  • well, better than woojin until he decided to give you an unexpected call a year later…
  • “y/n, i know you’re there.”
  • you didn’t answer because you were on the verge of crying
  • “i long for you everyday, y/n.”
  • “i know i’m late.”
  • “please come back to me as if nothing happened, baby.”
  • “i was a fool.”
  • by those words, you were already crying a river but the crying sound wasn’t there
  • you were so mad at woojin
  • for an entire year, you guys didn’t talk and he’s here expecting you to just take him back!?
  • no matter how much you loved that boy, you were no easy girl
  • “fuck you, park woojin,” you said in a gentle tone
  • it was the only reply you could think off at the moment
  • with that, you end the call and continued to sob heavily
  • while woojin, he was just as upset
  • but he was thankful that he got to hear your voice
  • your gentle and calm voice
  • even if it was swear, he was happy
  • because he knew that it was his fault all of this happened
  • if he wasn’t selfish and actually treated you like before, this wouldn’t happen
  • all this wouldn’t happen
  • but, what can he do now?
  • it’s too late for a fool like him…
BVB Feiertagsmagazin w/ Erik Durm - English translation
  • Nobby: Here he is! I'm very happy you've found your way to me once again, Erik. So far you haven't won a "Goal or No Goal" game against me, that's why I'm especially happy you're here today and I hope it stays that way. Are you confident?
  • Erik: Yeah, it didn't work out the last two times but I think it's finally time that I kick your ass.
  • Nobby: I'm excited! (laughs) Have you analysed the match against Benfica, yet?
  • Erik: Yeah, we talked about it in the hotel. Obviously, we were all sad about the result. I think our approach and way of playing was very good. I think Benfica only had one shot on goal, that one header, and otherwise we didn't give them any chances. Still sucks to lose 1:0 but we're confident that we'll be able to turn things around at home in front of our fans and proceed to the quarter finals.
  • Nobby: Have you ever experienced such a match? Being so dominant?
  • Erik: I don't think so, I mean I've only been here for 3 1/2 - 4 years and I haven't experienced something like it in that way. We were clearly the dominant team, we created many chances, even top-class ones, but yeah, sometimes the ball just doesn't want to get in. Sometimes there are matches like that. Nevertheless we have created a lot of chances, which was very important for us, for the team, and like I said we'll turn things around at home.
  • Nobby: You played badly in Darmstadt and lost, you played excellently in Lisbon and lost. Which face will we see on Saturday?
  • Erik: Well, I hope the one we showed in Lisbon only this time we of course want to get 3 points, we want to win. It's important for us to continue our home run and yeah, we feel good. Of course Darmstadt was a slip-up. Unfortunately, sometimes there are such games where nothing works out and the opponents surpass themselves and that was the case in Darmstadt. But it's still our own fault as well. But I think in Lisbon we showed a reaction and I think we'll be at the top of our game against Wolfsburg. We had 4 days to take a break and...
  • Nobby: And the spirit/mood/morale is good?
  • Erik: Well, yeah after Darmstadt we all were dejected, Lisbon as well, but looking at how we played I think we can look forward to Saturday with confidence.
  • Nobby: That's what you have to keep in mind and if you play like that on Saturday we won't lose.
  • Erik: Definitely!
  • Nobby: You're up against Wolfsburg. You usually say you don't look at how the opponent is doing. But we should and have to do that: they have won 2 of their last 4 games and lost the other 2. How do you rate/judge the team at the moment?
  • Erik: It's difficult to say something about Wolfsburg. They definitely have improved during the second half of the season, they have played good games, sometimes it's a bit of a surprise/lucky bag but to be honest, I haven't watched a lot of Wolfsburg matches. I'd rather focus on our team so I think if we follow through like we want to and if we play like on Tuesday against Lisbon we will win and we don't have to talk a lot about the others, just about us and then things will work out.
  • Nobby: Erik, you're free of injuries, you're a regular in the starting XI. Apart from the two losses how much do you enjoy your current situation?
  • Erik: Of course I enjoy it a lot. It's important for every player to be free of injuries and get playing time. I get that at the moment so I'm very happy but as I said my health is currently still my main focus.
  • Nobby: (touches Erik's knee) Is everything alright?
  • Erik: Yes, everything's ok. (both laugh) And yeah our manager is satisfied with our current performance as well and of course I'm always very self-critical. Especially after Darmstadt I was very self-critical and wasn't satisfied with myself but nevertheless I'm fit, I'm healthy and I'm happy about every minute I get.
  • Nobby: Currently, you're playing in midfield as a winger. You played the same position in the U23. Do you feel comfortable there?
  • Erik: Well, the midfield postion is mainly an offensive part, I'm still also playing in the back five in the defense. We always shift around a bit which works pretty well. Obviously, Schmelle and I always have to run a lot but I think we both know how to do that. That's why this position fits us well and yeah, being involved at the front is always fun...
  • Nobby: You were a striker originally, weren't you?
  • Erik: I was originally playing as a 9 so not that much on the wings but-
  • Nobby: You know how to score goals
  • Erik: One can hardly imagine, yeah. (both laugh) I had some inhibitions when I played for the Dortmund amateurs, didn't quite work out with scoring but after that I've become a defender pretty quickly, thanks to Kloppo, but it's still a lot of fun to be able to make a difference in the offense.
  • Nobby: The Süd will be empty. That will be a weird picture for all of us, for you as well?
  • Erik: Yes definitely! I mean, the atmosphere here in our stadium is always awesome. The süd being behind us is quite impressive. Especially when we play at home they encourage us and spur us on immensely. Yeah... it's such a shame that the Süd won't be there on Saturday.
  • Nobby: When you score a goal you'll still celebrate toward the Süd...
  • Erik: Yes! (both laugh) Yeah, if I score a goal, which for me doesn't happen that often, I'll still celebrate of course.

