“So how are things going between you and (Y/N)?” Ubbe asked teasingly as he hit Ivar’s shoulder.

“What do you mean?” Ivar asked looking thought narrowed eyes at his brother.

“As if you wouldn’t know. We all know that there’s something going on between (Y/N) and you. You were close as kids but now you two are always together.” Ubbe said looking at his brother.

“Between me and (Y/N) is nothing. She’s my only friend and she helps me, that’s all!” Ivar affirmed looking at his brother.

“Ubbe, don’t stress him so much! We both know that (Y/N) haves higher standards than him.” Sigurd said making Ivar angry, he never understood why Sigurd hated him so much.

“Are you sure that you’re not talking about yourself, Sigurd?” you asked as you entered in the Great Hall. He looked at you stunned, you knew that he liked you, almost every single person in Kattegat liked you and every man wanted to sleep with you, to bad that your heart belonged to someone else.

You went to Ubbe and hugged him before you stood by Ivar’s side and touched his shoulder .

“You have to come with me, I have to show you something.” you whispered in his ear, his smell filling your lungs, intoxicating you. Ivar nodded and you started to walk, Ivar crawling right behind your back.

“Where are we going?” he asked as you exited the village and headed to the woods.

“We are going in two places. But why are you asking, don’t you trust me, my prince?” You smirked as you turned to look at him and he laughed, one of his genuine smiles, the ones that he showed to you only when you were alone.

“If I wouldn’t trust you, right now I would be anywhere else but not here with you.” he informed.

“I know.” you smiled over your shoulder.

“So you brought me to show me a bow and some arrows?” Ivar asked confused looking at you.

“I changed a little bit the angles and I wanted you to try it, see if it works better than the other ones.” you informed him. Ivar looked at you, smirking. He always appreciated your ideas and even if sometimes you failed he was always there to help you improve them.

“Why don’t you try yourself? You’re a good archer.” you smiled shyly at him, dropping your gaze to the ground.

“I may be good, but you’re one of the best, I tried them myself but I need your opinion too.” Ivar took the bow and the arrows, his gaze still lingering on your body. He spotted a target, a big tree that was far away from you. He pulled the arrow and the sting and concentrated on the target, he released the arrow and it went flying straight into the point at whom he was looking. It was faster than any other arrow he ever sent flying. He turned around and looked at you, pride and admiration painted on his face.

“You’re the best.” he affirmed and you ran to him, dropping on your knees so you could sneak your hands around his waist. Your head was resting on his shoulder and his arms were around you. He knew how happy you were when something that you created reached your standards. “We could use a lot more of this new bows on our raids.” you smiled up at him and kissed his cheek.

“Come, I still need to show you something.” You ran deeper into the woods, Ivar following you. You came to a clearing and went to the two wolves sitting on the ground. You caressed the black one’s head and the other one moved to sit on your lap. You started to caress both of them.

“You got another set of animals to take care off.” He crawled closer to you even if the wolf in your arms was growling threateningly. He let both wolves smell him and then removed your hand from the black one’s head as he started to play in it’s fur.

“He reminds me of you.” you said after a while in which you just stared at each other.

“What do you mean? He’s free to go, to run, to do whatever he wants. I’m just a cripple.” Ivar said disgusted at himself.

“You’re not just a cripple and he can’t walk either. She takes care of him. He’s just like you, Ivar. His legs are twisted too, he depends on her. If she would leave he will be left alone, but she loves him and she’s always by his side. Sometimes when she leaves he starts to crawl after her. And he takes care of her too, even on his condition.” You told him the story, scratching the female wolf on behind her ears.

“Why do you tell me this? What is the meaning of this, (Y/N)?” You looked at Ivar, your eyes sparkling with something that he never saw in anyones eyes until now. Instead of talking you let your lips meet his, in a soft, shy peck. Ivar stood there stunned, not knowing what to do. I felt good to have you like that, when you tried to pull away from him, his hands pressed you to him. His lips moved on yours, deepening the kiss. You made out in the clearing for hours, while the wolves slept next to you providing you heat.

