The Breeders // 1989-1990
" While the band's first record [Pod, 1990] wasn't initially a commercial success, the band had developed a following among indie rock fans and praises from people such as Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who cited Pod as one of his all-time favorite albums, the band prepared to record their next album. may I ask about any/all of 'in the garden' for 8, and 10 (specifically how the graeme/lockett pairing come to be as you were writing it)?
mwahahahaha yes... YES! i will always talk about these stories and specifically about g&l.
8. did any real people or events inspire any part of it?
as is perhaps obvious, graeme is some unholy melange of graham coxon, britt walford, and mike mills. britt walford of slint went to edinburgh to record pod with the breeders when he was 19 years old (that's him in drag in this video) -- that is sort of the key reference in my mind for graeme's trajectory and story. lockett is named after the guitarist lockett pundt from deerhunter and is similarly a good friend but a bit of a pushover who will put up with a lot in exchange for being seen (though he is less beautiful than his namesake).
of all the characters in all my stories, graeme and lockett are the most like me. especially lockett.
10. why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
the craziest thing is that this was 20000% not supposed to happen. before i wrote minuet, i had actually thought about getting graeme and sal together. (somebody write a fic please???) when i realized what i was doing while writing graeme and lockett's long conversation at the end of minuet i made this post, on april 15, 2018. now it has been over three years of me very carefully probing all my deepest insecurities and writing the longest and plottiest things i've ever written and writing weird out-there AUs and learning insane amounts about nineties music in order to figure out how to give them a happy ending. and i am about 70% of the way there!

Creative Living With A New And Improved Me:
The Struggle: 「This song and this band in general are so fucking good but virtually nobody knows about about them, which is really odd since the band members went on to form Slint, which is a huge band, and though not the same vibe the songs are really good nevertheless. Anyways the instrumental is so intense, especially the drums? god the drums are incredible, I am obsessed, Britt Walford is just a terrific drummer. Also the whole album is just incredible, especially if you're into the hardcore/post-hardcore.
i can only find the whole album on youtube but it's the opener」
good night and whatever, hear me out
