Summary:

“I could never have finished this bloody thing without your help.” Harry sighed, brow furrowed, clutching his copy of the yearbook to his chest. “Thank you, Lou. You’re an awesome friend.”

“I can’t believe you’re going on holiday.” Louis said, leaning against the wall of the main school building, looking out over the playground towards the art and science building. “We’re not even getting our last summer together. The five of us, I mean.”

“You’ll have a great time with the boys.” Harry said, slapping Louis on the back before loosely draping an arm around his shoulders. “You don’t want me around, anyway.”

Louis looked at Harry, frowning.

“I want you around the most.”

A High School AU where Louis is the captain of the football team, Harry’s the art geek in charge of the yearbook, and they are NOT a couple, even if Zayn tells everyone they are.

“My wife loves LL Cool J. She saw him at baggage claim at LaGuardia, waiting for his bag like he’s a normal person, which he obviously isn’t - he’s LL Cool J. So my wife, for reasons best understood by her, decides to go over and speak to him. But instead of saying hello, she starts rapping the verses from ‘”Doin’ It.”

Alfred beamed as he stepped in front of Arthur, blue eyes bright and shining. He greeted the elder enthusiastically, flinging his arms around the man’s shoulders and easily plucking him off the floor. He spun the sputtering Brit around once before setting him down, then proceeding to present him with a red rose.

“It’s so good to see you!” Alfred exclaimed happily, holding the delicate flower out to his fiancee.

Arthur’s cheeks bloomed in the color of the rose he now held in his hand and he lowered his gaze, embarrassed. “Thank you, your highness. As usual, I’m delighted to see you too, despite the fact that I visit three times a week.” The Brit replied, working to keep the sarcasm out of his tone while his parents were still present.

Friends

Part 1

‘My place after the show? Don’t feel like going to the after parties.’ The message read on her phone screen as she sat in her seat during commercial break. It was from Adam, she scanned the room in search of him, smiling when she found him. He waved and she chuckling before answering to his text.

'Sure! Meet you there?’ She responded then locked her phone, looking at him while he nodded at her with a smile. The show came back on and their attention stopped being on each other and on the show happening.

It had been about a year since they broke up but they were friends, very good friends. It was more than Taylor could ever imagine they would be after the break up but they had talked to each other so often after the day they broke it off, they remained friends. Turns out neither of them could cut off all contact with each other. They had become so intertwined with each other’s lives, it was impossible to cut all ties they had. So they remained friends and Taylor didn’t really think about the break up anymore, it was more like a glitch and she thought that maybe they were never meant to be lovers. And she valued their friendship more than anything. After all, Adam knew her well. He knew things about her that no one else did and she knew things about him that no one else did. They knew how to deal with each other even if in the last few months of their relationship, they didn’t know how.

'Where are you?’ Adam sent her the text just as she was arriving at his house.

'Right outside. Open the gate.’ She responded and he did. Her driver drove her up to the front door and she stepped out, telling him she would call when she was ready to leave which wouldn’t be for a while.

“Hey.” He smiled, opening the door, giving her a quick hug before stepping aside so she could come in.

“Hey.” She ditched her heels, putting them next to the door. “Ugh god, I’ve been waiting for that the whole night. Remind me again why the hell I wear heels?”

“They say it makes your legs look good.” He chuckled, walking to the living room, following her. She plopped on the couch and he sat next to her. “I’m surprised you didn’t go to the after parties.” He noted and she shrugged.

“Didn’t feel like drinking and talking to hundreds of people.” He nodded his head at her answer and they sat in contented silence. “I’m kinda starting to hate award shows.”

“Why? Didn’t you like them?”

“I mean yeah but two hours of bullshit is starting to get a little tiring. It’s like everybody’s waiting to see someone fall and then they kiss your ass like they love you more than anything.” She huffed, rolling her eyes.

“I feel you but hey at least you’re winning all the awards.” He smiled at her. “Anyway, how about you pick a movie and I’ll go make popcorn?” She nodded her head and he ran off to the kitchen. She smiled. She was glad to have him in her life. She didn’t know what she would have done if they had a bad break up. For one she wouldn’t be standing at his house a year later and they wouldn’t have been talking. “Um…Tay can you come here?” She heard his voice after a loud crash and walked to the kitchen. She let out a soft laugh when she saw their popcorn on the floor and Roy on top of the counter.

“What the hell happened?”

“I stepped on Roy and everything fell.” He laughed, picking up Roy and setting him on the floor. The cat ran to Taylor and she picked him up in her arms, kissing its head. “Are we good with ice cream?”

“Yeah, we’re good.” She smiled.

“Alright, I’ll be right there, I’m just gonna clean this up.” She nodded and walked back to the living room with Roy in her arms and sat down again, with the cat snuggling in her lap. He came back, handing her a bowl of ice cream. The movie started and they both got into it. Adam glanced at Roy comfortably laying in Taylor’s lap and smiled softly. She was the one who got him the cat and he couldn’t really imagine his life without the little ball of fur although the cat probably liked Taylor more than it liked him.

“Do you want to go outside? The weather’s nice.” Adam suggested, looking out the window. Taylor jumped up and they walked together to the two chairs overlooking the city of Los Angeles. They sat in a comfortable silence, enjoying the quiet night. “Why are we single?”

“What?” Taylor let out a chuckle, glancing at Adam with her eyebrows furrowed.

“I mean, we’re both awesome and we both have no one.”

“Adam, I know the answer for me. It’s because I don’t want anyone. I’m fine with being single.” She rolled her eyes.

“But don’t you think it would be cool to date again? I haven’t dated anyone since us and you haven’t either.” He pointed out.

“I don’t know…” She trailed off. “Why are we having this conversation?” She giggled.

“Because I could be like your wingman.” She looked at him like he was crazy.

“I have never heard something more stupid.” She shook her head, laughing softly. “And besides I don’t need a wingman to get a guy. I can perfectly do it on my own.”

“Trust me I know. Been there, done that.” She punched his arm playfully, rolling her eyes at him. “Anyway what I’m saying is we could try to date new people.” He smiled like his idea was the best. “The Brits are next week and we’re both going…” He was cut off by her voice.

“May I remind you that the last time I got together with someone at the Brits, we broke up.” A smirk made its way to her face.

“Yeah but you did make some amazing memories and he’s still in your life.” He winked, grinning. “You know, after we broke up I really missed you.” He confessed and she smiled.

“Me too. I’m glad we can be friends.”

“So Brits next week?”

“You will not be my wingman!” She pointed her finger at him.

“Alright. But can we agree to start dating again?”

“Why is this such a big deal?” She stared at him.

“I don’t know!” He laughed. “At the Brits?”

“Fine, whatever.”
