but seriously its the only drama that looks interesting this fall

The Eternal Problem: A Meditation on Mortality in Sherlock S4

When asked about S4 during the promotional lead-up, Moftiss repeatedly said this new series would be about one thing: consequences.  Now that we stand on the other side of S4, what do we think they meant?  It obviously wasn’t legal consequences for shooting Magnussen, or physical consequences of overdosing on drugs.

In this meta, I argue that TAB and S4 are above all about the moral, metaphysical, and narrative consequences of Sherlock faking his death during the Reichenbach Fall—an act which continues to reverberate through the story two series later, both for the characters and, significantly, for the writers.

Korean Drama Recommendations/Fangirling:

So! A friend of mine on FB asked me late last night for Korean drama recommendations. She’s never watched kdramas before, so without intending to I just vomited up brief feels, synopses, and titles for her from which to choose. These titles were only the ones that immediately came to mind off the top of my head. Seeing as how I assume some of you adorable follower-humans might enjoy kdramas too, I thought I’d share. Most likely you diehards (pun not intended) out there have already seen these, but here’s some dramas to throw in your face anyway! Since it’s my thing, I’m going to go by genre; so all will have romance as either a main plot line or as a subplot. Brace yourself for the d'awws!

1.

If you’re in the mood for a serious, beautiful, powerhouse of a drama with adult themes (ie adultery but not really…long story), dreams and money, sacrificing your true self for security to forsake happiness, and of COURSE sex and pianos, then you need to watch Secret Love Affair. It is hot and intense and has an open ended interpretation for a finale that will leave you stunned and happy.

I mean, damn, guys…come on just LOOK at this sexiness!

Plus it’s just a damn good drama all around. So watch it.

2.

If you’re looking for something that walks the line between comedy and paranormal, you NEED to see The Master’s Sun. Its heroine is an hilariously adorable girl who can see ghosts, and the hero is a skeptic who, when the female lead touches, makes poltergeists disappear. It’s probably one of the best dramas that incorporates creepy horror with perfect comedy!

3.

If you’re looking for something a bit different, you HAVE to watch Arang and the Magistrate. Same concept as The Master’s Sun, except the female lead is dead and a ghost, the setting is ancient Korea, and there’s gods, goddesses, action, magic, and evil political dudes. Plus the male lead is hilariously apathetic, and the female lead is a badass who kicks ass as a dead girl! It’s funny and dark and heartfelt and will leave you with all of the heart eyes! Plus it has the cutest ending that ever cuted itself.

4.

If you’re looking for something strictly comedy and a bit silly, with moments of seriousness and more cute than you could shake a stick at, you need King of High School. Take an 18 year old high school guy and make him pose as his older brother as a prestigious CEO in a company that a dowdy, 30 year old over-looked heroine works at and you talk about some of the CUTEST comedy you’ve ever witnessed in your freakin’ life!

5.

If you’re looking for something hella melodramatic and intense, go with Secret Love. Heroine is engaged to a guy who gets involved in a hit-and-run that kills a girl, and the heroine takes the fall for her fiance. Turns out the victim was the pregnant girlfriend of the male lead. The drama explores the idea of falling in love with someone, even as you hate them. Suffice to say, IT IS INTENSE, and a bit nuts of a drama, but it will leaving you feeling all of your emotions and then some.

6.

If you want some time travel in your drama diet, go with Queen In Hyun’s Man. Hero is an ancient Korean scholar who finds himself traveling to the future, where he meets the female lead, an aspiring actress who lands the role of the Queen from our hero’s time period. Comedy, cuteness, angst, and adorableness ensues. And smexy kisses. OH MY GOD THE SMEXY KISSES!

7.

Keeping in the same vain as the historical theme, Sungkyunkwan Scandal is adorable and perfect! Set in ancient Korea, in order to protect her family our female lead disguises herself as a boy to get into a university of sorts that only permits men. Cue “male lead finds himself attracted to a boy despite him not being gay” theme and much hilarious ensues. Ignoring the gay panic is a must, but if you can it’s so entertaining and will leave you so damn amused!

8.

And, last but not least, keeping with the gay-panic theme, Coffee Prince. Coffee Prince is probably one of the best kdramas ever, and it’s basically the same premise as Sungkyunkwan Scandal; female lead lands a job in an all-male working environment to support her family. The only real difference is that in Coffee Prince, our heroine opens and closes the drama as a very tom boyish, masculine girl. She’s never subscribed to gender roles, so it makes her character far more interesting. There’s angst and cute and smexy kisses and great characters and everything you could ever want in a drama!

i expected to do a rundown of book reviews before school starts but i didn’t read anything during vacation. i half-blame kdramas. i half-blame the burnt out feeling i experienced when the semester concluded. there’s that, and i’m really sorry for my main blog because it has been neglected this holiday season even if i promised i wouldn’t put it aside anymore. i’m so bad at keeping up with it.

nonetheless, i want to share some thoughts i have about some kdramas i watched (and finished) this holiday season because i loved a bunch of them and i just want to talk about them.

1. W: Two Worlds- the first one I decided to binge-watch. the chemistry between the characters of this drama was A++ also, i took interest in it because of the world it promised in its synopsis. nonetheless, it didn’t disappoint. everything in this drama was obviously so well-though of. although i’m not a fan of the female lead character, i loved kang chul’s character and that was enough to keep watching the drama till the end. i tackled this drama expecting a romantic love story but it isn’t much of that because it’s really action and suspense packed. anyway, i realized that too late to turn back from my interest in the world in this drama. 4.5/5

2. Cheese in the Trap- the setting of this drama is just so relatable because the characters are in college. kim go eun is an acting goddess. hats off for both park hae jin and lee sung kyung. nam joo hyuk is an adorable human once more. this drama had great acting and a great story rolled into one. it would only seem light at first but the story gradually becomes darker as it progresses. this drama gets your mind working because of how it drops its foreshadowing and all that so you know that this is a well thought out story. 7/5

3. Oh My Ghostess- this one only started to hook me around the middle part. but i’ll say it was great to watch. i was sincerely rooting for park bo young’s character that i didn’t fancy the parts with kim seul gi’s character possessing her and seducing jo jung suk’s character– and that’s quite a lot of parts. that doesn’t mean i hated kim seul gi in this, it’s just that i really, really wanted to see things work for chef sun woo and bong sun. this show, nonetheless, challenged park bo young, obviously, because she was technically doing two roles in one drama. and she did a great job!! also, it’s impossible to not fall in love with jo jung suk who was every second lovable and adorable in this drama. i also discovered another favorite actor in this drama which is kwak si yang. 4.9/5

(everyone needs a kwak si yang smile in their life. also, because the next kdrama i’m going to mention has si yang in it)

4. Second to Last Love- adult romance and family drama. not a lot of people know about this drama but apparently, it aired the same time as scarlet heart ryeo and jealousy incarnate in SBS. i watched this just because of the promise that kwak si yang is in this drama. and he is!! kim seul gi being an amazing actress in this and sharing the screen with kwak si yang is a big bonus. i fell in love with him during oh my ghostess and i looked for dramas where he acts in and this is one of them. he’s the second lead in this drama and he did a terrific job in it. i’m a new fan!! anyways, this drama isn’t the usual thing to watch if you’re looking for oppas with hot bods to scream about. it’s a feel-good drama with plot twists so it’s not boring and not very light either. this is the quality and kind of drama that i hope filipino family dramas would achieve. even if it has a sad, dark back story, it is still relatable which makes it speak to audience. 3.8/5

4. Cinderella and the Four Knights- the title should be enough warning if you’re not into common and overused storylines. it already has cinderella on it so you already know what to expect right?? the story seriously reminded me of wattpad stories where a mistreated, poor, golden hearted girl’s life turns around 360 degrees because she meets this rich old man who lets her live with his super handsome and super bratty heirs. it just saddened me that it’s the case because jung il woo and park so dam who were both great actors. i think their acting was what really pulled me into finishing this series. eitherway, the other characters were too simple in a black and white way too so that didn’t impress me. i gave this drama a chance because i wanted to see if they’ll do something innovative with the cinderella concept but no. it wasn’t what i got. i continued watching it nonetheless because the acting was good, and i was looking forward to the happy ending of this drama that’s why i kept watching it. 2.5/5

some other stuff i’d like to mention:

State of the Robron Fandom (As I See It)

I was raised on the American soap opera. Mostly CBS soap operas. That means I grew up watching The Young and the Restless, As the World Turns, Guiding Light and The Bold and the Beautiful. I had a slight flirtation of General Hospital in college, watching for three years before taking a break never to return but I keep up. I loved and hated all the characters that ran through the television screen and into my life.  I enjoyed reading the soap magazines to hear what others were thinking about my favorite and hated storylines.

As I grew up, those magazines remained (most of the soaps did not) but added to that was social media.  It started out on message boards, moved to fanfiction.net, then LiveJournal then Twitter, Tumblr, and Achieve of Ours.  Since then soaps have changed, well the American ones at least. The ratings fell, and so did its existence.

Since then, I have moved on.  British soap operas are catching my eye. Emmerdale, in particular.  Well, Robert and Aaron are what caught my eye.  The rest of my love for the show came with time. Anyway, with that came a new fandom. An intense fandom is full of different personalities and opinions.  Full of talented and smart people A fandom that is loud and very proud of those different views and talents.  Which is great. When things are going well.  This is what I’ve seen in the Robron fandom and where I stand on it.

