2, 14, 16, 40! 💖

2. On a scale of 1-5, how afraid of the dark are you?

5 being the most afraid? then definitely 5. I am scared shitless of dark spaces.

UNLESS it’s outside. Then I have no troubles. Go figures.

14. What is your current desktop picture?

A sky with clouds. Yes it’s seriously that boring. ( but I love skies~)

16. The last song you listened to?

The Interstellar soundtrack.

40. Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?

Sunrises~

I work at a kindergarten and this is a collection of cute Wonder Woman related things that happened within a week of the movie being released.

  • On Monday, a boy who was obsessed with Iron Man, told me he had asked his parents for a new Wonder Woman lunchbox.
  • A little girl said “When I grow up I want to speak hundreds of languages like Diana”
  • This girl had her parents revamp her Beauty and the Beast birthday party in THREE DAYS because she simply had to have a Wonder Woman party.
  • Seven girls playing together during recess on Tuesday, saying that since they all wanted to be Wonder Woman they had agreed to be Amazons and not fight but work together to defeat evil.
  • There is this one girl that refuses to listen to you unless you address her as Wonder Woman.
  • Another girl very seriously asked the teacher if she could ditch her uniform for the Wonder Woman armor bc she “wanted to be ready if she needed to save the world”. The teacher laughed and said it was okay, and the next day the girl came dressed as Wonder Woman and not a single kid batted an eye.
  • They are making a wrap-up dance show, and they asked the teacher if they could come as superheroes, they are going to sing a song about bunnies.
  • This kid got angry and threw a plastic car over his head and a girl gasped “LIKE IN THE MOVIE”
  • A boy threw his candy wrapping in the floor and a 5-year-old girl screamed “DON’T POLLUTE YOU IDIOT, THAT IS WHY THERE ARE NO MEN IN THEMYSCIRA”
  • On Wednesday, a girl came with a printed list of every single female superhero and her powers, to avoid any trouble when deciding roles at recess.
  • I was talking to one of the girls that hadn’t seen the movie, and the next day she came and very seriously told me “you were right, Wonder Woman was way better than Frozen.”

Consider this your friendly reminder that if this movie completely changed the way these girls and boys thought about themselves and the world in a week, imagine what the next generation will achieve if we give them more movies like Wonder Woman.

you know when you haven’t listened to a band that you used to love with all your heart years ago and you stumble upon some of their old songs and listen to them and you just remember all the small things, like tears rolling down your face when you first hear a song that soon becomes your favorite or staring at the night sky in the middle of the summer, while mouthing along the lyrics, it’s just small stuff like that that makes you think “wow, i really don’t know why i ever let this go”

how to stick your plans

by a horrible procrastinator

scheduling:

  • keep things realistic. you may think you can read 200 pages of jane eyre in one night, and honestly, you could…but you won’t unless that essay that’s 30% of your grade is due, you know, tomorrow.
    • you know your habits better than anyone. try to work around what you know you’re going to do. can you read about 25 pages without getting totally bored/sidetracked? well, make yourself do that. it’s only 25 pages, right?
  • try to accomplish one thing every day. don’t ever let your day slip away from you without doing anything. even if that “one accomplishment” is making a stupid text post on tumblr or revising your notes or washing your sheets…just be productive!
    • this is especially important for those of you with mental illness! having a “zero day” can really plummet your mood or set you in an unproductive rut.
    • if you really feel like you need a day to just chill out, napping can count as your accomplishment
  • don’t push studying off! you’ve probably heard this one a million times, but seriously. don’t. you’re not going to retain 10 weeks worth of information with one study session…okay, maybe you can, but do you really want to?
    • the best, low-effort way of remembering information is to, at first, review it often. right after you learn the material, review it a couple times during the week. maybe re-write your notes that weekend. then, the next week, visit one or two times, just glazing over parts you don’t really remember well. then, maybe once every two weeks, etc…by the time you get to finals, you’ll be familiar with all the information! trust me, it works.
  • organize your to-do’s. personally, i make a huge to-do list for the entire week. then, i delegate different ‘levels’ of urgency to it (see below.) you can do this however you want, but i do it this way to help me visualize how lazy i can be and not pay for it…
    • i tend to organize it by these ‘categories’ / ‘urgent levels’
      • is there a quiz on the material due soon
      • how likely is there to be a pop quiz
      • what’s my grade in the class like / how badly do i need that ‘a’
      • does the homework/assignment need to be turned in
      • etc

actually doing it:

  • studyspo helps. okay, i know this is kind of obvious considering i’m a studyblr, but… you see that notebook you just bought? isn’t it fucking adorable? don’t you want to make some sweet, sweet note-love to it? you know you do.
    • don’t spend too much time setting up your work space or browsing tumblr. seriously. you know when you’re overstepping.
  • have some nice playlists. preferably with music you already know! if you don’t know the song already, chances are it’s just going to become a distraction.
    • 8tracks is a great site for this! you can make your own mixes or take a listen to one of the many, many study / chill playlists available. again, take a listen to the track on your way to class or whatever before actually trying to study with it on.
    • instrumentals + classical + video game music are the standard
  • get organized. messy = stressy. seriously. organize your desk, organize your notes. even if it’s not really your style, at least try to keep things ‘in your personal order.’ try to pretend you have your shit together. you will be so much more productive & confident if you feel in control of your situation.
    • if you’re a perfectionist, you may want to disregard this. really. you don’t want to put ‘tidiness’ above productivity.
    • taking pictures of your awesome, super-nice work space is awesome motivation. give that illusion of productivity. become tumblr famous.
    • if you can afford it, matching stationary and cute shit like that is super awesome feeling. it makes studying aesthetically satisfying.
  • take care of yourself. brush your teeth, put on that nice-smelling lotion, drink water. eating healthy foods, getting some exercise, all that good shit people tell you to do…it really is important. it’s kind of hard to focus or remain motivated if you’re miserably bloated & haven’t showered in 3 days.
    • especially for my neurod or mentally ill followers!

i fucked up

  • repeat after me: IT’S OKAY. IT’S OKAY. we all fuck up. you’re allowed to fuck up. sometimes assignments don’t get done, sometimes we don’t do as well on tests as we’d like. it’s okay. you’re okay.
  • recovery. alright, so, now that we’ve accepted that we’re human beans who sometimes grow upside-down…
    • cuddle in a blanket, and write down what you think you did wrong. did you not study enough? do you need to go to your professors office hours? write down your ideas.
    • let your failure motivate you! you hit your lowest point, alright? now you can focus on doing better, even if it’s just a few points difference.
    • you can do some things wrong. you don’t need to get an A every single time. did you understand 50% of the material? well, that’s halfway there!
    • you’re not going to be perfect at everything. we all have growing pains.

well, that’s all i have to say. keep growing towards the sun, kids.

10 Tips From a Cosplayer

Okay, so I’ve been doin this nonsense for about 8 years now and here are my 10 biggest tips for anyone else doing this sadistic hobby (This is a bit geared towards people who make costumes just FYI. I will post another more geared for beginners or those who buy later)

1) Remember Why You Do This.

Maybe you showed up to con and were 1 of 74 Jinx’s. Or maybe your costume wasn’t as accurate as someone else’s. Or maybe it feels like everyone else made theirs and you bought yours. So what? Did you have fun? Did you meet friends, and/or bond with the people you came with? Unless you’re in the contests, remember that it ISN’T a contest. And even the contests are meant to be fun. Alternatively, don’t let any elitist fans ruin your fun.

2) Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously.

Remember that being a cosplayer doesn’t make you ‘more’ of a fan than someone who doesn’t. Remember that you do this for your own enjoyment and that is all that matters. Spend as long or as little as you want on a costume, end a con with 20 silly selfies and some new friends, compliment that other cosplayer in the same outfit because you clearly both have something in common, don’t think of them as competition.

3) Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help.

