but then ended up making it worse

4

Things I love about this moment:

  • Hyde’s immediate concern for Kitty when he sees she may have gotten hurt from a prank he helped set up.
  • The fact that Hyde is the one who apologizes for all of them.
  • Kelso, Hyde, and Fez working together to try to help an “injured” Kitty
  • Red being overprotective of Kitty and yelling at the guys to get away from her because because he doesn’t want those dumbasses touching his wife even if it is to try to help her. (Red probably knows there’s a good chance they’ll end up making things worse)

Season 4, Episode 21: Prank Day

Mina: Well, what am I supposed to do, then?

Miles: I dunno. Just deal with it like the rest of us? It’s shit, but – this is what we’re stuck with.

Mina: We don’t have to be. We could do–

Miles: –do something, sure, and then you end up dead, or worse. Ain’t nothing you can do about it. Might as well accept it, and keep on going about your business like nothing’s wrong. It’s like I said, just keep your head down, and don’t make trouble.

Mina: …

Miles: Mina–

Mina: Whatever, Uncle Miles. [sigh] It was good to see you. I think I’m going to head home.

WKM - What happened?

I’m going to cover all of this mess in this post. It’s just what I think could be the truly amazing story behind this amazing video series.

There are LOTS of questions in my own head and I’m gonna try answering (hopefully) most of them! Here we go!

WHO KILLED HIM NOW?

The biggest question raised is, obviously, who killed Markiplier? From what we could gather throughout the series, demons are likely to exist in this scenario.

Even the newspaper gives a hint that the mayor might have been a “demon in disguise”. So there are spiritual, supernatural things happening here. I, for one, can not answer the biggest question out of all, how he died and who he was killed by. I can only make one assumption; here’s my theory.

We know that Mark’s body went missing at some point. Where exactly is never shown or hinted at, but I have a likely theory that Mark himself was the one to hide his own body in form of his spirit. Or just, behind all that was happening in general. However, what we do know is that Mark, I quote (Damien): “(He) trapped us here in this broken shell and we had no way out.”

It seems established that, during the time we were outside to talk to the gardener, Damien and Celine tried to reach out to Mark(’s ghost), hence she wanted to “talk to the dead”. During that time, Mark took the chance to inhabit Damien’s body and trap him inside his own, dead shell that could not be used anymore. Whilst doing so he either accidentally killed Celine by possessing her first, her not being able to hold the soul inside her body, OR Celine did not die and let Damien inside her body to save him from being thrown into the corpse, which would explain why she was red and blue in the end sequence of Chapter 3. She also appears to be having two pairs of eyes above her head at one point. Possibly a hint that she’s two in one at that point?

Either way, we know that Damien represents BLUE and Celine represents RED thanks to the ending of Chapter 4:

Which is why it could very well be that She kept Damien’s soul inside her body for a short while to save his life. And of course Damien was PISSED after that, betrayed by whom he cared for, who he fought Will for and whom he thought was a good, a childhood friend he could trust. That’s for the angry step towards us, the angry stare. He looks at us, knowingly. He chooses his victim that very moment.

We are told to run. The door closes and Celine does not come out. Her shell possibly broke and both souls were set free without a shell, or she kept it up and waited for the right moment to talk to us.

The right moment being the time Will shot us.

And here is the thing; We did NOT die. If you listen closely, you can hear a faint heartbeat in the background during this very scene. They both tell you to believe them, tell you stories to make you feel sorry for them. Which, of course, you do. Damien seems pissed and loses his temper once more, like he did with the Colonel before, and shouts angrily that Mark walks around in his body. Which is why I think that part is true. He couldn’t take his anger in. He can’t, he has a low temper, that’s just it.

But Celine reminds him that he “can’t do this right now”. Reminds us to believe them. What you’re told is that Mark trapped both of them inside his old, dead body and that they brought you there so you have a chance to survive. Damien tells you that you can’t survive on your own and Celine says she can bring you back the same way she brought you there. But what Damien says afterwards is the most important clue.

He says: “But you can’t survive on your own. You’re .. dead, after all. (…) I know this all sounds crazy. Honestly, I don’t know what the fuck is going on. But I know that I trust Celine. And if you trust us … let me in. We can fix this.”

Gathered: Damien lies to you after all this time of actually being genuine. He was betrayed by Mark, knows that you trust him, wants revenge and is angry. He lures you into a false sense of security, tells you you can fix this together. He makes you feel like a friend by telling you that he feels the same way about all of this. And then, he mentions that oh so beloved trust of his. That one thing he completely lost thanks to Mark.