You broke the kiss in desperate need for air. You an Ivar both smiled but then you realized that you should be home by now. You stood up and Ivar looked at you confused, realizing just now how fast the hours passed.

You and Ivar went walked side by side o the village, talking silently about defense and attack in war and about other things that needed to be improved at your equipment.

A few weeks passed by then and Ivar ignored you totally and this only made you angry and moody. And may the Gods damn it, if you were going to do nothing about this. If he didn’t wanted you to be more than friends , fine , but he didn’t had the right to act like this with you, not after so much years.

“Where is your bother?” you yelled at Sigurd as you entered in the Great Hall.

“Which one of them?” he asked cockily .

“Don’t play dumb Sigurd ?” you yelled again and he flinched, he knew how wild you were in the moment when someone made you angry.

“At Floki.” you turned around as soon as you heard the answer and ran over there, adrenaline and anger burning in your veins.

“How do you dare do something like this to me?” you yelled as soon as you spotted Ivar. You took one sword and ran to him. Ivar took a shield trying to defense himself. “How do you dare to act as if I’m a cheap whore? After all this years when I stood beside you, you just decided that I’m not good enough, Ivar! After everything that I have done for you, now you act as if you don’t know me.” You yelled hitting the shield with your sword over and over.

“What the hell are you talking about woman?” Ivar asked angrily, hitting your hand with the shield, you dropped the sword and he dropped the shield. Your hand was ready to collapse with his face when he caught both your writs and hold them tight bringing you on you knees in front of you. “What is the meaning of all of this?” he yelled back at you, anger burning in his eyes.

“How do you dare as if I’m nothing to you? You avoided me all this time as if I’m a hoe and you don’t want people to see you next to me. If you didn’t wanted me you should have just said. But instead you decided to act as if I’m nothing after all the things that I gave to you Ivar. I gave you everything, everything, Ivar…” you sobbed against his chest and that’s when it hit him. He knew that he shouldn’t have acted like that but he was concerned and scared. He thought that you kissed him only because you pitied him but now he saw that it’s wasn’t pity but it was love. He felt strange knowing that someone felt something like that for him since love was something that he never thought he will feel or someone will feel for him.

“It’s not the fact that I don’t want you.” he whispered in your ear, letting go of your wrist and bringing you in his arms. “Gods know that I want you. But could you really love me, a cripple?” he asked waiting for your answer to hit him.

“You’re not just a cripple to me. You’re my best friend, the one that fights me and helps me to improve things around here. You are always here with me and I’m thankful. What I feel for you didn’t started today or yesterday or in the day when I kissed you, it didn’t appeared all of the sudden. This feeling haves it roots in the day when I met you and it just grew by the years. I’m not lying to you when I say that I love you.” Ivar looked at you, his eyes searching for yours as your gaze fell on your lap. He lifted your chin and held your look for a while. There was nothing soft and you knew that it will never be. It was lustful and dark but still it was all that you wanted, all that you pried at the Gods for and when his lips meet your for the second time in your life you knew that the Gods gave you what you prayed for and you were never going to let it go.

You and Ivar were united by more than your friendship, by more than your love. The Gods bonded your souls from before you were even born and just like the wolves in the woods you were going to stay always by each others side.

Imagine accidentally telling Ivar that you like him II

I’m really sorry, I’m a bit late. I was planing on posting this last night but something happened and I wasn’t able to. Hope you’ll enjoy. Still I apologize for all spelling or grammar mistakes.

That night was restless. Memories of what happened today were haunting you, not letting you to sleep. Lack of Ivar’s reaction and his blank face, like rope, wrapped around your chest and did not let you to breath. How could you be so stupid to develop feelings towards  Ivar the Emotionless?

