NEW YORK POST: Pioneering Broadway Actress Hits Fashion Week

Ali Stroker doesn’t get to model very much. The Broadway actress and “Glee” alum, who just finished an acclaimed revival of “Spring Awakening,” after all, is paralyzed from the neck down, and has to use a wheelchair.

But when designer Rachel Antonoff asked her to lead a song and dance number for her fashion presentation Thursday night, the 28-year-old couldn’t refuse. “We grew up together, and Rachel is actually the one who introduced me to musical theater,” said Stroker, after singing a playful rendition of “A Secretary Is Not a Toy,” from “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

“I remember staging a version of ‘Annie’ in her backyard in the Jersey Shore 20 years ago,” she added. But more important, Stroker, who became the first actor in a wheelchair to perform on Broadway last year, said she thought it was important to offer people a different perception of what a fashion model, or leading actress, could look like.

“When I first was auditioning for plays, no one would cast me, because I think they were afraid,” said the petite blonde. “I want to show others with disabilities that they can be on TV or work in fashion or do whatever they want to do.

Yet the singer and activist will be sitting the rest of fashion week out. “I am giving a TED Talk in March, and I am performing in Lincoln Center, so I have a lot of work to do.”

Live It, Wear It

“Live It, Wear It” is a Canada based t-shirt web store curated by graphic artist Mark Stoddart. Marks’ graphic designs celebrate some of the most recognizable, prolific and revolutionary figures in the history of the fight for human rights, athletics, art, and more. His designs pay tribute to people such as 1968 Mexico Olympics athlete John Carlos, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, Jimi Hendix, and more. His designs also include shirts celebrating Black Power movements such as #BlackLivesMatter and more. Mark has worked hard on all the designs featured on the site and that hard work is reflected in the quality of his clothes.

I actually just wanted to post a little thank you message in a few weeks because I’m close to 10k , but after being tagged by @aka707 under the wonderful valentine’s art (x) and by @myneighbortatara as their tumblr crush (x) I’m now full of love ;D and I decided to at least give you a little list of bloggers which make me happy and my time in this fandom so much better (some of them because they talk to me and some because I just really like to see them on my dash. I like all these blogs/bloggers for different reasons).

  • Had a day of workshops at work as it’s a shorter month, which equates to less fun time.
  • Went over last year’s Japanese again as my next course is about to begin in a couple of weeks!
  • Walked and jogged furbaby at night as the day’s workout.

Hiya! I read your answer to that anon who was asking your thoughts on the whole matter, and I really liked it. You said you still have hope though... really? I'm not trying to be rude at all, I swear, I'm just wondering... how can you have hope but think that he fathered a child? If he really did, which I don't really believe but then again I seem to have no other choice now, then that MUST mean he's not with Harry and he said yes to a long term closet. Hope you can help me understand :) x

I think it just depends on what you’re hoping for. If you’re hoping for a big Larry coming out and a big lawsuit in which Simon Cowell breaks down and confesses all his sins followed by a televised Larry wedding, then yeah, there may be disappointment on the horizon. But if you’re hoping for the best possible outcomes for Louis, Harry, Liam, Niall, etc., then I think there is a lot of hope to be had.

The problem right now is that a lot of people want everyone else to ascribe to one of two possible scenarios- Larrie or anti. Whereas there’s about 100 different possibilities that fall somewhere in between and if you land somewhere in that area or if you don’t have a definitive answer or opinion for every question, you’re going to get shit on from both sides.

I don’t want to play the game anymore. Louis has told us he has a kid now and I’m going to respect that even though there’s a lot of things I don’t understand about it. And Larry is still my OTP. I’m gonna be 85 and checking the internet from my nursing home waiting for them to get papped together having a casual lunch. That’s just the way it is.

it delights me that margarethe and ella’s dad had to be sharing a room before he left. (ella says “my room is the biggest, besides yours and fathers’” implying that they share the biggest room in the house) can you imagine. can you imagine margarethe and ella’s dad sleeping in the same bed. with her poking him with her giant cold feet.

im gonna go outside and observe the wildlife. pet some baby deer. illegally ride a horse. feed ducks bread. walk my cat. wear booty shorts and crop tops in nice weather. bop to what a feeling. pop some gum. wink at boys who’re ugly but think they’re shit when i give them confidence boosters. scowl at people i hate.
