but some people who asked him things on twitter are definitely overreacting

Shawn Mendes x Reader

words: 1351

„Hey guys“, you greeted your fans through the screen. “Is everything okay? Can you hear me?” Immediately the comments were flooded, telling you that everything was working.
“Okay good, how are you guys? Long time since my last livestream.”

When you were little you had discovered your love for singing and a few years ago you started doing covers on YouTube. Soon people became aware of you and you did a few collaborations with a few artists like Bea Miller or Zedd and so you already built up a little fanbase, and every once in a while you made livestreams for them, like on this day.

You asked what you should sing and after some Ed Sheeran songs and “Sorry” by Justin Bieber one comment caught your eye. “Treat you better by Shawn Mendes,” it said.
You heard the song many times before so it was no problem for you. While you were singing, you got that idea and you changed the lyrics a little and made a girl version of it. The fans seem to like it.

“Better than she can,” you finished the song. In your opinion, it was the best cover today and your fans loved it too. It was already late and it was a good ending to your livestream so you dismissed yourself from your fans and turned off your laptop. You went to sleep, without a hunch of what tomorrow would bring.

You woke up early in the morning. You got yourself ready and made some breakfast. You sat at the table while checking your phone and you almost spilt your cereals when you saw it. You twitter was exploding with messages. “Omg please collaborate @y/n @shawnmendes” “@y/n this would be so amazing please make it happen! “ “My two faves @y/n @shawnmendes “ “@y/n Shaaaawnnn <3 “. At first, you had no idea what all these people were talking, but soon you understood what was all that about when you saw tweets by Shawn Mendes. A fan posted your treat you better cover and he answered to it. “This is amazing. I love your voice and it would be great to work with you @y/n”
He also had started following you.

You were amazed and extremely happy that he saw it and liked it. His words made you smile and you were proud of yourself, since Shawn was an amazing artist and to hear that he loved your voice was an incredible compliment.
You didn´t know what kind of person Shawn was and you didn´t know if he was being serious about working with you so you texted him. You hadn´t much hope that he would really see it, but after about two hours you got back a message from him.
To your question, if he really would like to work with you, he replied that he definitely wasn´t joking and that he would love to.

From time to time you texted with him, you talked with him about his and your music and how you two could assemble it. He was on tour but he promised you that as soon as he would find time you two would meet to work on something.

After three months you finally found time. You were nervous. Of course, you already did collaborations but you never really wrote a whole song together with one of them, but with Shawn you would.
You met at his little studio in Toronto, where he worked when he was at home and he already waited on the door when you arrived. “It´s great to see you,” he said after he welcomed you with a hug.  “I´m glad we finally found some time.”
He went into the next room and you followed him. About 10 guitars hung on the wall and a keyboard and a microphone stood next to a desk on whom his laptop with headphones was placed. The room was decorated with nice lamps and tapestries, who made look everything comfortable.
Shawn took a seat on his chair and you sat opposite from him on the couch. You talked a little but soon he showed you what song he was writing on, or rather which ideas he had for it. He wanted to make it a duet so he needed you to help him.

You spent the whole day writing lyrics and experimenting with melodies on the keyboard.
Shawn and you got along very well, of course you worked hard but there were also a lot of funny moments were you two just laughed about stupid things you said or did, and at the end of the day you had almost half of the song.

The next day was the same. Before midday you drove to Shawn to finish the song. You worked again the whole day and after some more exhausting hours the song was practically finished.
Shawn sat next to you, watching you while you wrote the last line of the lyrics on paper.
“Finished” you smiled at Shawn who looked at you with shining eyes. “We made it,“ he said and raised his hand so you could high-five him.
It were long two days and you were tired (believe it or not, songwriting is exhausting) but you felt so proud and happy, you didn´t mind.

