but i really don't like their romantic chemistry

  • THAT person/friend: *walks in* Oh hey, what's up? What're you doing?
  • Me: Uhh, browsing Klance. What does it look like? *thou should leave, peasant.*
  • THAT friend: Oh ew! So you're an anti?!? Freak!
  • Me: *you.. have my attention now...* W-what?!? No! Why would you think I'm an anti??
  • THAT friend: Well everyone knows that the Klance fandom is filled with antis. Klance is overrated anyway. But you wouldn't understand. You're an idiotic anti!!
  • Me: HEY!! Klance may be overrated, but that doesn't stop me from shipping it. I really love this ship, but that doesn't mean I'll attack others for not thinking the same!! Shipping is for fun and it's not supposed to be used as a means of threatening others.
  • THAT friend: But you don't like Sheith!!! You said so yourself!!
  • Me: Actually, I see Keith and Shiro as having a more brotherly relationship. Broganes. Besides, I HAVE in fact liked or reblogged (or both) cute Sheith stuff before.
  • THAT friend: Well, you're TOTALLY against Sh//aladin right? That's anti.
  • Me: Not EVERY relationship is a romantic one. I just see Shiro as more of a father or even idol figure to the paladins. It's still a close bond, but nothing really romantic... To be honest, I personally ship Shiro more with Allura or Matt. Shatt and Shallura are both good for the soul.
  • THAT friend: Kallura though? What do you have against THAT, HUH?
  • Me: I don't really see the chemistry there..? I mean I get that in all versions of Voltron before, Kallura was practically canon, but, in Legendary Defender I don't really see it. As I said, they're more just 'good friends' to me. That doesn't mean I have anything against the ship, it's just that I personally happen to dislike it. That doesn't mean anything though. Those who ship it can continue shipping it no problem! If it makes them happy, why would I want to take that away from them? Who am I to do that?
  • THAT friend: Well of course you're going to hate on any ship with PIDGE in it right? Because that's "pedophilia?"
  • Me: Well, no. Pidge don't need no man, nor woman. I just see her as that type of character. Her love is more of a family love. Close bonds with friends that fit into the 'you're like a brother to me' category. Lauren said herself that all ships are valid. Jut because someone ships someone else with Pidge with someone doesn't mean I'll hate on them for not having the same view point as me.
  • THAT friend: AND HUNK? Is his ass too PURE for your freaky anti shipping?
  • Me: (I'm not an anti shut upppp!!!) Well no, I more ship Hunk with Shay to be honest. I love Hunk, but he's more of a Mom Friend figure to the Voltron paladins and crew. He's sweet but I still see more of a close friendship.
  • THAT friend: Well what about Klance? Couldn't THAT be considered simply a 'close friendship?'
  • Me: Well.. yeah to be honest, it COULD. I found Klance before I found Voltron, so I guess that's just my own stupid bias. But even if I'd watched Voltron first, I would've shipped Klance, I'm sure of that. No matter what anyone says, it IS true that they even each out nicely. Just because someone else doesn't ship it doesn't mean I'll make an attempt to chop their head off, even though Klance is my OTP. If it even becomes canon, that's just an added bonus. The creators ARE leaning in that general direction right now, but heck, that could change, right? It's just my opinion and it's not gonna change, but I'm not going to hurt someone else for dissing it, even though I don't agree.
  • THAT friend: *scoff* Whatever, freak anti.
  • Me: *sigh* Listen, I don't know where you got this anti thing from, but just because some Klance shippers are anti doesn't mean ALL of them are. All ships and fandoms in general have antis, and though none of us like it, it's just a thing we'll have to deal with. All we can do is be nice and try not to bite each others' heads off, but DON'T make the mistake that everyone in a certain category must be this or that. It's not right and you have to accept that. Believe me, if I had ANY control over this discourse, I'd try to do everything in my power to at least make it better. Unfortunately, I'm just one person over the internet, so I can't do much accept sitting back, watching, and putting in my shitty opinion here and there.
  • THAT friend: ... You had to get deep, didn't you?
  • Me: Huehuehue, fuk u 2.