Prompt/Request:
If requests are still open could you do one where the reader absolutely wrecks Jefferson at a debate and he can’t believe her lost to them and is in just total awe and then falls in love with them??

A/N:
This request was originally planned for another Hamilton account to write although I was given the permission to write it by the writer.
This is in two parts so hope you enjoy!!

@a-blog-of-hamilton-and-writing

I hope you like it as well!! I was the one who asked to take this request after all-

Part 2
—-

You eyed the two men up in a heated debate as you glanced to your side, Your older brother the great George Washington sat by your side with a plain tried look on his face as the two men argued against each other with him occasionally stepping in and calming them to not explode on each other even though the two men debating sure wanted to.

On one side of the debate was the man you have known for a long while now. Known as Washington’s right hand man was Alexander Hamilton. He was a good man as you met him as soon as you visited George when the great battle of Yorktown had finished and they won. Although on the opposite side was a man you have read about before and heard your older brother speak about before, Mr. Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson to be exact. Thomas Jefferson was very handsome man to say the least. He had a very attractive face and from what you have heard had a very notable personality of his own. You watched interested into the debate that was happening as it was a topic you had agreed on with Alexander and it was interesting to see Jefferson counter Alexander as Alex usually spoke a mile a minute when debating.

The topic was about the controversy on if George should or shouldn’t send some of his troops to help with the Revolution that was currently happening in France. As you researched on the topic you found out that Thomas had left to France to help France with its Revolution, so it was simple to understand that he wanted to help France. Along with the idea that he believed that since France helped us once before and we should return the favor. Which was a good point but you personally thought that it wasn’t a good idea. Although most men wouldn’t take you seriously as for the simple fact that you were a woman.

You shifted in your seat as you watched the debate wanting to get up and speak to Jefferson yourself. You gently gripped the arm of your seat as your brother’s eyes shifted to look at you. Sympathy laced his eyes as he set as gentle hand on top of your own. He spoke quietly as to not distract anyone, “I know, I know. Try to stay calm alright?” He softly said as you nodded slightly as a sigh escaped your lips. George could always read you like an open book and even when you didn’t like it, he could always calm you down. You continued watching the heated debate as you sat at the edge of your seat listening to everything each one said. It was currently Thomas’ turn to speak.

“- stand with them if they fought against oppressors, and Revolution is messy but now is the time to stand.”

“Stand with our brothers as they fight against tyranny. I know that Alexander Hamilton is here and he would rather not have this debate. I’ll remind you that he is not Secretary of State!!”

Your face suddenly grew angry. Did he just insult the position that Alexander has? Sure Alex isn’t the Secretary of State but that doesn’t give Thomas the right to not let him speak his mind. If only she could go up and speak to him her herself. As if on cue her brother spoke to her, “Y/n. Don’t.” He said not wanting drama in this debate. You tried to stay calm and listened on holding onto the arm of your chair.

“He knows nothing of loyalty. Smells like new money, dresses like fake royalty. Desperate to rise above his station, Everything he does betrays the ideals of our nation!”

“Hey, and if you don’t know, now you know, Mr. President.”

You and Alexander had the same exact reaction to that part as the frustration was clear on your face and the same for Alexander. Unlike last time your brother was busy speaking as you grew angry. You looked at Jefferson as you and him locked eyes for a second, with him winking at you. A small light pink hue dusted your cheek. Damn his good looks. You heard George speak as your anger grew. “Thank you, Secretary Jefferson. Secretary Hamilton, your response.” He spoke easily as he was happy to break that part of the debate. Adrenaline flowed through your veins as you stood drawing the attention to yourself. George looked at you with shock as Alexander had a smug grin on his face with Thomas being shocked as well.

“Allow me.” You said dusting off your dress walking towards Hamilton’s side as you ignored the silent pleas from your brother to come back and relax. You walked the heels of your shoes clicking with each step you took in the silent room. You felt Thomas’ eyes on you. Alexander smiled at you as unlike other men he respected you for your debating skills. You nodded as he stepped aside letting you take center stage. You looked directly at Thomas with a serious glare as you spoke.

“Thomas, You must’ve out of your GODDAMN mind if you think. The President is gonna bring the nation to the brink, Of meddling in the middle of a military mess. A game of chess, where France is Queen and Kingless.” You caught your breath as Thomas sat there shocked unable to speak along with the complete room. The only person that wasn’t shocked was Alexander who wore a smug grins towards Thomas as you continued.

“We signed a treaty with a King whose head is now in a basket. Would you like to take it out and ask it? ‘Should we honor our treaty, King Louis’ head?’ ‘Uh… do whatever you want, I’m super dead.”

You stated the end of that part with no emotion as you sent daggers into his very soul as Alexander was flipping out in the background mumbling that you were amazing. You smirked as Thomas stood frozen in pure shock you opened your open to continue until George coughed then spoke, “She has a point, Hamilton draft a statement of neutrality. That will be all.” He said as he walked out into a room behind the chairs. She felt slightly bad that you didn’t listen to George but you felt proud of yourself. All the men who watch the debate left besides Jefferson, Alexander, and Jefferson’s friend James Madison. You smiled and hugged Alexander whispering a ‘thank you’ into his ear. He nodded as walked away as he had work to do.

You sighed and looked at Jefferson. He was still shocked as his eyes looked like it was still collecting the information of what just happened. You smirked as you walked up to Thomas your heels clicking and your dress moving side to side as you walked up to him. Jefferson watched you walk towards him although he was still in shock. You stood right in front of him as he looked down at you, “Y/n Washington, Pleasure to meet you Thomas.” You said smirking as there was a playful glint in your eyes as you spoke. You turned as you walked away leaving a stunned Jefferson and shocked James Madison to figure out what had just happened.

Juxtaposed

so this is my first fanfic on here and I hope you guys like it! Basically takes place around a month after 1x13 and is just some Bughead smut really. My ultimate goal for their first scene in season 2 lol x

So it’s a bit long sorry and like I said smut you have been warned haha

It was a dreary Friday afternoon. The halls of Riverdale High seemed to have transgressed into an even duller shade of grey, rivalling the clouds outside.  Betty sighed as her eyes drifted to the clock behind the teacher’s desk, willing the hands to move faster. The usually attentive blonde was barely tuned in; the teacher’s voice a humming in the background fading into a symphony of tapping pens, restless feet, and quiet chatter.

Her eyes scanned the room as she slumped in her seat- a rarity after being raised with indoctrination of the importance of correct posture- taking in the other patrons of the room. Ethel was to her left idly taking notes, while Veronica on her right was texting behind the guise of her text book. Archie was a row in front of her jotting what Betty presumed to be lyrics in a notepad, while Kevin was next to him probably texting Veronica. She sighed again, deflating as her heart ached a little at the missing piece.  Jughead was at Southside High, probably staring down hallways greyer than these, softened against the harsh leather that plagued the school but dull none the less.

Betty understood why he went. He didn’t have much of a choice, but she respected that he was content with what had played out. These people, the Serpents and the Southside community had accepted him without a second thought, welcomed him before they knew him and offered unwavering support and protection. A family. It was something the people on this side of town had never done. It was something even his oldest and closest friends had failed to deliver on many times. It was something he had only ever found in her and as much as that warmed her heart and made her feel special, she knew that he needed it in something else too; now more than ever.

The piercing shrill of the bell intruded Betty’s reverie and she jumped slightly in her seat, making a mental note of the homework the teacher was now rattling off for the weekend before hastily gathering her things. Kevin was by her side immediately.

“Is it just me or is everything particularly mundane this Friday?” the sharp tongued boy asked her, shaking his head. Betty laughed lightly nodding in agreement.

The Sickness

Short opinion: You know, Jake, the whole I’m-the-leader-I-don’t-feel-pain thing stops being cute right around the time your entire team ends up LITERALLY up shit creek without a paddle because you didn’t think to mention you had the flu before leaving for the field trip into the sewage system.

Long opinion:

This is one of those Animorphs books that has it all: humor, nakama, horror, action, medical mystery, romance, interpersonal drama, suspense, and heart.  If I ever figure out how K.A. Applegate does it in 150 pages or less without feeling rushed, I’ll die happy.

Seriously, there are so many really excellent emotional notes in this book.  I especially love how well it handles the empathic misery we feel for Ax being sick while a million miles away from his mom and dad, and for Jake throwing up on the floor of a burning building because he can’t even keep it together long enough to get home.  Maybe it’s “just” the flu, but it’s also the last thing these poor kids need in their lives right now.  We also get a lot of awesome light moments, especially in the opening sequence with the school dance—I’m right with Cates that that scene of Rachel inviting Cassie to the spring fling on Jake’s behalf, and then accepting Jake’s offer on Cassie’s behalf, is one of the sweetest and funniest in the whole series. Add to that Ax getting more female attention than any of the guys who are actually interested in human females, the kids’ adorkably clumsy attempts to herd Chapman away from Ax, and the running motif of Rachel fighting off Cassie’s competition for Jake, and this sequence is utterly heartwarming.

It’s also interesting that this book delineates the hierarchy of the Animorphs’ internal power structure more clearly than any other novel in the series.  We already know that when Jake’s out of town (or floating around dead in the Delaware River) leadership defaults to Rachel, and that when Rachel’s in charge then Marco is going to be the most likely to challenge her.  However, this time around we get to see Marco briefly leading the team after Rachel falls ill—and then when Marco falls ill in turn, Cassie and Tobias spend several minutes passing responsibility back and forth like a hot potato until eventually Cassie’s left holding the ball by simple virtue of Tobias being sick.