“Thank you so much for your collaboration. The song wouldn´t be as good as it is now without you. We´re a good team” Shawn said while he put the food, which he ordered to celebrate your work, on the table. “Yes we are. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work with you.” You smiled and helped him packing out the Chinese boxes. It was summer so you two sat outside on the patio, enjoying your food and talking. You told him about your family and how excited your mother was when she heard that you would make a song with him and how your brother told her she was totally overreacting because he didn´t know Shawn. “No offence, but he´s into a different kind of music. He didn´t even like the songs I wrote …”   “But they´re great!” he said, referring to some ideas about songs you showed him earlier.  “You think so?” “Yes, I do. They aren´t perfect but they are a very good start and you have talent. You showed that today and yesterday.” You weren´t sure about that. You had a few songs, but you aren´t really content with it so you never published them but you had to promise Shawn that you will write more and that he will be the first one to hear when you have something.

Shawn told you about his family and his career as well. He told you funny stories about him and his friends when they were younger, and you almost spit out your food because you couldn´t stop laughing, and Shawn wasn´t doing much better.
“Man I miss them.” He said with a sad smile after you two calmed down. “Don´t you see them anymore? “ He shrugged. “Rarely. They are all at colleges and I´m barely at home so it´s hard.” You looked at him. “At least you have real friends, which is more than you can say for me.”
So you told him about your bad experiences with your “friends” and the conversation turned into a different direction, but you didn´t mind. Of course, you like to hear funny stories, but who doesn´t love deep conversations about life and discuss your problems with a good friend, sitting outside till midnight?
This was when you realised that you really found a friend in Shawn. He wasn´t the ´famous guy you work with´ anymore, he was Shawn, a person you knew already after two days so well like none of your other workmates. Quasi overnight you two turned into close friends and you loved that you finally found someone you could open up again. You were sure, this wasn´t the last song you wrote together with him.

anonymous asked:

Hmm well its definitely not over. I see a lot of people who claim yixing as so on twitter and use it as a reason to drag him. What did he actually say anyways?

i’m gonna answer both asks here.

As much as i hate to revisit this topic, i think i need to clarify few things so there’s no misunderstanding.

it all started because of this interview.  from 2:00 onward, the question says “If all the members were girl, who is the most similar to your ideal type”

then you have Chen answering, if luhan was a girl he’d be closest Chen’s ideal type,  and then Chanyeol says he’s ideal type is D.O.

After that Yixing says he needs to say something, “everyone, Please don’t think strangely, our team is-”

jongdae butts in to say “please don’t misunderstand” and yixing continues

“we are a real man group”. thats all  he’s said.

He’s got bashed for saying these words. because everyone was saying “Yixing is implying that they’re not gay by saying “please don’t misunderstand, we’re real men”, that means he thinks gay people aren’t real men”,.

thus the homophobic yixing comments were going around everywhere. BUT!!!!! WHAT THEY DIDN’T REALIZE, OR THEY KEPT BEING IGNORANT TO THE FACT THAT THE QUESTION ASKED “IF EXO MEMBERS WERE A GIRL, WHO IS MOST SIMILAR TO YOUR IDEAL TYPE” WHICH BASICALLY PRESUMED THAT EXO MEMBERS ARE NOT GAY, THAT MEANS THERE WAS NO NEED FOR YIXING TO CLARIFY THAT THEY’RE NOT GAY. HE DID NOT MEAN TO CLARIFY THAT.THE QUESTION WAS KINDA WEIRD, IT FORCES THEM TO IMAGINE THEIR BANDMATES AS GIRLS SO YIXING STANDS UP TO SAY ‘PLEASE DON’T THINK STRANGELY, WE ARE A REAL MEN GROUP’ WHICH MEANS:

'PLEASE DON’T THINK OR IMAGINE US AS A GIRL, WE ARE A REAL MEN GROUP'

BECAUSE IT MAKES MUCH MORE SENSE IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT THIS WAY. YIXING REALLY LIKES TO PROTECT HIS MASCULINITY, HE’S SAID HE’LL NEVER CROSSDRESS. IT’S JUST HIM TRYING TO SAY THAT HE DOESN’T LIKE TO BE IMAGINED AS A GIRL EVEN IF IT’S FOR FUN, IT’S JUST HIM TRYING TO PROTECT HIS AND HIS MEMBERS’ REAL MEN STATUS. BECAUSE GOD FORBID, THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DOUBT THAT IF SOME KPOP IDOLS ARE FULLY MALE, OR FEMALE AND MAKE DISGUSTING COMMENTS. OR PEOPLE WHO FORCE MALE IDOLS TO CROSSDRESS BECAUSE THEY HAVE FEMININE FEATURES. IT’S ALL FUN AND GAMES UNTIL IT REALLY HURTS SOMEONE’S FEELINGS AND EGO.

