@sonatine tagged me for the WIP game and specifically requested the Natasha/Sharon Weird Neighbor fic, which I don’t have a first line for yet, so here’s a chunk of dialogue from the middle:
“Nobody smiles that much in real life.”
“Yeah, smiling sure sounds suspicious,” Steve said dryly.
“I agree. So I set up cameras and mics in the laundry room.”
There was a moment of silence during which Natasha could hear Steve making his Captain America is Disappointed In You face. “You did what?”
“What? It’s weird. She’s weird. I just want to figure out what she’s doing.“
"Is she cute?”
“How is that relevant?”
“Okay, let me try that again,” Steve said. “Are you evaluating a legitimate security threat in your building, or are you stalking your neighbor because you think she’s cute?”
“Projecting much, Steve?”
“Hey, I approached Sam on a public sidewalk–”
“–after creeping on his morning run for three months before you ever talked to him–”
“–I didn’t set up surveillance in his apartment’s laundry room.”
“It’s my laundry room, too. Don’t I have the right to bug my own laundry room?”
“I know I missed out on a lot of legal milestones while I was in the ice, but somehow I don’t think that was one of them.”
“You think I’m overreacting.”
“Is she cute?”
“Ughhhh.” Natasha sprawled over the couch, hugged a throw pillow to her chest, and considering smothering herself with it. “She’s so cute, Steve. So cute.”
“There we go.”
“She has dimples.”
“Oh, no,” Steve said, with genuine sympathy.
I’ve added words to four WIPs within the last week, and this one’s the newest, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the shortest, so it might get finished first. We’ll see how it goes!
