Energy: Projective Planet: Sun Element: Fire Associated Metal: Gold Powers: Money, Protection, Courage, Energy, Luck, Divination
Roman soldiers wore tiger’s-eye engraved with symbols for protection during battle.
Tiger’s-eye is a fine stone for promoting wealth and money. A simple money spell involves empowering several tiger’s-eyes with your need for money. Use them to surround a green candle. Light the candle and visualize.
They are also carried for protection against all forms of danger. A tiger’s-eye cabochon set in gold is a fine protective ring or pendant.
Ruled by the Sun and possessing a golden flash of light, tiger’s-eye is worn to strengthen convictions and create courage and confidence.
This is a warm stone, and it promotes energy flow through the body when worn. It is also beneficial for the weak or sick.
Sit outside on a sunny day. Hold a tiger’s-eye in your hands and gaze at the flashes of light. Still your conscious mind and look into the future. Or, use the stone as a tool to delve into past lives.

Folded jaspilite banded iron formation (BIF) (Hamersely Group, Neoarchean to Paleoproterozoic, ~2.47-2.55 Ga; Hamersley Range, Western Australia) by James St. John Via Flickr: Folded jaspilite (“tiger iron”) from the Precambrian of Australia. (cut & polished surface; field of view ~11 cm from top to bottom)
Banded iron formations, or BIFs, are unusual, dense sedimentary rocks consisting of alternating layers of iron-rich oxides and iron-rich silicates. Most BIFs are Proterozoic in age (although some are Late Archean), and do not form today - they’re “extinct”! Many specific varieties of iron formation are known, and some are given special rock names. For example, jaspilite is an attractive reddish & silvery gray banded rock consisting of hematite, red chert (“jasper”), and specular hematite or magnetite.
Because of their age, most BIFs have been around long enough to have been subjected to one or more orogenic (mountain-building) events. As such, most BIFs are folded and/or metamorphosed to varying degrees.
BIFs are known from around the world, but some of the most famous & extensive BIF deposits are found in the vicinity of North America’s Lake Superior Basin. Many BIFs have economic concentrations of iron and are mined. BIFs are the most important variety of iron ore on Earth.
The attractive BIF shown above is from Western Australia’s Hamersley Range, an area famous for its “tiger iron” BIFs. Several stratigraphic units in the Hamersley Group contain banded iron formation (e.g., the Marra Mamba Fe-Fm. & the Brockman Fe-Fm.). The sample here is folded jaspilite with bands of yellowish-brown “tiger-eye” (= asbestiform quartz having chatoyancy). The Hamersley Group is an upper Neoarchean to lower Paleoproterozoic unit (~2.47 to 2.55 billion years) that outcrops in parts of the Hamersley Range (Pilbara Craton) of Western Australia.