SO THE CONCLUSION? YIXING WAS NOT BEING HOMOPHOBIC AT ALL BECAUSE THE QUESTION WASN’T EVEN ABOUT BEING HOMOSEXUAL SO YOU ALL CAN TAKE A CHILL PILL!  ANOTHER THING IS FANDOM JOKES START TO COME OUT BECAUSE OF THIS INTERVIEW. JOKES LIKE “PLEASE DON’T MISUNDERSTAND WE’RE MANLY” AND THEY SAY YIXING CAME UP WITH THIS JOKE, ITS FUNNY ETC WELL GUESS WHAT? IT’S NOT FUCKING FUNNY BECAUSE YOU GOT THE WHOLE THING WRONG! ALSO YIXING NEVER EVEN SAID “PLEASE DON’T MISUNDERSTAND” , LAST TIME I CHECKED JONGDAE SAID THE “PLEASE DON’T MISUNDERSTAND” PART.

I don’t really care about what people from other fandoms say because i know for a fact they always try to bring yixing and exo down. if there is one problematic thing about exo, they overreact. talk about it everywhere until it becomes huge issue but they don’t realize their faves are as problematic as exo, or even worse. Most of them don’t really care if Yixing really is homophobic, they won’t care if he really meant it or not. they just like the fact that they have some negative things to say about him. ‘he said something problematic this one time so lets use it against him rest of his life’ kind of attitude, like they’re perfect or something.I doubt they’ll see this and change their outlook on this situation but it would be great if they rethink about this.

thanks.

Recent events

This will probably be disjointed. I tried a new tea and I have to piss way more frequently than usual.

This isn’t for Angry Joe or the “Angry Army” or really even the general public. This is most likely not going to convince you away from your current opinion. I think some good people that I like saw my actions as crook deeds, and I’d rather make what happened really clear than have them think this was just some censoring-publicity-jealous-snap-judgment-action claw for attention.

I filed a complaint against Angry Joe because he used my logo in his video.

For what it’s worth, for that particular complaint type, I didn’t think this would take his video down before triggering a process by which he could discuss, argue, accept, decline, etc. the process (although I did laugh when I saw that it had happened. Fuck you, he used my art without permission). Still, had I know that would be the case, I wouldn’t have taken this course of action. I don’t know why I assumed there was a safeguard in place for channels of that magnitude. Furthermore, I don’t know why my complaint, with a specific timeframe where my crappy Bro Team logo appeared, was approved as an offending material by Youtube. Again, had I known that the system is (seemingly) automated, even though the confirmation email told me the case would be reviewed, I don’t think that’s the course I would have taken.