Thanks for the review of 7x06! I have a few points - First, I know people are disappointed with D&D, but aren't we still under the impression that the endgame is what GRRM has set? So as ridiculous as this show has been, surely GRRM won't end it ridiculously? So why are fans scared? Second, I'm still trying to understand whether the lack of clarity between Jon and Dany is on purpose or accidental based on mismatched chemistry or poor acting/directing choices. I don't know what I'd prefer tbh lol

Yeah, it’s been confirmed by both GRRM and D&D that the show will end in more or less the same place as the books. I think some people worry that D&D are planning to overrule that ending or change it for their own purposes so much that it ends up unrecognizable? Which I suppose is fair, considering how dramatic the drop in quality of the show has been ever since season five, which is when they first left the books behind. On the other hand, I personally doubt that they’re going to mess with the ending too much - I suspect that they’ve actually been hitting a lot of the same plot points that GRRM will eventually give us in the books, and these storylines just seem ridiculous because D&D haven’t bothered/been able to show the logical progression of events that actually caused them. (And cutting the Aegon storyline has made a huge mess of Dany’s arc.) Though I’m admittedly racking my brain to think of how even GRRM could make this wight hunt seem logical…

Look, if you figure out what’s going on with Jon and Dany, make sure to tell me first, because I would also like to know. I don’t think it’s just poor acting, because while Harington and Clarke aren’t the show’s strongest performers, they’ve both successfully portrayed romances in previous seasons; a lack of chemistry is admittedly not something the showrunners could have planned for, but these things can usually be at least partly assuaged by smart directing and editing choices. But in my opinion, the way their relationship has been filmed has actually contributed to the weirdness of their scenes together, so I’m guessing that whatever is going on, it’s deliberate.

