but he's the superior father

anonymous asked:

prompt: Harry as a child walking out of his primary school but Dudley & co start harassing him. Draco is a child that is passing, and he defends Harry and they become friends skip a few years n they're admitting that they like each other

“Hey, four eyes!” Harry heard the familiar voice of his cousin Dudley call out to him. Harry turned around to face him and his cronies. Even though he was only a few month older than him, Dudley’s large figure made him appear older and stronger. “I didn’t know losers were allowed in this park.”

“Why not? They seem to make an exception for morons.” He retorted. Dudley and the other nine year olds standing beside him advanced on Harry who ran as quickly as he could to get away from them. Unfortunately, not all of them were as big and slow as Dudley. One of the skinnier boys caught him by his oversized t-shirt. He spun Harry around and pinned him up against the fence where they punched, kicked, and scratched at him.

“Hey!” He heard another boy yell. The gang of boys turned around. Harry could just make out the blurry outline of a thin, blonde boy. “Leave him alone!”

“Or what?” Said Dudley menacingly. Though the blonde kid did not back down, his stood as if he was superior to everyone around him.

“Or my father will hear about this.” He said snootily.

Dudley laughed darkly. “You’re going to tell on us? Yes, why don’t you run to your daddy, coward.” He then proceeded to push the boy down.

While the others were distracted, Harry had just enough time to put his glasses back on his face before one of Dudley’s cronies noticed and slammed him back into the fence. He could see the other boy more clearly now. His blonde hair was slicked back out of his grey eyes. He had blood running down his elbow, standing out against the incredibly pale skin. The next thing he knew was the boy, who couldn’t be much older than Harry, had stood up and punched Dudley square in the nose.

He stumbled back, his friends rushing up to him to make sure he was okay. In all the commotion, Harry didn’t notice the pale boy make his way next to him. He only realized when he started to drag him away.

Once they were at a safe distance, both panting from running and adrenaline, Harry spoke. “Thanks. For sticking up for me.” The boy nodded. “I’m Harry Potter.”

“I’m Draco Malfoy.” The boy, Draco, told him. “Do you want to be friends?”

Harry was taken aback. No one had ever asked to be friends with him before. Nevertheless, Harry accepted his proposal.

From that day forward, Harry and Draco were inseparable. They hung out at each other’s houses all the time, did their homework together, and, once they got a bit older, talked about girls together. Well, Harry talked about girls to Draco. Whenever the subject of crushes came up, he seemed to avoid it entirely. Harry never questioned it though. He just suspected his best friend was embarrassed about who he liked and never wanted to push him.

I swear to f**king god if they make Salad stronger than Sasuke in the next episode i’m flipping

Sasuke is a true blood Uchiha where Salad is a half breed mongrel, Sasuke had a more advanced Sharingan when he was 12 years old, yet Studio priging Pierrot, by the looks of it is trying to make out she has a far more superior Sharingan then her father had when he was her age.

Send me a ship and I’ll give you my (brutally) honest opinion on it

Ah yes, the ship that must not be named. Or that I like to call err0ri because it’s like an error in the matrix or idk. I’m not directly answering the ask because I don’t want it to show up in the search and have any brats in my inbox lol.
Alright, sit down, my child because this turned out so long, holy shit X”D