‘We ignore the decline of other species at our peril - for they are the barometer that reveals our impact on the world that sustains us.’
The assessment predicts that by 2020, populations of vertebrate species could have fallen by 67 percent from 1970 levels unless action is taken to reverse the damaging impacts of human activity.
One of the actions pushing the decline is the growing number of humans, which is driving overfishing, hunting and the destruction of habitats. The report detailed the strain that agriculture places on freshwater systems.
'Human behavior continues to drive the decline of wildlife populations globally, with particular impact on freshwater habitats,’ said Ken Norris, director of science at ZSL. 'Importantly, however, these are declines - they are not yet extinctions - and this should be a wake-up call to marshal efforts to promote the recovery of these populations.’
Assessment of 14,152 populations of 3,706 species of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles from around the world reveals a 58% fall between 1970 and 2012 - with no sign the average 2% drop in numbers each year will slow.
For the first time since the demise of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, we face a global mass extinction of wildlife
By 2020, populations of vertebrate species could have fallen by 67% over a 50-year period unless action is taken to reverse the damaging impacts of human activity, the Living Planet report from WWF and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) said.
African elephants in Tanzania have seen numbers crash due to poaching, maned wolves in Brazil are threatened by grasslands being turned into farmland and European eels have declined due to disease, over-fishing and changes to their river habitats.
Species are being increasingly affected by unsustainable agriculture and fishing, as well as mining and other human activities that cause habitats to be lost or become degraded.
Wildlife is also being hit by over-exploitation, climate change and pollution, the report warned. It is not just wildlife that is being affected, with humans also the 'victims’ of the deteriorating state of nature, as they depend on breathable air, drinkable water and nutritious food, it said.
FROM ELEPHANTS TO EELS: THE SPECIES HIT African elephants in Tanzania have seen numbers crash due to poaching, maned wolves in Brazil are threatened by grasslands being turned into farmland and European eels have declined due to disease, over-fishing and changes to their river habitats.
Overall terrestrial species, which are found in habitats ranging from grasslands to forests, have seen populations drop by two-fifths (38%) since 1970. While wildlife continues to decline on average, species that depend on certain habitats have seen some improvements in recent years, the report revealed. Grassland species have increased slightly since 2004, which the report puts down to conservation efforts for some mammals in Africa, though bird populations continued to decline.
Overall terrestrial species, which are found in habitats ranging from grasslands to forests, have seen populations drop by two-fifths (38%) since 1970.
Freshwater species are faring even worse, with declines of four-fifths (81%) between 1970 and 2012.
Wetland wildlife has seen an increase since 2005, a nd marine species have been stable since 1988 - although the majority of stocks that contribute most to global fish catches are now either fully fished or overfished, the report warned.
Mike Barrett, director of science and policy at WWF-UK, said: ’ For the first time since the demise of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, we face a global mass extinction of wildlife.
'We ignore the decline of other species at our peril - for they are the barometer that reveals our impact on the world that sustains us.
'Humanity’s misuse of natural resources is threatening habitats, pushing irreplaceable species to the brink and threatening the stability of our climate.’
But he added: ’ We know how to stop this. It requires governments, businesses and citizens to rethink how we produce, consume, measure success and value the natural environment.
'In the UK, this demands a serious plan to strengthen protection for habitats and species and new measures to fast-track low-carbon growth.’
Professor Ken Norris, director of science at ZSL said: 'Human behaviour continues to drive the decline of wildlife populations globally, with particular impact on freshwater habitats.
'Importantly, however, these are declines - they are not yet extinctions - and this should be a wake-up call to marshal efforts to promote the recovery of these populations.’
The report highlights the success of habitat protection and strict controls on hunting in Europe to help restore populations of wildlife including bears, lynx, wolverines and wolves.

Hey cuties!! First off thank you all so much for all of the love and support you all give me on here, i am forever grateful for it all. Also a special thanks to @thejourneyisthegift for being my 20,000th follower! As a big thank you i thought i would do another giveaway for my followers! So here it goes:
What the winner will get:
Gemstones hand wrapped by me!
Labradorite necklace , Clear quartz necklace, Rose quartz necklace
Ring (unsure of the size or where it’s from, it was a gift and does not fit me)
Amethyst (x5), Moonstone, Selenite, Sunstone, Clear quartz, Aventurine, Lapis Lazuli, Carnelian, Rose Quartz, Red tiger eye, Brown tiger eye, Unakite
Give Love candle (fresh lilies and citrus)
Colored branch pencils
Moon and stars incense burner
Nag Champa (15g) incense
Bundle of sage
peace sign, “save the bees”, “begin within”, “make love not war”, “recycle”
Good choices for this ring are citrine or tiger eye. Both stones are related to the Fire element and can be used to draw success and prosperity. This is also a good choice for an everyday ring since success is often something we cultivate in our lives each day and drawing this positive quality is a good reminder of our goals and potential.
Tiger eye is grounding and wealth-oriented. and it is also used for protection and strength. The beautiful golden-brown of tiger eye is a perfect symbol for the rich Earth, even though it’s associated with the Fire element. The shimmering bands glow and shine in the light like an eternal fire- think of this as representing your inner glow and strength.
Citrine is better suited for purposes of general success and optimism, clarity, or specifically for business or education. In cut gemstone form, citrine is usually yellow and dazzling like a bit of sunshine- cheerful and optimistic a symbol of success.
Generally, your projective is the one you write with- used to project energy outwards. Your receptive hand draws things to you. In this case, either hand can be used. For example, you want to project an attitude of success and optimism, but you also want to draw those qualities to you. If you can’t decide, try each and see if you prefer one over the other. This is not a hard and fast rule.
Cleanse your ring gently with water and allow it to sit in sunshine to dry. When you’re ready to proceed, hold the ring and meditate on your purpose- success, wealth, or a combination of both. Light a white or yellow candle on your altar and place the ring beside it. Visualize the flame of the candle infusing the ring with energy.
Whit this ring, pledge success,
Show the skills that I possess.
Let me shine, let me glow,
With this ring, wealth I know.
Let the candle burn out. Recharge the ring by repeating the spell whenever you feel it’s necessary.
Wear a tiger eye ring on your receptive hand to attract wealth and a citrine ring on your projective hand to project an attitude of success.
