I have to face one of the Organization’s member’s soon. I might not survive the fight. And if I do, it might be because I gave in to the darkness.

The main issue I have with the term “woke” is not only is it overused and shallow, but it promotes that same “us vs. them” mentality that I believe does aid in keeping us from unifying. The “aware” versus “the unaware” and it’s such a pointless dichotomy. Like, okay. You’ve noticed and acknowledged some shit and don’t mind talking about it. Good for you. And the way in which people use it is lowkey elitist as hell because there are many of us who don’t have the resources to be uber knowledgeable on social issues and there are people on here who actively and adamantly promote not interacting with anyone whom they don’t perceive as “woke”. While I do understand not particularly wanting to associate with people who aren’t like minded it’s like shit. Being black in America and pretty much anywhere is already hard enough. I know a lot of us wish we could go back to being blissfully ignorant and not knowing certain things ourselves because we know it makes navigating through life easier but some of y’all wanna simultaneously mock those who choose to be? Come on.

quick no time to explain we have to go on a two month long road trip and ignore our responsibilities as young adults in favour of taking hipster-like pictures and going to over populated tourist attractions unironically