What do you think about the fact that Kishi wanted Sasuke and Naruto to hold hands, but was not given the right, so he just cut up their arms instead ? It seems pretty romantic to me. I don't get why some people say SasuNaru can't be perceived as romantic. I really love them, and while I care about, acknowledge and respect the canon pairings, the SasuNaru chemistry was the most beautiful to me (imo, of course).

It’s not so much that Naruto and Sasuke can’t be viewed as romantic, as it is that they shouldn’t, because there’s canonically nothing romantic between them whatsoever. After being saved from hatred, Sasuke canonically began developing feelings for Sakura, while Naruto had feelings for Sakura but then moved on and developed feelings for Hinata.

It’s the same for a pairing like Shikamaru and Ino - it’s not that they can’t be viewed as romantic, because they’re really close friends and had plenty of moments together. But they shouldn’t be viewed as romantic for the simple reason they they’re not. Shikamaru was canonically interested in Temari, as Ino was for Sasuke and then Sai.

Besides, Kishi had initially wanted to show Naruto and Sasuke holding hands in the manner that was customary to do after a friendly spar, as so:

But it was eventually decided to have the broken statues of Hashirama and Madara do so instead while they lay on top, I guess for symbolic purposes. It’s not as if Kishi wanted to show them holding hands in a really romantic fashion.

anonymous asked:

otayuri as they are now would be pedophilia. yurio says his body hasn't been through changes yet that would affect his skating (puberty). and it would be gross for beka, who's a 19 y/o adult, to be interested in a kid. plus their friendship is lovely. its really sad to me that people value a romantic relationship above friendship. i don't think yurio and otabek would ever become interested in each other romantically. they really don't have that kind of chemistry from what canon shows us, anyway.

aaa well, if u dont think that theyd be interested in each other romantically or u think they dont have that kind of chemistry, then thats ur opinion and no one should judge you for it :o

but tbh, i have said that i dont like the thought of otabek and yuri going into a relationship right now. like all of my fics depict them going into a relationship when yuris 17-19 lol

and uh,, who said that we value relationships over friendships? the fact is, we think that after a few years, these two could develop a healthy and happy relationship, but getting into a relationship with someone doesnt erase the friendship you had with them beforehand :’)

anonymous asked:

i feel like a lot of writers don't grasp that good romantic relationships are built on friendship, so you'll have fan ships based on canonically "platonic" friendships which are more appealing than canonically romantic ships where only the romantic chemistry has been focused on and not the friendship aspect

it really should be common knowledge ..

Hey so I'm probably biased as a jalec shipper lol but I feel like alec and magnus just don't have romantic or sexual chemistry on the show. Their "couple" scenes seem so forced to me. matt and harry are amazing actors, but I feel like all the emotional tension and intimacy really shows with alec and jace, which is what made me ship them in the first place. what do you think?

hey nonnie, guess i’m as biased as you here, but considering my initial impressions of the show: i didn’t ship jalec back when i read City of Bones and i didn’t start the show with any intention of shipping them, but the chemistry between Jace and Alec simply drew me in and it’s something that stands out to me.

both Matt and Dom have commented on the importance of the relationship for them, how the Jace/Alec scenes and centered episodes are their favorites as well as the fact that they are fond of each other in real life and how that plays out into the relationship on screen. in Dom’s case it’s pretty much his favorite thing on the show and i believe we see his passion for it in his portrayal. their chemistry game is strong and, in my opinion, the best one in the show.

as for Magnus and Alec, i do think Matt and Harry cherish the relationship and try hard to do their best, but they suffered in season one with really bad material to work with and a rushed relationship that it’s hard to be made into something sympathetic. some things simply can’t come out well ( see: i’ll do you pro bono ). personally i don’t think they have as much chemistry as Jace and Alec either, but that’s not the actors’ fault.

anonymous asked:

So I personally am really sick of romantic plots becoming the main focus of fiction today. My story doesn't really have a romantic type setting to hook onto (it's about her coming back from the future.) Shippers can ship all they want, and that's fine but on the page she will not have a canon relationship just chemistry. That being said, I have noticed that WOC usually get shafted when it comes to a romantic interest/plot. That is something I don't want to do either... yikes help!!!

WOC and Romantic Relationships

A romance plot doesn’t have to become the main focus in your story for romance to be present. You can downplay a relationship or romance as much as you’d like. You should note, though, people read stories for relationships. Not necessarily romantic ones, no, but characters and their interactions with the world and one another.