Also important to note; It is ONLY DAMIEN that inhabits your body after all of this. Why is that?
Celine states that she can send “you” back, not “us”. She says “you” have a choice. And Damien ends his sentence with “let me in.” Not let us in.

You trust Damien and he tells you that it will work, he promises.

And it does work! You wake up in your own body, get up, meet the Colonel who is completely out of it by now.

He does not recognize us as a “Dark” or “Damien” because we don’t look like Damien yet and Dark doesn’t exist yet either. Damien, at this point, is inside our body and trying to take over.

We listen to what Will says and see him, in desperation and utter confusion, try to find his dear friends he lost.

Once he’s away, only THEN do we walk over to the mirror. And here is where it gets interesting.

We take Damien’s cane: Take a look at the hands.

A thin, female and young looking hand (possibly Amy wee i love her), but then something happens.

The hand changes, transforms into a different one. Into a hand similar to Damien’s. Because Damien is inhabiting your body by himself. Celine is likely still in Mark’s body or, as I mentioned earlier, never died to begin with. It’s Damien who was so fed up, he had to use you to get what he wants. And he gets it alright:

A body. A shell to use as a puppet. He transformed your body into a copy of his own. Mark likely still uses actual Damien’s body, but Damien had to make you look like him to finish this with you.

Then this happens.

And sad music plays in the background all throughout this scene and it broke my heart - but why did it break my heart? Because that right there is a representation of broken trust, my friends. Damien threw us out of the body he stole from us and trapped us either behind our screens or in that mirror (hence the weird noise light inside the crack). He used us. He manipulated us. We were his first victim.

And he feels bad about it at first. Note how Dark’s look changes after he throws us out? Because now we can see what he truly is; a broken man. He had so much trust in Mark, in us. He was a genuine, good and kind hearted man. He neglected his other friends for Mark only to then find himself betrayed by Mark or whatever he had unleashed that day. He is troubled, his emotions are a whirlwind and all the while he has to keep his anger inside. After all, Damien has a short and low temper. Guilty about what happened, he looks up at you.

Reminds himself that he has a goal now; take revenge. Looks at you now with almost disgust to make you feel even worse. This is a reflection of his own emotions that very moment. We are supposed to feel exactly what Damien felt. Betrayal, fear, loneliness. An end. The mirror itself is a genius metaphor for this.

He then leaves us. Clearly guided by rage and hatred and you can FEEL that, I get goosebumps just thinking about this. (@markiplier frickin amazing acting, dude!) Anyway, here he makes up his mind to take back control over what is rightfully his. Mark; his own body.

We are then left in darkness, questioning and clueless, sad and quite literally broken.

Dark’s origin, ladies and gentlemen.

(just my take on this. It’s probably, like, super wrong lmao also sorry for the long post ilyall)

Lets say there is a group of humans stuck in a room with no entertainment whatsoever and this for a while. So what do humans do in a situation like this? We make noise and we just don’t shut up. Whether it be talking, singing, telling jokes, stories or even worse playing games.
Sure it could begin innocently with something like I spy with my little eye…, but it soon could evolve into things like truth or dare, two truths and a lie, would you rather or never have I ever. All of these can end so badly, not to mention making the aliens question if were even sane, depending on how far these so called games go.
If we can add some physical components like dice or cards into the mix there is such a wide array of possible games that need a certain sense of logic, luck and the ability to deceive others.
And if there is enough space the humans could possibly start playing tag or hide and seek or when they’re inside and an alien comes into a game, where all humans are perched somewhere on some sort of furniture and xe ask what the humans are doing there, but the only answer they give xem are the words “the floor is lava”, so xe backs out of the room slowly leaving the humans to… whatever it is they’re doing.

Basically all of our games have something to do with learning something about each other, being able to deceive someone better or even unconsciously train our children with stuff like tag and hide and seek to be pursuit predators. If there is not a game humans will invent one or make one up and the only things you know is that the rules will be super weird and you possibly could get hurt - especially if they decide they’re putting some sort of ball or other playing equipment in the equation.
Look at all of our games on our planets and tell me that we aren’t going to be known as the weirdos you never ever want to play with, because their games sound super dangerous and at best questionably sane.