Morning after sleepless night was -the morning-. Not only that you were about to go on your first raid, but you had to face consequences of you big mouth. Not to mention that you’ll be on boat with your father, Floki, Helga, Tanaruz and of course Ragnarsons. These fifteen  days will be nightmare.
When you arrived on shore of Kattegat, there was not a lot of people that you know. Most of them were warriors of earls who joined you to help revenge the Legend. Your father stayed to take care of one customer, so you had to come alone. You almost jumped out of joy when you noticed Floki near your boat. He was boarding supplies and weapons.
-Hi, Floki.- you said while grabbing one big box to help him. -Hey, Y/N.- He smiled, glad that somebody actually care to help him. Ubbe and Hvitserk should have done that by now but they were probably still sleeping.  -So, where are Helga and Tanaruz?- You asked to distract your mind with something rather than how boxes are heavy or  how you’ll survive fifteen days on boat with Ivar. -They went to gather some herbs in forest. In case somebody get wounded.- he explained.
Sun was getting higher in sky and shore was getting crowdier. You turned your head looking for you father. Instead you noticed five boys on one of the docks. Bjorn was shouting and wildly explaining something with his hands. -They could come and help us.- You snorted.  Floki made strange face expression. - They are sons of Ragnar. They are above this peasant work.- His sarcasm made you smile. You looked again in intention to figure out what Bjorn could be possibly be so angry for. But it was when you realized that pair of blue eyes were observing you. Uncomfortable feeling woke up in your stomach and your heart sped up.
Sharp pain on  finger made you snap your head back. Red, thick fluid was slowly running down to your palm and dripping on cause of you injury. Bunch of swords barely wrapped in thin layer of material. You bit your tongue not to curse. -You should watch what are you doing, Y/N.- Floki looked at you with amused grin. You raised your eyebrow at him. He obviously had something to say. -He came to me last night.-
Oh no. No. You hoped that Ivar would keep his mouth shut for once. -And?- you tried to sound not so interested as you were. -He asked me for advice.- Floki smirked. -About women. He asked what man should do if woman likes him. And when I ask him which girl is he talking about, he shrugged and said that he is only curious- You mentally sighed. -Why would you tell me that?- you tried to cover treble in your voice. Floki giggled.  -You know Y/N, telling Ivar that you love him is not so brave, but loving Ivar is brave.- Your heart dropped in your feet. -What are you talking about?- You narrowed your eyebrows. Acting was never your thing. -Floki is many things, but not blind.- With that, he jumped on boat.
-Y/N!- Hvitserk called. You turned around to face him. -Ivar wants to speak with you.- he pointed towards dock where Ivar sat alone now. -Why?- you asked defensively. -I don’t know.-
You could feel his gaze while you walked to him. You tried to ignore knot in your stomach that was making you sick. You had no idea how he could react. All these years of being around him only taught you that he is unpredictable. You could never guess his reaction. -Sit.- he commanded the moment you reached him. You hated when somebody tell you what to do, and he knows it, but now you were too anxious to care. You obeyed and sat next to him, still making some distance between you two.
Silence was tearing your soul and nerves and when you were sure he wasn’t going to tell anything soon, you snapped. -Ivar, you don’t have to feel obligated to like me just because I like you.- The thing that made you two so close is that you both attached hardly. People saw you as cold and selfish.- I know that is hard to develop love interest in someone.- You didn’t want him to feel pressure around you. That would hurt even more.
-I like you too.- -I know, it’s just…- You eyes widened. -Wait, what?- Your eyes met his ocean blue ones. - I love you, to be honest.- There was way too long silence before he continued. -I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t do that to you. You deserve so much better than me.- For a moment, angry, frustrated Ivar was gone. -There is so much wrong with me. And yet you fell for me.- Vulnerable. The word you could never connect to Ivar. And there he was. His face expression calm and his voice soft. If your injury didn’t hurt that much you’d say it’s a dream. -Why?- he almost whispered.
Then, everything happened fast. You were leaning in and your lips met. He was surprised a bit, but didn’t think twice when he kissed you back. His lips so soft and warm that made you forget everything around you. It was just you and Ivar. You pulled away to take shaky breath. -Do I need reason to love you?-

That getting stuck in ffxv was a cute idea, but can you do something where the choco-bros get stuck in our world, and end up meeting the reader. You can decide if the reader lets them chill in their house or not. I just thought it would be funny seeing the boys being like "its the same but not whats goin' on here"

Oh! OHOHOHOHO. You have touched on a favourite genre of mine! (I legit love portal fantasy and have at least one series planned based around an earthlings adventures in another world. I’m not kidding. Thank) I hope you enjoy the brief adventure into Brisbane because these guys are gonna have to deal with Australia.