I can’t think of many novels that can get away with one character interacting with no one but nature or themselves. Good friends, best friends, frenemies, siblings, acquaintances, makeshift companions, mentors, and yes, romances…these things make stories interesting and give readers something to care for, root for. There’s been characters I’ve cared nothing about, but burst into tears when they died simply because a character I did like was heartbroken from their death.

I personally tend to have a strong subplot of romance in my stories, whether it’s mystery, fantasy or adventure, but I’ve easily enjoyed stories that didn’t have this, plus, as you mention, there’s usually good chemistry, implications and “cute” moments to push me along. Then again, I’m a big romantic so whether this “spice” is a necessary aspect of your story may vary for readers.

Not everyone wants that love stuff and that’s fine; you’ll just not have those readers. Write what you want to read. It’s up to you how much you’re willing to give to the audience.

Evaluate: are you just bored of the romance plot?

Are the romance/relationships you read about just becoming cliche and same ole to you? Then don’t write relationships like this. In real life, no one relationship is the same and each can have it’s own charm. Check out this post “25 types of romantic relationships.” You’ve probably encountered a number of these, but you can put a spin on any number of them or add depth (starting with your characters) to make them fresh in itself as opposed to just a flat, tired love trope.

I’d personally find it off if no one was in a relationship in the story, though? Even if it’s just some secondary characters, people who are married, dating, or whatever. You don’t necessarily have to make it a big focus or become the plot, but it would come across as dry if you just decided not to develop those relationships and gave us “tell vs. show” aka just noting they’re together without elaborating. So I’d suggest you develop the love relationships just as you would any other relationships, even if it’s not a main focus. Subtleties and small gestures can go a long away.

And note, even “cliche” plot lines like the love triangle and will-they-wont-they isn’t exactly cliche when it’s involving a WoC…because how often are we really seeing this, really? It’s usually a White woman in the center of the love triangle, whose heart is being sought, who gets the love and affection. So consider that.

I’d also make sure that some WoC are in caring relationships too. I’d be a bit suspicious if only the White characters got strong relationships and no WoC or your heroine, especially in the case of Black women (and also Asian Men) who face the desexualized trope so often.

Hello! I seen a few past post where you seem interested in the shipping of Super Girl and Lex Luther's Sister. Forgetting her name at the moment lol. However; I don't get why people ship them. They don't ooze sexual chemistry towards each other in the slightest when I watch the show. Clexa makes sense since they loved each other, but shipping two people who are straight seems odd to me. Especially when they don't even seem that into each other. What is your opinion?

Hello, I’m going to address this in parts. And I’m going emphasize the fact that this is how I feel and I don’t necessarily represent other supercorp shippers or anyone that ships a pairing that is non-canon or unpopular (though from what I’ve gathered, it’s not that unpopular of a ship?), these are just my feelings.

Okay, here we go. I hope you like reading essays.

1) “I [have] seen a few past post where you seem interested in the shipping of Supergirl and Lex Luther’s sister.”

My friend, if you’ve only seen a few posts, you must be new here. In that case, welcome to this mess of a blog.

2) “They don’t ooze sexual chemistry towards each other in the slightest when I watch the show.”

There’s a few words in this sentence that are prickly to me. The words “ooze sexual chemistry” implies that two characters, to be worth shipping, must look like they want to jump each other’s bones in every scene and must make it obvious to us, the viewers. You’re prefacing your argument with a suggestion that all ships must be inherently sexually based to be classified as a ship worth investing in. This tosses out the window any consideration for, say, romantic chemistry. The two aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive, but interactions that suggest the latter can stem from an emotional connection which I, personally, see a lot of between Kara and Lena.

Take, for instance, their first meeting: “I’m just a woman trying to make a name for herself outside her family. You understand that?” and we get a great reaction on behalf of Melissa Benoist where Supergirl is almost surprised that she would find herself agreeing with a Luthor and very much does, in fact, feel what Lena is feeling.

That’s not nothing. Their individual associations with their family names is a huge part of both of their lives and this is likely the first time that they’ve ever met someone that can actually understand the way it feels to be trapped in that. Adding in the fact that both of their families have committed atrocities for what they believed to be the greater good, just further develops that understanding and connection.

