so wet for me, baby girl.”

I fiddled with my restraints as he licked the slit then sucked at my clit. He brought his hand then pushed two fingers inside of me. I arched my back and whimpered at the contact as he pumped in and out of me whilst curling his fingers. He was biting on his lip ring in determination and his hair was starting to stick to his forehead. I fell back onto the bed at the pleasure as Luke added his tongue again. I looked down and him and ours eyes locked. The restraint stopped me from touching Luke and I hated it so I bucked my lips making him use his other hand to push my pelvis down.

Soon enough, there was the classic burning in my stomach building and Luke knew it. I threw my head back and arched my back and pushed my heat into Luke’s face. He fingered me faster and I tightened around his talented fingers as the knot unraveled and I moaned several times.

He licked my heat one last time then climbed onto the bed, hovering over me and gave me a cocky smile.

“You good, baby?”

I licked my lips and nodded. Luke kissed me and our lips gained a perfect rhythm as his tongue slipped into my mouth. I angrily shook my hands, moving the bed and Luke chuckled. “It’s not nice not being able to do anything about it, is it?”

I sighed. “Nope.”

Luke got up from the bed and rid himself of his trousers and boxers. I bit my lip when I saw his length and he pumped it a couple of times before crawling on top of me again. He slammed into me and I arched my back as he pushed all the way in. I desperately wanted to touch him and he knew. He started kissing my neck, then my collarbone then my lips and I kissed him back desperately. He was thrusting in and out at a fast pace but I could tell he was starting to get tired from everything that has happened today.

“Let me ride you.” I said between gasps.

Luke looked and me and started to slow down. “Are you sure?”

“Luke, we’ve done it before.”

“But that was different.”

“I don’t see how.”

“I wasn’t punishing you then.” He noted with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes. “Fine, suit yourself. I was just trying to please you, baby.”

He bit on his top lip as he processed what I said. “If you promise to kiss me in front of Tyler at the party, I might.”

I couldn’t but think Luke was getting too protective or whatever of Tyler but I went along with it anyway. “I was already planning on it.”

Hours later we were stood outside of Tyler’s house looking fancy as hell. I was wearing a short green dress with black heels and a choker. Lisa and Liz were wearing blouses and trousers while the men looked dapper in a shirt and a nice pair of trousers. Luke was wearing a white button down shirt and a leather jacket with a pair of skinny jeans and converse.

Dad rang the doorbell and chatter began in the house. Luke and I were stood behind the adults so he leaned in close to my ear and whispered. “You look amazing by the way.”

I smiled. “Luke, you’ve said that three times already.”

“I know. I’m just going to say it enough so that you believe me.”

I looked down at my feet and tapped the toes of my heels together.

“Welcome! Come on in Dan. I see you’ve brought the guests.”

I looked up to see Mr. Donovan at the door with his wife at his side. As the adults walked inside he complimented them. “Good evening, Lisa. You look stunning as usual…Wow, and you must be Liz.”

“Like really? Just stop their husbands are there asshole.” I mumbled and I heard Luke chuckle under his breath.

I walked in after Andy and I looked at Mr. Donovan to see him grinning at me instantly making me feel uncomfortable. “How are you, Marcy? I haven’t seen you in a couple of weeks.”

I smiled politely. “I’m good, thanks, Mr. Donovan.”

“Please, call me Kevin.”

I smiled again and walked over to my parents as Luke walked in. He shook Kevin’s hand and smiled. Kevin smiled back. “You must be Luke.” Before Luke could reply Kevin turned his back to him and started talking to the adults. I waited behind for him as Kevin led everyone to the ‘sitting room’ and smiled when he got to me.

“You good?”

Luke shrugged. “Yeah.”

“Don’t get worked up about it.” I told him as we entered the living room.

“What’s everyone drinking?” Kevin asked as he rubbed his hands together.