Tbh this ship never made any sense to me, and I was baffled when I joined the fandom and found out that it’s the biggest/most popular ship in the fandom. Like wtf the wrong with y’all?? First of all there is the obvious age gap. Why you gotta turn Levi into a pedo? He just doesn’t strike me as the guy that would fall for a teenager. He might care for them as a father figure and superior because he’s empathetic. But romance? Never. “But it’s only fiction!!!!!!!!!!!” Have you seen how teenager boys act nowadays? How can you look at someone as immature as Eren and think he would be able to take care of a man in his 30s irl? You wouldn’t. And idk what should be so different in the snk verse. Eren is immature and egoistic and definitely not, NOT. AT. ALL. suited to take care of someone like Levi who went through so much shit, grew up underground and lost so many people that were dear to him. They are on totally different levels. But there is more to it than just the age gap. There is a total lack of chemistry. I just don’t see it! But the worst is that the whole ship is built on an act of violence. How can abuse be the base for a ship? When I joined the fandom in 2013 it was totally a thing in err0ri fanart that Levi would beat Eren up before anything romantic or sexual happened. It looked like violence was a foreplay for them and that’s simply disgusting. Abuse was heavily romanticized and played down in this fandom. But it was just a trick to get Eren into the Scouting Legion right? Also it was the plan of Erwin, the evil guy that stands in the way of this ~dream ship~. Let’s just ignore how Levi did not only beat Eren a second but also a third time. The second time was just Levi’s way of bonding with his new squad, right? Lmao this was such a fucked up “meta” post that I read. For the third time they couldn’t even make any excuses. They just simply ignore it. Like basically everything else that happens in canon. This ship is so damn ooc. It’s like they are two completely different characters that just coincidentally look exactly like Eren and Levi. This fandom is an expert in mischaracterizing characters and I’m also talking about third parties, like every other character that could come in the way of the ship is a potential danger, an abuser and rapist. Maybe it’s because most shippers are very young and just see Eren as a self insert. Maybe they haven’t written many fics and that’s why they can’t get the characterization right. Who knows, maybe I would’ve fallen for this ship too when I was 15. (Though I was always into height differences, so who knows?) However, there are also enough people that are not teenagers or even around Levi’s age that ship him with Eren. I honestly can’t come up with any logical reason why you would ship these two. I don’t understand it and I honestly don’t want to. The only reason I can somewhat understand is “they are my favorite and second favorite character so I just want to see them together and fuck canon, I make up my own canon/AU”. Or if someone ships them for the ~aesthetics~. I don’t see these aesthetics, but tastes are different.

I gotta admit that in the beginning I was just unfazed by this ship and felt just indifferent. I didn’t mind if it showed up on my dash, I scrolled past it and sometimes even took a second to appreciate the art itself even if I didn’t like what it portrayed. But the more time passed the more I’ve learned how nasty the shippers are. Istg the shippers made me hate this ship with a burning passion. Now if any err0ri shows up on my dash, I get physically sick. I totally wish I could go back to indifference instead of feeling like puking, but I can’t. I’ve seen too much shit. And I’m totally aware that there are normal shippers, and that other ships have black sheeps in their flock too. But there are just so many err0ri shippers that can’t stay in their damn line. They have to take art of other ships and turn change Levi’s partner into Eren. They have to leave nasty comments under eru/ri art like “I think you meant to draw Eren as Levi’s husband instead of Erwin” or that the artist drew a rape scene under a simple nsfw drawing. And don’t get me started on the shit that goes on in the eru/ri tag on AO3. Why do so many writers have to tag their err0ri fics as eru/ri? Istg no matter when I check the tag, there are always 20-25% err0ri fics. I’m so fucking tired of this shit. I don’t want to see it! NO ONE goes into the eru/ri tag to see this endgame err0ri crap. Especially not if all of them turn Erwin into a monster. Aren’t they tired of reading their own same shit over and over again? Can’t they come up with anything new? Why does it always have to be Erwin who is the bad ex and Eren the knight on a white horse who rescues Levi? Levi is no fucking damsel in distress. He would never let Erwin abuse him and he’s definitely not unable to defend himself. He doesn’t need a third person to get him out of there, especially not someone as unsuited as Eren lol. But I‘m repeating myself and already talked enough about mischaracterization. I just wish they would take a random OC instead or just stop to tag their fics as eru/ri if it’s just a past relationship and not the endgame. And NO, eruri/ren is NOT the solution. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. If I already hate err0ri, I definitely don’t want to drag Erwin into this shit as well. Leave him out of it. I know multishippers exist. I don’t understand how you can ship both of them when eru/ri is basically perfect while err0ri is the bad kind of trash, but ok. But I’ve never got along with those kind of multishippers. I talked to some in the past but it never ended well. So I prefer to avoid any people that are shipping err0ri tbh. Oh and one last thing… why do so many of them are such apologists? Whenever they are confronted with the “pedo argument” (yes, I’m aware that pedophilia is the wrong term and it should be actually hebephilia/ephebophilia but most people use pedophilia as a synonym for a minor/adult relationship), they get so defensive and aggressive and try to find stupid excuses why this ship is not problematic. Suddenly Eren is so mature because he’s in the military and that automatically makes him an adult. But once he has to face punishment for insubordination he’s a sweet child that doesn’t know any better. That’s so fucking pathetic and hypocritical. Just admit that you like a problematic ship and that’s it. It’s not that hard isn’t it?