This is not Duscae.

Where they were and how they came to be there still bothered Noct. The sun beat down with absolute fury, despite the rather lush Gardens they found themselves in, already burning Prompto’s pale skin and irritating the hell out of Gladio. The worst thing was the humidity. Under the shade of a sprawling tree, Noctis stretched out on his jacket and groaned.

“It’s too hot.”
Sitting beside him, Ignis’s frown deepened, still studying the small map they managed to procure thanks to a friendly young lady they bumped into on the grounds of what seemed like a university. She’d given them directions deeper into the city, quoting street names that had no relevance or meaning, mentioning shops none of them ever heard of before. They thanked her and she darted away, a looking a little nervous. Noct didn’t blame her.

“It’ll ease as it heads towards evening.” The strategist said thoughtfully.

“You hope!” Prompto gave a disgusted grunt and rolled onto his belly on the green grass. “Where even are we?”

“Brisbane.” Gladio spoke, back against the base of the tree. He’d been getting looks all days, more nervous than normal, though a few admiring smiles had been cast his way. “The girl said Brisbane. This is it’s Botanical Gardens.” His rubbed at a scratch on his ear, a souvenir from an shrieking black and white bird that swooped him like he was prey. Noct had doubled over laughing as the large man had run a good few hundred metres before the bird left him alone.

“Which means what?” Noct asked, frowning up at the tree branches above them all. His stomach growled, complaining of hunger. But they were without the Regalia and their gil seemed to be of no use here. The currency were coloured sheets of plastic paper, silver and gold coins of varying sizes. They hadn’t dared try again after the first disastrous attempt at getting water and some food. The shop keep had waved them off, telling them to go exchange their money whatever it was.

“This is no good here, mate!” He said in broad slightly nasal tones, louder than necessary He’d accepted Ignis’ apology with a small shrug and a smile and a “No worries”and directions to a bank.
Instead the four returned to the garden to collect themselves. At least it was peaceful there.

“We’re no where I recognise, unfortunately.” Ignis said, folding the map away.

“Which means we’re lost.” Gladio finished, earning a frown from the bespectacled man.

“Only for the moment.”

Noct opened his mouth to cut the argument off before it could begin when loud feminine voice rang through the air.

“Hey!” And suddenly there was a dog. A big white furred dog with bright blue eyes running into the midsts.
“What the-?” Noct struggled to his knees trying to fend the bouncing and very friendly beast from licking his face.

“Dammit, Floki, down!” You, the dogs owner, race to pull your exuberant pup away from the four men. Cheeks burning you whistle and Floki barked, bounding towards you, dragging his leash behind. “Bloody huskie.” you mutter as he darted away from your grip. You give the Prince a sheepish shrug. “Sorry. He’s likes meeting people.”

Noct blinked and wiped at his face. “That’s, that’s fine.” He said, eyeing you warily. You seemed friendly enough, one hand red with friction burn from the leash. Prompto though was on his feet, camera out.

“He’s so cute! You said his name was Floki?” At your nod he grinned and started calling your dog. “Come on, Floki, come here boy.” The dog does not obey.

You winced. Noct rose to his feed, brushing his clothes down, Ignis already on his feet beside him. Gladio chuckled.

“Cute dog.” He said and your cheeks burn again. It’s kind of cute to look at, Noct thinks as you sigh after the dog playfully racing around Prompto, leash circling ever tighter around the photographer’s feet.

