brewed tea

I spent the day quite literally in the kitchen. The lineup of things:

Dehydrating….bananas and blueberries (yummy!)
Cooking…..Stuffed shells, chicken stir fry, spaghetti squash, acorn squash, mashed potatoes.
Brewed roobius and cinnamon tea, decaf iced coffee
Grilled….turkey kielbasa and marinated steak

And I’m done. Exhausted from being in the kitchen so long but I know multiple people will enjoy my kitchen time when they get their goodies (beef jerky was dehydrated yesterday for the parents per their request, the dehydrated bananas are a yummy surprise). Plus bonus points for essentially lining up the next week and a half of healthy work lunches in one day.

Now relaxing and getting mentally ready for finals week at work. This semester really flew by and I hope that summer does the same.

Things have been crazy lately so I just wanted to take a moment and remind you to love yourself because you are important!  No matter who you are or where you come from! Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise!

I decided to make a step by step “How-to Jenny’s Witchy Brew” for Self Love ~ Rose Soy Milk Tea <3

Things you will need:

-Rose Tea: I get mine at 99 Ranch Market but it’s essentially just dried rose hips so if you have rose hips that you can dry out, that will work too! You will want to use 6-8 rose buds, the more you add the stronger the flavor!

-Organic Soy Milk: This can be regular milk or almond milk, I prefer unsweetened organic soy milk. If you decide to use soy make sure it’s organic! Brands such as ‘Silk’ isn’t good, even if they claim it’s organic, for some reason it burns and wont cook right. It’s gotta be the real deal! For this recipe you only need 1 cup.

-Honey: Any kind of organic honey will do, if you have herbal honey that’s even better for adding more florals to your tea! I usually add about 2-3 teaspoons, but feel free to add to taste!

-Cinnamon & Nutmeg: This is optional! I like to add just a pinch of both spices to add a little kick to my tea. If you don’t care for spice try ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract instead!

-Sugar: This is also optional, I like my tea to be a little on the sweet side & since we are using organic unsweetened soy milk it helps to really sweeten it up! I only use barely a ½ teaspoon,  but just add to taste!

-Small Pot

-Mesh Strainer: For removing the flowers once it’s cooked.

-Your Favorite Mug! Mine is a black mug with my astrological sign gold leafed into it!

Before starting, take a moment to close your eyes, clear your mind, breathe deeply through your nose and slowly release through your mouth (do this a few times). Visualize letting go of any negativity or weight you may be carrying on your shoulders…now…

<3 LET’S GET BREWING! <3

1- Pour soy milk into pot, turn heat on low

2- Add rose tea, gently crumble a couple of the buds

3- Add cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar

4- Add desired amount of honey; while you slowly drizzle it in feel free to draw symbols with it such as hearts or infinity symbols- whatever you feel is right for helping to instill your manifestations of self love into your tea!

5- Stir your brew clockwise! While slowly stirring visualize the self love that this tea will bring you & say some positive affirmations about yourself such as:

“I love the person I am, I am strong & caring, I am creative, I am beautiful inside and out…” say whatever best suits your needs for self love and take a moment to appreciate the wonderful person you are! <3

6- Let your tea brew for approximately 10 minutes on low stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. DON’T LET IT BOIL! You want to create an infusion of the flowers which means a longer slower heating process. Boiling will mean scorching the flowers and milk!

7- You’ll notice the rose buds will begin to loose their color, remove your brew from the heat to let it cool and allow the tea to steep for about 3 minutes.

8- Remove roses with mesh strainer and compost.

Enjoy!
As you drink, visualize your tea as a pink white healing light of love and remember your affirmations taking deep breaths in-between each sip! <3

I hope you all enjoyed this & that your tea was delicious & full of positive energy! Feel free to try making this with other flowers which have different properties such as: lavender & chamomile for happiness and relaxation!

Much Love <3

Teas for Witches: the Basics

I can talk about tea literally all day (and I have because I’ve worked in a spice and tea shop for years), and there is SO much to talk about with both health and magical benefits. Teas are made from tea leaves called camellia sinensis, with the exception of herbal teas/infusions. For this, I’m going to list magical and health benefits by type of tea.