All of this isn’t to say that I don’t also see sexual chemistry between the two of them, because I definitely do, I’m just saying that that’s not the only thing I look for in a ship.

Those look like some pretty big heart eyes to me, anon.

3) “Clexa makes sense since they loved each other…”

Did they love each other from the very first interaction? On sight? Does this imply, anon, that you only ship pairings that very clearly communicate their love? Did you only ship Clexa at their very last scene where Clarke admitted she loved Lexa (thank you, Eliza Taylor)? Or are there some more subtle cues that you look for that allows you to form an opinion and say “aha, these two definitely like each other!”?

A lot of people take the stance, (some of the writers too, if memory serves), that Clarke started falling in love with Lexa when she woke up on the forest floor to find Lexa watching over her. What was there, prior to that, that built up to this? There was communicating a mutual understanding (Clarke lost Finn, Lexa lost Costia). One protecting the other (Lexa stopping one of her warriors from killing Clarke, Clarke saving Lexa from the Pauna). But they also had a lot of reason to not even like each other (Lexa was threatening to kill all of Clarke’s people for gods sake). But still, we look at that forest scene and go “ooh, yep, there are some feelings going on there.”

Kara and Lena have mutual understanding. They also protect one another. And more to that they actually like each other from the very start.

My point: Clexa didn’t start their very first scene together by running into each other’s arm dramatically and saying “I love you”, so I’m failing to see the basis of your evidence on this one.

4) “but shipping two people who are straight seems odd to me.”

Oh dear, where to start with this one.

I think I’m going to start with the word “straight” (and I’m going to try to be careful and preface this with by saying that I’m not trying to step on toes here or start any discourse. This is a sensitive topic for some people, but I’m going to try to do my best).

First, did I miss the scene where Lena states her sexuality? I haven’t seen her with anyone. Or are we assuming she’s straight purely from the comics? If that’s the case then I will point you towards looking at Wonder Woman, a character created in the 1940s that only recently was revealed to be bisexual . What I’m saying is, I wouldn’t necessarily rely purely on past historical record for proof of character traits.

Second: Kara’s sexuality. I’m not saying she’s not straight, you could be correct. But I’m going to tell you why she could also not be. I’m making the assumption that this scene is the main basis of your argument:

And what I’m gong to say about it is this: Realizing and understanding your sexuality is not an immediate revelation for everyone. There are a lot of people who say exactly what Kara is saying right there for a large part of their lives, only later to discover that maybe they’re not as straight as they thought.

There is no “no taksies backsies” rule when it comes to revealing your sexuality. Someone can say they’re straight one day and gay the next and they can keep changing their label as they figure themselves out. Life isn’t so static. Things change. People change. So me believing that maybe Kara, as a character in this show, could be figuring that out about herself isn’t odd, at least not to me.

5) What is your opinion?

In the end, you’ve hit the nail on the head with the word “opinion”. I ship supercorp because I go where I see chemistry, and in my opinion, those two have the most romantic and sexual chemistry on the show.

The Flash
  • I am now on 1x11 and my opinions have changed;
  • Iris is such a smol bean and her whole blog thing is so cute.
  • Barry Allen is sososososos hot and if he was actually a real person I would want to date him. His nerdness is really cute.
  • Oliver is okay. He seems cool but I don't like his way of handling things.
  • Still, Eddie looks way older than Iris so this whole ship for me is like not happening.
  • Right now I ship Barry with Caitlin cause they are sososos cute and I haven't watched that much but from what I've seen they seem like they could be canon.
  • The reason I don't ship westallen is because I don't like unrequited love and that's what it is. There is no romantic chemistry there from what I've watched so far. Tell me if they have stuff going for them later on but right now they don't.

I really love your blog. especially love it since Bellamy is my favourite. So many people hating on him and they don't realise that he is human like everyone else. I also love the Bellarke chemistry. But I can't help but feel that Clarke really took his love for granted. He came to rescue her twice and the last time she chose the grounders over her own people. I like Clarke too, but she needs to recognise that she can't take people for granted. Maybe in season 4 she will realise her feelings?

Bellamy and Clarke aren’t at the point where they even know that the other person has romantic feelings for each other. .

Bellamy’s definitely saved Clarke more than twice, btw.