Parents, siblings, teachers, friends, neighbors, craft store employees, theater teachers, art teachers, people online. There are tons of people who could offer help with even little things like what glue to use on foam that needs heatshaping(non-flammable x-treme elmers glue is nice) , what paint to use on leggings (apparently fabric paint stretches with it just fine), ask your grandma what stitch is best for rounded edges on cotton (idk), ask a JoAnn’s associate what thread to use. In my experience store associates are extremely helpful, even with things like a second opinion on matching colors.

4) Use Coupons.

Seriously. If you can, set up an email just for coupons. Going to Michaels for a 2 dollar little thing of paint? Use that coupon they emailed you and now it’s 75 cents and you have more money for other things like fancy fabric or idk food. Check if any stores have student or teacher or senior discounts if that’s applicable, then you’ll have a discount even without coupons. Especially good for big purchases. If you’re buying everything at once there is almost definitely some sort of 5 off of 30 type of coupon out there. If you are able, this is a good way to set up a savings for con or your next costume maybe, just look at the receipt, see how much you saved and set that much (or a part) aside for food/hotel/gas/merch.

5) Look at your Source.

No matter how well you know your character or your design do not go very long without looking at the source. Working on a wig? Have a picture in front of you the whole time. Maybe sketch out the different angles beforehand. Going fabric shopping? Stare at the original. If you print out a reference pic know that it may be slightly off. If you’re doing a costume where the color seems different in every shot (like Rey from Star Wars) then pick the one you like. If you can, consider coloring or painting a swatch of the color on an index card and bringing it with you to compare. Seriously. Keep checking the source when working. It’s equivalent to “measure twice cut once”.

6) Measure Twice Cut Once.

Even in crunch. I know, it’s stressful and scary and frustrating but you know what is more frustrating and scary and stressful? It being 8pm the night before the con and you just cut that last bit of fabric too small. Or your wig too short. Seriously. Just double check yourself.

7) Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself.

Outdated meme but useful tip. If you’re getting anxious to a difficult level, or exhausted physically or mentally  address it. Take a break. Take a nap. Eat a meal. Go for a walk. Watch an episode of that show you’re trying to cosplay. Play that game. Watch cosplay videos if you’re scared of losing motivation. Just don’t push yourself too hard or you risk messing up parts of your costume and more importantly, you risk hurting yourself. Don’t work until you accidentally stab yourself with a hot iron and have a panic attack. Would you rather spend 15 minutes playing with your cat or crying and bandaging yourself?

8) Use It.

Found some fabric you love for that SnK skirt thing, but it’s infused with glitter?Who cares, use it. Every cosplay you have seen of Red Hood has a lot of leather and cargo pants but you want skinny jeans and suede? Use it. The costume is for you. Make it how you want. To quote the great Hilary Duff “Why Not?” Also, go listen to that song if you need encouragement.

9) Enjoy The Whole Process.

Maybe it is redundant at this point but seriously. Have fun. Not just at the con, party, photoshoot, meetup etc. Have a wig styling party. You finished that jacket? Nice, wear it out shopping and be proud. Make a playlist for each character you work on or general motivational music. 8-tracks.com is great for this too. Test those seams/that hairgel/ those shoes/ flexibility by putting on your jam and dancing around. Send snapchats to your friends when you test your make up. Skype your aunt to show off that circle skirt. Put your hat on your dog.

10) Procrastination isn’t Great.

Probably don’t put off making your costume by making a list of tips for other people.

No matter where we go
Or even if we don’t
And even if they try
They’ll never take my body from your side

I decided to try out a totally new style here. I think it looks pretty neat. It was also perspective practice. I’m not totally satisfied with it but hey, that’s what practice is for.
Song: “Love Don’t Die” by The Fray. It’s SO PERFECT for these two, like… seriously, please listen to it.

anonymous asked:

do you know and y lgbt musicians ? i like any kind of music i just want less straight people in my playlists

dont we all anon?