Black Tea

Feminine * Earth * Winter * Strength * Stability * Death * Expelling Negativity * Alertness * Energy

Black tea is the most fermented and oxidized of all teas. Its tea leaves look shriveled and black. It combats heart ailments, digestive problems, high cholesterol, asthma, and breast/menstrual problems. Black tea also has a lot of caffeine (47 mg, still less than coffee) and too much of it can cause acidity issues in the stomach.

Examples: English/Irish Breakfast Tea, Assam, Darjeeling, Lapsung Souchang, Ceylon, Earl Grey

**There is a subset of black tea called Pu-erh, a post-fermented black tea. Some consider this to be the “purest” of all teas and connect it to the aether, as it is rare and valuable.

Green Tea

Masculine * Fire * Summer * Passion * Healing * Conscious Mind * Sexual Health * Love * Energy * Progress * Magic

Green tea is slightly steamed but not fermented, which maintains its green color. It has many health benefits, such as detoxifying, reducing cholesterol and weight, boosting immunity and stamina, and reducing blood glucose. It has less caffeine than black, but still some.

Examples: Jasmine, Sencha, Matcha, Gyokurocha, Genmaicha, Hojicha, Gunpowder, Dragonwell

Oolong Tea

Feminine * Water * Autumn * Reflection * Meditation * Wisdom * Serenity * Concentration * Romance * Friendship

I always describe Oolong as being between Green and Blacks, since it is half fermented. It can help manage weight and stress, balance blog sugar levels, remove free radicals, and promote healthy skin and bones. HOWEVER, too much can actually speed up bone degradation because it sweeps away excess calcium. And beware of its high caffeine content (I used to drink Raspberry Wulong to pull all-nighters).

Examples: Milk Oolong, Formosa, Wulongs

White Tea

Masculine * Air * Spring * Happiness * Wisdom * Moon * Purification * Protection * Clarity * Cleansing * Beginnings

White tea is a little harder to find. Either the tea leaves are plucked as immature leaves and steamed, or the leaves have not been processed (there seems to be little consensus across cultures). Some have a small amount of caffeine. It’s a great antibacterial and antioxidant, and it improves the heart, oral health, and skin. Drinking a couple cups works better than one, and you can reuse the tea leaves, granted that the second cup will brew longer.

Examples: White teas come in many flavors and are usually labeled as white tea. You may need to seek out a tea shop to find some.

Herbal Tea

Magical properties depend on which herbs are used

This tea seems to be the most popular for witches on tumblr, because it is composed of dry, unprocessed herbs, seeds, fruits, or roots, and has no caffeine (as long as the herb doesn’t!). There are many recipes online as herbals are easy to make. In general, herbal tea promotes calm, reduces cholesterol and risk of heart conditions, cancers, and diabetes. Due to its lack of actual tea leaves it has less antioxidants than other teas. Some don’t even call it a tea, but dub it Herbal Infusion.

Examples: Rooibos, most Chais, Ginseng, Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, Hibiscus

**Yerba Mate is an herbal tea that is notorious for its high caffeine levels (you’ve probably seen the energy drink). It also zaps one’s appetite and can become addictive, so be careful around this tea!

As always, feel free to add/message me of any corrections, and I hope you find your cup of tea!

An Introduction to Sun Tea Magic

Growing up in the south I have the fondest memories of sun tea made on hot days, using nothing but the sun’s warm rays to help the infusing process. I love sun tea because because it’s almost impossible to mess up, there isn’t any boiling water to worry about and almost no way to burn the leaves.

However, as a witch I have a new found appreciation. A simple drink can become a way to fill yourself with different magical properties. The sun itself is a catalyst for spells for vitality, clarity, health, happiness, and confidence. The best part is, ITS SO EASY.

FIRST: Pick the tea leaves for what you are trying to accomplish. Green tea is great for igniting passion, sexual health, and love. Black tea represents nature, strength, and is good for expelling and removing negative energies. Then we have herbal teas which are a whole other story with lots of different flavors and herbs with expansive options and magickal properties.

