10-Heart Pop-Art Eligibles

So here it is, all in one place. Thank you all, it’s been fun!

If you’d like, check out the previous 10-Heart Pop-Art posts or some of my other personal work.

i’ve been getting a lot of messages lately (and unsurprisingly, considering how unrepentantly i’ve been reblogging stuff from them) from followers asking me for podcast recommendations - and i love getting those so thank you, guys! - and i thought i’d make a masterpost of what i’ve both a) finished and b) enjoyed since i’ve started bingeing them.  and, as an extra added bonus, what has canonical lgbt+ representation (since i know what you guys are into [waggles eyebrows]).

1. the bright sessions

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is definitely the first podcast that i’ve fallen in love with as hard as my original gateway podcast: welcome to night vale.  it’s so well-written, the characters well-drawn, the premise fascinating - atypicals, or people with some sort of special ability, in therapy - and it’s such a positive story and experience that i can’t help but feel better on days i listen to it.  it really believes in humanity and that’s such a wonderful thing in this day and age.  plus, the voice acting is killer.

2. eos 10

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i don’t think it’s been officially confirmed that dr. dalias is, at the very least, bisexual (in fact, the official channels seem to be dancing around it, possibly so as not to spoil anything in the upcoming season), though it’s been hinted at plenty in story.  especially as i don’t know how else you can explain a supposedly “straight” male character getting called out on repeatedly thinking about a naked man during a group mind-link experience.  that aside, it is freaking hilarious.  the premise is doctors in space, one formerly drug-addicted doctor helping to stabilize a currently alcoholic one with amazing side characters including nurse jane johns and levi, a hypochondriac alien and deposed prince who seems to have a personal vendetta against wearing pants.  it’s well-acted, cleverly written and a freaking joy to listen too.  so funny and so smart, i can’t recommend it enough!

3. the penumbra podcast

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  so much queer representation it’s bananas.  this ask the creators got is actually pretty representative of their approach to the show, slyly funny and very gay.  our main character is a genderbending queer private investigator who’s lost his heart head over a sweet-smelling thief with a heart of gold and more aliases than jennifer garner, all set against a noir backdrop.  oh, and on mars.  yeah, you read all of that right.  there are a few awesome side stories as well, including a couple of horror ones (that have no effect on the main juno steel story line, so can be skipped - and the creators are VERY GOOD about warning what’s to come in the episode notes), as well as lesbian outlaws and a disabled knight.  there’s literally nothing not to love.  EXCEPT FOR HOW JUNO STEEL WON’T LET HIMSELF HAVE NICE THINGS.

4. the black tapes

hey, hi, if you’re into horror, suspense, creepery or demons, this is so very much for you.  the premise is that alex reagan, our host, begins a podcast to interview people with interesting professions.  she starts out with dr. richard strand, a paranormal investigator whose mission statement is to debunk all things paranormal.  he even has an institute that offers a one million dollar prize for proof of the paranormal, which he has never even come close to having to part with.  while alex is interviewing him, she comes across a handful of black vhs tapes: the only cases that strand hasn’t been able to definitively solve yet.  the technology to disprove these incidents simply hasn’t come far enough, in his opinion.  needless to say, she never moves on from dr. strand and the mystery of the black tapes.  each episode, alex investigates another of the black tapes and much later on realizes it’s possible that they’re all connected.  oh my god, i almost got chills just writing that, it’s so good, it’s so real, because dr. strand is such a good anchor to reality.  alex will occasionally lose her skeptic’s perspective; dr. strand does not.  and once alex starts experiencing intense insomnia, making you realize your narrator might not be so reliable?  things somehow manage to get even murkier.  i really, really adored this one.  it’s paranormal set in the most normal of normal worlds, only making it that much spookier.

5. wooden overcoats

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, if you’ve ever watched black books?  this is kind of like black books, aka one of my all-time favorite shows.  rudyard funn is just as incapable and universally disliked as bernard black, which was all well and good when the village of piffling vale (which is very nearly a town, you know!) only had one funeral home to choose from.  unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore.  eric chapman has moved his funeral home right across the street and stolen all the business from rudyard, his embalmer (cum part-owner) and twin sister, antigone, and georgie, their assistant.  to add insult to injury, he’s charming and universally adored by everyone except those at funn funerals.  very british, very ridiculous, and very funny!  WE GET THE BODY IN THE COFFIN IN THE GROUND ON TIME.  (well, like that one time they did.  [coughs])

6. ars pardoxica

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i listened to this one pretty slowly, for me.  it’s very much plot over character, at least in my opinion.  which is fair since there’s quite a lot of plot and set dressing to establish.  we’re following (dr.) sally grissom, a scientist from the twenty-first century who accidentally creates time travel and ends up stuck back in the 1940s.  think a bombs and eisenhower.  it was always interesting, and the paradoxes created by the time travel experiments they kept doing were fascinating (i love time travel stuff because of the paradoxes it creates) but i didn’t get really ravenous for it until season two, which is when i really felt it picked up speed.  you’ve got anthony stuck in a literal CAGE - a “blackroom” bubble set outside of time, sally trying to garden (oh god), a gang consisting of a veteran, a (former) widow and time doubles trying to bring down ODAR (the company sally used to work for, and that anthony still does) and esther sliding down the ladder of morally unsound one determined rung at a time and it makes for a REALLY grabbing audio drama, eh?