“Thanks.” You look at Noct. “You alright, mate? You all look a little wrecked.”

He makes a face. “Hot that’s all,”

“And rather lost.” Ignis cut in. He gives you a faint and proper smile, all business.

“Yeah?” Floki trotted up to lean his weight against your side giving the four a big doggy grin. You snatched his leash and wrap it around your hand. “Well I pretty much live in the city.” You give the four a once over. They were covered in sweat, lips dry. You nod as if making a decision. “Look, just let me get you all some water and we’ll figure this out, okay?”

“Seriously?” Prompto joins the other four.

You shrug. “Least I can do.” You waved towards the univesity. “Come on, there’s a cafe up here. We need a drink anyway.” You tugged on Floki’s leash and he stood.

Noct grins. “I’m Noct. This is Ignis, Prompto and Gladio.” Each of them incline their head in turn and you wave.
“I’m _____. Come on. This way.” You give them a small smile and you wonder. Floki didn’t like most people, friendly as he was. What made these four so special?

Biting your lip, you lead them onto the QUT campus and towards a cafe. Something felt weird. Not scary weird or you wouldn’t be anywhere near them, just… different. It drew you towards them and despite the strangeness of it all, you wanted to know more.

A/N: UGh that was terrible. I tried, friend, I tried. I may redo this with an OC because this idea tickles me. Any interest friend?

  • Athelstan: We do safety training every year or after an accident. We've never made it a full year. This particular time, I was reaching for a supply box on the top shelf, when one Viking, who shall remain nameless, kicked the ladder out from under me and yelled...
  • [cut to Floki]
  • Floki: [laughing hysterically] Hey, Athelstan, how's it hanging?
Vikings 3x01 AKA an ode to Ragnar/Athelstan

fuck. me.

that was such a good season opener i can’t even. just, everything. it set up the conflicts/romances/battle strategy of the coming season, reminded us of the friendships we love and the characters that deserve a good smack (I’m looking at u Rollo, you piece of shit) and had some kick ass fight scenes.

and the OTP was strong in this one. I’m talking like, not five mins in to the ep, we get Ragnar literally saying, and I quote; “wherever you go, I shall follow” to Athelstan while Aslaug looks on in dismay/jealousy. i just can’t with the newly crowned King and his husband priest. their easy interaction. their trust. their respect for each other’s culture/religion/boundaries. *brb crying forever*

their first scene together in S3, Ragnar compares their gods, placing them on equal standing and giving their judgement equal weight (in contrast to Aethelwulf later in the ep, who disses the Viking’s gods and flat out states that monotheism and polytheism cannot coexist peacefully side by side).

Ragnar remembers an important Biblical figure without prior prompting, showing that he’s not only asked Athelstan for information on his faith, (cos we know Athelstan doesn’t volunteer that info due to the risk of appearing non-Viking) Ragnar has taken that info on board and cared enough to remember it. he’s not just pandering to Athelstan’s interests, he’s genuinely interested in his boyfriend’s faith and culture. futhermore, he literally calls Athelstan ‘the Jesus to my St John the Baptist’, like, for real. he acknowledges the depth and importance of their relationship with Biblical references. what a geek.

and then later in the ep, Ragnar listens to Athelstan’s advice and actually takes it on board, trusting him to be his translator, and actually saying out loud he trusts him to look after his interests (contrast with Lagertha’s confidant, who betrayed her as soon as her back was turned). “there’s no one i trust more than you” he tells Athelstan, whilst in a room with Lagertha, Bjorn, Floki etc etc.

I can’t help but tie it into Bjorn’s storyline, where he’s desperately trying to get the woman he loves to stay behind, out of the conflict where its safe. Ragnar doesn’t have to fight Athelstan to get him to stay behind- Athelstan immediately agrees. “if that’s what you want me to do, then that’s what I’ll do”.

Athelstan knows Ragnar respects his fighting abilities. and Ragnar knows Athelstan can take care of himself. but last time they went on a raid Athelstan was captured by the enemy and crucified and Ragnar basically fell apart and made terrible life choices until he got Athelstan back.

