I can not wait for the love at first sight the time of slowburn is over this a new Bellarke (in the bottom is still the same) but more mature and 100% action ;)
I’m still not happy with the separation and time jump but I can understand how it solved some of the apocalypse problems and I also understand how it reboots the storyline so they can work with new dynamics and will have new stories to tell. They get to see the fallout of all those past choices without having to take it every step of the way…. which they would have to do otherwise, because that’s the way this story is told. It doesn’t let people off the hook for their mistakes, so we have to watch them struggle to deal with everything they’ve done. We’ll get the reunion story instead of the “finally we get to be together without the pressures of war.” To be honest, the reunion is a better love story than the getting together after the war story, so that’s not a bad thing.
Now, we get them all after a 6 year break. Fine, we don’t get to follow the character development that they set up *shaking my head in disappointment* but we’ll get to watch the results of that, and see where it leads. So we’ll get Bellamy who is more holistic after living for 6 years in peacetime without the grinding weight of responsibility for Octavia or the delinquents or the apocalypse. We’ll get Clarke who has spent 6 years building her relationship for another person, rather than isolating herself, although she’s also been isolated (which I think will be important).
BELLARKE, is going to have these personal character developments, where they both got to rest from the trauma inflicted upon them for their whole lives, and they’ll have been able to process all their guilt and horror from their own choices. And they’re going to be adults, no question. And they’re going to be beyond the grief from the years that have past.
And they’re going to be missing the other. It’s not a guarantee that someone separates from someone they used to care about and misses them for 6 years. Not a guarantee at all. Lots of people move on and shift their attention to someone else. Lots of loved ones fade into memory, even sad ones, and people move on and that’s good and even right.
But we have canon evidence that Clarke did NOT move on. Clarke was still focused on Bellamy, the Bellamy she once knew and who he was to her. And Bob has told us that Bellamy thought of Clarke every day and it broke his heart every day, so while not canon, that gives us a good indication of where Bellamy’s head will be when we come back. And it will still be filled with Clarke, even if he’s living in the present day with current people and daily concerns. Clarke never left him.
And so what happens when two people who have never forgotten the other but are busy with very important daily lives with very important people and very important concerns and their own goals, get back together?
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY SEE EACH OTHER?
WHAT HAPPENS OMG I CAN’T HANDLE IT?