Harry read the article again. He didn’t know why he put himself through it. Rita Skeeter’s outlandish claims never failed to make him angry. And he’d already forced The Daily Prophet to run a redaction days ago.

No, he did know, actually. It was the accompanying image. The one with Draco Malfoy staring right into the camera, unblinking, a challenge in his eyes. It was familiar but at the same time nothing Harry had ever seen before (except during his many rereads of this particular paper). Malfoy had aged. Matured obviously since he was now a Ministry official. There was just something about his face. The same but different. Harry was drawn to it.

“Auror Potter."

Harry looked up to find that same face at his doorway, focusing a steely gaze on Harry. He was so shocked he forgot he was holding a cup of tea. It dropped to his desk with an embarrassing clatter, spilling its contents, all over Malfoy’s inked face.

The Malfoy at Harry’s office door – the real one – didn’t move. His eyes flickered down to Harry’s desk, watching the spill unfold passively.

Harry jumped to his feet and quickly bundled up the wet paper, throwing it face down into a waste basket at his feet. He wasn’t sure if he’d been fast enough.

He looked back up to Malfoy, searching for any sign he might have seen. Nothing. But that hardly meant much. Harry suspected Malfoy’s emotions didn’t play so obviously on his face anymore. He nodded in what he hoped was a professional courteous manner. "Dralfoy.”

Harry froze, the awful blunder hitting his ears just as it came out of his mouth. He could feel himself blushing, his palms getting clammy, his knees weak. Was simply Malfoy’s presence enough to make him come undone these days?

And just when he thought things couldn’t get worse, Harry, not quite sure how much longer he’d be able to stand for, slumped back into his seat - or at least attempted to – but misjudged the position and ended up plummeting to the floor instead.

The only saving grace – if there was any positive to the situation at all – was that at least on the floor, behind his desk, he was hidden from sight. He wondered if he crawled under his desk and stayed there, if Malfoy would get the idea and leave. Harry was seriously considering the option when Malfoy came into view again, stepping around the desk to loom over Harry.

He offered a hand. Harry gladly took it, forgetting for a moment the current predicament of said hands. And sure enough, after Malfoy helped Harry to his feet, he quickly let go and wiped his hand on his trousers.

Harry wanted to close his eyes and crawl up into a ball in the corner of the room. He never wanted to look Malfoy in the eye again. In less than a minute, he had made himself look like a complete fool. And all it took was for Malfoy to walk in the bloody room.

Malfoy cleared his throat. “I just came by to say hello. I thought it was polite given we work in the same building now. Which, of course, you already know.” His eyes darted to the waste basket. Shit.

“I had The Daily Prophet write a redaction,” Harry blurted out, as if that would help. Although at least he managed to get the words right this time.

“That was you? I should have guessed. You never miss an opportunity to save my skin.” Malfoy’s lips quirked upward for the smallest moment before his composure returned. “Well, it was nice seeing how the other side lives. I suppose I must get back to it.”

“Right,” Harry managed to nod. “I’ll get the door for you.”

They both stared at the open door.

Having already committed to the pointless task, Harry hurried forward and tripped over his own feet, falling right into Malfoy’s waiting – his reflexes were still as fast as they were in Quidditch – arms. Could Harry be more embarrassing?

Malfoy righted Harry but kept a firm grip on him – perhaps he thought Harry might slump to the floor otherwise, which was probably an accurate assumption at this stage.

There was amusement in Malfoy’s face now, a lightness in his eyes. “Are you always this clumsy, Potter, or am I special?”

“You’re special,” Harry answered quickly as he didn’t want Malfoy to think this was how all his mornings went. Although, after he realised what he’d said, he quickly tried to take it back: “No, I mean, wait, I mean, that’s not what I  -“

Malfoy took a step back, dropping his arms. “No need to be so flustered, Potter,” he interrupted. “I keep all the newspapers with your face on them too.”

Harry’s brain short-circuited. He must have stood there blinking at Malfoy for a solid five seconds before he was able to ask: “All of them?”

“Thirty-four and counting.” Malfoy winked. “You know, Potter, if you were to take me out to dinner, I’m sure the outing might be scandalous enough to make the front page. We could add to both our collections.”

“If I – you – dinner?” Harry repeated, a little discombobulated.

“Why, Potter,” Malfoy said, a cheeky smile appearing on his face, “I thought you’d never ask. I’d love to.”

Harry blinked – it was the only action he was capable of.