Thanks for your ask, and sorry that this got so long :”D

Dethklok Blood Types

Skwisgaar: In keeping with his sense of superiority and the implication that he was fathered by a god, Skwisgaar is the most rare blood type, AB-.

Toki: Toki is A+, the most common blood type in Norway.

Murderface: Murderface is B+. No justification here, just wanted to make sure there was a B in here.

Pickles: Thanks to Pickles’s Irish heritage, he’s O+

Nathan: Is also A+. He and Toki have bonded over that.

(For shits and giggles: Ofdensen’s O- cause, come on, wouldn’t it make sense for him to be a universal donor? He also makes sure on every outing they have at least TWO Klokateers of their respective blood types on staff, in case of emergencies.)

I’m outside Winterfell this time, standing on the battlefield. It is night and dark but the flames Rhaegal and Drogon blow out illuminates everything. I see my father dressed in his plain leather armour, a thick fur cloak wrapping him. He rides on his horse and shards of dragon glass tipped arrows fly above him striking the dead from a far. Dothraki screamers riding in the background and the brave Unsullied infantrymen readying their dragonglass spears. This is the Great Battle for Dawn that Grand Maester Tarly had recorded in the history books.

The Night King stands there and I see his undead frost dragon screeching from above. The noise is so horrifying and deafening, I am shivering to the bone. Rhaegal comes flying towards Viserion. The Dragons battle each other and I watch in horror as Rhaegal falls to the ground. His neck burned by Viserion’s deadly blue flame. Drogon roars and I hear my mother’s scream. I know she is carrying my brother Daeron in her womb, barely three months at least. She has lost another dragon child of hers. And she will never recover from the loss.

The Night King turns around trying to command the storm clouds once again. I watch as his army of wights run, falling on the soldiers of men by the hundreds of thousands. I have to do something. And I have to be quick. Father is struggling but I know he is trying hard as he fights off the wights. I see the dragonglass tipped sword on the ground, underneath the pile of dead bodies.

How strange that amidst the chaos of battle among the living and the dead, I seem to glide easily in the mist and snow, still dressed in my silk nightdress I had worn to sleep. It’s like a dream. It is a dream, what else can it be? I know how the story ends. Father and Mother won the Great War. They didn’t lose or I won’t be here. I would not have been born if they had been defeated.

Father is dueling with the Night King now. While Drogon attacks Viserion, with my mother riding on his back. The Night King uses his ice spear and blocks father’s sword at every turn. He is a far superior warrior than my father, the King in the North. I can hear his thoughts. He is silently taunting my father.

No man can kill me don’t you know? You Northern Fool! No man living or dead can destroy me!

The Children of the Forest had made it so. They created him to defeat the First Men until he became a monster they could no longer control. Uncle Bran showed it to me before. No man can kill the Night King. He is invincible and almost omnipotent. He is the very definition of Death, enemy of all the living.

I remember my mother’s words, words she had spoken to Missandei in Astapor in what seems like ages ago. Valar Morghulis.

“All men must die…but we are not men

I don’t know who or what push me forward but I hold the dragonglass sword by its cold metal hilt. I see Father groaning, he is trying his best to defeat the Night King but it looks like he is losing and it makes me almost shut my eyes. I am afraid. I do not want my father to die. I do not want my parents to lose this war….

AAW Day 4: Family Day

You can read this and the other AAW fills on Ao3 here.

The other boy looks just like him. It’s like looking into his future, but with better hair… At ten, Alistair’s is rather wiry and unpredictable… and red—the worst color for a boy to have, in his estimation. The other boy’s is blonde and his eyes are blue—they sparkle as he smiles. Cailan Theirin… the brother Alistair can never know.

Alistair stands at the periphery as Cailan passes. He’s riding a white horse through the square just ahead of his father—the king… it’s in that moment that Alistair experiences jealousy for the first real time in his life. That man—with the longish blonde hair and the big, gentle eyes—is his father too, except he’s already too busy being a father to that superior boy… to that blonde, horse-riding, shining paragon of princely qualities. He doesn’t have time for the dirty little bastard with the ruddy complexion and propensity for making messes. Why should he? Alistair is a mistake. No one even pretends he isn’t.