The plot of this story interweaves two simple problems (Aftran’s about to get executed, and Ax has the flu) and their infinite complications (everyone else has the flu, no one knows whether to trust Illim, Cassie doesn’t have a way into the yeerk pool, the kids get lost as eels, leadership keeps changing hands, Ax needs a brain surgeon, Cassie’s dad might find Ax at any moment…) in a way that feels logical but also surprising.  This plot is rich, complex, action-packed, and heavy on Cassie doing everything that makes Cassie awesome: reading people, caring for sick friends, trusting yeerks, finding unique solutions to problems, operating well alone,  PERFORMING BRAIN SURGERY, sticking by her own morals, and pooping on robots.

Speaking of characterization, I’m pretty sure that this book’s place in the series is no accident; its four immediate sequels (#30, #31, #32, #33) are about how various Animorphs do when fighting on their own.  Under those circumstances, we get to see how each of them copes when unable to rely on the rest of the team for guidance and assistance. In #33 Tobias discovers wells of inner strength he never knew he had: from his hawk instincts, from his human friends, and from his andalite ancestry.  In #32 Rachel flails around for a while but also gets herself together (pun intended) long enough to defeat Visser Three using her various strengths as a warrior.  In #31 Jake fails epically at coping with his own family conflict and would probably end up getting his friends and family killed and/or infested if Cassie and Marco didn’t go behind his back to save him from himself.  In #30 Marco goes a liiiitttle off the rails but still succeeds in keeping Visser One from exposing them all…

And in #29, Cassie excels.

When she doesn’t have to worry about deciding what the rest of the team thinks, Cassie really does turn into a “one-woman army,” for better or for worse (#54).  Her decisions when acting alone aren’t always the best (falling asleep while in morph, anyone?  How about that little incident with a certain controller and a certain morphing cube?) but she also gets shit done.  She doesn’t stop and wonder whether she should ask for help, she doesn’t spend so much time doubting herself that she takes unnecessary risks (*cough* Jake *cough*), and she doesn’t feel the need to justify herself to anyone.  In this book, she handles Tobias’s bout of flu and the Animorphs’ complex alliance with the Yeerk Peace Movement and Aftran’s rescue and Ax’s appendicitis of the brain and morphing a yeerk and controlling not one but two humans and Aftran’s near-death from kandrona starvation all on her own.  No offense to the other little cinnamon buns, but Cassie’s just about the only one capable of that kind of decisive action without backup.  Because that’s the thing about Cassie: she hates risking anyone else’s life, but she’s perfectly comfortable with risking her own (#4, MM1).

It’s also striking that Cassie spends maybe more time going on missions alone than anyone else on the team.  At quick count, #19, #29, #43, #44, MM1, #39, and #34 all involve Cassie going on missions partially or entirely without her team.  No one else has that kind of track record for operating alone, not even Tobias with his heavy reliance on personal independence.  Cassie not only does just fine without backup, she also doesn’t rely on the team for decision-making the same way that the others do.  Rachel and Marco need their friends for moral guidance, Ax and Tobias need them for decisiveness, and Jake needs them for personal affirmation.

Cassie doesn’t need them at all.

All six of the kids are more-or-less codependent by the middle of the series, this is true.  However, there’s also a reason that Cassie survives the war more intact than anyone else on her team, and that’s because she never loses sight of who she is.  Cassie’s identity is more about her ability to look herself in the eye and still like herself than it is about appearing to be a good person (Rachel, Ax, Jake) or a tough independent one (Marco, Tobias) before the rest of her friends.  That refusal to consider what the rest of the team thinks if she has a definitive opinion is her greatest weakness in addition to being her greatest strength (#19 and #50 especially both feature her nearly getting her entire team killed with short-sighted decisions) but it is the quality that enables her not just to survive the war, but to thrive after it ends.  This book feels like foreshadowing for #54 in a lot of ways: the others drop off one by one, but when Cassie becomes the Last Woman Standing she gets by just fine on her own.

You sat busily at one of the cafeteria tables, jotting some extra notes down for a class that was coming up that afternoon. It never hurt to be extra prepared you always thought. This school year was important to you and you wanted to do your best.

Looking back and forth between your textbook and notes, you paused your writing to a have a few sips of the sikhye you had as your lunch. You barely had time that morning to pack a proper meal and found that you only had a few bucks to spare for the sweet drink.

“Don’t tell me that’s the only thing you’re having today?”

I'm not sure if you're open for requests or if you take requests but if you do would you pretty please write a Hyungwon DJ AU based off his pictures from KCON Japan. He just looked so good and I've been craving DJ AU ever since.

you know I actually haven’t figured out a requesting policy yet, but I too needed some DJ Hyungwon so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

I hope you enjoy it and please excuse me if there’s any mistakes >.<

Characters: Hyungwon x Female Reader

Genres/Warnings: some swearing near the end

Length: 2077 words

You’re sitting in a booth, the Shirley Temple you had ordered long forgotten and watered down. Your full attention is on the book in front of you. Barely hearing the pounding bass of the music, you bite your lip in anticipation as you flip the page. Reading the following words your eyes widen; the main character has just figured out their significant other has been working for the villains the whole time. Having been sucked into this book body and soul, you could almost feel the same betrayal as the protagonist. Needing to take a break, you sit back in the booth and place your bookmark in between the pages before shutting the novel.

Shoujo manga recs?

Oh lovely anon, I had fun with this, probably too much fun.  You see, I got a little carried away and ended up making a list of 12, which isn’t so bad, but then I had to go into fangirl mode and explain while they’re all so delightful.  I really urge you and anyone else looking for some new shoujo to try one of these!

Akatsuki No Yona: If you’ve seen the anime and enjoyed it, I strongly recommend reading the manga from the beginning.  I’m not going to say much else about this one since the majority of you know it, but seriously, give Yona a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Kanata Kara: Oldie but goldie, as in it’s from the 90s (please don’t let that deter you).  This manga follows Noriko, a girl transported to another world. Upon arrival she meets the traveling warrior, Izark, and their adventure begins.   Kara is one of my favorites; it does a wonderful job juggling action, adventure, and adorable romance.  As an aside, I love the fact Noriko doesn’t just know the language in the new world but has to learn it during her travels.

Last Game: Though this series does encompass a lot of stereotypical shoujo clichés, it’s also delightfully fresh.  Unlike most, LG takes place in a university setting, and it’s the hero who has been in love with the heroine for a long time.  Ten years, actually.  Too bad he can’t just manage to spit that out.  Also, did I mention she’s pretty much better than him in everything? Bring on the rivalry love (I’m having Special A flashbacks).

Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden: This is what I like to joking call “the original AkaYona.”  We have our chosen girl who is prophesied to save the country, and the warriors she must collect in order to do so.  One of the really cool twists in this story is that not all the warriors are men, and even more than that, all the men aren’t in love with her, save her love interest.  The heroine is also quite mature and not completely inept when it comes to combat.  Fair warning: there are a lot of deaths, have tissues ready if you cry easily.

Everyone sucks at lying {2x05 Review}

1. I now find this fight scene between Mason and Jimmy poorly acted and corny. I don’t think I particularly liked it when I first watched it either.

2. Mason is also extremely calm when he tells Tyler the story like it’s the most obvious thing in the world that he ended up killing someone who was supposed to be his friend.

3. And Tyler is also hella calm about the fact that his uncle killed someone and i also love how Mason’s emphasis is on YOU DON’T WANT THE CURSE and not KILLING SOMEONE WILL COMPLETELY MESS YOU UP. IT’S WRONG.

4. OH MY GOD, JEREMY, FIX YOUR HAIR.  I thought his hair was fixed. WHY is it like this still?

5. Oh his hair is sort of fixed just that angle was terrible. Did him NO favours.

6. I love the Stefan and Elena hug scene, it’s really cute and it’s like they’re creating a safe space within the safe space of her room and I like their secret code but the dialogue of this scene always annoyed me because it’s clunky exposition about why they have to fake fight and it could’ve been done a lot smoother.

7. Also super cute that Elena keeps her hand on Stefan’s chest throughout this dialogue.

8. And I just booked that she clasps his hands when he explains their secret code.

9. I still don’t get how Liz would be an absentee mom because she works so much when supposedly nothing happened in Mystic Falls in their lifetime until Damon showed up and started murdering everyone.

10. Paul has such broad shoulders *sigh*

11. I find it hilarious that Tyler had more character development in one minute than Damon in an entire season.Jeremy goes over to him to say hi and see how he’s doing since his father’s funeral and Tyler brushes him off and then sighs and has this look like maybe, maybe we don’t have to be a dick today Tyler, and calls Jeremy back to apologize and its a pointed apology, like it’s clearly something new that Tyler is doing and then he thanks Jeremy for being cool during the funeral. Then he’s Tyler again inviting girls over to his house to party because he’s still Tyler.

12. “I *know* Damon Salvatore, do you know what he’s done for this town?” Liz, the first time you met Damon he was “dating” your underage daughter and it just so happens that when he comes to town people start dying?

13. “Think about it, when did the vampires attacks start happening?” THANK YOU MASON.

14. Damon’s hair is stupid and Liz is a terrible liar. Can anyone in this town actually lie? Like even Caroline who seems to be the best at it isn’t because she’s extra pushy and talkative when she lies.

