Brass nails and why I have them.

Ever since last night I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my brass fingernails. First of all. NO, they are not prosthesis. i have them for a specific reason.

Here’s what they look like:

another view

HERE’s is the reason:

I bite my nails all the time. constantly, idly, without thinking.

If you’re like me, and love giving back scratches, then having no nails is a problem:

Here’s how chose to fix this problem:

Shoot bullet, collect casing.

cut bullet.

The bullets have a taper inside. we will want the broader side of the taper to be outward on our nails, and the thinner side against the rear of the nail so there is no jutting up of material when they are glued on. Here’s what that taper looks like, one cylinder is flipped over to show how thick it is at the base:

clip, bend, and trim into a nail shape:

sand for a fine (BUT NOT CUTTING SHARP) edge on the front and smooth edges.

Glue with Krazy glue, it’s the best.

Amazing. the nails will stay on for about a week at a time before working themselves loose, when that happens just scrape the glue off and reapply.

Unless you happen to have reached into the closet and snagged it on your shelves and broke the nail off on your pinky cuz holy god that hurt. reapply anyways.

Also these work as screwdrivers, knives and various other multi-tools at the tip of your finger, so that’s pretty rad. I don’t know how odd i should feel about having done this, but i must say; it’s handy as hell and really fun to have nails again.

OH, also you can shine them with “brasso” or something but screw that, I’ve tried that and they get mirror bright and really annoyingly shiny. not my thing.

The Dyatlov Pass Incident occurred in the Ural mountains of Russia nearly 60 years ago. 9 experienced hikers were found frozen in the snow with unusual injuries and even more unusual circumstances surrounding their deaths.

A hiking group from the Ural PolyTechnical institute, lead by Igor Dyatlov, were hiking to Ortem, a category three hiking trip(the most difficult) The trip was no worry to the hikers(originally 8 men and 2 women) as they were all experienced hikers and skiers.

Before they set out on what would be the last leg of their journey one of the men, Yuri Yudin, did not feel well and had to leave early. This illness would save his life.

The group of 9 set up camp on the base of the mountain called Kholat Syakhl, also known as “Dead Mountain) in Mansi. It is unknown why they camped on the slope and not down near the forest where they would have more shelter from the elements. By the next morning all the hikers would be dead. Some of the bodies wuld not be found for 3 months.

Here is where their deaths become a mystery. It was determined they froze to death(6) or died of fatal injuries(3) however their bodoes were scattered up to 3000 meters from their tent, which had been cut open from the inside.

Yuri Krivonischenko and Yuri Doreschenko were found 2000 meters down the hill huddled together with a dead fire. Branches on the tree they were under were broken up to 5 meters high suggesting one of them climbed up the tree. They were both shoe less and only in their underwear. Between the cedar tree and the camp the bodies of Igor Dyatlov,  Zinaida Kolomogorova, and Rustem Slobodin were found in positions suggesting they tried to return to the camp. All of these bodies were found February 26, 1959.

It wasn’t until May 6 that year that the last four hikers would be found dead under 4 meters of snow in a ravine 2075 meters away from the tent. Lyudmilla Dubinina had been found face down in the ravine missing her tongue, lips, and eyes. She had also sustained a major chest fracture along with Zolotaryov, though neither had bruising on their bodies or soft tissue to suggest anything causing the fracture. Thibeaux-Brignolles had also sustained a major skull fracture. The injuries Thibeaux-Brignolles, Zolotaryov, and Dubinina sustained that lead to their deaths were made with a force as strong as a car crash said  Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny when asked.  Those who had died first had relinquished their clothing to the other as Zolotaryov was wearing Dubinina’s faux fur coat.

The nine hikers were the only people on the mountain that night, they had all died within 6-8 hours of their last meal, and they all left the tent by their own accord. Some hikers camping on a mountain a few kilometers away reported seeing strange orange orbs in the sky that night and the last picture on Krioneschenko’s camera showed some blurry orbs. It was also reported that at the funerals for the hikers their bodies held a deep tan, an almost orange one. Ultimately their death was ruled to be caused by an unknown force and may remain a mystery forever.

July 7 2017

I spent $200 to change just the hard drive thingie in my Macbook Pro (early 2011 model dude) because I think I’d rather keep this 10 pound baby rather than spend $1300+ for that new mac with like one earphone port and that’s all lol

Started this bujo thing idk if I’ll even use it for school I just want to have something to express myself in again

Realistic what’s in my pencil case!!

I’ve seen lots of these on Tumblr, however most of them consist of pictures of asthetic, expensive stationary taken on pristine white backgrounds with very high quality cameras. Not everyone has the tools to do that, so this is my try at it, as an average 14 year old girl, studying on a budget. Hopefully this will be a better representation of what most students have :)

I have two pencil cases that I use for school, because I am very extra and a hoarder. Don’t judge me haha. Both are from Supreme, and each cost me about €4.

In the first pocket of the rainbow checkerboard one (above ^) I have:

  • Various coloured PaperMate Inkjoy pens
  • 1 IKEA black gel pen
  • 4 United Office highliters
  • 1 dry Tipp-Ex mouse
  • 1 ruler that I got in France when I was about 3
  • 1 Supreme eraser
  • 1 correction fluid pen
  • 1 light blue Crayola Super Tips that I use as a highliter

In the second pocket I have:

  • 1 Supreme glue stick
  • Various drawing pencils ranging from 6B to 2H
  • A bunch of random colouring pencils that I’ve had for years, some are Staedtler ergosoft (my absolute favourite pencils ever!) and Staedtler Noris Club erasable, as well as some others
  • 1 Cein Chapstick
  • 1 Supreme sharpener
  • 1 rubber pencil thing from Tiger
  • 1 scissors that I’ve had for ages and can’t remember the brand name.

