brown eye blue eye experiment

What is the blue eyes/brown eyes experiment?

a thing some asshole teacher named janesomething *looks* ah right jane elliot, does in american schools, basically she divides people into blue eyes and brown eyes - blue eyes are obv the minority and most times it’s all white ppl while brown eyes are both white and other ethnicities - and then she treats like shit the blue eyes people/favors the brown eyes and like insults them, is downright an asshole and then goes like ‘well suck it up that’s how **people of color** feel everyday’ with the idea that it makes **white people** understand how it feels to be a victim of racism. I saw a video about it in the US and it make me puke in my mouth, esp because it was horrid to uni students but then I read she did that with children as well and tbh if I had kids and I found out someone at school put them through that kinda shit on either side I’d flip.

obviously, guess what, the moment she tried to do that in europe it didn’t work out because SINCE US EUROPEANS EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT KINDS OF DISCRIMINATION AND BEING WHITE DOES NOT PREVENT ANYONE FROM BEING A *RACISM* VICTIM some of the brown eyes group either helped out the blue eyes even if they were instructed to be assholes or told her she was full of shit and/or some blue eyes went like lol I’m polish are you srs. but basically she’s an asshole with a following which is sadly srs and like I’d never put her in the same space as someone with dunno anxiety issues or something because that experiment would make them lose it. (obv the uni students did not know what they were going into) like I’m 99% sure she’s just using that excuse to be an asshole and have no one chastising her for it tbh

Brown Eye-Blue Eye Experiment

Jane Elliott, internationally known teacher, lecturer, diversity trainer, and recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education, exposes prejudice and bigotry for what it is, an irrational class system based upon purely arbitrary factors. And if you think this does not apply to you… you are in for a rude awakening.

In response to the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. over thirty years ago, Jane Elliott devised the controversial and startling, “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes” exercise. This, now famous, exercise labels participants as inferior or superior based solely upon the color of their eyes and exposes them to the experience of being a minority. Everyone who is exposed to Jane Elliott’s work, be it through a lecture, workshop, or video, is dramatically affected by it.