Ragnar isn’t strong enough to lose Athelstan twice, and Athelstan knows it

so he protects him, by making sure Ragnar will never have to suffer that fate again. Athelstan loves Ragnar more than he loves his own pride (unlike Porrun, who cares more about her reputation than Bjorn’s feelings/fears, and would rather go to battle whilst pregnant than be left out of the fighting). but Athelstan sacrifies his own chances for glory/respect and comfort (he hates being left with Saxons, who hate/fear him, and remind him of his old life and all his mixed feelings about it) and vows to use the time alone usefully, protecting Ragnar’s his interests for him whilst he’s away, and setting up a new home for them in Wessex, for Ragnar to recuperate in when he’s defeated their newest enemies

and then we get Aethelwulf’s wife whose name I can’t remember being all touchy feely with Athelstan, which Athelstan Does Not Want, kissing his crucifixion scars without permission, which is YET ANOTHER contrast to his easy interaction with Ragnar, who gently caressed Athelstan’s hand earlier in the episode, looking at his scars but not doing anything that he knew Athelstan would be uncomfortable with. not letting the scars and what they symbolise fester and hold sway over them, but carefully addressing the issue and not pushing Athelstan for more than he was ready to give - versus the Princess, who just barged right in there, feeling him up and ascribing her own meaning and understanding of the scars onto Athelstan and expecting him to just agree/be cool with it. i mean will you look at this:

he’s so gentle ajfasihnfkjed

i just love love love how the writers are not letting this ship die. yeah they trot out new lady love interests for the both of them every season, but at the same time they undermine and cut through those het love connections with the next stroke of their pens- by constantly and continually underlining how much Ragnar and Athelstan value and understand one another in a way that none of the other relationships on the show can compare to. *sobs endlessly over the perfection of this pairing*

just. take it away. the feels. I can’t. don’t touch me.

I love this show from time to time, but I’ll be very brief, because I love it more for pure action than the show itself, and I’m loosing interest with the last season.

Ragnar - I love him, covered in blood, yelling at everyone, or when he’s treating Aslaug like shit (I don’t like her).

I was so sad he wasn’t with Lagertha so early in the show. She was amazing, he shouldn’t have traded her for a poor excuse for a wife he now has. Their marriage is an absolute joke to me, and I don’t even find her pretty at all (which, for Ragnar, seemed to be like an important thing).

Moreover, she doesn’t really care about Ragnar, as she does about power. We can see it in the last season, when she believes Ragnar will die and she will be able to seize his place.

What I loved most about him was his relationship with Athelstan. It was the most beautiful and surprisingly profound for a show like Vikings. I was pleasantly surprised, until the show writers decided to chicken out before the death of Athelstan.

The fact both were that open-minded, and that they both kinda loved the two religions, was really interested. You could see the conflict between their gods inside of them. And you could see a deep connection, even stronger than love, between the two, until after he died.

The fact he’s the one to convince Ragnar to spare Floki, not really for him but for Helga, by appearing to him after his death, made my heart ache. It was a knife into the wound again.

I will forever cry over that lost ultimate relationship. And if you don’t trust me, I’ll just say this : Athelstan is the only person Ragnar told “I love you” to. Not to mention the many times he showed more than concerned interest for a friend. But meditate on that, because no wife of his had the privilege of him saying “I love you”. Only Athelstan.

Athelstan - Of course, I would mention just after Ragnar, this cinnamon roll of a monk turned Viking (I would have been down for a threesome with Lagertha btw, but this ship has sailed on so many levels now).

His conflict was genuine and wonderful. I loved also how he taugh Ragnar about his religion, and how he was willing to learn from him too. One of their most beautiful scenes together would be when he taught him how to pray to God, imo. (and I’m not religious whatsoever, just sayin’)

But I will be forever bitter over the fact they ruined everything minutes before he was murdered by Floki.