15. I wanted to write a thing on this but longing is actually associated with SE quite often, “Uh oh, longing looks are being exchanged” and in the next episode Elena warns against longing gazes and in season 3 I think Damon mentions how they look at each other longingly all the time.

16. “No, I’m saying this isn’t up for discussion right now because we have ears on us” *Caroline and Damon turn away a second too late* ALL OF YOU ARE BAD AT LYING AND POKER FACES.

17. “Relationships are about communication” funny, Damon considering you communicate with Elena by killing her loved ones.

18. This party is also super awkward. Tyler and Jeremy standing and drinking while two girls dance awkwardly in front of them, I don’t believe anyone is having a good time.

19. Also this girl asked for a margarita in the Grill not bourbon or scotch or whatever it is you’re pouring her.

20. “I’m really embarrassed about slutting it up with you that day at the swimming hole, I’m really not like that, I promise” —> Guys, THIS is slut shaming. And also an example of why slut shaming is specific to women. Tyler was doing the exact same thing but the writers didn’t feel the need to have him apologize for his behaviour because he’s a dude and that’s what dudes do but she needs to apologize for exhibiting sexual appetite.

21. Girl whose name I don’t remember starts looking at Jeremy’s drawings of wolves,Tyler looks extremely uncomfortable and suspect and Jeremy is staring at him, not even glancing staring, BAD. LIARS.

22. Also Tyler doesn’t know about vampires yet so he wouldn’t know that Jeremy would be in the loop about supernatural stuff so if he sees a whole bunch of sketches on wolves, Jeremy could just like wolves, Tyler, the fact that he shoves him against the wall and chokes him demanding to know why he’s drawing about wolves is disproportionate and stupid. It would’ve been more interesting if Tyler was just on edge learning about all of this and someone who actually didn’t know about wolves was talking about them or drawing them and he loses his shit.

23. I actually really love that Damon knows Stefan and Elena are having “faux drama” in their relationship because he knows they aren’t that couple.

24. Yeah, Caroline didn’t last like two days lying to Elena.

25. Damon, you’re making a scene in a public place. You’re a fucking mess.

26. Also I find this was an oddly touchy episode for Defan. As in they kept touching each other, shoulders and necks and stuff, which just starts in this episode and kind of only happens as much in this episode.

27. “Curse about what?” TYLER, MY GUY, he ALREADY told you he knows about werewolves, this is just redundant.

28. I remember my friend and I watched this episode and went to the mall to copy Caroline’s wardrobe. I still like it but I’d change the top.

29. I know I’m supposed to be like aw, Damon won’t kill Liz because she’s his friend but like um, no? He abused and terrorized her daughter, proceeds to try and kill her ex husband in the next season and just murders everyone. It’s Damon’s MO to not kill you/hurt you just the people you love.

30. Caroline’s fear of Katherine is the only one that makes sense since Katherine suffocated her with a pillow

31. Also Paul is really great in the scene when he and Elena fight over human blood. His eyes are expressive af.

32. “What you did for Caroline’s mom that’s the Damon who was my friend.” He gets brownie points for not killing her? Seriously, this show reaches.

Mewni Musings: The Growth of Starco: Past, Present and Future

Following  the Battle of Mewni episode special, there is no doubt in my mind that Star and Marco will be endgame. Yes, we had our scares last season with the ‘Just Friends’ episode but seriously,

The thing is I don’t want them to rush it and make them suddenly fall in love. I want them to drag this out for as long as they could so that they can actually allow both the characters and the viewers to come to terms with their relationship. It is no argument that Star and Marco love each other…as friends. They have very strong friendship that transcends the span of…what is it…three seasons and we’ve seen them gone from two folks who barely knew, liked and trusted each other to two people who would do anything for each other.

Marco travelled to Mewni to find Star. I just love seeing how far this friendship has come. Now we are at a crossroad where Star has started to develop a romantic interest in Marco in the form of a crush.

But that’s just what it is guys, a crush. Crushes are meant to be temporary. What matters is how far it will go. Marco has had a crush on Jackie since young and now he and her are a couple. Star had a crush on the guitar kid before and now she doesn’t anymore. I mean she still likes him but not the same as before. The defining factor is where the creators will take Starco

If We Were A Movie (Seventeen Preference)
  • AN: this was probably one of the best requests of all time, I felt so so inspired by it and I hope you guys like it to. I'm seriously thinking about turning this into a whole serious, where each of these is a boy x reader oneshot so pls lemme know what you think of that idea? <3
  • S.Coups/Seungcheol: The Classic High School AU
  • We all know that our boy Coups would slay as the classic high school heart throb. Nobody would fit the part better than him. He is the meaning of after school football practices and making cheerleaders' panties drop with a wink and a smile. He also has the heart and the smarts underneath his muscles and good looks to bring dimension to his movie character that would surprise the protagonist in the best way and make you fall in love. (I mean, who wouldn't fall in love with him, anyway?) Not only does his character fit seamlessly into this AU/genre, but he embodies the genre itself. The cheesy romance bits of the plot, the corny jokes, and the underlying message to never give up on your dreams that always acts like a big brother to the viewing teens, just like Seungcheol does. He is the classic high school movie - a perfect way to settle into the movie marathon.
  • Jeonghan: Pre-Millennial Crime Thriller
  • That sounds like a very complicated title, but our Jeonghan is a very complicated and beautiful man. At first I wanted to call this one "1920's Mob Film", but I felt that was far too narrow. Mostly because crime dramas set in the 1960's and 70's are becoming very popular and Jeonghan fits that style very well along with the 1920's. So I believe this beauty would fit perfectly into any crime or mob movie set before the turn of the millennium. Mainly during the 1920's, 30's, or the 50's and 60's. His hair was just meant to be tucked neatly under a fedora and paired with a sharp suit that would have all his enemies shaking in their boots the moment they saw him coming. Because yes, he does have that beautiful, angelic face, but I feel that's what would make him the perfect crime boss. He would be the devil hiding in the angel's armour. Nobody would expect it from him until just a few moments before their tragic death. Slowly, over time, they would learn to fear this beautiful man, understand that this was his town and this angel was playing God not because he deserved it, but because he wanted it. I just feel like he's the human embodiment of soft music box music playing in the background of a murder scene during a movie like this, and I love it.
  • Joshua/Jisoo: Zombie Apocalypse
  • Joshua would be the Glenn of a Seventeen zombie apocalypse. (And because Glenn is my all time favourite character of everything I paired little Jisoo with the genre.) He'd be the good guy who survives strictly because he is good to others, and somehow manages to maintain his purity and morality even when the world goes to shit. That would be the best thing about him. He'd believe that others are still good and he'd high uphold the belief that no one should get left behind. He would be the guy who would often almost get killed trying to save other people. He wouldn't actually have many apocalypse survival skills, but his kind nature would find him with people to save his ass over and over again, no matter what trouble they had to go through doing so. Most would think that a badass type of person would embody the zombie genre, but I really think someone like Jisoo is it. He has the heart warming arch of the story, the loveable characters (you know, the ones you really, really don't want to die but probably get treated like shit anyway), and somewhere deep inside him he probably has the really dark parts that any good zombie movie has. But really he's probably more of a zombie comedy like Zombieland or Dead Before Dawn.
  • Jun: Vampire
  • Jun being the vampire genre is about as certain as the sun rising in the morning. He's a vampire through and through. But I believe he's his own breed of vampire. Not a classic, brooding dark creature of the night like Dracula, or a modern emotional sparkly lover like Edward, but a mix of sexual, adorable, funny, sassy, and something still very human that would make his vampire easily a romantic comedy or teen movie. He'd be the type to go around telling people he's a vampire, almost trying to scare them, and no one would believe him because he just doesn't seem like the type. And he'd drink blood out of those girly reusable athletic cups with straws in public, with no one actually knowing it's blood. He would be a lot like the vampires from My Babysitter's A Vampire, but with a twist of sexuality, and something a little more brooding. Because deep down he has realized his curse - being stuck between death and life for an eternity and having to kill to stay strong - and accepted it. He would just be the perfect main character, as well as the fact that he just embodies every aspect of every kind of vampire that has been portrayed on screen before.
  • Hoshi/Soonyoung: Summer Adventure/Feel Good Flick
  • Some of my all time favourite kinds of movies are the feel good summer movies about teens going on adventures and making some kind of growing leap or major character development over that summer. Like Now and Then, Whip It, The Sandlot, or the Goonies (which yes, I know that one was set in the fall). I feel like the spirit of these kind of movies also embodies a lot of music videos, like SHINee's View, which I really love. Hoshi himself is perfect for this kind of movie because he is a feel good summer adventure in human form. He's all the happiness and bright parts, all the interesting dips and turns in the plot that really keep the movie going. He's all the road trips, all the eating snacks out of crappy gas stations, sleepovers in rickety tree houses, bon fires on the beach, the best kind of montages to a great summer song (maybe Adore U?). Overall he's just a happy, bright little puppy that makes you feel really happy and bright like a great summer vacation and a great summer movie.
  • Wonwoo: Werewolf
  • As much as Wonwoo could be the ultimate emo vampire as well, I believe that his darkness can be channeled into hairy beast of the full moon. I was torn between him and Coups for this genre, but ultimately moody with a touch of puppy cuteness won out over heartthrob. I also feel that he has the mature side of a werewolf thriller or romance, and the silly side for when the genre is targeted toward a younger audience, like the show Teen Wolf (which I love, all time fav). And I mean he's just dreamy, and doesn't everybody have some weird werewolf kinky deep down?
  • Woozi/Jihoon: Magical Fantasy Land
  • My first thought with this one is Harry Potter. Woozi would be the perfect little pastel unicorn prince, slaying enemies with spells and making them bow down just with his cuteness alone. Even if it wasn't specifically Harry Potter, maybe it would be an Alice in Wonderland or Narnia, any magical fantasy would fit his personality and looks perfectly. The adorable shell with a serious, take charge and save the world undertone would belong there and make him the leader of the group or in any position of royalty if there was one - especially if there was some kind of magical "chosen one", he'd be it. Him just generally being ethereal, wise, and talented embodies this genre and if he was in a movie like this I'd watch it over and over again.
  • DK/Seokmin: Superhero Standby
  • There's nothing better than a good, classic superhero movie. Even the ones that are being made and coming out in 2015 seem to have all the classic elements to them, and that's what makes them so easy to love. Just like DK - he's a very classic kind of guy. Classic looks, classic humor, appears very easy going and easy to be around. That's why he would fit perfectly into the world of any classic DC or Marvel superhero (personally I'd go for DC, but that's just my preference). He could slip seamlessly into the role of ordinary citizen by day, and tall, handsome, muscled city saviour by night. His hero would be charismatic, loved by all, and not only treat the citizens as victims, but as everyday people that he loved and cared for. And if we really wanted to stir things up in this genre, DK wouldn't be the hero - he could be the shy, polite damsel in distress to our heroic female protagonist. Either way, Seokmin as a person has all the qualities of this genre - the humor, the drama, the energy, and the overall childish glamour that draws us all to loving superheroes and their adventures.
  • Mingyu: Low Budget Indie/Grunge Film
  • This is a very specific style of film-making, rather than a genre, that Mingyu (especially with his gorgeous silver hair) would fit into so brilliantly. There is a bit of cross-over between this and feel good summer movies, with movies like The Kings of Summer or Moonrise Kingdom, but the more unique thing I find about this genre is that the subject matter of these movies (mostly) is a lot darker. Usually of the nature of drug use and sex and abusive relationships. And what would our happy little Mingyu have to do with movies like this? It's really more about his aesthetic. Movies like this are all about aesthetic - there's entirely blogs dedicated to grunge, and a lot of movie screen caps end up on there - and his looks fit in perfectly. The sharply chiseled jaw, dark, smoky eyes, built form, and most of all, the silvery hair that really says grunge king. That and in my opinion, in the setting of one of these movies, he could turn on a dime from happy-go-lucky into the mystery, badass, soul punk that the story calls for. With an outfit change he could slip right into the world of a movie like How I Live Now, Hick, The Basketball Diaries, or a show like Freaks and Geeks.
  • The8/Minghao: Something Supernatural
  • One of the genres I definitely wanted to use was a supernatural one. Seemingly ordinary people having extraordinary powers (like the movie Push), demons and angels living in the suburbs, basically anything that would be the everyday plot of an anime. In this world, Minghao would be perfect in the role of the protagonist's best friend, the one who undoubtedly panics when he finds out what's really lurking in his world. But the protagonist would have nowhere else to go, no one else to turn to, possibly running from the government because of your abnormality, and you knew that Minghao would have your back. So you told him, disclosed to him all the freaky shit that goes on just under his nose, and at first he'd freak out. He'd deny it, he wouldn't really be able to cope. But then his heart would be right there in it. He would protect you no matter what, until his dying breath, doing anything to make sure you were safe. He would be the air of lightness, innocence, and maybe even comic relief that this genre needs.
  • Seungkwan and Vernon: Buddy Cop Movie
  • I know it might seem a little cheap to have two of them under the same genre, but you can't tell me these two wouldn't be the perfect pair of buddy cops. Just like Starsky and Hutch or the girls from The Heat, they'd have the perfect combination of bickering and die hard friendship to make their movie interesting and heartwarming. Seungkwan would be the paper work minded, rule driven, uptight cop that would be 100% about justice and putting the bad guy away, but doing it right. He would probably have some cheesy sap story from when he was a child about why he wanted to join the force in the first place that Vernon would brush off, but it would really get him in the gut. Vernon himself would be more of a dirty cop. He'd have more of a skewed idea of justice, but he'd get his bad guy no matter what it took. He would also be one to make jokes and ignore his paper work and this would bug the hell out of Seungkwan to no end. Together they would be the perfect cops, always get their man (or woman), and have a few laughs along the way. (Personally I would kill for this movie but that's just me.)
  • Dino/Chan: A Chosen One Story
  • This is the Divergent, Maze Runner, or maybe even Hunger Games type of story. Even though stories like this can vary drastically in their setting and details of plot, they usually do have a lot of aspects in common. Dino has all the traits of a protagonist in this kind of story; being young and uncertain, but having a great, strong heart and likely being able to overcome whatever is thrown at him with a smile. Even if he himself wasn't the Chosen One, he would make a great supporting character/best friend to the protagonist. I'm not really sure how else to go about explaining this, but Chan would be such a great character in a movie or even a series like this.
that essay I promised...