Malfoy laughed lightly when Harry didn’t reply. He made to exit, but paused briefly to call out over his shoulder: “I finish at six.”

Only when Malfoy was out of view did Harry let his knees give in.

I am trying to put together a Real Blog Post (working title: How Not To Ban Being Poor) about the phenomenon where well-meaning people, trying to help the poor, end up pushing them into worse situations by making moderately-bad situations illegal.

For example: a family has eight people living in one room. We ban their landlord from allowing more than two people per bedroom because of the danger to them if there were a fire; the landlord evicts them and now they are homeless and in a lot more danger.

A poor family starts an in-home daycare so that they can make rent. The three neighboring poor families send their kids so that they have reliable childcare and can go to work. The city bans working at a daycare without a college degree in a related field, because they want all children and especially poor children to have educated caretakers. The daycare shuts down, the first family gets evicted, and the parents sending their kids to the daycare have to quit their jobs because they cannot possibly afford childcare at the daycares whose employees all have degrees.

Someone is doing survival sex work. Society decides that it is terrible that anyone would be in the position of having to do survival sex work, and makes it illegal to pay money for sex. She is still doing survival sex work, except now it is illegal for her clients and she can’t advertise or vet her clients openly or legally or use services for small businesses which would be available to her if she were in a different industry.

I am extremely interested in examples of this in other situations, especially if you know about them firsthand, and I am also extremely interested in examples of cases where adding a regulation was really helpful to you despite the costs of compliance, because it got landlords to shape up/was accompanied by resources to make it easier to comply with/got you out of a bad situation.

The Kingsman never had a rule put in place about agents dating each other. At the time of the organization’s creation, they didn’t feel the need to. Becoming an agent meant making sacrifices. The unspoken assumption was that this meant giving up a chance at falling in love.

That assumption was made on the belief that falling in love with someone outside of Kingsman could only end badly. A relationship was meant to be built on the truth, and telling the truth was one of the many things an agent couldn’t afford to do. Secrecy was the most important aspect of the organization. There was also the fear that personal connections could become liabilities out in the field. What if an agent’s significant other was kidnapped and used as leverage by the enemy? Or worse, killed to exact revenge?

Love was complicated enough on its own. By adding a person’s status as a Kingsman into the mix, that equation suddenly became an unsolvable one.

Not an Anime Reference I was Expecting.

I just saw this drawing of human versions of Lapis, Peridot, and Jasper done by Rebecca Sugar and…

…huh, okay, kind of sending some mixed signals with those bottom drawings of Lapis and Peridot.

See, if you don’t know a lot of about 90’s anime (either because you weren’t born yet or aren’t a hopeless nerd) it probably just looks like ordinary kiss to you, but if you are a hopeless nerd than you’ll recognize that it’s a visual reference to the ninth episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the one were Shinji almost kisses Asuka in her sleep:

It’s pretty much shot for shot.

Of all the anime kissing scenes Ms. Sugar could have made a reference to I’m kind of surprised she picked this one because A) kissing someone in their sleep pretty creepy (and yet this is, unfortunately, not the creepiest thing Shinji has done to Asuka in her sleep) and B) Shinji ultimately ends up not kissing Asuka because right before he does she calls out to her mother in her sleep and he realizes that she (like him) is still just a kid and isn’t actually ready for a sexual relationship.

It’s not really a romantic scene, more of a “these characters are extremely messed up emotionally because of their past and aren’t in anyway capable of having a healthy romantic relationship” scene. Most of Asuka and Shinji’s relationship is like that: They’re attracted to each other, but they’re not really compatible and they constantly end up making each other miserable and getting hurt.

So, choosing to draw two characters in a situation that mimics Asuka and Shinji the way Lapis and Peridot are drawn here is an…”interesting” choice. Like, what the heck are you trying to say about these two characters and their relationship Ms. Sugar?

I dunno, I’m probably over thinking this. Rebecca Sugar was most likely just sketching while watching old Evangelion episodes and this scene came on and she decided to use it as a guide to practice drawing poses.