Kevin had dark hair and eyes like Tyler but looked a bit more menacing. Tyler had his mother’s soft features which made him look more attractive than any of his brothers who looked like their father. Funnily enough. I couldn’t see any of Kevin’s children anywhere so I smiled to myself on the hope that Tyler wouldn’t turn up.

Everyone told Kevin their desired drink and he left to got to the kitchen to get them. I took time to admire the house I had been in several times before. The living room was full of crisp whites and rich browns and there was an archway that opened up to the corridor by the front door which was also occupied by the stairs and led to the kitchen and bathroom, well, one of them.

Kevin’s wife came in carrying a tray with our drinks on and she handed them out to us and left to put the tray back in the kitchen.

“We’re the first one’s here.” Luke muttered then took a sip of his coke.

“We always are. Lily’s family will be here soon though so don’t worry.”

“I’m not. I’m just praying that Tyler’s not going to join us.”

I chuckled at Luke’s naive comment. “Of course he is.”

Once Lily’s family arrived with Evan we were all rushed to the dining room, leaving our empty drinking glasses in the livingroom. When I saw the idiot stood, leaning on the door frame I rolled my eyes. I walked past him and I heard him smack his lips.

“Asshole.” I muttered loud enough for him to hear.

He started walking next to me. “You love it.”

I laughed. “Sure.”

With that I walked away from him and over to Luke. I grabbed Luke’s hand and intertwined it in mine. Lily and Evan walked over while Kevin seated the adults further up the table. Lily admired my outfit. “You look hot.”

“She does.” An unwanted voice chimed in.

“Watch it, Tyler.” I retorted as he stuck his hands in his jean pockets and rocked back and forwards.

“Anyway.” Lily said as she gave Tyler a dirty look. “I’m sorry I hung up on you, my minutes ran out.”

I laughed. “Oh. I thought it was because you and Evan-”

“No! We didn’t then but we did-”

“That’s enough now, Lily.” Evan piped up with a chuckle.

“Sorry, babe.” She cooed.

“Kids, you can sit anywhere you like.” He instructed as he planted his bum on his seat. “I hope we have enough seats.” He said with a laugh to the adults.

Luke sat down next to Lily’s dad with me on his left. Lily sat next to me at the head of the table then Evan next to her on her right, followed by Tyler who sat opposite Luke and next to Andy. The table was huge a twelve seated table with fancy cream coloured swirls carved into it. After a minute of silence from our end of the table, Tyler started conversation.

“So, how is everyone?” He said happily.

We looked around the table at each other while the adults made conversation with Kevin. Evan was the first to respond to Tyler. “Good. Thanks.”

Tyler nodded then looked at me waiting for a reply. “I’m fine thanks, Tyler.” I replied with an attitude.

“Great. How about you, Luke? How’s the band?”

Luke shifted in his seat. “Me and the band are doing well.”

“How did you know he’s in a band?” I asked as I grabbed Luke’s hand under the table.

“Your friend here was on TV the other day.”

“Friend.” Lily muttered with a giggle.

I laughed at Lily’s giggling and Tyler glared at her earning a look from Evan. “Am I missing something?”

“Not really.” I replied as casual as I could.

Tyler looked around at us then sank back into his chair. Just as I turned my head towards Luke, he put his hand against my neck and pulled me into a kiss. We kept at it for a good ten seconds before our lips released each other and Luke smiled at me. I looked at Tyler and saw him glaring at us then smirked, leaning forward he placed his folded arms on the table.

“So you two are together? Not surprised. Rebounds are always fun.”

I laughed in his face. “Oh, Tyler. That’s the only decent thing about you, your sense of humour is amazing.”

His faced dropped from being defeated. Evan looked down at his lap while chuckles left his mouth making Lily hit his chest. Luke fiddled with my fingers and patted my knee when I made the remark at Tyler.

Kevin spoke up. “The food while be coming in around…” He checked his watch. “Eight or so minutes.”

We all nodded and Lily started conversation with us. “When are you going back, Luke?”

“Sunday night so I could get in Australia by Monday.”

