“Stop shaking your leg.” Bucky whispered in your ear. You immediately stopped and shot him a nervous smile.
“Sorry.” You said, looking at the inflight magazine on your lap.
“It’s okay. Don’t be nervous.” Bucky ran his thumb over your knee.
“It’s just been a long time since I’ve seen them. I’m not nervous…I guess I don’t really know how to feel.” You revealed with a sigh, taking a long sip of the drink sitting in front of you.
“Are you worried about how they’ll react to me?” Bucky asked, staring down at his metal hand.
“Oh no,” You said, putting your hand on his forearm, “my Uncle Noah is just a traditional kind of guy. He’s the sheriff of the town, has a beer at night while he watches sports, you know…a pretty old fashioned American guy. But he’s a great judge of character. My cousin Stiles….he’s just not exactly what Uncle Noah expected when he thought about having a son. But he loves him nonetheless. And I think he’ll love you too.” You smiled at Bucky.
“Tell me more about your cousin.”
“Well he’s a total nerd-”
“He must be since he’s related to you.” Bucky cut in, earning a slap on the arm.
“He loves all things Star Wars, he’s skinny and lanky and kind of awkward.” You started laughing, thinking about Stiles.
“He sounds like Peter Parker.” Bucky mumbled. You burst out into a fit of laughter.
“Oh my God he’s exactly like Peter Parker.” You realized why you felt so comfortable and natural around the teenaged Avenger.
“We are now making our descent into the Los Angeles International Airport. Please make sure that all tray tables and seat-backs are the upright position.” A flight attendant said over the intercom. You released a shaky breath and waited for the plane to land. You and Bucky made your way out of the gate, pulling your bags behind you and discussing the past missions. You were walking towards the gate where the cabs were when you saw them.
Stiles Stilinski and the boy he was joined at the hip with, Scott McCall, were standing in the midst of the town car and limo drivers, holding a cardboard sign with your name scrawled messily in permanent marker.
