We made our way carefully down the steep path from the Taragarh fort to see Bundi palace. This is in better repair than the fort above, but lots of the palace is closed, perhaps never to be seen again. A pity because there are some real highlights. Elephants are a big decorative theme: the main gate has two large stone elephants on ledges on either side. One of the rooms is full of columns, with capitals made of four black elephants. Other rooms have murals painted in turquoise and others decorated with mirrors. It was also quite quiet which added to its charm.