One explanation might just be that the showrunners want this framed as an epic, tragic romance that’s been doomed from the start for whatever reasons. Not understanding something is stressful, and when viewers are stressed they tend to expect the worst. So by keeping that thread of doubt and tension in all of their scenes together, the show might be prepping us to expect something dramatic to happen by the end of the romance, whatever that thing may be. Jon is definitely a very troubled, unemotive character with a lot of more-or-less earned repression going on, so it could be that his hard to read expressions are just showing us that he himself has ambiguous feelings over his desire for Dany; the odd staging of their scenes might similarly be a way to show Jon’s anxiety over the relationship and doubt that any romance he enters could ever last.

So, that’s one possible interpretation. The other is, of course, the ‘undercover lover’ theory. I’m not positive yet which one I think is more likely; I’ll have to wait until episode seven to decide for sure. But at the moment, I’m mostly just confused, because the lack of clarity is really quite strange - especially if this is being set up as the show’s endgame ship, tragic or not.

MBTI Types watching Sherlock The Reichenbach Fall
  • Requested by anonymous- Types watching Sherlock The Reichenbach Fall
  • *In the last fifteen minutes of the episode*
  • INFJ: Of course, Moriarty didn't have some magical code for unlocking things. It's brilliant, he knew Sherlock overlooked the human factor so he used Sherlock's weakness against him. See INTJ? You can't discredit the human factor?
  • INTJ: Yeah whatever, I'm more interested in how much planning Moriarty had to do to set this all up. Every conversation he had with Sherlock was planned to lead in the direction of the case. Amazing.
  • ENTJ: I know, why is Sherlock even the main character? Moriarty is so much cleverer than him. He set everything up so that Sherlock would be seen as a fake.
  • ESTJ: He was probably planning this from the first season. That is incredible dedication, admirable really.
  • INFP: Moriarty isn't the main character because he hurts people. Because he isn't on 'the side of the angels' like Sherlock.
  • ISTJ: See, ENTJ? Moriarty messed up and didn't realize that Sherlock could use him to call off the assassins because Good triumphs over Evil.
  • ESTP: Woah, Moriarty just killed himself to win. Now Sherlock has to kill himself. I actually kind of respect that.
  • ISFJ: But now Sherlock has to kill himself to save John, Lestrade and Mrs. Hudson. He should, terrible as it is, to save them. I'm just afraid he won't and they'll die.
  • ENFJ: Oh my god. John's showing up, and Sherlock is calling him. This is horrible. Why'd we watch this show? Turn it off, I don't want to know what happens.
  • ENTP: Shut up, ENFJ, I'm trying to figure how he's going to get out of this. He could tell them about the assassins, they could probably not get killed? Or maybe he arranged something with Molly? He said he needed her?
  • INTP: No, I don't think there's anyway out of this without consequences. As much as Sherlock pretends not to care about people he does; he's going to jump.
  • ISFP: Can you guys be quiet I'm trying to appreciate Sherlock's speech to John, its so sad that he is lying to him to keep him safe. Sherlock hates being seen as less smart then he is, this must be killing him-- Oh my god he jumped.
  • ISTP: Don't worry this show has too many followers and is way too popular to kill off their main character after the sixth episode. The writers aren't going to let all the possible money they could make with additional seasons disappear for shock value. I can bet you five dollars that by the end of the episode he'll be alive.
  • ESFP: Okay, its on. Oh look at John's face this is kind of upsetting to watch. Oh look at all the blood, doesn't look like he's alive ISTP, does it?
  • ESFJ: Now they're at his grave. I feel so bad for Mrs. Hudson, she was practically his mother. Or at least she like it. She's probably thinking about how she's going to miss all the crazy things he did. Now I really sad.
  • ENFP: What's John going to say? This must be killing him. 'Don't be dead'? How can three words tear my heart in two? *Camera zooms over to an alive Sherlock* Oh my god how????? WTF???
  • *Screen goes black, credits roll*
  • *Pandemonium ensues*
  • *ESFP hands ISTP five dollars*

Quick crack theory about the bomb behind the purple curtain and the rest of season 3 (because who doesn’t like a good crack theory now and again?).