SECOND: Pick a few crystals to put on the lid or around the pitcher. Here I have crystal quartz and carnelian. I chose quartz for its ability to cleanse and enhance the crystals around it, and carnelian to help with anxiety and depression.

THIRD: Place outside or in a window with a lot of light and let the sun work its magic. During this time focus on what you are trying to manifest. Put all your intentions into the witchy brew. Remove tea bags when it reaches your desired color (I use six regular bags per two liters, but it’s up to you how strong you like your tea). Pour over ice and enjoy.

Optional: you can add cut fruit to further the intention. Strawberries, lemons, mint, or blood orange.

Some amazing combinations are:

🌞 Hibiscus tea and rose quartz for love

🌞 Black tourmaline and black tea for spirit cleansing

🌞 White tea and grapefruit for purification and uniting with the goddess of your choice

Really, the sky is the limit here. Try everything, there are no wrong answers.

Let me know what you guys try! I hope you enjoy this :)

SUPER EDIT: It was brought to my attention that I forgot to include some serious food safety tips with this, so here they are.

I’ve been drinking this for 24~ years? With no issue because I do the following:

- use purified water, most bacteria comes from the water itself in addition to things like unsanitized pitchers and what not.
- do not leave the tea out for more than the intended brewing time (15-30 minutes).
- only make what you intend to drink that day.
- keep in the refrigerator no longer than 72 hours.
- use tea leaves that come from sealed packages and are not expired.
- if tea ever develops ropey looking strands, toss it and wash the container with hot water and soap (I also will rinse with vinegar).

A Spell To Help Someone Flower

Everyone has potential, but not all of us are comfortable reaching it. Sometimes situations stop us, sometimes it’s other people, and sometimes, it’s yourself. If you can’t see the potential that you hold, how can you let it shine through? This spell can be used on either you or someone else, to help them reach their potential, to “flower”. Wait and watch this spell blossom!

What you’ll need:

  • Rose water
  • Dried Jasmine Blossom (preferred, but not required! Pre-packaged tea works just fine!
  • Honey
  • Taglock
  • Dirt
  • Seeds (optional)

Take your rosewater and bring it to a boil. Put your jasmine in a cup and pour the rose water over it– If you have a blossom, you can watch “bloom” with the water as the tea brews. Take this time to put your intent into the mixture. Imagine your target becoming all that they can be, overcoming the odds and pushing through like a sprout in the spring. Visualize their abilities/desired trait growing, up and up and up, until finally a blossom peeks out at the top. Then, as you add in the honey and stir clockwise, feel the flower bloom. The honey is used to attract good things to your target, like bees to your new flower.

As a final step, solidify the association between the spell and your target by pouring some (if not all) over your taglock. Your taglock should then be buried (not necessarily outside if you don’t want– putting it in a container is fine! The dirt is the important part.) This is you ‘planting’ the spell. If you want to put seeds in and watch it literally grow, go for it! Sometimes a little real-world action helps solidify intent, especially in the long run. Just make sure to take good care of your plant!

If the spell is for yourself, feel free to drink any of the mixture that you’ve not poured over the taglock.

Spell for Confidence and Beauty

Items Needed:

  • Rose hips
  • Spearmint
  • Your favorite lotion

Step 1) Brew tea with rose hips and spearmint. As it steeps, swirl it 3 times and say the following:
As this power slowly steeps, so shall beauty steep in me.
I am smart, I have confidence, and I am beautiful.

Step 2) When the tea is finished brewing, kiss the surface of it (if it’s too hot, wait for it to cool). Imagine this connecting your energy to the energy of the spell.

Step 3) Sip the tea! Imagine the energy flowing into your body and coursing through you. Let the words echo throughout your mind. “I am smart, I have confidence, and I am beautiful.”

Step 4) When done with (or at the same time as) drinking the tea, rub your favorite lotion all over your body. Imagine it bringing your beauty and confidence to the surface so everyone can see it.