I will admit there are many good things and interesting concepts in the new book Tigerheart’s Shadow, and while there are many technical flaws, objectively speaking there are probably worse special editions out there. However…that being said I can’t help but admit that this may be one of my least favorite warriors books to date. All because of one very special thing: The protagonist. If you are willing to join me on this long journey of exploring the borderline irrational depths of my seething hatred for this fictional one dimensional tiger-clone, feel free to proceed, but be warned it is very long and unorganized. (as usual)

Disney World- 5

Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4

The next day, Betty decided that Adam wasn’t going to ruin her trip anymore. They only had two days until they left, and some stupid boy drama wasn’t going to ruin it. And if she needed to, Veronica had offered to dump their two boyfriends together if she was in any need of girl time.

Betty hopped out of the bed that they shared as soon as the alarm started to blare in her ear. She already knew what she was going to wear, so excited to go and see the animals and the rollercoasters. She pulled on her jean shorts and her grey t-shirt, placing her Minnie Mouse ears over her flowing blonde hair. She quickly brushed her teeth and turned on the TV before grabbing a banana and walking over to Jughead’s side of the bed and shaking him awake.

He finally got up and padded over to the bathroom, but not before watching Must Do Disney again. Betty sat down on the fluffy bed while waiting for him, and pulled her phone over from her bedside table to check her messages. She had a few from her mom which she instantly answered, one from a number she wasn’t familiar with, and one from Adam. She opened the one from Adam but instantly regretted it once she read it.

Ok, makes sense. But if you see me at the parks, it’s just a coincidence ;)

Betty knew that Adam wanted to see her again, but she just wanted to hang out with her best friends in the happiest place on earth. She went back to her messages and opened the one from the unknown number.

Hi Betty! This is Leslie, Lucy’s mom. She has been talking non stop about you and I was wondering if you would be willing to see her again? We are staying in Disney world and will be spending half the day in Animal Kingdom and the other half in Magic Kingdom. We would love to see you and Jughead again!

Betty read the text over and over again, smiling at the fact that the little girl she helped wanted to see her and her boyfriend again. She walked over to the bathroom to make sure that Jughead would be ok if they hung out with Lucy and her parents for a bit during the day.

“Hey Jug?” Betty asked, poking her head through the door into the where the shower was.

“Yeah?“ She heard from the shower, along with the sound of splashing water on tile.

“Lucy’s mom asked if we could spend some time with Lucy today. She hasn’t stopped talking about us.” Betty said, smiling at the sweet message that the mother sent her.

“Yeah! Of course, I would love to.” Jughead said as he turned the shower off, stopping the sound of water. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist before stepping out of the shower, beads of water dripping off of his hair onto his chest.

Betty stepped out of the bathroom, going back to her spot on the king sized bed.

Hi Leslie, Jughead and I would love to spend more time with Lucy today! We are actually spending all day at Animal Kingdom so just text me when you want to meet up!

As soon as Betty sent the text Jughead came out of the bathroom, now wearing his outfit but his hair still floppy and damp. He shook it out like a dog and rubbed it with a towel before coming over and giving Betty a light kiss on her cheek. She was answering her snapchats from everyone and smiling at her boyfriend.

They were finally ready and slipped their shoes on before heading out and knocking on their best friends door, instantly being greeted by a half naked Archie.

Betty’s eyed went wide as she say Archie standing in the doorway with nothing but what looked like a sheet around his waist. She looked past him and saw dark hair falling over a very bare back, a blanket pulled over just where Veronica’s butt would be.

Before Betty could sputter something out, Jughead pushed her aside and made sure her eyes were covered.

“C’mon dude seriously? Be ready in twenty minutes.” Before Archie could argue, Jughead looked past him and screamed at the naked Veronica in the bed. “Veronica! Get up! You have twenty minutes!” And again, before Veronica could get up and freak out about how she wouldn’t have any time to get ready, Jughead closed the door and went to sit on the same bench Betty was sitting on.

Archie and Veronica had scrambled out of their room, trying to stuff things in their bag while applying sunscreen onto their pale faces.

They finally made their way into the park, smiling at all the little kids dressed in costumes of princesses and other characters. They raced into the back of the park so Jughead and Betty could get on Expedition Everest first. Betty really wanted to make sure that there was no more drama that would ruin their trip.