The reason why I even cared at all was because of fucking Gamergate

We are still in the midst of extremist, fanatic behaviour. My stupid pill showed up in Joe’s video. Pretty not great. Any other time, it would be pretty annoying to have my work show up in an Angry Joe video, but how could I care enough to file a complaint? But there it was now though, in that shitty 4chan image of the “sides” of Gamergate, the good guys and bad guys clearly delineated. To me, this was painting a target on my fat asshole. The logo was a bit obscured, someone unfamiliar might not even notice or recognize it, and so forth. That’s valid! Some might though. There are people prowling for targets in the Gamergate/Anti-Gamergate world. You only have to visit the internet to see this isn't a hyperbole. People get their personal information posted online, get items like knives sent to their houses to intimidate them, get Swatted, have pictures sent to them taken from outside their homes, and all that great stuff. Being known as a supporter of either party is a hazard to your health, let alone your brand. So Joe’s video went online on Friday night sometime and I started getting messages about my support for Gamergate. Jokingly, at first: “WOW JOE SAYS YOU ACTUALLY DO SUPPORT GAMERGATE ALL ALONG” and the like. Not really a problem. Then more messages as I try to find where in the video he mentions this. I find the stupid thing and I’m getting more serious messages and posts about where I stand with Gamergate. There’s my stupid pill sitting there on a channel with 1.8 million subscribers, happily sitting in the camp with what the mainstream media has portrayed as the woman-hating fucksquad. Gamerghazi and their ilk are a real threat and I’ve been pretty active on twitter decrying the actions of a lot of less than reputable characters associated with them. Creeps like “Sarah Butts” [who I’d like to point out, cried specifically about her mention here and that is hilarious for every possible normal human], “a man in black”, “Margret Pless”, “Randi Harper” and “Zoe Quinn” herself are the threats we know about, trying to sabotage reputations or posting personal information of their victims online, but I have no fucking idea what the unknowns are like. And they are real. Someone swatted Margret Gel and Mike Cernovich and sent knives to whoever the hell else. I’ve gotten plenty of less than subtle “threats” myself. I have no idea who is going to see Joe’s video and either try to pick up some new targets or recognize my pissass logo and, not realizing I was a “Gamergater”, establish me as a valid target. Seems overreactive to some, but this is an actual concern. I really wish Joe had put some care into what he may be implying with the image.

So I twittered the guy and sent an email. I got more messages about my logo in the video. I wondered that if these are the people joking with me or asking in earnest, how many are seeing it and coming to conclusions of their own? I gave it some time, but I became convinced that there was no reasonable expectation of being answered in a timely fashion when I saw he was on twitter replying to others. I filed a complaint. From what I understood, the case would be reviewed and he’d get a chance to take action in one of several ways. Again, if I knew the thing was an automatic guillotine no matter what with no chance for humans to even look at what the fuck’s going on, then I wouldn’t have bothered. I’d take my chances with Anti-Gamergate if I knew how this was going to evolve and be handled. Furthermore, the name of the claimant is posted publicly if the video does actually get taken down, kind of defeating the point of not drawing attention to myself. I didn't actually think we’d come to the point where the video was just taken down. The header for this section says “Video to be removed,” which can seem to sound like, “Where is the video in question that will be removed after this process has met its resolution determining that this is indeed the correct action to take?”, when it really means “VIDEO TO BE REMOVED”.

Also, what a terrible system!

(god already I can see the spin on this, I filed a dmca because I was afraid of lesbians killing me because an angry joe video triggered them)

This case seemed pretty black and white to me, which is why I was confident in making my claim. Something I made was in the video without my permission. This is all Youtube wants to know. Is something you’ve made in this content that you did not authorize? It was. I made the stupid logo, and there it stupid was.

Not long after that, the video was taken down.

I was shocked; honestly, in those first few moments, I thought it was fucking hilarious that this was the outcome. I couldn’t help but post a screencap to Twitter. It was unbelievable that this is what happened. I’ve dealt with copyright issues in the past, which only rarely meant a video was outright taken down. I haven’t dealt with filing this specific type of claim, and I don’t know why I believed the system wouldn’t be anything other than just taking the video down. I legitimately expected a system that would facilitate communication between both parties to meet a resolution, which I don’t think is really that unreasonable. I’m still of the stance that Joe was in the wrong: he used something I made in his work. Wrong or not, and knowing what I know now, I, again, definitely would not have done this. There is no way around the fact that my masterpiece is in his video though, which is sufficient enough for the claim.

So Joe has a tantrum on twitter and is reluctant to settle it through email. He wants to make a show, which is fine, but he thinks I’m trying to silence him on twitter or some shit. I tell him it’ll be a lot faster to just email each other to resolve this. He finally responds to my initial email.

This happens: http://imgur.com/a/m4z6l

So we’ve got a gent that’s pretty unwilling to see where I’m coming from. He had mentioned he was out with friends prior to this, and it seems like he may be drunk or just having a meltdown. He pretty much listed the same thing 3 times on his list of reasons why my complaint wasn’t legitimate. I was actually startingt to feel a “small man syndrome” vibe from him, for reasons I wasn’t really sure. This actually became clear why when I spoke to others who know Joe later. He cited someone on twitter being rude to him about the issue, as if he also hadn’t just inflicted an order of magnitude greater upon me also. He repeats a bunch of things. I immediately feel really bad for him. The person I thought I was dealing with might not really be so at all.