Alistair grits his teeth, trying not to cry. A woman on his left calls out, ‘Long live his majesty!’ and Maric turns. For a split second, Alistair almost lets himself hope: see me. Notice me. But the smile on Maric’s lips is not for him. It glides gently across his regal features and slides away again just as quickly; he rides ahead and pats Cailan on the shoulder from his slightly taller steed. It’s in that moment that Alistair knows: he has no family.

Color Pie Friday: Fullmetal Homunculi

Today’s article picks up where we left off last week, talking about the characters of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I looked at eight human characters that drive the series, and today’s article will be looking at their counterparts: the eight homunculi, villains of the series. Beware, those that have not watched the series, as spoilers await below. And that’s about that as far as introductions go.

The Original Sin

The first homunculus was created from the blood of Van Hohenheim in ancient Xerxes and referred to as the Dwarf in the Flask. Despite being a little blob in a jar, the Homunculus had some serious aspirations. These aspirations can be summarized in two words: freedom and power.

Conveniently, these are the end goals of Red and Black, respectively. This shouldn’t be surprising either. The Homunculus manipulates the King of Xerxes into sacrificing the entire kingdom in order to gain immortality. The Homunculus situated the transmutation circle to center around himself and Van Hoehenheim, however, giving both of them the power of a philosopher’s stone. Sacrificing others for ultimate power is about as Black as it gets.

The Homunculus has a little Blue in him too I think. After all, what is driving all of these ambitions? The knowledge of alchemy. What does he want freedom from? The restraint of natural laws. He’s constantly manipulating his own body to gain more power, transforming into a new being each time. The Dwarf in the Flask grows into a fleshy human; the fleshy human grows into a god; the god transcends existence itself.

Ultimately, the Dwarf’s hubris is his undoing. Classic Grixis villain.

The Sin of Lust

The homunculus Lust is a great example of a mono-Red character who generally stays away from violence (not that she’s harmless by any metric). Lust’s primary role is to manipulate the emotions of others. She uses her *ahem* charms to sway the opinions and actions of many within the military government, reveling in the pain of her victims when things don’t go her way. If Lust was a Magic card, those talons of hers would be a perfectly translated as first strike, another Red trait.

The Sin of Gluttony

Gluttony’s powers center around eating. He is driven by hunger, an instinctual drive given to Green. Of course, Gluttony eats far more than what he needs; his hunger is insatiable. The excessive nature of his hunger also pushes him into Red. Such a reliance on his basal desires corresponds with Gluttony’s lack of intellect. Red/Green is the color pair that uses its brain the least, a fact reflected in Gluttony’s wanton consumption of everything around him.

The combination of instinct and impulse make Gluttony Red/Green.

The Sin of Envy

Envy’s main power is shapeshifting, which already puts him in Blue. How Envy uses this shapeshifting is quite Blue also. He is an infiltrator, using deception and mimicry to gather information and instigate conflict.

Envy, naturally, is very envious of humanity. He sees their power, love, and cooperation and thinks that he deserves to have those things more. Built into his view is the idea that the homunculi are better than humans. That desire for power over his peers is the beginning of Envy’s Black side. Envy is very much a destroyer, cutting down others instead of building himself up, another Black trait.

Envy is the only homunculus to kill itself, unable to bear the anxiety of being a weak, imperfect being. He succumbs to the biggest fears of Blue and Black, the colors most prone to self-doubt.

The Sin of Greed

Greed is greedy, desiring to possess the entire world. He puts himself above everyone else, seeing them as minions to be owned and used. This all points to Black. Greed is so self-centered, in fact, that he willingly rebels against Father. Twice. He thinks he can beat Father and take control over the other homunculi, despite the unalienable truth that he’s just a mere fraction of Father.

This character also explores one of Black’s downsides: loneliness. Black is the color most likely to end up alone because it pushes helpful people away due to its own self-reliance. We learn that Greed really just wanted some real friends, the tragedy of his role as a sinful being.

Greed is a great example of a mono-Black antihero, a character that fights against the villain for their own selfish reasons rather than a desire to help the heroes.

The Sin of Wrath

King Bradley was human who was transformed into the homunculus Wrath. King craves power and dominance, Black’s goals. He was even willing to endure infusion with a philosopher’s stone, sacrificing part of his humanity to become a more powerful being.

Wrath is also largely driven by emotion, both positive and negative. Wrath, unsurprisingly, is driven by an unfettered rage in combat. He reminds others, however, that he willingly chose his wife and still loves her very much. When he’s interacting with members of the military, Wrath is unnaturally cheery. His emotional state is always pushed to the extreme.

