Growing up, I wasn’t a big camping fanatic.

Then, I moved to Canada and discovered that camping could be done in places like Birkenhead lake.

I now officially dig camping… ;o)

Here is a photo I shot a few months ago with my friend Jessica.

Jess is an incredible make-up artist in Vancouver who also masters the art of modeling and doing incredible fitness competitions. That’s when she’s not traveling, writing, or making art and calligraphy.

She is one of the busiest business woman I know. If you need a solid make-up artist in BC, give her a shout, you’ll thank me later.

Skiing season started early this year in Vancouver, so today I grabbed my gear and headed to Cypress to try something a little bit different.

I may or may not have spent a couple of hours testing my GoPro Hero 3+

More about this soon…

Yesterday I was on a boat…

Everybody seems to be freaking out in BC because summer appears to be over. As you can see by the clouds and the sky here.

I strongly disagree and think we’ll be able to play Frisbee shirtless for the next 3 weeks.  But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s September 22nd and it’s now Fall.

Happy Fall everyone!!!

This is where I spent most of my time last week.

The big green building is Martyshuk Housing “Loft” where they house some of their clients (who used to be homeless) and above it is the view from the south facing units. Pretty cool view isn’t it?

Today, I give you another portrait of Sam.

If you missed it yesterday, you can see her on my latest EKTA photo as well.

As always, if you want to shoot with me, you know what to do…

Saturday, I’ve had the great pleasure to meet actress Keegan Connor Tracy.

She was in need of new headshots and stopped by my studio for an hour.

I knew her from TV shows such as “Supernatural”,“The 4400”, “Eureka” or “Battlestar Galactica”, and she now plays in a show called “Once upon a time”.

More photos from her shoot in the days to come, but in the mean time be sure to tune in every Sunday nights (season premiere on Sept 30th) at 8pm on ABC and check her out.

And if you need new headshots, you now know who to contact, right…?

Yesterday the lovely Adriana stopped by the studio.

Adriana and I first met about a year ago when I was filming this video.

Not only is she a model, but she is mainly a graphic designer. You can check her out here

More photos from our shoot very soon.

This morning, Jessica stopped by the studio to shoot for the EKTA series.

But as you know, I never miss an occasion to ask my models to put some clothes on and to stick around for a few portraits.

So after a great EKTA session (you’ll see some photos very soon) we shot those photos.

If you’re around Vancouver and want to shoot with me, as always, contact the studio and we’ll make it happen.

A few days ago, my friend Jess stopped by the studio.

On top of being a super cool model, Jess is an extremely talented make-up artist and a fierce business woman. You should definitely check her out and keep her in mind next time you are in need of a MUA in or around Vancouver.

I first photographed Jess 2 years ago for the Authenticity Portraits, and this time she came back for something a little bit different. I will tell you more as soon as possible. ;o)

In the meantime here is a sneak peek of our shoot for you.

As always, if you want to shoot with me, you know what to do…

A very dear friend of mine just sent me a message about this photo and it made me realize that maybe I should share it with you as well.

I shot this photo during Aboriginal Day in Edmonton on June 21st 2012. I was working for the great people of Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society and was covering an event put together by the fantastic Lisa Baroldi of Progress Unlimited.

I know I have said this before, but I will say it again because it’s worth remembering:

I am extremely grateful to be able to do what I do for a living, which consists of witnessing and taking photos of amazing people, events and discovering new cultures, communities and traditions every time I am on a new shoot.

Not everybody has the chance of enjoying his/hers work the way I do mine and it’s pretty easy to forget how lucky I am. Specially when working like crazy on 5 different projects at once.

But I’ll let you in on a secret: It’s not really work when it’s the only thing you wanna do when you wake up in the morning. (After having coffee of course.)

What do you do when you’re on a shoot, minding your own business, and a 175 pound dog (which is about my own weight by the way…) starts running your way, barking like there’s no tomorrow and making a fuss like you’re on his turf and it’s not ok…?

Option 1:

Run! Run like the wind. But with your camera, your pelican case and the fact that this dog can probably out run you anytime of day, it might not be the best idea.

Option 2:

Close the pelican case (which I did as a reflex because I hate having drool on my lenses…) and brace yourself for impact.

Option 3:

Keep minding your own business and assume that if you don’t look scared, the dog is probably gonna end up thinking that you’re more badass than him and that he’s gonna eat some pelican case if he gets in your face. And no matter what, don’t stop shooting.

I went for option 3, and it worked quite well, the puppy ended up stopping a few meters away from me and was quite curious about my 14mm lens.

I later learned from the owner of the dog that it could have gone either way, since apparently that thing is sorta crazy and is used to flipping out on you just because it doesn’t like the color of your pants….. (Thank God for my fashion sense!)

Good times…