He insists that I’m doing this because my ego is bruised that no one watching the video would know who I am anyway. That would please be fine! He and others also tried to make the defence that he just took the image off of a Google image search and had no idea who the people represented were, unaware of how much worse that actually is. When you start up your Youtube account, there are notices everywhere saying not to do this. Don’t just take images from the internet and use them, for exactly purposes such as this. To be safe, use only images you’ve made. He is essentially boasting about his lack of diligence, research, or care for the implications of using the image. He shouldn’t have to know who I am; I’m no one. He should for sure have a very good idea of what the images he uses mean or can mean. If this is his livelihood and cares about it so much, why not respect it enough to care about the materials he’s using and how they may affect him?

Anyway, I felt bad for him. I felt bad about the whole thing. Terrible, actually. Even though I felt he was fully in the wrong, I can get that christian guilt thing pretty bad; don’t send your kids to a catholic school. This wasn’t a “fuck you Joe” move, or an attempt at censoring him because I didn’t like whatever his stance was on whatever thing, or a publicity grab, a jealousy scroink, a move to police shit that I don’t like on Youtube (because why would I not start with Shane Dawson?), or any of the cool intents I’ve been attributed with. I just really didn’t like my crap bro shit picture appearing in his video without my consent, double-obscured or not. I told him I’d just be happy to do what I can to retract the claim as long as he made annotations that the figures appearing in the image don’t necessarily have any association to whatever. That’s fine. It had long since become not worth the hassle and tantrum. Knowing it would be this, then yes, anti-gamergate please smash my brain right now.

I don’t think Joe’s a bad person. I think he was brutally ignorant of what he was doing. I don’t think the video should have been taken down, but at the same time, I don’t think he should have posted a video thoughtlessly displaying my logo. I don’t know why I expected that he’d be a reasonable person to deal with. I didn’t really know a lot about Angry Joe before this. I’ve seen parts of his videos before and kind of thought he was doing a bit of an “act”. I don’t mean the “angry” part.

Seeing this drama unfold online, several people in the gaming industry and its periphery told me about their dealings with Angry Joe in person and kind of clued me in to a few things about him. It kind of put a lot of things into huge perspective. I wish I knew this in advance. I would have known it was for sure not worth it and again, would have taken my chance with the meth-head dogfucker vigilantes. Regardless, I feel like a wretched cunt. This was far less than ideal. Even worse was seeing people who were looking forward to that video upset that they were robbed of it, or someone who was looking for something like that to watch during their break. I regret making the claim. I regret that Joe put the stupid picture in the video.

Actually, I’m fine with apologizing for this even if certain parties demand that I don’t, or even if I don’t necessarily feel like I was some maniac bad guy out to file “false DMCA” claims for my own ends. Saying you’re sorry is easy, and how could I not regret that it turned into such an idiotic mess? Again, felt like a wretched cunt, etc. Even when I find out that a year ago, Joe allegedly had a very similar issue with another youtuber who he apparently bullied and coerced with his “angry army” into dropping the entire issue. Whatever. I would not take this course of action again, knowing what I know now. I hope I’ve made that pretty clear by now.

Youtube people are fucking weird. Seriously. I’ve met them, I am one, I’ve heard stories. Jesus christ it’s not worth it. Don’t get involved. Sometimes sticking up for yourself and your rights isn’t worth it so you should sometimes just let it go or always let it go and maybe just be really careful if you have to go out at night alone.

As a final note, yes, by all means, please do try to say the same thing countless others have already said to me about this on various social media platforms using the furry/pony avatar of your choice!

Hello, sorry if I bother, but I was wondering what your opinion is on the situation right now? I sincerely want to think that people are overreacting, and the cancellation of their schedules is happening because the boys need to rest. I'd like Woollim to make a statement, since I am worried about the boys because they're not in their best condition right now. But maybe fans are looking too much into it? I'm a little concerned and I'd like to hear another opinion. Again, sorry to bother.