I guess there are worse Asuka and Shinji scenes she could have drawn those two reenacting:

Sarah Dessen Quotes for the Signs

Aries: An ending was an ending. No matter how many pages of sentences and paragraphs of great stories led up to it, it would always have the last word. (Along for the Ride)

Taurus: If you try anything, if you try to lose weight, or to improve yourself, or to love, or to make the world a better place, you have already achieved something wonderful, before you even begin. Forget failure. If things don’t work out the way you want, hold your head up high and be proud. And try again. And again. And again! (Keeping the Moon)

Gemini: But I think, personally, that it would be worse to have been alone all that time. Sure, maybe I would have protected my heart from some things, but would that really have been better? To hold myself apart because I was too scared that something might not be forever? (This Lullaby)

Cancer: I mean, it’s not surprising, really. Once you love something, you always love it in some way. You have to. It’s, like, part of you for good. (What Happened to Goodbye)

Leo: The thing is, you can’t always have the best of everything. Because for a life to be real, you need it all: good and bad, beach and concrete, the familiar and the unknown, big talkers and small towns. (The Moon and More)

Virgo: I don’t know. Just because someone’s pretty doesn’t mean she’s decent. Or vice versa. I’m not into appearances. I like flaws, I think they make things interesting. (The Truth About Forever)

Libra: It was so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth was, it shouldn’t be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It’s the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. (Along for the Ride)

Scorpio: Life is full of screwups. You’re supposed to fail sometimes. It’s a required part of the human existence. (Along for the Ride)

Sagittarius: You know, when it works, love is pretty amazing. It’s not overrated. There’s a reason for all those songs. (This Lullaby)

Capricorn: I was used to being invisible. People rarely saw me, and if they did, they never looked close. I wasn’t shiny and charming like my brother, stunning and graceful like my mother, or smart and dynamic like my friends. That’s the thing, though. You always think you want to be noticed. Until you are. (Saint Anything)

Aquarius: You only really fall apart in front of the people you know can piece you back together. (Saint Anything)

Pisces: I had this wild thought that he was the only one in all this chaos who was just like me, and that was comforting and profound all at once. (Dreamland)

you’re like vertigo (or dizziness, or nausea, or confusion)

A month into sharing a room, they’ve kind of got into the swing of living together while avoiding murdering each other.

Nursey is annoying as fuck in the general sense, but he’s a fairly decent roommate - tidy but not neurotically so, uses his earphones, and doesn’t sexile Dex, all of which make him an improvement on Troy who Dex roomed with freshman year.

It could be worse. Dex could be nursing an enormous, unrequited, painful crush on his roommate and liney which would make every second of spending time together literal torture.

Oh, wait.

His only hope is that when he finally loses it and actually kills Nursey out of savagely repressed lust it’ll be considered a justifiable homicide.

Who is he kidding. It’s going to end up on a show like Dateline, with something in the synopsis about a ‘crime of passion’. He’s fucked.

Imagine accidentally killing Lisa but later making a deal to bring her back. Dean was in the beginning furious with you but then feels guilty and devastated because he lost you. (Part 4)

Read Part 1 here! l Read Part 2 here! l  Read Part 3 here!

“I didn’t-” he started but felt the lump in his throat make it impossible to speak or breathe in the first place.

“What?” your voice was still hoarse “Didn’t mean it? Because it really sounded to me like that, Dean. You wanted a life with Lisa, a life I didn’t even exist in, and I offered it to you. And if this is now somehow a problem, don’t worry, I’ll make sure that you won’t have to face me again once the sun rises.”

“You’re going to leave.” it was a statement in a grave voice “You’re going to leave us. Me.”

“No, Dean.” you breathed out, getting up from your seat and turning to face him.

The moment you locked eyes he felt more hurt than he could ever have, and it wasn’t because you had red and glossy eyes, a tear-stained face or a look of pure hatred for him and what had happened. No it was the complete different, you almost looked indifferent for him and towards him and that hurt worse than anything. He remember when he had returned from Hell himself he had only been dreaming about running to you to find you and when he had, he had looked at you with so much love and longing. But your eyes held no emotion as they looked at him, and maybe yes you felt things for him, but you were probably hiding it real well and he couldn’t see it.

“You’ve left me.” you breathed out, taking a deep breath “You were the one that abandoned me, you let me rot down there with your last words repeating over and over again. Demons, taking turns one after the other and having the pleasure to take your face, repeating those words while torturing me. And you, Dean, you let me believe it. You didn’t just let me go through it, you also left me to be believe I never meant a thing for you or for anybody else.”

A fashion AU with a royal twist, where Louis doesn’t need a stylist, Harry’s thrilled to have a real life Barbie doll, and they’re both very wrong about each other.

This is a story about love and the power of forgiveness, and how the hard choices we make define us, and change our lives.