I loved every inch of this character and his evolution, even though I didn’t care for him and Judith. But now that he has a child, I would give anything for Ragnar to find out and take him to raise him as his own (or Judith giving him to him, acknowledging his huge history with Athelstan).

But the fact they made him re-discover his religion made everything before like it doesn’t matter at all. And I felt sad about it, because it was THE plot I loved so much. I felt they diminished the importance and purpose of the character doing it that way.

So when Floki killed him afterwards, even though I saw it coming, it was the last straw.

Floki - I always loved the way he was. His little madness “seduced” me sometimes.

He was my favorite at some point, but I couldn’t stand behind his hatred for Athelstan. I was so sad they didn’t get along, because they were the best, imo. But well…

It made me very conflicted when he killed him, because I knew Floki was loosing his mind, but still pretty much loved him. So, this was hard to condemn him as well as praise him.

He suffered a great amount in the last season, and I found it sad it was all about him loving Ragnar and Ragnar not seeing or really care for it.

But ultimately, I grew tired of him and his principles, so I don’t know for now what I think about all this. But this is probably the “season 4″ effect.

I’ll remember always, however, how he was with Ragnar against King Horick, and the scene where he reveals he has not stop being faithful to Ragnar, was amazing. I cheered like a little girl at the candy store that day.

Lagertha - I always loved that one because, not only she was beautiful, but also strong and she deserved what she took from others.

Ragnar treated her like shit, but she constructed herself as a queen, and took power from her old Earl (who initially “took” it from her but well). I kinda knew she was gonna kill him.

I just didn’t find it useful that we got again the storyline with the loss of a child. I though we already established she couldn’t have children, so why make her go through it again ? Seeing her in all that blood made me so sad. She wants them, but no matter what, she knows fate won’t do her the favor.

I hope she gets respected as an Earl very soon. We’ll see in 4B.

Rollo - Well, I have trouble to “care” for him. Not that I don’t like him, he even makes me laugh sometimes. But he’s always ending up betraying Ragnar, so in the end, he’s not even a surprise anymore.

But I kinda loved his story with his now wife, how he gained her trust and learned french for her was kinda cute. Especially coming for a mountain of muscles with not much of a brain as Rollo is.

Because, let’s face it, he’s not as smart as Ragnar.

Other characters - I liked Bjorn from time to time, but he sometimes can be so much of a dick, just like his father.

His whole storyline with Porrun made me so sad for him, though. Because he was willing to stay with her and support her, and didn’t care about her looks. But she couldn’t see right past it, and became so selfish towards him and their daughter.

Ultimately, she abandoned everyone, so it was only logical he would be a little lost after that.

I’m just sad he was not really able to snap out of it and take care of his daughter himself. He could have been a great father, but he never seem to care anymore about anything but proving his father wrong.

That’s a shame.

I hate Aslaug as much as I hate Karen in Shameless (well, Karen is a little on top, I have to admit, but not by far).

I, however, absolutely loved Kwenthrith too. She’s an absolute but amazing and necessary lunatic. I love her style and I’m willing to see more (but I’m not convinced she had Ragnar’s child, I know he’s amazingly fertile, but I’m sensing it’s just a ruse, I don’t know why).

I do not care about others.

Season 4 - I didn’t love season 4, part A. I was told there were 10 more episodes to come, so we’ll see.

But I felt they were more “filler” episodes, like the one where he spend the entire episode in the house with his asian slave, bathing her. I’m sorry but I think I almost fell asleep at least 3 times in a row that night. It was BORING as hell !

It might be the fact that Vikings is a bloody action show. Most of the time, you’re in front of the screen, watching Vikings kill people and battle the shit out of everything.

So yeah, when it’s slow, you notice. Moreover, they didn’t manage to make the “slow parts” interesting. It doesn’t work for me anyway.

I’ll end my verdict on the last episode of the season, even though I don’t know (and fail to care) when it’s coming back. But for now, I’m feeling they shouldn’t have take the 20 episodes, and stick to a pure 10 without the useless parts. It would have been better.

