Bushiroad Promises “Major Announcement” on Cardfight!! Online

This morning Bushiroad Inc.’s official Cardfight!! Online Twitter account tweeted a message foreshadowing a “major announcement” on July 31st. With the game having been announced over the weekend of July 4th at Anime Expo 2015 alongside statements that the game would be out within 2015, and that the open beta would begin late this year, the company’s most recent tweet is fueling speculation that tomorrow may be the day of the open beta. From what is known from the Cardfight!! Online Q&A sessions, the game will only allow cards from the G-Trial and G-Booster series onward at launch, but players that want to use older cards “won’t be disappointed.” The game will only be available in English, but the development team intends the game to be playable worldwide without region-based restrictions.

You know who needs more screen time? Yota! I know he’s dead but come on! He can still be there! Bushiroad is already going to crush my soul, why the hell not bring in the big guns!

Fairy Tail is getting an English TCG!

Attention Fairy Tail fans! Next Friday, the Weiss Schwarz Fairy Tail trading card game is coming out in English!

If you’ve ever been to a Japanese game shop, you know Weiss Schwarz is an omnipresent card game system with games for popular franchises like Lucky Star and Haruhi. Most of these never come to the States, but the Fairy Tail game is a happy exception. There will even be some packs that include cards signed by creator Hiro Mashima and other members of the Japanese anime voice cast, so check it out!

Cardfight!! Online Launches Steam Greenlight Campaign

Two hours ago Bushiroad set up an application to get Cardfight!! Online approved for Steam, Valve Corporation’s software distribution platform. The campaign requires fan support in order for the game to become available through Steam; readers with Steam accounts are encouraged to log in and demonstrate their support for the game in order to get it greenlit. Distribution through Steam would dramatically increase public exposure to both the online game and to the Cardfight!! Vanguard trading card game as a whole.

News: Bushiroad USA to Launch “Cardfight Online,” Touken Ranbu to See International Release

July 2nd, 2015. Today at Anime Expo 2015 in California, CEO Kidani Takaaki announced that Bushiroad Inc. will be launching an exclusive English-language product this year, titled Cardfight!! Online. The web-based game will be exclusive to the English format, and will have no Japanese equivalent; moreover, Bushiroad will also be bringing over G-Title Booster 01: Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- to the English-language format later this year, in keeping with their vision of synchronizing the English and Japanese game formats. A trailer for the game was uploaded shortly after the live announcement and is provided below.

In years past the original English-language Cardfight!! Vanguard fan community developed around the BYOND client Cardfight Capital, used to play the Cardfight!! Vanguard trading card game online through a manual (rather than automated) simulator. Cardfight Capital was shut down by Bushiroad in early 2013, deeply fragmenting the community and making it difficult to introduce new players to the game without having physical product on hand. While some fled to other, less successful clients to play Vanguard online with, the announcement of Cardfight!! Online points to a new officially-sponsored future for digital play of the Cardfight!! Vanguard trading card game.

[In Cardfight!! Vanguard, you start out as a Grade 0 card and slowly ‘ride’ up to a Grade 3 and/or ‘stride’ a Grade 4… = v=a So I’m just surprised Jijii is a Grade 2, given his rarity in the game loll

But oh well, its an April Fools joke anyway~ O vOa

News: Bushiroad Develops “Fight Table G” Electronic Light Display for Standing Fight Tables

At this year’s Great Vanguard Festival during the Tokyo Big Sight event from May 24th through the 26th, Bushiroad of Japan displayed an under-development version of the standing fight table popularized by the Cardfight!! Vanguard anime series. While holographic projection of the card game’s characters is still a long ways off, the Fight Table G seeks to functionally recognize the faces of licensed Cardfight!! Vanguard trading cards in real time and display their base power, shield value, critical and other key statistics to aid in cardfighting. The system also indicates boost, increases from triggers and attack targets. Previously standing fight tables were wholly decorative electronically-lit playmats, and exclusive to Bushiroad’s partner shop Card Kingdom.

Although several companies have produced toys in the likeness of similar systems from other card game franchises like Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Duel Disks, none have ever seriously attempted a professional projection system on this scale before. The G prototype has potential as a semi-portable system for avoiding human error in power and damage calculation, as well as other areas. It could one day be standardized for top 16 at major tournaments, just as the GIAS system is in the world of Cardfight!! Vanguard G. Three videos of the system in demo mode can be viewed below the cut.