After a few times on the backwards rollercoaster, Jughead felt like he was going to be sick, so they stopped. But, only for a little bit. They would definitely be going on it again later in the day.

It was about 11, and Betty finally got a reply from Leslie about Lucy.

Hi Betty! We are now in Animal Kingdom about to have lunch at the Yak & Yeti. If you and your boyfriend are interested in joining us, we would love to have you! If you already have plans, we can meet up later today :)

Betty smiled at the sweet message of the older woman and turned to look at Jughead, who was not sitting on a rock with his head in his hands.

“Hey Jug,” Betty said, sitting down on the crooked rock next to him. “So we can go and join Lucy and her parents for lunch if you want. Maybe food will make you feel better.”

“Yeah sure! I’m starving!” Jughead said, his head instantly snapping up at the mention of food. He got up from the rock and reached his hand out for Betty to grab, but instead she just giggled.

“I have to answer her silly.” Betty said, pulling her phone out of her back pocket.

We would love that! We we’re just planning on eating at a quick service, but this sounds much better! We are heading over there right now.

Betty stood up from the rock and grabbed Jughead’s hand, pulling him towards the restaurant. About two minutes later, they were almost tackled to the ground by the cutest little girl that they have ever seen.

“Betty! Jughead!” Lucy yelled, nuzzling her face into both of their shoulders.

“Hey Lucy!” Betty said, lightly pulling away from the hug to look at the blonde girls face. Her hair was down today, and was tucked underneath a Mickey Mouse baseball hat. She had light jean shorts on and a T-shirt that had the face of Dug on it.

“Hey Lucy.” Jughead said, tapping the brim of her hat, making it fall over her eyes a bit.

“You guys are coming to lunch with us, right?” Lucy said, a light glint in her eye. She looked between Jughead and Betty, a huge smile right under her button nose.

Betty looked to Jughead, a smile forming on her face as well. “Of course we are! Let’s go to your parents so we can get our table.” The three stood up, Lucy holding both of the teenagers hands. They made their way to the entrance of the restaurant where they said their hello’s to Lucy’s mom.

They made their way to the table, and instantly Betty and Jughead decided that they were going to share a chicken tikka masala with extra rice and extra naan bread.

Throughout the lunch, Betty, Jughead and Lucy’s parents made small talk about what they’ve been doing on the trip, why they were there, and when talking with Lucy, who their favourite characters are, what their favourite parks are, and everything else that has something to do with Disney, or Harry Potter.

After the lunch was over, Betty and Jughead met up with Veronica and Archie to go on more rides. They walked around the park and went shopping in different gift shops, laughing when they each tried on different outfits and hugging different toys. They also went around and met Russel and Dug from UP, and went on different rides like It’s tough to be a bug, Primeval Whirl, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Dinosaur.

It was about 6 o’clock, and there was two hours until the park closed and they had to get home.  Archie and Veronica went and sat on one of the rocks that was right outside of Expedition Everest. They decided that going on It once in the morning was enough for their stomachs.

Since the park was almost at its closing time, the wait time for the roller coaster was only five minutes, so Betty decided that she would go on it many many times.

After about five times of screaming while going backwards, Jughead said that his head was hurting and he also had to go to the bathroom, so he hopped out of the line and let Betty go on it once by herself.

“Are you ok going by yourself?” Jughead asked, making his way to the bathroom.

“Yeah of course! I’m feeling great.” Betty said, jumping up and down in the line. “I’ll see you after.”

Jughead made his way to the bathroom, but then soon realized that his phone was still one the rock with Veronica and Archie. He ran back quickly, and once he grabbed his phone and turned to go back into the bathroom, he noticed a head of brown hair and a blonde ponytail bobbing up and down, the two faces way to close for Jughead’s taste.

He whipped his head away from the two heads so fast that his beanie almost slipped off of his rather greasy hair. He ran to the bathroom and closed his eyes in front of the mirror, trying to get the image of Betty and Adam out of his head.

After a while he realized that his friends were going to be waiting for him, and the park was also going to be closing soon, so he took one deep breath and left the bathroom to go and meet his best friends who were probably waiting for him.

As soon as he left the bathroom, Archie ran into him. Like actually ran into him.

“Jug where have you been?” Archie said, pulling him towards the two girls. “The park is closing and we want to go home and watch a movie before we go to bed.”

“Can we switch rooms?” Jug said, stopping in his tracks.

Archie stopped walking and looked behind him at his best friend.”Why? Is their something going on with you and Betty?” Jughead just nodded at his best friend, starting to walk back to the girls. Jughead knew that Archie understood and he would help his best friend. They both reached the rock and Archie, Betty and Veronica all smiling at the dark teen.

“Let’s go!” Betty said, hopping up from her spot, trying to clutch on to Jughead’s arm with no luck. He tucked his arm close to his chest so she wasn’t able to wrap her arms around his. After she realized that he needed his space she slowed down her walking so she was behind him with Veronica, and Archie took her spot next to her boyfriend.

“So what’s going on with you and Betty?” Archie said, bumping Jughead’s shoulder with his own.

“Just some drama with Adam. He totally wants her but she just won’t believe it.” Jughead said, taking a small look at the two girls behind him. “I think I just need some guy time. So, can we switch rooms?” Jughead asked, and Archie could see how much he needed it.

“Sure. You go get in line for the buses and I’ll talk to the girls.” Archie said, letting the raven haired boy go into the line for their resort.

“Hey Betty, V, can me and Jughead share a room tonight?” Archie said, walking in between the two best friends.

“Why?” Betty said, worry filling her beautiful blue eyes.

“We just need some guy time. Don’t you two want some girl time?”Archie asked, wrapping his arms around the two girls.

“Yeah I guess so. B! We can do those face masks that I brought!” Veronica said, looking over her boyfriend to Betty.

Betty had a small smile on her face, but Veronica could see the nervousness and sadness in her eyes. “Yeah, ok. Sounds good.”

They finally made their way off of the bus and split into twos, heading to the two rooms that they were sharing.

“Night Jug, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Night Betty.”

motleysaint  asked:

Do you like LWYMMD or Ready For It more? Which do you think is better?

Stacy!! Thank you for this question! I got so excited about it that my brain kind of broke and I couldn’t respond at first. (This is my standard response to writing about Taylor by the way; everything becomes Too Much™ and I can’t remember how to write clearly.) I’ve been working on this in pieces. If it seems disjointed, that’s why.

My gut reaction to this question is to say that Ready For It is both the objectively better song and also my personal favorite of the two. (Here’s my long post on it if you are interested.) And yet. While I’m *pretty* sure that’s still true, I keep wavering.

I’ve gone through a lot of stages with LWYMMD so I’m at the point where my feelings are very layered. :D (As is usually the case with Taylor.)

First off, I still don’t like the message that it sends, both because I think it’s unnecessarily petty about a situation which she handled badly (Snapchat Gate) and because her dredging up old drama for her first single in three years (!!) is not a great look for her. At all. She had a huge opportunity to do something new here- thematically speaking- and she didn’t. That’s still disappointing to me even if every Taylor fan ever tries to tell me that it’s actually a genius move.

Secondly, the song itself is a mixed-bag. It’s very uneven. I don’t like the chorus. I think it’s bad. And not least because it isn’t actually her! It is literally not her. It’s Right Said Fred’s chorus! (I do appreciate that she credited them.) But at the same time…it slithers its way into your brain. If you really lean into it, it fits a mood I’m sure we all feel sometimes- petty, taunting, a little bit self-congratulatory. A mood you can revel in even if you probably shouldn’t. So to a degree she still does exactly what she set out to do with this song.

Thirdly, the lyrics are pretty solid. Not her absolute best, but pretty good. The images are strong and unusual and slightly old-fashioned (her M.O) (catch Taylor referencing an IPhone she would nEVER). Perfect crime, tilted stage, and all the references to kingdoms and feasts and dramatically being locked out- these feel right and very Taylor. Her delivery in this song is what really elevates the lyrics though. (In general I think her delivery is underrated by fans and critics.) She sells each one of these lines so deliberately and so seriously and her vocal choices are so interesting. My favorite vocal moment in the song comes when she hisses/whispers on the word “they” when referencing the kingdom keys in the second verse. She breathes so much venom into that one line and instantly the verse has so much more texture and color. It’s impressive!

Buuut to return to the first point: I’m still uninterested in much of the actual lyrical content. However creatively she tries to phrase it, she’s still pointing the finger and assigning blame. At this particular moment I’m not interested in discussing whether or not she’s right to do that. (Who am I kidding i will FIGHT you in the parking lot if you really think that Taylor is never at fault, especially in reference to Snapchat Gate.) The point is that her doing that is tired and it’s worn out. She’s done it before, better than this and with more justification and with more fire. I’m pretty comfortable calling the overall message of this song a misstep- artistically as well as personally.

But for all that I think there are quite a few moments of magic in this song, moments where for a few seconds the song really comes alive and makes you understand what this whole thing COULD have been if she had rethought some things. Not incidentally, these are the same moments where she hints at feeling something more complicated than outrage for another person’s actions. I want to say it’s “where she takes accountability for her own involvement” but it’s probably more accurate to say it’s “where she briefly flirts with the idea of personal accountability”. (John Fahr

Moments of accountability are important to me both because I think they more accurately reflect the whole truth but also because they make a song more interesting to me! She’s so good at blending emotions together and giving you something that’s layered. Her happiness is always a little sad. Her sadness can be cheeky. Her anger can be full of obvious relish. When she admits that she’s wrong, she becomes a hundred times more interesting as an artist in part because she’s embracing the layers of being angry at another person AND at yourself. She’s showing that she’s not and doesn’t have to be one thing. When she points fingers (again however justified you think it is), she becomes increasingly one-note. It falls flat because there’s only one thing happening. When she acknowledges the role she has played in a situation, everything becomes more textured, more interesting, more truthful.

