I’ve not been posting many photos of my crafts or art lately. And the reason for that is because I have been SUPER BLOODY BUSY! Being exactly the kind of masochistic person who thinks “huge family event” and immediately then thinks “I could make all the things!” I’ve found myself in the position of trying to make both the bridesmaid skirts and my own wedding dress!
I haven’t started my dress yet, but I have almost finished the test of the pattern I drafted - the cowl next dress above. It needs the armholes taking in and needs hemming all over, but I’m happy with the pattern now and ready to get the materials to make the way fancier, lacier, longer and more extravagant version I’ll be wearing for the wedding.
I’m really pleased with how it fit. I have an *odd* shape, so while my dress form technically can expand to my measurements I ended up having to size it down to get the shoulder, underbust and waist measurements right and then padding it RIGHT THE HELL OUT at the bust and hips and stomach. So I was nervous that I might not get the fit and proportions quite right using it, especially after the gut padding shifted alarmingly. But the fit of this is pretty much exactly how I wanted it.
I’ve been making more effort to get a little more dressed up on Sunday’s since our time together doesn’t include typical date nights on the weekends. Let me tell you, it feels good to be in something other than workout pants and the same work clothes I’m constantly wearing.
I’ve also been obsessed with the skirts this length and have bought a few lately. The length is different from what I’m normally comfortable with but the more I wear them I like them. I’m also thinking a lot towards having my bridesmaids wear skirts so I’ve been wanting to wear differently styles and lengths myself to see what I like best.
Gonna be a good day and then tonight it’s the Walking Dead. Sunday’s are wonderful.