We are all aware of the holy trinity…You know…
Captive Prince, All for the Game, and The Song of Achilles.
And you can’t forget the honorable mentions that include The Raven Cycle, Six of Crows, Aristotle and Dante, and all the other beautifully written works that keep you up at night and own your soul for weeks after the books end…

So, what is the holy trinity equivalent for wlw books?
I need intense books full of angst and love and adventure and peril, and everything that makes the above listed books amazing.  Characters you just want to see happy and together but also overcoming their obstacles, becoming better people (or worse people, I don’t know your methods)…

I would like to nominate The Mermaids of Eriana Kwai, The Abyss Surrounds Us, and …I don’t even have a third one.

Don’t get me wrong, I love books like Annie on My Mind, Star-Crossed, Lumberjanes, and Tipping the Velvet.  But I NEED books that fit in with the mlm holy trinity.  Give me the monster-mermaids and the mermaid hunters.  Give me the pirates, give me the sea-monster trainers.  I NEED books that aren’t what you traditionally think of within the popular wlw books we see in the book community.

Devil Side-Chapter 1

Summary:After a rough mission Bucky comes home to you broken, he pulls away from you, stays out late, comes home drunk and smelling like alcohol and cheap perfume, you confront him about his behavior, Bucky reacts in a way you did not expect, and it destroys your relationship.

Warnings: Angst, Violence, language, slight abuse.

Pairings: Bucky X Reader

Word Count: 1440

You were seated on the love seat in front of the television, your slender calves tucked underneath you, a warm faux fur blanket thrown haphazardly over your small frame with hair knotted in a high bun. Your favorite fuzzy pink pajamas bringing little comfort. It was almost four am. The clock ticking menacingly on the wall reminding you that this was the third time this week Bucky had failed to come home to you. Sighing deeply, ignoring the tears pooling in your eyes, you reach for your phone, hoping he had sent a message, telling you where he was at the very least.

Swiping at the screen, the glaring emptiness of your inbox was apparent. Not a single text from your boyfriend, not a missed call, nothing. You hurl your phone at the wall, watching as it smashes to pieces, bits of plastic raining onto the carpet. Immediately regretting your fit of pique, the shame blossoming in your chest has you rubbing your tired eyes gently. You settle back into the couch, staring at the door as your hand drops to your lap, fidgeting absent mindedly with the edge of the throw.

It hasn’t always been this way. Your relationship with Bucky had been a happy one, filled with laughter and love, respect and understanding. Granted, Bucky had never been an easy man to get along with. His PTSD and survivor’s guilt had plagued him nightly, manifesting in the most garish nightmares. He would flail and scream, waking drenched in sweat, eyes wild and fists clenched. He would brood for days after an episode, refusing to touch you, sometimes moving back into the tower only to come back after a couple of days. You had accepted him as he was, loved him for his flaws, his humor, his sense of morality. Bucky Barnes was inherently good, no matter how often he claimed he was a monster, you had never believed him.

The change had started two months ago after a particularly rough mission. he wouldn’t or couldn’t give you details, but he had stared vacantly at a wall for twelve hours, sending you into a panic when you couldn’t pull him out of it. Eventually you had to call Steve who talked Bucky back into the world of the living.

You had joked that he came back just to make Steve shut up, but Bucky didn’t even attempt to smile. A small part of you knew then, just knew, you had lost him.

It got progressively worse from there. He would stay out late, come home smelling like Bourbon and perfume, the stale smell of smoke lingering on his clothes. At first you confronted him, demanded an explanation for his actions. Bucky would merely sit quietly on the couch, not answering your demands for answers, before he would rise and lock himself in the bedroom, leaving you to cry alone.

It was the beginning of the end, one night a week turned to two, then three. He would barely talk to you, wouldn’t look at you, until he barely came home at all.

Pain. It’s such a broad term. Everything from physical to mental anguish falls under the word. It conjures up cuts and bruises, heart break and illness, yet it couldn’t describe what it was you felt when Bucky started to distance himself from you. It felt like heat, hot flames licking at your insides, burning a white path to your chest. It felt like knives, deliberately pushed into a raw exposed nerve. It felt like isolation, rejection, loneliness. Somewhere in your gut you knew that it was going to come to a head, and tonight would be the determining factor in your relationship.