Fallout universe Health and Food-related headcanons

Because I’m a holistic health and homesteading nut… :’)

  • Sea salt is a major export of coastal states.
  • Another export of coastal states is whale blubber, which is extremely rare and difficult to obtain. It is a high-end source of carbs (see studies on Inuit diets if you want more about that) and would be a delicacy within upper-class settlements.
  • Salt is one of the only existing seasonings (and is used heavily in meat preservation, making cold cuts and little dried fish quite common!), any internationally sourced spices would have long since been used up, never to be replenished.
  • Because of this, Peppercorns are extremely rare, and a very high priced commodity prized more-so as conversation pieces than culinary tools.
  • Salt is also used in hair products. Mixed with warm water and vodka/rum it makes a great volumizer!
  • Tea brewed with hubflower has similar effects to caffeine.
  • Hubflower and mentats make one hell of an energy drink, like ginkgo tea on crack lol
  • We can assume that bees still exist post-war, because of the remaining flora in the Wastes. Honey is the major sweetener, although it is sold at a premium because beekeeping would be a very dangerous career. (Raiding parties would hit beekeeping farms hard)
  • If you see someone without a pocket-full of pemmican on them they’re probably dead tbh
  • Ketosis is common but not completely necessary. Farms and settlements often have razorgrain, maize/corn, tatos and various tubers, which are the major carbohydrate sources.
  • Razorgrain and corn flour/meal is a winter staple. Most people consist off of breads and snow-buried caches filled with thin meats in areas where the ground becomes inhospitable with the cold months.
  • Despite conflicting dialogue concerning the existence of fish, FISH DEFINITELY STILL EXIST
  • Pruno, moonshine, mead and beer are extremely common, as the means to craft them are widely available.
  • Common household nutrient supplements would include: cured liver, bone broth, and gelatin.
  • Daily oral care consists of alcohol-based mouthwash (straight vodka, preferably), and brushing with tallow soap.
  • Tallow-based soap is readily available and decent hygiene really isn’t a huge issue with anyone who isn’t a piss-poor drifter.
  • ok but can you imagine cornbread with farm sourced honey and mirelurk eggs because i’m hungry as hell rn
  • In controlled environments with plenty of rest and medical supervision, stimpaks can help a person make a miraculous recovery from injury, and erase scarring. However, if used in a high-tension situation coupled with little rest and lack of consistent nutrition, scarring and/or perminant damage will occur.
  • The real-world equivalents of (some of the) Fallout drugs are:
    Med-X: Morphine
    Psycho: PCP
    Mentats: Methylphenidate
    Jet: Methamphetamine
    Calmex: Ketamine
    Day Tripper: Oxycodone
  • People raised in Vaults or who have defected from environments like the Institute have high mortality rates. If their lack of hardcore survival knowledge doesn’t kill them first, the shock of radiation poisoning will.
  • Obesity is next to impossible and a luxury only EXTREMELY wealthy people can afford. As excess weight gain is a product of energy storage (specifically carbs and sugars), the high protein/fat and low carb/sugar diet of the typical Wastelander would leave them in a state of constant energy absorption, coupled with the fact that not everyone is lucky enough to get even one meal a day.

AND THERE WILL BE MORE, THERE’S ALWAYS MORE

I am not being paid to promote this app. All opinions are my own

Adrenaline makes your heart beat faster.

Your pupils dilate.

Your blood pressure rise.

Your palms sweat.

You feel like you could fly.

Or run.

(From everything.)

(Forever.)

It occurs to you that you wouldn’t know the difference between

the Thrill Of The Fight

and Love.

Bonding With Each Element

Earth

  • Taking a walk in a park or forest
  • Planting

  • Picking flowers (though, not from other people’s gardens, of course)

  • Grounding, meditating, etc.

  • -The key is to surround yourself with nature, whether it be sounds of nature, or even getting into kitchen magic, which will involve herbs.

Air

  • Taking a stroll on a breezy day
  • Sitting in front of a fan (as an alternative to the above)
  • Anything creative (Dancing, singing, etc)
  • Divination (Smoke of an incense, crystal ball, taro/cartomancy, etc)
  • -The wind element is about expressing and realizing your creativity and talent. By doing this, you are bonding with the element.