“So you have four or five days left here, man? That’s shitty.” Evan said with a look of pity.

“I have stuff to do with the band so I need to go back. We have a couple of shows to do in the summer.”

“What’s your band called again?”

“5 Seconds Of Summer.”

“Isn’t that a movie?” Lily asked.

I gave her a look as to say ‘what are you talking about?’ and said “No. That’s 500 Days Of Summer, remember you cried.”

“Oh yeaahhh. It has the dude from 10 Things I Hate About You in it.”

“And Batman.”

“Is he Blake?” Luke quizzed.

“Yeah. In The Dark Knight Rises.”

“Awesome movie.” Evan declared.

Once again, silence filled the air at our end of the table and once again, Tyler broke it.

“Luke. Aren’t you the one who sings She Looks So Perfect?”

Luke nodded. “My band is, yeah.”

“Quite a pop-py song, don’t you think?”

“Well, not really. We’re a punk band.”

“Yeah. Sure.”

“Believe whatever but our fans know we’re a punk band.”

“Your fans probably don’t even know who Green Day are.”

I held my hands out in front of my due to confusion. “Why do you always have to have the last word Tyler? It’s pathetic. Grow the fuck up.”

Tyler took time to process my words. “Why the fuck did you go out with me if I’m so childish?”

“Because I liked you at the time. You need to get over the fact that I don’t anymore and just move on.” I hissed.

“I can’t, Marcy!” He shot back.

“And why’s that, asshole?”

He slammed his hand down on the table. “Because I still love you.”

I scowled at him. “Clearly. That’s why I walked in on you fucking another girl.”

“I was drunk and I said I was sorry!”

“Oh, fuck you, Tyler.”

“Suck my dick, Marcy.”

“Sorry. My mum always told me to keep small things away from my mouth.”

“It didn’t stop you before, did it?”

Lily rubbed her temples. “Just shut up. Both of you!”

I looked around the table to see everyone with their eyes on me. I went red partly because of how pissed I was and embarrassment. Kevin cleared his throat and drew the adults attention back to him. I saw Lisa give me a look to say ‘what’s going on?’ and I just shook my head. She didn’t need to get involved. I looked at Evan to see him laughing to himself again while Lily giggled trying to calm him down. Realising that Luke had heard all of it, I looked at him to see him staring at his empty plate.

I got no response.

Again, no response.

“What’s wrong?”

Stupid question, I know. I just needed him to talk to me. Suddenly, Luke pushed his chair out from underneath his and walked out of the room. I stood up and excused myself and left as Lily, Evan and Tyler watched. I walked through the corridor then to the living room and saw it was empty. I fiddled with my fingers to try and think of where he’d gone. Eventually, I realised he could have gone outside so I jogged to the front door and opened it to see Luke sat on the steps leading to the front garden.

I stepped out into the night air and ran my fingers across Lukes shoulder as I sat down next to him. “Luke?”

“He loves you, Marcy.” He said blankly as he played with his own fingers.

“He was lying, Luke.”

“Luke, please don’t be like this.”

He looked into my eyes. “Like what? Jealous? I’m trying not to but I’m sat across the table from your ex-boyfriend who just admitted he still loves you.” He said through gritted teeth.

“It doesn’t mean anything.”

Luke laughed. “I’m leaving in five days and there’s a good chance I’m not coming to visit you again for a while. You can easily see Tyler.” He paused for a moment and looked to the sky. “I think you should be with him instead.”

“Are you being serious?” I almost yelled. “After everything he’s done to me, you, my brother! You want to leave me so I could be with him? You selfish idiot.”

His eyes widened. “I’m trying to do what’s best for you!” He shouted.

“And you think me leaving you for him is what’s best for me?!”

“I don’t know, Marcy!”

“Yeah. You obviously don’t!” I spat. “I know why you got so angry earlier. You were scared I’d want to be with Tyler if we came here and now we are here, you’re pushing me away because you’re scared I’m going to confess my undying love for the little prick. Well, I’m not. You need to understand that I love you Luke. Let that sink in.” I said, speaking more calmly at the end.