In my opinion she doesn’t do that enough in this song. @thelonelybrilliance perfectly pointed out that it should have been ended with the line “look what I made me do” and GAH. How perfect would that have been!! How beautiful!! How clever!! how TRULY subversive!! (Unless we think she’s talking to herself when she says “look what you made me do”. Which would be an awesome twist I would love!! There’s not a lot to back that up and we can’t know that until we’ve got more context so for now I’m taking her seriously. Anyway.) My point is, no, she doesn’t do that nearly enough but she does it some and it matters. It is not unimportant because nothing she includes in a song is unimportant. (Sidenote: is the fact that Taylor is so serious about herself part of her appeal? Is it also what makes her grate? Discuss.)

The Moments of Magic are as follows:

1. But I got smarter I got harder in the nick of time
Honey I rose up from the dead I do it all the time
I got a list of names and yours is in red underlined
I check it once, I check it twice- OH!

Pretty self-explanatory. This is a killer pre-chorus that deserves a better song. It’s heart-thumping and exciting it makes you think that you’re headed for an amazing pop explosion AND she compares herself to Santa and references Mean girls in the same line- which may be the most Taylor Swift thing to ever have happened? (No really, is this not the most on-brand, authentic, amazing, and hilarious thing to happen? I love it.)

2. The world moves on- another day another drama
But not for me, not for me all I think about is karma
And then the world moves on but one thing’s for sure

Maybe I got mine but you’ll all get yours

This is a lot of people’s favorite line/part. Because it’s instantly iconic and hilarious and recognizable. I love it because it’s the first time in the song where she even begins to deviate from her blame game and also because it’s dripping with sarcasm and exaggeration and a hint of self-mockery (as well as mockery of fame and gossip in general?).  I was talking to @thelonelybrilliance about this line and she was saying that if Taylor means this perfectly seriously, she has to know how sad that is, right? Anyone sitting around fixating on “getting revenge” and “karma” while the world moves on around them is, to an extent, pathetic. It’s understandable but it is pathetic. That’s why I think that, even though seriousness is part of Taylor’s brand and personality, she might mean this more on a performative level? (Maybe?) The word choices feel too mocking to me. It’s almost lighthearted in the caricature it draws. She knows what we think of her feuds, that we’re all tired of them, that the world literally moves on, that we think she gets too caught up in “drama, drama”. She herself shares some of that scorn. And I do think it is scorn underscoring these lines- scorn that is directed both at herself and at the celebrity gossip cycle that she participates in so willingly most of the time. She sounds a little sick of it all honestly and I love it. Yes the grudge and the bitterness and the force of Taylor’s anger and “never forget this” attitude is still there. But is there a hint, a faint suggestion that she’s tired of her own inability to forgive and forget holding her down and keeping her fettered to this drama, drama? It’s not the focus of this song, which is straightforward in its “I will HUNT YOU DOWN AND TAKE WHAT’S MINE” cry for vengeance. But still.

Maybe I got mine is a grudging line that is passed over quickly in favor of but you’ll all get yours (-a great line that manages to be both quietly threatening and full of open swirling anger at the same time) so it’s not the most direct admission of guilt. But it IS one and I love it so much. It’s one of her “throw-away” phrases- you’re not supposed to dwell on it- but in the grand tradition of Taylor Swift it’s the throwaway lines that tell the greatest stories. They add layers and credibility to her original story because they suggest that human interactions are rarely simple or easy, but have deep and complicated roots.

Remember that line in “Tell me why”? Yes I remember what you said last night. GOSH. It makes the whole song for me. She’s referencing something we don’t know anything about so even though it seems like it doesn’t belong in the song, that line is the thing that makes the song great. It’s a truth of being human that people can’t ever fully understand another person’s fights or struggles from the outside. Every relationship is made up of a history known only to the two involved. A whole slew of looks and actions, previous fights, inside jokes, of the knowledge that comes with living a life with another human being are all a part of every personal fight, almost creating it. from the inside out. To explain everything that’s happening in a fight to an outsider is almost impossible. But to remind someone listening in -in this case us- that there’s more going on than they (we) may know about is to lay bare the truth that we seldom know the rich, inner history of another person’s heart and experiences.

So I take this throw-away line, Maybe I got mine, as one of the most important in the entire song- both because I really, really want to see more of this side of Taylor and also because it makes me see this song in a new light. As only one piece of a larger puzzle. As only one perspective on a situation. When I think of it that way, I understand her anger better, especially when applied to her situation more broadly. But you’ll all get yours makes perfect, righteous sense when directed at bandwagon taylor haters, bored teenagers on twitter writing hateful things, or buzzfeed writers who decide to use her as human sounding board for their political discussions and critiques.

3. I don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me

I think everyone agrees this is the best part of the song. Or at least in the running. It’s a great moment musically and lyrically. When I heard the song for the first time, I was struck the most by this line. To me, this was the first line that really showed what I felt was going on in her heart. (Maybe I got mine comes closest but this one is more revelatory.) It’s intensely personal. I feel that it cuts right to the heart of what I imagine she was feeling after the Kimye situation spun out of control. I’d guess it’s what she has felt and continues to feel with every acceleration of her fame (even though Taylor definitely wants to be famous.) It’s a really sad line. It’s lonely. It’s isolating. It’s cold. On the surface that’s not what it is of course. On the surface it’s guarded and it’s coy and a touch triumphant, sung like this (and she) is a mystery she’s happy to be. It definitely feels like a deliberate closing of the curtain into her personal life, a shot that says “no one knows the truth because my situation is too unique” so I’ll embrace a part for you. (She literally follows it up with I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams.) This line is why I understand why Brian Mansfield calls this song “a wall she sends up to protect herself”. And it is. But all of that can be true and it can still be a heartbreaking sentiment, something that on some level really hurts her. I think the fact that nobody trusts her hurts her just as much as not being able to trust anybody else. Even if some of that is her fault.

I also love this line because it feels like the first time (maybe ever) that Taylor has openly engaged with the idea of her fame. Even though it’s a tiny moment, to me it showcases the two things that have always been the most fascinating about her as a celebrity: her eagerness to perform, to be the best, to climb those heights (the video is great in that it literally shows her doing that) and the pain that comes with the cost of being at the top. She’s never tapped into that fully before. But I know that it’s there. I know there is a part of her that is hurt by the heights of her own success. Not enough to quench her ambition or her drive and that ruthless desire to be at the very top, but enough to sting. Enough to chafe.

AND

4. the background vocals and layers added the second time the pre-chorus comes around

One reviewer pointed out that the song gets louder as it goes and adds more and more layers until it’s a beautiful, stormy crescendo. I think it’s brilliant.

[But then. That chorus. Again. So disappointing. It’s flat and weird and doesn’t even make any sense and ughhhhhhhh.]

Aaaaaand there you go. That pretty much sums up my feelings on this song. It has flashes of brilliance and definitely flashes of the old Taylor. (She’s dead? Uh-uh. Yeah rIGHT. In some ways this is the most Taylor Swift-est of Taylor Swift songs. :D)

Really, I can’t wait until I can hear the whole album so I can put this song in proper context. I know what I want that context to look like. I want reputation to show us more of her inner pain. I want it to be an album that is about the cost of fame as much as it is about getting back at those who dehumanize her to make a point (or score points on social media). But who knows?

If I can count on anything, it’s that Taylor probably won’t do what I want her to do, but I’ll have thoughts and opinions and feelings anyway. :D

Speaking of, thank you for wanting to hear mine and for saying you’d read it no matter how long it was. I hope you enjoy this!

Admin A’s notes: I keep changing my mind about this fic every time I rec it. I mean I love the start of this fic since you all know my love for homeless Cas and all that,  but towards the end the drama just becomes a little too over the top and unnecessary… which is why I keep knocking off some stars from this story.

Summary:  When Dean is walking home from work one night he hears a cry come from a nearby alley. He is shocked to discover a man, homeless and in labor. Can Dean offer Castiel the chance he deserves, and will Castiel accept it?

Admin A’s notes: I don’t usually like fics like these with feminization of male characters and stuff but this was pretty good.

Summary:  At 35 Castiel Novak is a successful professor, firmly established both in the academic world and a sought after voice in many recent gender debates. After a failed marriage he spent almost 15 years striving to get somewhere in life and there simply had never been time or an interest for romance. Not having a partner wasn’t something that ever bothered Castiel, but he can no longer shake the feeling of something lacking in his life. He decides that maybe it is time to have a child of his own. What he doesn’t want though is the hassle of a relationship. Egged on by his mischievous cousin he publishes a personal ad in a newspaper, looking for a young man to help him out.

Dean, almost 30, stumbles over the announcement right after he ran away from his last relationship. He is in dire need of money to set up his own business and he decides to go with it. A couple of thousand dollars for knocking up some quirky professor seems easy enough. Of course it isn’t.