The soft click of the door pulls you out of your head, your eyes focusing on the figure stumbling through it, his blue eyes red rimmed. You could smell the alcohol from your seat on the couch. Cheap cigarettes and perfume waft with it making you gag. You close your eyes tightly for there was no denying it anymore. You knew what he was doing, or at least assumed. It didn’t matter either way, you needed answers, needed an explanation for the distance, for the turmoil he was causing.

“Did you have fun?” you ask softly. “Did it make you forget?”

Bucky grunts, his metal fist clenched at his side. “I’m not in the mood for this,” he answers, throwing his keys nonchalantly in the bowl by the door. “I wanna go to bed, we can talk in the morning.”

You raise an eyebrow. “It is morning, James, and there’s no time like the present,” you reply calmly, covering the hurt with a mask of neutrality. Rising to your feet and closing the distance between you, raising a hand lightly to his face, just to touch, to soothe. You needed to feel him, just once. It had been so long since his smooth skin was underneath your fingertips, but he flinches away from you, his eyes set in a cold glare, slightly glazed from the copious amounts of alcohol he had consumed. You swallow down the sob the action brings, dropping your hand limply to your side. “Please let me help you, Bucky, I can’t stand seeing you like this,” pleadingly, voice filled with emotion, you almost delude yourself into thinking his eyes soften, that his shoulders relax, but the emotion is gone before you can process it replaced by burning anger.

“You can’t help me! You are the problem!” he roars. “Leave me the fuck alone!”

Instinctively you grab his arm to pull him close, to offer comfort, your hind-brain not communicating the dangers fast enough.

Before you can process whats happening, you’re slammed into a wall, your head bouncing off of it harshly. Stars burst in front of you, a low moan of pain sounds in your chest. Your hair is suspiciously wet as Bucky’s metal fist slams repeatedly into the wall next to your face, drilling a hole in it. Chunks of plaster and chips of paint fall onto the floor while Bucky snarls viciously into your face.

Breathing rapidly, eyes wide with fear, your entire body shakes violently. You had never been afraid of him, never once had you thought he would hurt you, but you watch his eyes as he seems to come to, come back from whatever dark place he’d disappeared into.

Realisation dawns, brings revulsion at himself, his actions.  Remorse and guilt fill his face as he raises his flesh hand to your face.

You whimper and flinch away, trying to hunch in yourself as he comes closer. You hear him suck in a sharp breath before he steps away from you. You don’t dare look at him, nor do you speak.

“Baby-” he stutters, his eyes wet with tears.

Shoving from the wall, you run as fast as you can. The door of your shared apartment bounces heavily in the frame as you slam it behind you. Fear and adrenaline pushing you to run faster. Blood is dripping down your collar, staining the pink of your pajama top red. Hailing a taxi through a haze of tears and delirious rambling, you tell the driver to take you to the one man that could protect you from Bucky, or so you hoped.

Trembling noticeably, your breathing labored, the taxi speeds down the streets of New York, taking you to your former home, the one place you had always felt safe. To your team, your family.

You needed to get to Steve.

The cab screeches to a halt in front of Stark Tower, and you clamber out unsteadily, tossing the driving a twenty in your haste. It’s started to rain, the heavy droplets soaking you to the bone in mere seconds. You bite down on your lip softly, the realisation suddenly hitting you that you couldn’t tell Steve what had happened with Bucky settles uneasily in your stomach.

Bucky was on temoultus ground as it was. Ripping Steve away from him would have severe consequences. He may even revert back to the Winter Soldier. No matter what he’d done, you couldn’t be responsible for that.

Sinking slowly to your knees on the curb, your body racked with silent tears, you decide not to tell Steve, but you couldn’t go home. You were stuck and alone.

You stay that way for what feels like an eternity before steadily rising to your feet. tucking a wet strand of hair behind your ear, then you enter the building, informing F.R.I.D.A.Y you would be staying in your old room.

The world and everything in it could wait till morning.

Amendments - Part 2

I got a few requests to continue, so here’s part two to my enemies-to-lovers/fake marriage fic. Part 1 can be found here.

The phone on his desk buzzed, indicating an internal call. Peeta held up his finger, cutting off Seneca Crane mid-sentence, and hit the intercom button.

“Yes?” Peeta asked.

“Katniss is here with lunch,” his secretary replied. “I told her you were in a meeting, but she insisted.”

Peeta fiddled with his tie, the only sign that his fiancée’s name had triggered a nervous reaction. Negotiating deals worth millions of dollars was easy compared to a face-to-face conversation with Katniss.

“Please, send her in,” Peeta said.