okay so theres of course a difference between gay/bi musicians and gay/bi musicians who are overtly gay in their song writing and im assuming you mean the latter so tracy chapman and other throwbacks will be notably absent

some of these youre gonna know but ill list as many as i can think of just in case (italicized means either never specified bi or gay identity or qu**r, bold means bi, bold italics means gay and i dont know any trans artists):

syd tha kyd (aka The Internet): super smooth r&b lesbian queen, her tracks and rhythm mix so perfectly and you’ll fall in love with her voice. highly recommend the album Ego Death (esp “special affair” “get away” “curse” “under control” and, of course, “girl”)

angel haze: rap and hip hop with super emotional and passionate riffs that REALLY get me feelin some type of way. notable tracks are “moonrise kingdom” “detox” “gods” and “bruises”.

kevin abstract: hip hop and shoegazing veeeeery dreamy and almost angelic sounding music. his debut album “american boyfriend” is all about coming to terms with his sexuality and relationships as a teenager. highly recommend listening through the whole album, it plays through a whole narrative you dont want to leave any part of the story out. (i also ranked my favs here)

frank ocean: i kno you kno frank ocean and especially if you follow me you know i never shut up about him. genre bending r&b, hip hop, and rap. notable tracks are “slide on me” “bad religion” “pink and white” “thinkin bout you” “forrest gump” “nights” “seigfried” and “self control”

be steadwell: if you like a more stripped acoustic sound and also song writing that ranges from hilarious to super engaging story premises about lesbian witches than heres ya girl. my favs are “witch” and “ambidextrous” please listen to my girlfriend who might be cheating on me.

cœure de pirate: a++ instrumentals (seriously give her instrumental album a listen) and french indie. notable tracks are “aint no sunchine” “summer wine” “oceans brawl” and “drapeau blanc”.

zolita: alt/indie and i love her voice so much. gonna be honest i mostly just listen to “explosion”.

years & years: indiepop with some synthpop here and there. can go from a flow-ey melancholy sound to hardwon upbeat without losing any of the high quality shit olly alexander is bringin to the table. “shine” and “memo” are my personal favs.

troye sivan: dude. you know who this is. (“bite” kills me btw).

willow: yeah, willow smith. yeah, that willow smith. just listen to “marceline”.

kaytranada: hip hop and rap dj who dropped his album 99.9% recently and its   g r e a t  he collabed a shit ton (of course with my girl syd thats called gay and lesbian solidarity). heres what it comes down to: if you’re gay and you love to dance this is your guy.

alicia keys: before you jump down my throat listen to “where do we begin now” and tell me she aint fuckin gay. yeah, thats what i thought.

hayley kiyoko: this girl comes up with probably 90% of fun lesbian content so no doubt you know her. dreampop icon, my queen, and goddess of Gay Aesthetics ™ dropped her ep citrine (now streaming on spotify). notable tracks are “ease my mind” “palace” “one bad night” “this side of paradise” and “cliffs edge”.

thats all i can think of rn anyone can feel free to add on

The Rise and Fall of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (7th Anniversary)

Back in early 2010, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was one of most popular cartoon shows that ever came out and surprisingly on par with Adventure Time back in the day. Here are the reasons why this was so great.

1) This Show was Created by Lauren Faust

Lauren Faust is one of the best storyboard artist, animator and creator of cartoon shows. What I like about her is before she made the show, she ask questions to fans first about MLP on DeviantArt before setting up her show and then made the pilot. Animated one of the best movies like Cat Don’t Dance and Iron Giant. She worked on great shows cartoons, mostly everyone childhood shows like…

I don’t know why she leave the show but my guess is time, working on other things like Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls, Wander Over Yonder, and DC Super Hero Girls. Overall, she’s pretty great.

2) Plot

The plot is simple, Twilight Sparkle, with Spike the Dragon was given the task is go to Ponyville and learn about friendship. There she meets her friends, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. Together, they solve problems, go on crazy adventures, and learn the magic of friendship

For story driven episodes, it usually airs on seasons premieres and finales like

Season 2 Premiere: The Return of Harmony

Season 2 Finale: A Canterlot Wedding

But most of the episodes are different, no story what so ever and that’s fine because after all, it is a little girls show. Most of episodes are friendship solving and it’s really adorable to watch.

Although most of the episodes aren’t story driven and feel most of the lesson are repeats to each episodes, they’re very enjoyable to watch.

