Butch Hartman on the new Danny Phantom series reboot (2018):

“We wanted to make [the show] much edgier in a classic way. We’re leaning more towards Gothic artistic styles and a higher emphasis on mortality as a subject matter, while still keeping it inoffensive as a family show. I feel like we’re taking it in the right direction, and I’m very excited to see how people react to what we’ve got in store.”

Here’s the new ‘edgier’ intro. What do you think?

concept: Marinette’s class have a Ladybug-and-Chat-Noir-themed trivia night

  • Alya was forced to sit out bc her Ladyblog was the source of info for most of the questions and answers
  • Nathanael knew the minutae of both superheroe’s costumes to a scarily detailed level, having spent hours looking up reference pictures for both of them (#artist lyf)

  • Sabrina got caught out looking up answers for Chloe on her phone, the irony here being that for once in her life Chloe didn’t actually need to cheat and was doing perfectly fine on her own

  • Marinette thinks she’s got the prize in the bag but is constantly thwarted by how many weird things about her the public have managed to get wrong (Question twenty-three: What’s Ladybug’s favourite colour? (It is apparently light blue, though Marinette is pretty sure she’s never talked about favourite colours while in Ladybug mode, like, ever, and her personal favourite colour is PINK. Where the hell did these people get their ‘’’‘information’’’’ from?!)).

  • There’s an entire section on her and Chat Noir together as a team and Mari about has an aneurysm when she realises that everyone else in the whole world just assumes she and Chat are an item to the point that everyone thinks she’s crazy when she splutters that THEY ARE CLEARLY NOT DATING, WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR SOURCES FROM

  • To everyone’s surprise, the final race for the prize turned out to be Chloe and Adrien

  • Adrien wins, bc of course he does, he is Ladybug’s #1 fan, he’ll fight everyone

  • Also unlike Mari, he’s a massive nerd, he likes to keep up with what the public thinks about him so he spends hours trawling the internet looking at what hilarious misconceptions people have about Chat Noir

  • Marinette spends a lot of time afterwards seriously contemplating whether she should out herself to Alya just so she could correct some of these ludicrous misconceptions about her. ‘Dating Chat Noir’, as if

DID YA KNOW? The new anime Yuri On Ice!! is generating buzz for a lot of reasons. It centers on the arguably more unconventional sport of figure skating, for one, with choreographed sequences to match. It’s also not based off of a manga, making what’s in story a mystery to viewers. But the director might be familiar to you. YOI is actually directed by Sayo Yamamoto, the woman behind another unique series, Michiko to Hatchin

MTH was a series that took place in a fictional South American country, chronicling the adventures of protagonist Michiko Marandoro. Yamamoto has also made her name in the anime world by directing the 2012 Lupin III series, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. Yamamoto is known for her strong creative sensibilities, as well as being one of the more well-known woman directors in recent anime history. She has previously worked on popular series such as Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy, Eureka Seven, and Texhnolyze.

IDK what’s weirder, that A) This porno-spoof of Flash Gordon by the name of “Flesh Gordon” has some shockingly good stop-motion animation, B) That this puppet is from a wholly different unproduced stop-motion-monster movie painted gold or C) that this porno spoof was so well-received that it actually paved the way for production of the real Flash Gordon movie…

Old Hollywood Trivia

Dolores del Rio : Reportedly slept for 16 hours a day to maintain her beauty.

Marlene Dietrich: She was the first German actress to be nominated for an Academy Award.

- Marlene was one of the first artists to use surgical tape to pull back the skin on her face, thus giving her a ‘facelift’. She hid the tape in her hairline or under a wig.

Jean Harlow : She was the first actress with ‘platinum blonde’ hair.
Her hairdresser used peroxide, ammonia, Clorox and Lux flakes to create the color.Obviously, the mixture was toxic for her hair and near the end of her life Jean wore wigs because her hair was falling out.

- Jean and fellow actress Hedy Lamarr were the primary inspirations for Catwoman.

Ava Gardner : When she was a teenager she had a big crush on future co-star Clark Gable.

- Although Ava drank plenty, she did not even like the taste of alcohol. She often drank because she was shy and nervous and it
helped her feel at ease in social situations and in front of the camera

Katharine Hepburn : As a child, Katharine cut her hair off, wore boys’ clothes and made people call her Jimmy.

- When she was growing up, it was normal in the Hepburn household to take ice-cold baths or showers daily.
She continued to do this for the rest of her life and would give it as health advice to people.

James Stewart : He was head male cheerleader at Princeton.

- James was one of the first stars to receive a percentage of the gross of his movies, a common practice today

Elizabeth Taylor : She was known to be at least ten minutes late for everything.
So at her request, her funeral began 15 minutes after it was scheduled to begin.

- She was reportedly so poorly educated that she needed to use her fingers to do basic arithmetic, something that bothered and emberassed her when she started seeing the intelligent Richard Burton.

Cary Grant : He sunbathed everyday for thirty minutes to ‘keep that healthy glow’.

- He was very good friends with his colleague Ingrid Bergman.
Cary was one of the few who supported her throughout her notorious affair with director Rossellini and he accepted her Best Actress Oscar for her in 1958 while she was in exile in Italy.

Grace Kelly : All of her leading men were old enough to be her father
(with the exception of William Holden, who was 11 years older than her)

- In her senior yearbook, her classmates predicted that she was certain ‘to become a great stage and screen star’.

Yes, I’ll explain this Catalan Christmas tradition every year

The Tió de Nadal is a pre-Christian tradition that basically consists on a log that   poops presents for children on Christmas. The log has a face drawn, wears a barretina (the traditional Catalan hat), and is covered by a blanket so that he doesn’t get cold.

We place him in a visible place, such as the living room (if it’s close to a fireplace better), at the beginning of December, and children leave food (usually fruit peels, nuts…) to feed him.

Then, on Christmas Day (or, for some families, Christmas Eve), children hit him with long sticks while singing a song that asks him to give them presents. At the end of the song, the blanket is removed, and it reveals all the presents that were hidden under it, representing that he “pooped” them.

And it doesn’t seem weird to us until we have to explain it to a foreigner.