On top of that Clarke has rescued or (attempted to rescue) Bellamy as well. On Unity Day when she saved him from Dax. At the Dropship when she tried to hold the door open for as long as possible in Season 1. When she allowed a bomb to drop on TonD.C. for his safety, when she (they both) pulled the lever in  Mt. Weather to save all of their  people (including themselves). When she sacrificed her own life to Roan in order to spare his (Please, I’ll do anything, just don’t kill him.) When she jammed the Flame in Emerson’s neck and released them from the air lock. We’ll never know what she would have done if they would have actually managed to “bring in Bellamy Blake.” When she entered the CoL and pulled the lever again saving all of their people (including  Bellamy.

She also most certainly does not take Bellamy for granted. If anything, Clarke is Bellamy’s strongest supporter and defender, surpassing even his own sister. Clarke has turned her back on Bellamy a record total of once (and that was only because she, in her own words, did not trust L.xa).

In Season 1, she convinces Bellamy to stay at camp, she gets Jaha to pardon him, she defends him against Finn, she explains to Bellamy why the camp needs her.

In Season 2, Clarke is the one who runs into his arms, she’s the one who defends him to the adults, she’s the one who trusts Bellamy to come through with something in Mt. Weather, she’s the one who blows up a village for him.

In Season 3, she’s the one who trades her life for his. She’s the one who bears the title of Wanheda alone so that Monty and Bellamy won’t also be hunted. She’s the one who believes in Bellamy and needs to speak to him about the massacre. She again defends Bellamy against himself (This isn’t who you are.) and places her faith solidly in him (I knew I could, because they had you.) When they are reunited, time (the footage literally slows down). She’s the one who wraps his hand and reassures him about being a good person.  She’s the one who confides in him at the end of the Season about the world not being safe.

Also, Clarke has acknowledged her feelings.

This is why I’m still  so confused when people say “Clarke doesn’t know how she feels about Bellamy.”

idk i kinda think sebaek is a weird ship like they look so HEC KIN good together, but i don't really see much chemistry?? like even as an otp,

omg ok ok o ko k ok thank u for messaging me this im so excited to talk about this right now ok so u think they don’t have chemistry right??? well ur very right because sebaek aren’t actually a romantic otp … i wouldn’t even say they’re (best) friends with benefits like sekai tbh, they’re purely a hyung/dongseng brotp. but they aren’t like any old brotp, they’re so special for very many reasons:

  • i always say this but imo their personalities are very very alike !! it’s got a lot to do with the fact that their both blood type O’s (even sebaek themselves say this amongst eachother), how they’re both talkative, social, playful, childish, they both like dogs and babies, they’re both easy going, heck they even DRESS in a similar style!!!!! have u ever noticed how it’s easy to ship baekhyun with basically every member of exo and it’s also easy to ship sehun with literally every member?? ? ?? it’s because they’re both hella easy to get along with hence they get along with and leave a good impression on ALL the members, all the staff and reporters at photoshoots and schedules that they attend, all the people they knew in their predebut lives omg do u get what im saying???? sebaek both have sooooo many fanaccs from people that knew them predebut (saying that they were really nice people or that they were super popular in school) .. . its just wow
  • also Os and Os are compatible so it’s no wonder these boys get along so well !!!
  • u know how i said they dress similarly??? THEY EVEN SHARE CLOTHES   !!!!      !!!!!
  • i have this hunch that sebaek have the most inside jokes with eachother and im not being delusional (or i could be but whatev) hear me out omg — they’ve been showering together ever since they were trainees they are comfortable seeing eachothers dingdongs i mean COME ON i bet they have atleast 300 dick size jokes they aren’t sharing with us, not to mention they also pretended to act in commercials together while they were naked (baek said himself at the debut showcase incase u guys forgot) !! they’re both WAY too talkative (or atleast baek is but it’s well known that sehun is quite talkative too) to shower in silence for all those years oh ym god
  • also if you watch showtime or first box or any interview, sehun is always laughing the loudest at baekhyuns jokes (along with kyungsoo but thats a diff story) and sehun always cheers his hyung on when hes telling a funny story like whenever i look at sehun while baek is talking i feel like sehun is thinking “LMAO YES IVE HEARD THIS STORY BEFORE OMG YEA TELL EM HYUNG THIS STORY IS GREAT” and when sehun speaks baekhyun is always looking at him with motherly eyes IM NOT JOKING CHECK IT URSELF…  . . i just really think they really adore eachother very much . .. and baekhyun has said on COUNTLESS occasions that he thinks sehun is fucking adorable oh ym god
  • also idk if any of u guys have noticed but sehun uses kkaebsong the most often out of all the members (besides baek himself) and baek used yehet that one time remember ?? ? i bet he uses it a lot outside of broadcast too tbh SEBAEK JUST USE EACHOTHERS SAYINGS
  • not to mention they look REALLY GOOD TOGETHER… staff and photographers even realise this because they’re almost always together in photoshoots AND THANK GOD FOR THAT
  • i know we don’t see sebaek together all the time during promotions because naturally as people we gravitate towards people nearest to our own age (sehun - jongin, tao and baek - kyungsoo, chanyeol, chen) (keep in mind roommates and practise mates though), but during their free time like behind the scenes IM. TELLING. YOU. i bet you sebaek are closer than alot of people think
  • im gonna end this post with one of my favourite sebaek gifsets/moments i actually can’t believe they can be THIS cute together this is where i die
  • life hack: do not stan both of these boys at once
  • sebaek is so important