Okay, so when the bomb is first shown it has 20 seconds remaining on it’s timer, currently from what we know, season 3 has 21 episodes, so if the bomb explodes is 20 seconds, can we expect something major to happen in episode 20 and then have episode 21 being about what happens afterwards? Maybe. (I’d be willing to guess that Riley and Lucas break up, but that’s just me…)

Digging a bit deeper into this idea, the next time we can clearly see the timer is when it says 12. Girl meets Ski Lodge 1 is the 8th episode of season 3, add 12 more episodes (or seconds), and well, you end up with the bomb exploding in episode 20, and even if the season gets extended, maybe we can expect something big in episode 20 and the rest of the season will be spent dealing with that.

Riley even says, “In five seconds your world will end and mine will begin.” What was episode 5 of season 3? Girl meets Triangle where this whole Maya became Riley idea first introduced. We were able to see just how much Maya had grown in the beginning of season 3 and then starting in episode 5 the light and dark dichotomy as well as the BMW parallels were brought back in and started to crack down on everyone (remember Triangle is the episode with the jellybean scene).

Finally the 2 second mark after Riley laughs her “evil laugh” and Maya tells Lucas, “hey smile at me exactly the same,” it took exactly 2 episodes from Triangle to get to Ski Lodge 1, in which we saw Riley pushing Maya back into her own box and getting the old Maya back (more or less). In regards to the “hey smile at me exactly the same,” well this is the episode where the triangle (that’s not a triangle) comes back into play and it is a two part arc.

This is probably far too much analysis about the bomb behind the purple curtain, but it is funny and interesting to think about. :)

Thought on Lexa’s death in one word: BULLSHIT

I’ve just seen the episode so I’m still crying and might not think straight but I’m gonna try to explain why it makes me want to punch something (or someone…). I apologize in advance for my poor English.

Lexa had MANY reasons to die. Her people turning against her for not lettting them avenge the slaughter perpetrated by the fuckers that are Arkadians, Roan beating her during their fight, another fucking plan by queen Nia etc. I would have still been sad but at least it would have make sense. Cause here it mmakes NO FUCKING SENSE AT ALL.

But you know what’s worse. The way JRoth treaded US. He was always being like the ultimate supporter of Lexa and Clexa. He DELIBERATELY leak the filming of the film to be like “Hey Lexa is here, you’ll see her, WE WANT YOU TO WATCH IT!” It’s total manipulation just to get more audience.

And audience from who? Queer people. He played with another minority. A lot of scenarists do that unfortunally and we’re aware of that. But we trusted him. I know a lot of us were thinking Lexa was gonna die by the beginning of the season, I did. Then we started to really have a built relationship about to characters of the LGBTQ+ community, and of course we were very happy about it. I mean it’s so rare. We had faith in someone who claimed bringing new and refreshing things to the queer community. Turns out we were wrong. And we should have seen consdering how he treated other characters. Wells and Anya’s death weren’t totally justified in my opinion and and OH they were two POC. Noot mention Gina’s death that was just here to serve man’s pain and give justification for him to turn into a complete asshole. Honestly I’m mad at myself for having not see it coming (it’s unbelievable how I choose to be blind when I love something).

And my thoughts goes to all the queer teens and older like me though (I know you are a lot) who were happy to see well treated queer characters. I mean it’s not like we can switch on tv and I have another canon and main ship being with queer characters. But I guess lesbians (paticularly but it stands for gay, trans, bi etc. not to mention that asexuals don’t seem to exist at all) are and always bitches, and never get happy, or for straight fucking men entertainments aka lesbian sex is sexy to watch. She literally died five minutes after having sex. This makes me want to vomit. Like if you wanted her to die you could have at least the decency of waiting for one more episode AND kill her in a proper way like I’ve said before. Finn had a decent death, awful but decent. His death was cruel but meaningful. Now we just have queer people who probably gave up on the idea to have one day a real meaningful proper relationship between two queer characters. And then people are wondering why a lot of fans invents non canon gay ships. Well because they never are on tv? And when they are they end up being totally bullshited????