Fire

  • Meditation with a lit candle
  • Drinking a cup of freshly brewed hot tea or coffee (don’t burn your mouth, now)

  • Activity that involves breaking a sweat (exercise, etc)

  • -Fire is about passion and anger, whether releasing that anger so it does not build up inside of you, or invoking a passion you have for something. This intensity will help you bond with the element.

Water

  • Taking a long shower or bath
  • Making Sun or Moon Water

  • Collecting Rain/Snow/Storm/Sea Water

  • Dream Magick: making peaceful sleep satchets, etc

  • -Water is about purification, love, and psychic awareness. Cleansing yourself daily, charging water for a specific use, and healing will help you bond with this element.

I see Rose serenely sipping Earl Grey and raise you Rose brewing all those teas marketed with terms like ‘anti-anxiety’ and ‘high energy’ and ‘blues away’ together in one pot and announcing she’s either going to discredit them or ascend to a higher plane of existence.

How To: Bless an Object

Here are multiple methods of blessings objects, feel free to add your own, and I’ll credit you!

#1: Simply Meditate:

The method I favour is to infuse the object with my personal energy whilst meditating. You infuse it with love, with the intentions you have if it and so on. I hold the object in my hands of between my legs as I meditate and focus it there.

#2: Smoke:

Simply pass the objects through the smoke of an incense for a few minutes. Look into each properties of incenses to better use them. Practical for paper or parchment.

#3: Anointment:

Anoint the object with either a mix of essential oils (or one single one), a herbal brew (either a tea made for those purposes or a mixture made for that.). You can do so by making a specific symbol while doing it, like drawing a pentagram with the oil.

#4: Burial:

I’ve done it twice and it’s a powerful but lengthy process. Bury the object in a place that means a lot to you, I prefer doing it under a tree, and ask the earth to bless it. I left it six months, but do as you feel. You may draw a symbol on the earth where you buried it.

#5: The Moon:

On a full moon, ask the moon to bless the object and leave it on the window sill, under the moonlight.

#6: Music:

Use a singing bowl, or bells or instruments to really soak your object with the blessing. Or sing yourself, words of blessings or just humming. High notes heal and bring about a higher vibration.

#7: Crystals:

Make a grid of crystals around the object and the the crystals bless it. Most commonly used would be crystal quartz.

#8: A Spell
There is an infinity of blessing spells out there. Find the one that suits you best.

But most importantly, while doing any of these or you own techniques, remember to:
a)
State your intent. Your words are a vibration that will begin to bless the object before you even start anything.
b) Get yourself in a calm state of mind. I don’t see the point of having a big get up for a simple spell (big rituals, yes, but one spell, no.), so without necessarily casting a circle, lighting 20 candles and and surrounding yourself with salt, just meditate a bit, calm your mind. Because you will also be blessing it with your own energy, even if you ask for the help of a deity.
c) Use your own energy. That’s your most powerful tool. More than anything else. You are the most powerful tool in witchcraft.

Feel free to share your experiences with me by tagging me or adding to this post!

Another print ready!

S.P.A.C.E. is almost here and I’m spending all day tomorrow re-stocking my hand made sketchbooks and printing!

Can’t wait to see ya’ll there! Come up and talk to me about tea, and hockey, and check please and literally anything oh my god I don’t have someone to sit at my table with me so I’m going to be lonely D:

Possibili(tea)

Summary: Stiles might have a crush on his co-worker, who always brews him amazing tea.

Notes: Short and sweet! Inspired by this post. (On AO3)

Stiles puts all the little sample boxes into a paper bag, then staples on the string with a tag at the end. It holds the business information, and it makes the package look like a giant tea bag. Sort of. If you squint.

The girl smiles and pays him, then waves as she walks away.

“Tea you later!” Stiles calls cheerfully. Then he says, “Oof!” when Derek smacks him in the side.

“You deserved that,” Derek says mildly. “Didn’t we already have a discussion about using the word tea inappropriately?”