“Just go inside.” He mumbled.

I shook my head at him. “Fine.” I muttered and walked back inside.

The rest of the first course went smoothly…joke. None of us spoke at the table when Luke came back, the only sounds you could hear were the adults talking and the sound of metal scraping against porcelain. Tyler kept glancing at me but I glared at him whenever he did and when either Lily or Evan tried making conversation, we didn’t join in. I was never like that, I always spoke no matter how upset I was but I just felt numb tonight.

My heart was hurting and I struggled to eat the lasagna because I lost my appetite. I couldn’t bare to look at Luke. I knew Tyler had hurt him and that he regretted what he said to me but I kind of hated him. He was taking it to heart all the time and he needed to stop. Now.

We were sat in silence waiting for the pudding to be brought to us when I threw my napkin onto the table. “Tyler. Come to the kitchen with me for a sec.”

He looked unsure. “Uh. Okay.”

Tyler followed me into the kitchen and I span around with my arms crossed. “You need to stop, Tyler.”

“Stop what?”

“The remarks. We’re not together anymore, Ty.”

“I know.” He said before he sighed. “I feel like he’s going to hurt you, being in a band with the groupies and shit.”

I shook my head. “That’s nothing to do with you. I’m with Luke, not you. He hates me now because you pulled the act of confessing you love me.”

“Maybe it’s for the best.” He declared and walked back into the dining room leaving me stood in the middle of the kitchen.

I rubbed my forehead and felt a soft hand touch my arm. I opened my eyes to see Lily smiling sympathetically at me. “Stupid question but are you okay?”

“I guess.”

“Evan’s talking to Luke… I feel so sorry for you.”

“Don’t. I hate it.”

“I can’t help but feel bad for Tyler.”

I scrunched up my nose slightly. “Why?”

“Oh, come on. If you saw Luke bring his new girlfriend to your house you would be upset to say the least.”

“Tyler feeds off this shit.”

“Whatever you say.”

An hour later and we were walking back into my safe haven. Dad turned on the living room light so we could see where we were walking and that’s when I caught Luke staring at me as he bit his black lip ring. The adults chilled out on the sofa leaving Luke and I standing there awkwardly avoiding eye contact.

“You two go upstairs. Us time now.” Lisa declared and of course we obeyed.

I walked behind Luke and climbed the stairs to my room with my arms folded. When we both entered my room he turned to face me. “I think we should just be friends.”

I looked down at the floor then to him. “Why?”

“It’s just easier.”

“Why are you being like this?”

“Because if I push you away, you’ll hate me and it’ll be easier.” He said, unflustered.

I rolled my eyes. “I wish I could hate you, Luke. It would be easier but it’s not so you’re killing me.”

“When we met, I fell in love Marcy and I could tell you did too because as soon as I looked at you, you smiled.”

“What does that have to do with any of this?”

“You’re not smiling anymore, Marcy.”

“I was smiling earlier, when we were happy.”

“No you weren’t.”

I sat down on the bed and pulled off my shoes. “If you want to be friends, that’s fine. I can handle that but if you start to miss me, don’t count on me because I’m not listening anymore.”

“I am sorry.” He confessed as he kicked off his shoes.

“Yeah. Me too.”

By eleven Luke and I were laying in our own beds. I was curled up in mine and he was laying on his back on his airbed. I watched him and caught him shiver a couple of times. I crawled out of bed and walked over to Reece’s empty bed and pulled his two blankets from the bed and threw them at Luke. He mumbled a thank you and turned so he was facing away from me.

“Marcy?” He whispered an hour later.

“I don’t want things to be awkward between the two of us.”

“Too late now, Luke.”

“Oh.” He mumbled and once again the room was empty. Silent. Cold. Numb.

Decimation's and Apologies (No Type Chapter Two)