Also there’s the “Love is weakness” thing. Let me tell you that contrary to the big shipper I am in many fandoms, in real life I’m more often like “meh love”. But I think it was important the way Clarke slowly taught Lexa that no, love is not a weakness. And we should see that on more level than just just romantic love. Platonic, and fraternal love are as important. Anyway here’s a woman teaching another woman was in my thinking even more powerful and more meaningful to a lot of people. So Lexa was finally accepting that and she was happy. And killing her is so regressive. It’s denying that message and basically saying to us that yes indeed “Love is weakness”. Sounds like the favourite line of every villains in every stories. The 100 is supposed to have grey characters, so without being on the love is strenght (when it’s straight) à la ouat we could have least have a message like “love is one of the many things that happen in life, no matter what gender, no matter what sex, no matter what kind of love.” But now we don’t even have that.

Now we have deception. Once again.

you know i’ve been thinking about the “open ending” in the finale and i’m just??? what exactly are they planning?

(basically a novel behind the read more, don’t read if you don’t want to be seeing some discussion regarding lexa)

I loved your response about why the writers canned the O/L romantic storyline. Marc has even confirmed they won't be pursuing Lauriver romantically. However, every time I hear complaints about Olicity from haters, I get worried again. Do you think the writers will ever, heaven forbid, change their mind about Olicity bc of all the hate or put Lauriver together at the end of the series in respect for the comics? I really hope not! And what do you think about the fan service/comic book argument?

Thanks! I know that you sent this forever ago and I’m shamefully only responding now, but I appreciate the sentiment! :)

Anything is possible for a show like Arrow. Back when I was a young and innocent Arrow viewer, after my marathon of the first two seasons but before I had experienced any of the fandom or media surrounding the show, I swore that of course Arrow would not kill off Sara and turn Laurel into the Black Canary. It’s possible that the writers will someday be possessed by a demon of bad storytelling and decide to tinker with undoing Olicity.

That said, I really don’t see it happening. The writers have gone too far in establishing Felicity as The One for Oliver, and there’s just no room in the narrative for another do-over for the hero’s lady love. Laurel was replaceable as leading romantic lady because the writers gave up on trying to sell the relationship early enough that the characters could recover with limited angst. By having Oliver in the Season 3 premiere recall his first meeting with Felicity in Season 1 with minute detail and then quote himself from his Season 2 assertion that he couldn’t be with somebody that he really cares about, the writes made the slow-burn of Olicity canonical. With the series originally planned for five seasons and Stephen Amell only contracted for six, I can’t see Arrow doing another love interest reboot, and certainly not just because a faction of viewers protest the relationship. Hate can be frustrating and ugly and even seem to be everywhere, but what consumes dashboards and timelines and message boards does not translate to the whiteboard of the writers’ room. If Olicity is undone, it won’t be because of hate.

I also don’t see the writers deciding to put Laurel and Oliver together romantically at the end of the series just because of comics or because of their original game plan circa Season 1. Between the How I Met Your Mother series finale fiasco that is becoming the Moonlighting curse of the 21st century and how vehement Marc Guggenheim and Stephen Amell have been about Arrow being their version of the Green Arrow origin story, going back to the comics for the series finale after however many episodes that have taken the show so very far from comic roots wouldn’t make any sense. There’s not nearly enough overlap in the Venn diagram of Arrow on The CW and the Green Arrow of DC comics after three seasons for the show to be beholden to any version of the story selected from the source material.