But they started to disappoint me since their treatment of Athelstan’s death, so… At this point, any bold move could bring me back, but I don’t know. I hope they surprise me.

I’ve loved this show before, but no more “filler” episodes, and more like the battle between the two brothers please !

Vikings 3x08 Review

I think the Vikings fandom here on tumblr is missing some considerations

Okay, I’m gonna try and be as quick and concise as I can.
(I lied)

General thoughts on the directing of the episode: it’s been a long time since we’ve had some good action on Vikings. I liked how they handled the raid, rhythmically speaking, the two points of view (viking-frank) were handled well, giving preference of course to the Vikings, what are we talking about?

Nice detail: I’m usually always rooting for the Vikings. For the first time, I was hesitant. I really, really like Gisla. And the Count. AND her accent, which I read is pretty accurate because the actress is, indeed, french. But I think this was done on purpose. We wanted Ragnar and Lagertha and Rollo and Bjorn and Floki to win the battle, but we also wanted Gisla to succeed in rising her soldier’s spirits, thanks to her faith and determination.

Also, I think Hirst wanted to describe on first impact the franks as a willfull population. I appreciate that. They had to be different from the English. The show is about Vikings, but a perception of other cultures’ differences is essential to make it a good show.

On where this is heading: Damn, I don’t know??? I hope for some Athelnar come what may

Lagertha and her male slaves: Nothing to add to her final speech before having sex with Kalf. Gurl knows what she’s doing. She better kill him, even though he’s kind of like a sneaky teddybear.
Rollo: I squealed. A lot. That’s all I’m gonna say. Also, (I lied), LOVED the eye sex with Gisla. I could tell she was thinking ‘omg viking guy rocking that bun hard’. Also, a moment which made me think was when Rollo killed a viking with an axe for having doubts about climbing the towers. Rollo is a murderer. And no, not like every other viking. He gets off killing people, he kills them out of impulses, in and out of battle, for various reasons that have to do with his cracked mind. Rollo is a murderer, but I like him all the same. Speaking about cracked minds…
Floki: I don’t hate him. I actually like where his character is going. He was always a fool. And now we’re seeing it for real. In his monologue inside the burning tower, I’m sure you’ve all noticed the change in personality. In modern times, it could be bipolarity, it could be some form of schizophrenia, or split personality disorder. But I don’t think it’s important to give the disease a name, since in vikings time, they didn’t use them, nor they believed they could cure them with pills. I’m never gonna bash a character for their wrongful actions, anyways. I loved Athelstan so much, but I am aware of the fact that Hirst killed him, not Floki. Floki had no choice. He is being weak, sure. So is Ragnar. I actually like to see vikings having the kind of problems that we might have - fear of losing reason, desire for revenge, and so on.

Ragnar:  Okay, read this well. I don’t like the kind of bashing he is receiving right now. You call him selfish. You blame him for the failure of the attack. You say he’s changed. But, to me, if you say something like this, you never understood his personality at all.
First of all, since the beginning of the series, we see Ragnar partially disinterested in fighting - he’s a farmer, not a fighter (he’s not his brother). He always stays behind, he always watches things from a distance, until he thinks it’s the right time to enter the battlefield. So, in this episode, he doesn’t just ‘stand by and watch his people die’, he does what he’s always done. And be aware, this is not being selfish. This is knowledge. Ragnar is a king. He has to learn everything he can from a battle loss. He gave Floki the leadership not only for revenge, but because he probably knew they weren’t going to take Paris (Athelstand’s words), and he knew he couldn’t have taken the blame for it. He couldn’t risk it. Is this wrong? Considering Floki killed someone who could have been very, very useful for the raid, not really. Considering Floki took away his only chance in life at happiness, not really.
the raid was bound to fail. The Franks outsmarted them, just like Ecbert did in Season 2.

So, my hope? I want Ragnar to show he can outsmart them all.

Delicious Athelnar moment at the end. But I’m not going to talk further. I said the things that I thought the most important.