You just don't ship bellarke because you're a Clexa lover and don't even deny it

This is a really weird ask. I mean, to begin I have never liked Clarke and Bellamy as a romantic relationship, since the start of the show. I adore their relationship, their chemistry, and their dynamic. I don’t want them to date. If that means I don’t “ship” them then so be it. That said, yes I love Clarke and Lexa. I’m not trying to deny that in any way shape or form.

anonymous asked:

Tbh I don't understand why so many people ship black and white. Bc like, as an actual gay person I can say that there isn't really any romantic chemistry between them. Lots of platonic love but no romantic love per say..... I just really appreciate their friendship, bc friends are an important relationship too

I totally agree, and it’s what I intended to write from the start (not that I think I actually can write any romance honestly).
For me, it’s too natural and unromantic between them that it’s easy to imagine any scene between the two comfortably, and most of the time, those who follow me see that I don’t stop myself from drawing a scene that might be taken out of context if the story calls for one, or if it fits a character’s personality.

But in the end, not all shippers  (in Grey is… and in general), ship because there is chemistry between the characters. Back in my “fandoms noob” deviantArt days, I tried long and hard to try and make it clear that Black and White are not in any way, lovers, mainly because even if there was chemistry, I don’t see either of them in a place where an intimate relationship would do them good.

But then I grew up and became a little bit less serious. I learned with time that there are different types of followers for any given fandom; those who take a story as-is even when being critical of what’s in some parts of it, those who are follow a story for entertainment, and those who follow a story for both reasons.

anyway ^^; thank you for sharing your opinion!

anonymous asked:

I can only speak for myself on why I like Bellamy and Clarke together. I think they had a good co-leadership in season 1 that developed into a friendship. Their friendship is healthy and they work really well together. Personally, I think they have good chemistry together and theres a spark between them. I know its not romantic yet. I'm just hoping it might be in the future. I don't dislike Clarke and Lexa together though. I think they had a beautiful relationship that came to a tragic end.

I’m so tired of blarkes who pretend to like clexa and then try to convince me blarke is nice.

“Their friendship is healthy“ ??? Listen. Bellamy is abusive. There is no spark. There is no chemistry. He handcuffed her to a fucking table, almost dragged her to Pike to her own death, she had to tase him to escape?! He blamed her for “leaving him”, a grown ass man, and constantly belittles her. He never acknowledges her pain or what she’s been through, she’s fucking 18. Not to mention he almost let her fall into a freaking pit way back in s1. Nothing has changed since then except he’s feeling more manpain and puts more blame on her. It will probably become romantic because Jason hates everything good in this world but it won’t be nice.

Aside from the fact that there is nothing in this world that would make me ship them, I am actually, honestly, so scared for all the young girls who ship this ship and who idolize Bellamy. I’m really saying this from the bottom of my heart when I say I wish none of you ever end up with a guy like Bellamy. That guy doesn’t deserve someone not even half as good as Clarke. I truly wish you all wake up from this delusion one day and realize just how bad this is for young girls to idolize.