As to the fan service argument…

…I’m so exhausted by the fan service argument that I’m just going to go ahead and quote myself from an earlier tirade against the concept:

‘In recent years, accusations of “fan service” and “pandering” have been thrown at shows that happen to take firm stances on aspects previously left ambiguous. Unsurprisingly, romances have been the most frequent target of these accusations. Love stories are big draws for most works of fiction; romance adds a touch of realism to even the most fantastical. Besides, who doesn’t enjoy seeing pretty people making out from time to time?

Accusations of fan service aren’t always entirely off-base. Dean and Castiel on Supernatural, Stiles and Derek on Teen Wolf, Katara and Zuko on Avatar: The Last Airbender…executives throw in romantic beats for no reason other than popularity among certain factions of viewers. They’re usually extraneous and harmless to the main plot. It’s a way to wink and nod at fans who found something extra to love about the show. It’s a way to tease without committing and dangle one big fat meta “maybe” at non-canon shippers.

That is fan service.

What is not fan service is the careful orchestration of a romance that has been established as the Epic Love for the protagonist on his hero’s journey. As I opined in my review of the Season 3 finale, Arrow at this point has passed the point of no return with Olicity. For an entire year, former playboy Oliver Queen was celibate and monogamous to a relationship that he thought was off the table. When his life was flashing before his eyes, the last thing that he saw was his one and only kiss with Felicity. When he found out that she was dating somebody else, he surmised that he would be dying alone. He dreamed of her every night for months. She is the only non-family member to whom he has explicitly confessed his love. He literally gave up his mission to save the city to drive off into the sunset with her.

No amount of retroactive continuity can dilute how much Oliver has come to love Felicity; it is far too late for Olicity to be dismissed as fan service, and even casual viewers who aren’t particularly invested in any particular ship would call shenanigans if Olicity is marginalized in the future after its role in Season 3. To try and reboot the main love story with any other woman would reek of fan service to the opposite extreme.

To use Star Wars as a metaphor, Oliver and Felicity are the Han Solo and Princess Leia of Arrow: unexpected, unforgettable, and powered by chemistry. Oliver and Felicity’s final kiss goodbye in Nanda Parbat even recalled Han and Leia’s epic final kiss before he was frozen in carbonite in Empire Strikes Back. Oliver and Laurel are Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia: sure, they were attracted to each other once, but romance now would be super gross in hindsight. Oliver going back to Laurel after the events of the Season 3 finale would be like Luke and Leia running off together after the end of Return of the Jedi.

It’s that gross.

If you’ve seen the original Star Wars trilogy, you know what I mean.

If you haven’t seen the original Star Wars trilogy, stop what you’re doing and watch the original Star Wars trilogy.

At the end of the day, Olicity sells. Felicity sells. Oliver smiling, being faithful, and thinking with his heart and upstairs brain sells. The media talks about it. Writers write about it. The CW advertises it. Stephen Amell spent San Diego Comic Con 2014 rhapsodizing about it. Olicity isn’t going anywhere, and any individuals who still think that the romance is fan service should really take into consideration factors of the show that extend beyond personal shipping preferences.’

Part1 I know some people don't understand or disagree with me on this, but I've always felt with certainity that Oliver's lack of compliments towards Felicity's apparence has always been deliberate and fitting. Whether it's Stephen's or the writers doing, I think Oliver may feel like these passing compliments or comments are nearly not enough, or he just can't let them out.

Part2 Nevertheless, he is incapable of hiding his appreciation and devotion from his eyes, which IMO somehow makes the reaction to Felicity’s outfits and looks much more. Doesn’t mean I’m not all for him actually voicing his admiration in s4 though.

A very interesting point, anon.

(And of course I have to ramble about it, I apologize for this randomness. Think of this as a look at what my brain is like when I’m thinking on a story: a hot mess.)

Part of the magic of Olicity was how much was said without actually vocalizing anything. They have entire conversations with their eyes alone:

(Yes, this is me using Olicity gifs that have next to nothing to do with the question. Are you arguing with me about this?)

