but just as essential

The one thing I was kind of disappointed about in Discovery was the idea that Michael’s Vulcan exterior was viewed as something that needed to be peeled away, was something that needed to be broken.  Something that was wrong with Michael.

I understand that for a human, emotional health is essential, but just because someone decides to conduct themselves in accordance with the teachings of Surak doesn’t mean they have bad emotional health.  It is true that both she and Spock struggle but that doesn’t mean the entire philosophy as a whole is bad or wrong.  If someone decides to adopt the teachings of Surak, that choice should be respected.

It is clear in the case of Michael that it was not exactly a choice (and with Spock as well).  But they both end up developing their own form of logic that can exist alongside emotional health.  This is especially apparent in the case of Michael, as she appears to have altered her practice of logic to include some emotion (her logic is informed by emotion, as she tells Sarek).

I think there is a tendency amongst some of the characters (and viewers) of Star Trek to assume just because Vulcans always suppress (or disregard) their emotions that this is always bad.  I don’t think this is the case.  A person’s choice to follow the teachings of Surak shouldn’t be viewed as something to be fixed.  It’s a valid choice that should be respected.

Do people get a sense of who their Voice is before they actually meet them, or is it just a voice that they hear? And are Voices always a potential romantic partner, or can you have a platonic Voice? (also feel free to make this public, I don't mind at all c:)

Hello!

It all depends on the person and their situation. Some people are either skilled enough or lucky enough to be able to push through their dreams and stumble into their Voice’s without outside help. These people are semi-rare, but it does happen.

When that happens, they are able to essentially be an audience to their Voice’s dreams, but they cannot be seen or heard by their Voice. They’re just a fade ghost, essentially, watching their Voice as they dream.

(This is different from a solmniara. Feynriel, for example, can enter dreams and interact at will. If he chooses, the dreamer can either be aware or unaware of his presence. So in By Any Other Name, Feynriel can watch Krem’s dreams without Krem being aware of him, but he can also go into Dorian’s dreams and talk to him, with Dorian fully aware that Feynriel is there.)

What led you to get into WG art and the fetish overall

This is almost a story for another day, like I could TLDR tho and say just.

Basically I always liked girls a bit thicc, and when I sat down to draw, I would keep erasing the body to make them “curvier” until they were just obese. By that point I was essentially making a weight gain sequence. So yea something like that and my on/off fascination with inflation/expansion scenes in cartoons. And the taboo of excessively eating. I think the real push off the cliff though was when i found out there was a community for it on the internet. That’s when it truly went into overdrive.

If one of Sapphire’s twenty boyfriends is done bothering me, I’d like to know if any of you have suggestions on new content? I would love to start writing again, but since there’s at least a handful of other great Dahmer blogs available, I’m not sure what isn’t well known anymore. Also! Looking for ideas to cosplay for @livefromapt213’s giveaway - please suggest things you think I should do. I have some ideas, but I’m wildly indecisive. I just have to dress as a real or fictional villain, essentially.

I think many leftists have a specific eureka moment where they come to realize a crucial fact about a possible post-capitalist world:

While we are trained from childhood on to just assume that more jobs must be good because that means more people are working and therefore eating, we rarely get a point to question WHY we insist on creating systems where we must work any job in order to subsist, regardless of how necessary they are. Like….if workers and communities had democratic management over economic utilities and resources, you could create something where people just get a livable floor regardless, and from there you can focus the economy on literally meeting those needs; from there, why would anyone NEED to work at some desk job in a bureaucratic mess or a Cheetos factory that produces shit food that specifically capitalists can profit from? This doesn’t presuppose a world without entertainment and art and theme parks and passion; it just presupposes that we remove those things from an economic framework that insists we MUST do them for our bread. If our actual JOBS were cut down to just what we NEEDED TO CREATE for a functioning society (essential foods, buildings, transportation, infrastructure, healthcare, education, etc.), then the “side things” that make life interesting can be born from interest rather than necessity. Taking it a step further, automation has the power to liberate us from a plethora of those essential jobs, and with democratic control over the means of production you could actually utilize it for human flourishing rather than capitalist profit. People wouldn’t have to worry about machines taking their jobs – indeed, they’d probably WANT a machine to take their job. That means more time for leisure, family, friends, art, and self-actualization.

To all y’all who wanted V’s route to be him and Rika getting back together

Guess what? Make the right choices during his route, and you get your wish! :) And guess what else? :)

IT’S FUCKING HORRIBLE.

So basically, if you’re enough of an asshole to both V and Rika towards the end of the route, you’ll be treated to a lovely bad ending on Day 10 where V ditches you to go back to Rika. And this bad ending perfectly encapsulates why V and Rika’s relationship is absolutely toxic, has always been toxic, and will always be toxic.

As soon as V shows up at her door, Rika pretty much dissolves into desperate sobbing, telling V that she was wrong and begging him to stay with her. She asks for forgiveness, and promises that she won’t hurt him anymore. So that’s good, right? Everything is lovely and romantic and #relationshipgoals now, right?

In order to gain his forgiveness, Rika offers to let V hurt her now instead.

Yup, that’s right. Now the oh so healthy cycle of domestic abuse is being reversed! Rika tells him that he can do anything that he wants to her, telling him that he can “mangle” her body and complete their “Reunion” photoshoot.

And V agrees. He stays with her, and agrees to hurt her…so that he can protect her (???). Like great, good job guys, now they’re both crazy.

At this point, they both know their relationship isn’t based on love for one another. Rika is desperate to be wanted (by anyone) and V is desperate to find his meaning in providing someone else with “love.” Essentially, they’re just obsessed with the idea of love itself, and very much want to feel love, but are not and have never actually been in love with one another.

I literally do not understand how people can still be romanticizing their relationship. I still see people who are upset that V’s route ended his and Rika’s troo wuv story, and I’m just??? So confused. Because listen. I like Rika. I like V. But their relationship together is actually the worst thing ever™. Unless you literally hate both characters, I don’t see how you could support this pairing. If they get back together, they will destroy each other. In order for either of them to even begin healing/moving towards happiness, this relationship has to end. And that’s why Cheritz gave us the great route that they did.

TL;DR: IF YOU’RE STILL ROMANTICIZING V AND RIKA’S RELATIONSHIP:

Witch Tip

When you anoint candles in essential oil, don’t rub the pure oil on there. Add a couple drops to water or a carrier oil and anoint the candle in that. Add the oil to magical water (like moon or rain water) if you’d like the extra boost.

Reason being, just dousing a candle in essential oil creates a REALLY strong smell. I just made the mistake of unleashing a lemongrass storm inside my apartment. My apologies to my roommate.