Dealing with his supernatural, trouble-making clients and the ridiculous coffee shop his vampire room-mate wants to turn part of Dean’s house into seems far easier than deciding just what he and Castiel are supposed to be.

Admin A’s notes: I loved the start of this fic with whump Cas being “saved” by strong alpha Dean, but then all that unnecessary drama started again and I sort of had to force myself to keep reading. But that’s just my opinion and you should again check it out because I’m probably just being weird again.

Summary: Dean Winchester is an alpha cop. He’s got a soft spot for omegas with kids and a short fuse when it comes to people hurting them. When he signs in for his shift, his first call is to a break-in in a well to do suburban neighborhood. He meets Castiel Novak and his young son, Alfie. Someone has broken in to Castiel’s house and scent marked.

Castiel is unwilling to offer much information about himself or his life. Dean’s happy not to push, but his partner Benny thinks that Castiel might know more about who broke into his house than he’s willing to admit.

As Dean tries to get Castiel to open up to him, he finds himself drawn to the omega. But Castiel has to be mated, right? He already has a kid.

Or at least, that’s what Dean believes.

Title: Biological Imperative

Author: ashitanoyuki

Rating: Explicit

Words: 68,016 – Finished

Admin’s assessment: ★ ★ ★

Admin A’s notes: This is something a little different with Dean and Cas both being omegas. I sort of like this take of ABO verse where Dean being an omega who’s attracted to other omegas is struggling to come in terms with his feelings. Also abused Cas is a major win for me :’D

Summary: Alpha, Beta, Omega. From childhood they learn their goals and their purpose. It is all about the biological imperative, the drive to carry on the species. Everything else is secondary.

Dean Winchester is sure that he is a freak of nature. A proper Omega is interested in Alphas and Betas. A proper Omega yearns for children and family and everything else that goes along with carrying on the human race. It’s wrong for an Omega to be interested in other Omegas, to desire a fruitless union of sterility and nothingness.

Castiel MacLeod made a terrible mistake in marrying Fergus Crowley MacLeod, and every day that he and his son live with his traditionalist husband, he regrets his rash decision. When his son is taken from him, he runs, seeking out anyone who will help him.

Dean Winchester is not sure what exactly drives him to help the strange, abused Omega who shows up on his doorstep in the dead of night, but as he grows closer to the man, he cannot help but wonder if there is more to love than simple biology.

Bell, Book and Candle by skittidyne

Magic, Witches, Supernatural Hunters, Ghosts, multiple ships

Suga’s life currently consists of doing odd jobs for Kiyoko (usually herding lost ghosts into the afterlife) and being a cat dad. He’s fine with this. So, of course, it can’t last. It all starts with a fake luck spirit haunting an unsuspecting kid—no, it starts with an immigrant witch trying to summon an uncontracted demon—or maybe it starts with the tengu eggs and the selkie thief—no, Suga knows it probably started three years ago and it’s just now falling down around his ears.
TT: If anyone is curious, I am probably the person who has reread bbac completely the most. And if anyone wants to challenge me, then I will just reread it again (please challenge me). This is genuinly my favourite work of fiction, including published work. I would be surprised if someone has not read it yet, but if you haven’t go make yourself a favour and read it. Warning: forget about your life for about three days, because it is LONG.

Maybe the rookies will be the ones to turn the tide of the war.
TT: This is just a masterpiece. I am pretty sure y'all have read it, but if not then do it, it’s almost as if it was part of fandom lore or something. It is also quite long, so make a gap in your schedule.

Daredevil on the Slope by Smokey310

Skiing, Polyamory, future!fic, bokuakakurotsukki

„Seriously. What kind of supernatural being did I piss off to deserve this,“ sighed Tsukishima on their way up to the mountain. Akaashi sat next to him in the little chair lift and watched the trails of small paw prints disappear between the clusters of fir trees. The snow glittered in the sun, the air was icy fresh and everything would have been picture perfect if it wasn’t for the intruder shaking his snowboard around in the third seat.
“Are you talking about me?” asked Tanaka, whom Tsukishima was very obviously talking about.
“Do you see any other people which the devil would have sent to punish me?”
“There’s some right behind us,” said Tanaka, pointing to the following chair lift filled with an excitedly jumping Bokuto, a maniacally smiling Nishinoya and Kuroo who sat in the middle and looked like he contemplated jumping into the treetops below.
Well – he did have a point there.
TT: Read all of the series, it is fabulous. I don’t tend to like ships with tsukki, but this is so well written that I just fell in love with their interactions. Bokuakakurotsukki golden work. Also, it’s just so hilarious, some of the chapters made me laugh hard enough that my roommate had to ask me if I was dying.

or: oikawa’s always loved aliens but never thought he’d actually fall in love with one
TT: The alien Au that the fandom needed, but doesn’t deserve. This is SO good. I just love it so much. There is also a bunch of sidepairings which are amazing, but the iwaoi is incredibly cute.

The Chronicles of Our Mistakes by Mehhh

Magic, Supernatural, Urban fantasy, multiple ships

Things don’t go bad with one big fuck up, one big mistake. No, things go bad because a series of steps were taken to a certain point of time where all those little missteps you took down the path come snowballing at you.
And that one day (night) where you find yourself walking to certain doom with three witches who, at some point, had the idea you enjoyed their company, you think back to your steps, wondering which ones brought you to this moment. Little ‘perhaps’ and little 'maybes’ float around your head as you try to find the answer.
Perhaps it was walking into that accursed apartment, laying your eyes on the stunning (brutal), raven haired boy that was currently on your right. Maybe it was learning that first spell, the one that made you feel nauseous but excited at the same time, all due to the grey haired angel (devil) currently on your left. It was most likely meeting the intelligent (insane), Oikawa Tooru, who was currently walking ahead of you, leading your merry (fucked) band of misfits into a portal to hell.
TT: (For those who are picky about second person POV don’t worry, because the story is not written in the same POV than the summary.) The story is hilarious, and amazing, and page-turner (or screen-scroller, i guess) and incredibly good. The supernatural elements are amazing, and the universe that is built is so, so interesting. And I remember that one chapter made me laugh so much that I managed to wake up my roommate.

And that’s it folks. There are loads more that I wish to put down, but I kinda spent most of my time rereading bits and pieces of these fics and now don’t really have more time. I will make more lists of amazings WIPs in the future, so if there is one you love and haven’t spoke of please send me a link :D Do not forget to leave comments to these lovely writters and subscribe. (if any of the links doesn’t work please tell me so I can correct them asap, or if i made some typo)

Hi! I saw some of your recent asks and thought I'd ask why you don't like AU's or swap, etc.? I'm honestly just curious and you always have such well-formed, articulate thoughts and ideas (I enjoy your blog and art very much). Thanks again for everything you do! <3

I should preface this by saying, I can still enjoy some of the AU fanworks if they’re done well enough, or still manage to capture the magic of the original game. UnderFell started out that way, like an extra hard mode pacifist run, and I still have a soft spot for most Fell!Paps artworks that depict him as trying REALLY HARD to be an edgelord, but not being very good at it. Tsundere Paps presses my buttons.

And like, the mere sight of them doesn’t offend me, it’s more of a “meh, this doesn’t excite me” feeling.

But generally, it’s because they feel so far removed from the source, it’s like something else entirely.

The characters almost never feel like their original counterparts? And often they take themselves very seriously, with themes of abuse and death and being tortured. I’m not against those things, I enjoy a good angsty fic now and then. But it’s not typically what’s on my mind when I want to look at Undertale stuff, you know?

I should say– Undertale is delightful and warm and human in a way that most stories aren’t. I want more of that rare feeling it gave me. If I wanted straight up angst or straight up silliness, there are tons of other things around me that I could go for.

My other, and probably biggest, barrier is that they’re almost ALL ABOUT SANS.

I love Sans. I love Sans Having Problems™. In the past year, this blog has been like, 80% Sans.

But I like thinking about him with the other characters. I like thinking about how they all influence each other, how they all populate this world and make it full. How they’d all grow and change after going to the surface. It’s not just about him being the hero or having a sad or overcoming his dark and certainly unpleasant past. How do the other elements of the story shape him? He doesn’t exist in a void. his dad does

Most of the AUs seem to forget that anyone exists besides the skelebros? Even to the point where there are some AUs made up of many different versions of Sans. …Iiiiii’m just not interested.

The blueberry annoys me the most because I feel like the basis of his popularity is “Sans is my favorite, but the best character in the game is Papyrus. You know what would make Papyrus better? Making him Sans.” That’s just… not compelling to me in the slightest. His design is cute tho’! I’ll concede that.

Swap in particular seems to flatten everyone into caricatures of themselves. A lot of the nuance and complexity is lost.

I like AUs like StoryShift, where it nails the feeling and tone of the game. The characters are still in-character, even if they’re shifted around into different roles. And there’s been a few more minor ones that felt ‘right’.

I’m not against big deviations from the source. It just… has to have something in common with it more than Sans’ face. You know, some of the love that made the original special.

…It’s comparable to how I feel about the Wizard of Oz. I love the whimsy of the original books, and even the original movie. It’s frustrating to watch all these modern movies and shows come out that completely ignore that whimsy, as if it’s undesirable and the only parts worth saving are the character names and locations.

I want more of the magical, nonsensical “it just is”-ness of the original. Go on an adventure and make lots of wacky friends along the way. I’m not here for the drama. I’m sure there are lots of people out there that prefer that, and that’s fine. But for me… no thanks.