It’s 100% more intimate and fascinating than if he did say something.

Now, why doesn’t he say anything?

Well, Oliver isn’t much for vocal appreciation when it comes to appearances, in my opinion. In fact, I would argue that outward appearances are pretty damn low on his list of things to care about. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about them, because he’s a red-blooded fella, of course he notices things, but it’s not high on his priority list. He’s learned the hard way that people aren’t what they seem on the outside.

(Also, the guy is stoic as fuck and incredibly tactile, that is predominately how he shows his appreciation - that lucky goddamn Felicity.)

I think vocalizing things when it’s not entirely necessary makes him uncomfortable. Pre-island Oliver was incredibly vocal about appearances, because it got him places and it got him things; he was also very aware of how pretty he was, to the point of being cocky. Post-island Oliver plays everything much closer to the belt - he’s very, very aware of the power of words and perception, and he’s very aware of the power of his looks and, at the same time, lack of power, depending on the situation. He’s not that guy anymore, so it’s not something he partakes in unless it’s to his advantage in some way.

I think that is why he’s so quiet about his appreciation more than anything, especially when it comes to Felicity because he’s always been incredibly upfront and honest with her. He’s not that guy anymore and he didn’t have to put on the show around her, so it wasn’t something he did (at least outwardly).

But… let’s take a gander down this road anyway, because I’ve thought about it for fanfiction reasons. Here’s my quick perception of Oliver Queen in this regard, that applies to both canon and building his character in fanfiction:

Why doesn’t he say anything?

Because the dude’s head over heels in love with this woman.

I’m gonna go ahead and have another probably unpopular opinion here. If you’re super shippy and that’s the reason you’re on tumblr, it’s highly probable that you don’t want to read this post. Just sayin’.

Look, I ship Caryl like it’s my job. I have shipped it since the moment Daryl handed Carol the pickaxe and stared in fascinated horror as she smashed the hell out of Ed’s brains. I do not ship Carol and Tobin. And wow, I’m exhausted by the number of comments I’ve gotten on various posts – comments that go something along the lines of, “Why would anyone who loves Carol want this relationship for her?” blah blah blah. Because I love her with my soul and I do not want that relationship for her. You can go back on my blog until the end of time and you will never find a single post that says Carol’s relationship with Tobin is healthy, intended to be long-term, or meant to indicate anything besides Carol’s deteriorating mental health and her unsuccessful attempts to save herself from the abyss.

I do not ship it. I just don’t.

However, I have seen some seriously disturbing posts floating about here and there over the last few weeks. I mean, the ones from Carol’s number one fandom hater honestly just make me laugh. We all know her terrifying, misogynist agenda and honestly I dismiss every word of her bs with a superior shrug, because it must truly suck to hate women that much.

But I’ve also seen several posts floating about in the tags and occasionally even on my dash, posts that lowkey (or even highkey, ugh) try to make Carol’s relationship with Tobin about Daryl, or even worse, try to suggest that Carol has done something “wrong” and Daryl has some sort of right to feel … well. What’s the word even? Judgy? Slighted? Angry? Jealous? Disappointed?

There’s just this unbelievably creepy thread of unspoken suggestion that Carol was supposed to be “saving” herself for him or something, and I find the entire conversation so upsetting.

The thing is, this isn’t Daryl’s story. It’s Carol’s. This story is about Carol. It’s about her finally smashing into the wall and discovering that she no longer has the ability to deal with everything she’s had to do since she killed Karen and David. It’s about her hitting rock bottom (good lord – hopefully) with nowhere to go but up.

The entire time that Carol’s been slowly coming apart, Daryl’s been doing his own thing, dealing with his own shit. I’m not faulting him for that – this post isn’t remotely a finger pointing post. (I can’t believe that every single member of Team Family isn’t constantly suffering from every last symptom of PTSD, tbh.)