3) Characters

Almost everyone character are great, there’s not one thing I hate about them. The mares (females) of the show are portrayed as competent and strong and none of them as portrayed as be stronger and better. We’ve got Twilight Sparkle the intelligent, Fluttershy the shy one, Rainbow Dash the action, Applejack the hard worker, Rarity the fashionista, and Pinkie Pie the joke of the show, also the one who keeps breaking the 4th wall

They develop greatly in the show like Fluttershy, from season 1 to 4, she was always shy and timid, never able to speak up for herself and letting others to push her

But in recent seasons she now more assertive, speak about her concern

Even the villains are great in the show such as

Discord who’s play by an actor that play Q in Star Trek. He’s deceiving and manipulative at first but a very fun villain watch with creating chaos. He also hangs with Fluttershy a lot

4) World Building/Lore

The society the ponies live is quite interesting. There are three types ponies

Unicorns that can do magic

Pegasus can of course fly, control clouds, and live in them

and Earth ponies are just like humans but horses

There’s is one type that rules them all and there called Alicorns. Alicorns are princesses of Equestira. There are only four alicorns, Celestia Princess of the Sun, Luna Princess of the Moon, Cadance, Princess of Love Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship.

Don’t worry, it’s not just ponies that live in this world, there’s dragons, ox, seapoinies, dog creatures, and many more.

5) Music

For a show that’s for little girls, the songs aren’t good… It’s the greatest sh@t you’ll ever listen to. It’s seriously Disney movie level like oh my god, it give so many emotion such as

The Magic Inside

Even the mulilanguage openings are great to listen like the Italian one!

I’m sorry Steven Universe, your songs are great but yours can’t compete with this.

6) Fandom

This fandom is probably why most people watch the show. Unlike most fandoms that are mostly toxic, this one is really decent throughout the years. You can ship any character you want and no is going to tell you otherwise (excpet filly with mare/colt), everyone can speak about their opinions, and everyone gets the message of the show by being kind to each other

What I like most about the community is there content. Seriously this fandom makes some great content like music, fan-animation, and fan-art.

For example

Lullaby for a Princess by Ponyphonic

Button Mash Adventure by Jananimation

So great that non-fans of the show listen to a song called “Discord” by Tombstone and people got pissed when they found out when they found it was created by a Brony

The fandom even given names to all the background ponies!

Such as Derpy Hooves, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Octiva, Vinyl Scratch, Berry Punch and Doctor Whooves.

Also, there is one time that the fandom got upset about one thing and it actually very reasonable compared to most fandoms of right now. When “The Last Roundup” came, it was Derpy first time that she talk. People got offended for having crossed eyes, reckless and being a poor portrayal of a autism person and demand for that pony to be removed off the show.

The bronies got upset and start a campaign, #SaveDerpy and to that I say

After that, she stayed on the show. The best reason why the fans get frustrated about that. Not because of a ship, not because of sauce but for a fan favorite character was about to be remove

So now let’s talk how did this show fall

Downfall

So probably many fans, including myself stop watching the show because with other cartoon shows popping with more mature story-driven, and action shows like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Legend of Korra, Rick and Morty, and Star vs The Forces of Evil, people lost interesting in the show.

Also the show is pretty much over now

The Cutie Crusaders got their cutie mark

So there’s no point in watching the show anymore, a similar situation to Adventure Time

Conclusion

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is the show that used to be so popular back in the early 2010s, good plot, great characters and have great support by fans. With season 7 actually getting interesting, I think this show will get back on their horse

Happy 7th Anniversary!

It started out slowly, you knew Liam and Isaac thought of you as their mom, technically everyone thought of you as their mom, but when the boys started competing for attention, it was hell.

You were in the kitchen making their lunches, as they refused to eat the school lunches when you became Derek’s girlfriend. You were bobbing your song to some song you had playing in the speaker. You were making Boyd’s peanut butter sandwich when the door slammed into the wall.

You sighed, not looking up as you already knew who it was. “You seriously need to stop slamming doors when you need my attention, Isaac, you’re gonna make a hole in the wall at some point.”