In the second pencil case I have:

  • Tesco stickynotes
  • Tesco record cards
  • Tesco sticky page markers
  • A ‘lil penguin sharpener and rubber that I just thought was v cute.
  • A 4 pack of purple pattern Washi Tape from Ale Hop
  • A 2 pack of gold and colourd Washi Tape from Tiger

So yeah, that’s the crapload of stuff I use for school! I’ve had some of this stuff for like 4 years, and bought some of it last week, I like it and use it and it works and just because it’s not super asthetically pleasing doesn’t mean it’s bad. (I’m not trying to drag any other studyblrs, their stuff and work is amazing and I love it!! I just feel like this sort of stuff needs a bit more representation within the community)

If you liked this is really appreciate if you could reblog it, get my voice heard ya know?

A little overview of my tiny/minimalist study space:

My desk usually has my laptop, water bottle, succulent, candle and my pencil pot on the top, (and sometimes a cup of tea or coffee) … my university notes are taken on my laptop.

My pencil pot holds my apple pencil, one or two pens/pencils and my essential oil. I try to keep most of my stationery in a pencil case on my shelf so my desk doesn’t get cluttered as it’s pretty small.

It also has a small shelf underneath on one side where I usually keep my polaroid printer, my iPad and my current bullet journal and the case that I sometimes keep it in.

I use the bottom drawer of my wardrobe to store my university textbooks as they are huge/ heavy/messy looking, and I also have a cube book shelf that holds a few planner supplies and books that I haven't yet read.

battle pain headcanons

so SOMEone asked for more battle injuries and i’m here to deliver:

  • Nocts gets stabbed by a Ronin and spends the next three days struggling to keep any solid food down while his stomach recovers.
  • Gladio dislocates a shoulder when his shield slams into an iron giant’s sword, Ignis has to pop it back in place immediately but it’s sore for over a week.
  • Ignis is too focused on healing Noct he gets smacked repeatedly by an MT unit and suffers an extended concussion
  • Prompto gets brass burns all over his exposed arms and neck where hot bullet casings flew out of the gun and touched him, he gets teased by the others because they look like hickeys
  • Noct gets yanked into a lake trying to catch the Arapamia, he climbs out wet and fishless with terrible whiplash
  • everybody gets stung by Killer Wasps but only Noct shows an extreme allergic reaction in the form of temporary amnesia and hives, he spends the next twenty four hours thinking he’s still 10 years old in Insomnia
  • recoil means sometimes Prompto jabs someone in the nads with machinery
  •  a miscalculation means sometimes Noctis runs out of stamina while hanging and falls from great height on top of an unsuspecting chocobro
  • facing a malboro ends up with the whole group trapped in the tent while the only person with a ribbon (Ignis) keeps them contained while distributing healing items, barely keeping them from killing themselves and others in a confused, poisoned, blind daze.
  • Prompto and Ignis collapse on the Rock of Ravatough in a fit of heatstroke
  • Gladio and Noctis stop halfway through the glacial caverns because the hypothermia hits them harder than the other two
  • Ignis groans in disgust whenever they have to fight a flan, creme brulee, or custard in the wild. the pain is artistic and emotional.
  • Before they acquired a Ring of Resistance, being mildly electrocuted and incinerated and frozen to bits while their novice mage (Noctis) figures things out was a common occurrence.
  • Gladio often fell and hurt his tailbone trying to climb a rock formation to get an Elixer, no heavy lifting for a while buddy!
  • Prompto always suffers the worst after fighting Necromancer, he panics when the petrification sets and tries really hard to physically break through it; he has to lay down and let his sore twitchy muscles rest for a few days afterwards. he can’t help that he’s claustrophobic and being trapped in his own body is the MOST EXTREME FORM OF IT
  • Ignis has a very delicate gag reflex, if something got in his mouth during a battle he will gag for HOURS
  •  Noct is forced to wear the leg brace after just an hour of walking on uneven dirt, he hates it but it alleviates the pain and pressure

anonymous asked:

How would Shawn propose

  • He’d be so nervous
  • Of course he would call your dad to ask for permission first
  • And he’d also make sure to talk to your mom and older brother too
  • They all gave their blessing
  • He would ask Aaliyah for help and advice
  • So she would definitely help him brainstorm
  • He’d also have Josiah there to take pictures and videos of everything
  • And he’d consult Geoff on the best way to go about everything
  • He’d take Aaliyah and your sister with him to help pick out the ring
  • To make sure they feel included in it all
  • The one thing he wouldn’t let anyone help with would be his speech
  • Because he wanted that to be completely from him
  • He worked on it for weeks because he wanted it to be perfect
  • He had spoken in front of so many people before
  • But he had never been as nervous as he was for the proposal speech
  • He invites all your closest friends and family
  • But makes sure they all stay hidden
  • They all watch from afar until after you say yes
  • There are tears of happiness and surprise streaming down your face
  • He puts the ring on your finger, kisses you, and then shouts
  • “She said yes!”
  • And your friends and family all come out and run towards you
  • Offering congratulations
  • You had no idea they were there
  • And you hadn’t even noticed Josiah taking pictures
  • The ring is absolutely gorgeous
  • You feel like the luckiest girl in the world
  • Because he’s the boy of your dreams
  • And you can’t wait to spend the rest of your life loving Shawn

“One of the things that baffles me (and there are quite a few) is how there can be so much lingering stigma with regards to mental illness, specifically bipolar disorder. In my opinion, living with manic depression takes a tremendous amount of balls. Not unlike a tour of Afghanistan (though the bombs and bullets, in this case, come from the inside). At times, being bipolar can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of.

They should issue medals along with the steady stream of medication.”