But here’s my issue.

There is not one single moment in canon that suggests Carol “owes” Daryl a single thing in terms of romantic “fidelity.” They’re not a couple. They’re not dating. He’s never once expressed any romantic interest in her. The few times she’s flirted with him, he’s responded with embarrassment and deflection. This man has had five seasons (we’re gonna write off S1 because well, Ed just died and that’s rude) to make a move, and he hasn’t done so, despite what I see as clear signals from Carol that she’d be open to it.

Because I’m a shipper, of course I read all of this as nothing more than evidence of Daryl’s spectacular lack of knowledge regarding relationships, his probable belief that he’s not remotely good enough for her, his total lack of self confidence in this arena, and as I already mentioned, the fact that he’s dealing with many epic issues of his own.

Personally, I can’t imagine that he doesn’t know about Carol and Tobin’s relationship. This is the man who’s supposed to be one of the most observant members of Team Family, by his own description of himself. How would he not notice Carol sitting on Tobin’s porch every morning, smoking cigarettes and looking sad af? How would he not notice that she’s sleeping at Tobin’s house at night? I mean, canon may prove me wrong as we go into S7 (we all know that I’m super hesitant to make predictions about anything, so I freely admit that this is speculation and nothing more than my opinion based on the history of the characters’ behavior), but at this point that’s how I see it.

I don’t think Daryl’s jealous, or angry, or judging, or disappointed. He loves her, is the thing. Bone deep, he loves her. So at most, he’s sad that he’s not put together enough to be there for her in the way he’d probably most like to be, and also sad that she is in such a bad place that she landed herself in a relationship that could never be more than a temporary band-aid on a potentially fatal wound.

*shrugs* As I said, all of this is nothing more than my personal opinion on the situation. I’m just not here, ever, for even the suggestion of slutshaming Carol for sleeping with Tobin. And I get even more upset when people try to bring Daryl into that equation. Daryl, the man who has always (aside from a few moments in S2, shhhhhhh) unreservedly adored her with no judgment in his heart.

God, I hope S7 lets Carol heal. And of course my shippy self can’t help hoping that Daryl’s allowed to be part of that. But wow, I need these posts that suggest Carol has somehow made herself less “worthy” of his love to die in a fire. Because it’s gross, it’s misogynist, and it’s straight-up wrong.

I haven't seen any elevator fics for WA. If it suits your fancy, how about...Post-Season Finale/ It's been 5 months/ Iris has moved out of Eddie's Apartment & into her own/ she's found it difficult being around Barry bcz of guilt, grieving/ she hasn't allowed herself to be alone w/him for other reasons too/ Barry also feels immense guilt but he hasn't been able to work through it bcz Iris won't allow them to be alone 2gether/ Until the elevator at the Police Dept breaks down w/ WA inside...

“Hold the door!”

She jams the close door button repeatedly with her thumb.

The doors start to close, and Iris holds her breath, counting down the seconds until she is safe. Six, five, four, three-

A hand curves around the metal and all of the air Iris had sucked in holds in her lungs and she prays that someone else had been yelling, that she is wrong. The doors spread apart, incredibly slowly, and Barry (pretending to huff and heave as though running from where ever he was to the elevator was a feat) stills on the other side, frozen in place.

“I can just walk,” he mutters, the doors wide open, his mobile lab bag hanging off his shoulder.

Okay, under the cut is a very long story that I posted in multiple segments on facebook about my awesome (and definitely flirtatious whoops) experience with Mark Sheppard at CONjure

For some background, CONjure was the smallest and least-advertised of three conventions happening in central Florida this past weekend.
The biggest name was Mark Sheppard. The attendance of the first two days was so bad that they stopped charging admission on the third day as the con rushed to get any patrons

This is obviously from my pov and is solely my experience, not anyone else’s
I wrote it all down so I wouldn’t forget it and I’m making it public in case someone else was curious how that weekend went