Bradley is ruthless in battle, using his incredible speed and tremendous power to relentlessly crush his opponents. The swiftness of Red and the efficiency of Black make him one of the most formidable enemies in the entire series.

The Sin of Sloth

Sloth is all about inactivity, both the sin and the character. Sloth spends most of the series doing one thing: digging a hole. It’s such a pain, though, to do Father’s work. Ambition is a pain, you Green character you.

Sloth’s Green-ness is reinforced by his titanic strength; Sloth is the biggest, strongest, and toughest of the homunculi. Ironically, Sloth is also the fastest, but moving fast is such a pain. It’s much easier to just accept life as it comes than to run around and crush things.

Arguably the most-Green facet of Sloth is that he gladly accepts his death. Acceptance that things live and then die is one of Green’s central tenets. And why shouldn’t Sloth accept death? Living was such a pain.

The Sin of Pride

The last homunculus we meet is Pride, who lives inside King Bradley’s adopted son, Selim. Pride is the homunculus most like Father, and he shares his progenitor’s sense of superiority over everyone else. Pride is always dismissive of others, even the other homunculi. This supreme feeling is tied to Black, pride in one’s own self.

Selim has many features that also fit into Black’s philosophy and flavor. Most bluntly, he’s a being of shadow that can only live in shadows. He’s ruthlessly cunning, tapping into both his insight and impulses when interacting with others. Deceit, psychological warfare, and ruthlessness are all parts of Pride’s repertoire. Pride even resorts to eating Gluttony and absorbing his power in order to fight Al. There is nothing Pride wouldn’t do to retain his status as Father’s favorite homunculus.

Eight Deadly Sins

The very idea of the seven deadly sins is rooted in White’s views of morality and human nature. It’s not very surprising, then, that the sins skew Black and Red. I think what makes Fullmetal Alchemist such an enduring franchise, however, is that the heroes of the series aren’t all White. Many of those characters also embrace Black and Red attributes. What ends up happening are moments of empathy between the heroes and villains as they show many sides of similar attitudes.

Until next time, planeswalkers, don’t let your sins get the best of you.

Cursed, the word that repeated once again in The Great King’s mind. Everyone and everything he had cared for had faded and abandoned him, to the deepest core of his heart he’d deemed himself cursed. The thought and title sank deep into his being pulling him farther and farther from the King he’d imagined his Father had dreamt of him becoming, his tolerance of his pain diminished with each day, forcing himself into a numb mindset to bear the weight of his crown. Remaining on his throne to fill the void as in time all foul things crept forward, not the best for the job but with his two Ages of reigning as King he was far superior than the alternative of letting the Silvan Elves his Father had claimed as his subjects, when they’d fled his homeland, allowing them to rule themselves and wait as they faded into the creeping darkness claiming their Kingdom.

Let's Talk FMA: King Bradley in Ishval

No one can deny that King Bradley is a powerful character. And whatever he says tends to be very powerful (except for the melon things. What is his obsession with melons?). I’ve always liked Bradley because of how interesting and complex he is, not because he’s a good person or anything, but rather, an awesome antagonists.

What also interests me about Bradley is that he is one of the few fictional openly atheist characters I’ve seen (another being Ed). And while not all characters are openly religious in the Fullmetal Alchemist series, I found that was interesting and took note of it.

What I found interesting also was this panel in volume 15, chapter 60 “In the Abscence of God” in the manga:

If I had any bone to pick with the Brotherhood series, it would be how abridged and shortened the whole entire Ishval genocide and war volume was cut into a single episode with little detail. It was one of my favourite volumes and it was cut out so much.

In the official English version, he says “It is the hand of man, not God, that we should fear.” Which again, spiked my interest.

I think we all know well that Bradley is a dick to all religion, and insulted the religious leader of the Ishvalans very bluntly. Obviously, Bradley doesn’t fear the wrath of God because he simply doesn’t believe it exists. This is the same principle of someone not believing in trolls and thus, doesn’t believe he can be harmed by trolls.

What I find interesting here is that Bradley was basically raised and formed, and everything he had, was given to him by a being that wanted the power of God. Bradley is a homunculus, he is supposed to see men as weak and Father as superior to everyone.

And yet, why does he fear the hand of man, someone who is supposed to be lesser than him, and not the hand of God, something that is what Father is achieving, and superior to all humans?

If I think about it, it’s pretty obvious that Bradley is afraid of humanity rather than God. He knows, because he has lived among humans for so long, that humans are unpredictable and they have something that homunculi never did: the potential to strive even in the face of such events. In a negative fashion, Bradley may point out the potential of cruelty in all humans, do to things beyond imagination for selfish desires. On the other hand, it’s quite possible Bradley thought that men could overcome anything with that potential. This is quite likely, since he does say in the above translation “what brings wrath (haha) upon us”. He’s prepared for humanity to win against the homunculi. We can analyze this a bit further, because later on in the story, he mentions how humans “never ceases to surprise him” and died with a smile on his face, saying that it was humans that made it worth living. For someone who’s supposed to hate humans, he’s got a lot of respect for us.

And here’s another thought-provoking part in the manga

What I think this has, is strong parallels to the first chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist, in which Ed exposes a false religion. Although the difference is that the Ishvalan religion is not phony and not meant to get money off of people. Although, as I said, Bradley is a dick to all religion. However the parallel still exists. Bradley is bold he’s saying “Don’t threaten me with something that I don’t think is real, do it yourself.” This is a lot like what happened with Ed and Rose, in which Ed is telling Rose to pick herself up and march forward on her own because she’s strong enough.

I don’t think there’s any anti-religion message here from Ms. Hiromu Arakawa here though. Coupled with what Bradley said in the above panel, the message, at least to me is “You don’t always have to depend on others. You don’t know the potential you have.” This is one of the core messages in the whole entire story: you are enough, and you can do it

So, even with an anti-religion Bradley, the message of the manga still manages to shine through.

So I saw you taking prompts for shamy fanfics and was wondering, because I love your writing and style, if you would write this: Missy is in town with her baby and they come to visit. While they're spending the evening with the gang, penny spots how adorable sheldon and amy are being with the baby - holding and playing with him and just being generally cute. By the time the evening is over everyone has agreed that maybe a shamy baby wouldn't be the worst idea. Thank you :) xxx

Thanks for the prompt.  The Shamy with kids is always one of my favorite things.

The Situation as of Spring 1916: “This War Will End at Verdun”

Pictured - A German howitzer pounds the French lines.

On the first day of April the Kaiser declared in a speech that: “The decision of the War of 1870 took place in Paris.  This war will end at Verdun.”  But when would the battle of Verdun end?

The bloodshed showed no signs of abating; the modern mechanical instruments of war do not grow tired.  On March 22 Bavarian regiments attacked en masse at the Bois d’Avocourt on the Left Bank.  French machine gunners mowed down entire battalions of them almost to a man.  2,400 Germans died at Avocourt that day, the same casualty count of the British Army at D-Day, and all for a tiny corner of the battlefield.

The French military writer Lt. Colonel de Mallary led a counter-attack to plug the lines, but was mortally wounded soon afterwards by a shell that severed both his legs.  His son, a young subaltern, heard his father was wounded, but not how bad: meeting with his father’s superior officer, he proudly asked, “Are you pleased with my father, mon colonel?”  The colonel could only reply with, “Oh, mon pauvre petit !”

Machines do not grow tired, but men do, and both armies were showing signs of weariness.  A German lieutenant colonel in his prime died of a heart attack.  Medical officers warned of stress, and officers complained that German units were starting to surrender without compunction, or refusing to go over the top.  Falkenhayn assessed the situation coldly at the end of March: “owing to the peculiar conformation we could not use these successes to bring our artillery far enough forward, and consequently the preparatory work here had to be continued.  But “steadily, the grey tide inched forward”.  The Kaiser’s speech on April 1 revealed for the first time Germany’s intention to crush France here and now.

Kiliel Week
      DAY FIVE: Favourite Solo Moment

Not only are the pair amazing together, but Tauriel and Kili are also brilliant characters when apart as well. Both are strong willed and hot headed but loyal to a fault, which is shown within these scenes

Kili isn’t willing to let anyone fight his battles while he hides. It is against his upbringing and beliefs, and he is willing to defy his uncle- his role model- in order to follow what he thinks is right
Tauriel draws a weapon on her superior and father figure in the name of what is right. She won’t let the dwarves die, despite the two species hostilities, because she cares for them