7. the strange case of starship iris

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i’m already in love with violet liu, all right?  she’s a science officer on starship iris–well, what was starship iris.  when we first join violet, every single one of her crew mates has just died in an explosion on the pod they were traveling off ship with and the starship iris is in its last throes as well.  luckily(?) a passing ship comes along with a plan to get her to safety.  this has a real illuminae vibe to it (which is an amazing book btw) and all the characters are already so freaking likable.  it’s only on episode two and already shaping up to be a favorite!

8. the orbiting human circus (of the air)

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  if there’s a more heart-warming podcast out there, then i haven’t run across it yet.  first of all, julian koster’s voice is so vulnerable and soft that i would use myself and everyone i know and also puppies as a shield against everything terrible in the universe for him.  second, the rest of the cast - leticia especially - is just as freaking talented.  the premise is that julian is the janitor at a radio show that broadcasts from the top of the eiffel tower and has strange and impossible acts every night, from tale-telling crickets to singing saws to the orkestral, a bird that can play every orchestral instrument (except that it refuses to play the viola, because reasons).  it’s fun and cute and breaks your heart with happiness regularly and often!

9. alice isn’t dead

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is a horror podcast about a truck driver who is looking for her missing wife.  jasika nicole has to have one of my favorite voices around and having it be so heavily dependent on that makes me ridiculously happy.  throw in the story-telling of joseph fink, the depth and cohesiveness of his writing, and there is nothing not to love here.

10. within the wires

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is really sufficiently creepy considering it’s not often overtly creepy.  this is set up as a series of relaxation tapes, which progressively get more and more interested in helping the listener break out of the facility in which she’s being kept.  super chilling at times, because the voice is so calm and the action so dangerous.

11. welcome to night vale

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, what more can be said about this at this point?  if you’re not listening to it, you’re wrong.  why wouldn’t you want to visit a town that can’t be visited and where every conspiracy theory is real and a part of everyday life?  yeah, everyone knows about the vague yet menacing government agency, steve carlsberg, you’re not hitting on anything new there.  there’s a dog park that doesn’t allow dogs, angels that are never to be identified as angels, mountains that aren’t real, a glow cloud that–ALL HAIL and a love story so complete and perfect that it can and will utterly steal your breath at times.  go, listen, inhale.

things I desperately need:

Trust Fall

Langst/Klance short fic

Trust is a weird thing, isn’t it? It’s something people take so seriously, yet they also turned it into a game. Lance just falls, and sees what happens.

-

“Oof!”

Lance made a grunt sound as he hit the ground in front of Pidge. Pidge shook her head slowly, gripping her laptop closer to her body.

“I trusted you.” Lance narrowed his eyes up to her. He laid there, arms splayed on his sides, a pout playing on his face. “I even gave you a warning.”

Pidge rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Do you think I’m just gonna drop my laptop to catch you for your dumb game? I’m sorry, Lance, but I’m really busy right now.”

Lance pout deepens, but nodded his head in understanding as Pidge lowered her face to give him a smile.

“Next time buddy, okay?”

-

Lance wanted to try it again, but this time it was with Hunk.

Lance walked a slow pace towards Hunk, humming innocently and tunefully, his arms at his sides until he was a close enough to Hunk for him to make the catch.

“Trust fall!” Lance shouted, turning his back and letting gravity take him down, falling, hoping a pair of arms would catch him.

Sadly, there weren’t.

“Oh, Lance!!” Hunk shouted in surprise, almost dropping, his plates, “Stop doing that! I can’t catch you with my hands full!!”

Hunk set the plates he was going to use for the food later down, holding out his hand for Lance to take, which he does.

“I trusted you.” Lance chuckled jokingly, narrowing his eyes as he did with Pidge. He grabbed the plates down and handed them back to Hunk.

“Sorry, dude,” Hunk frowned as soon as his hands was full of the plates again. He shifted his arms for a better position for the plates, and smiled. “Just kinda caught me off guard.”

“Ahh, don’t worry, it’s just fun and games,” Lance shrugged, “Don’t drop me next time, butterfingers.” He chuckled, and Hunk gave him a smile and shook his head, nudging Lance’s arm with his own.

“Next time, buddy, okay?”

-

Keith was next on his list.

It was after training of course. Lance had waited for Keith to be done with the bot, as it fell hard to the ground in pieces, Keith ended the session and moved out of the training area, where Lance waits for him near the entrance.

Lance was a little nervous for this one, considering that he would expect Keith to be the last person to catch him. But reality is, Lance doesn’t care if Keith catched him or not.

Because he already trusts Keith with his life.

Lance cracked a smirk, his arms ready to be stretched out, falling back on either against the cold floor of the castle, or the warmth of Keith’s arms and body.

He popped out, seeing the surprise in Keith’s purple eyes, and fell back.

“Trust fall!!!” He yelled.

Gravity took him, but instead of a pair of arms catching him, it was the whole body instead, taking both Keith and himself to the ground.

Whoops.

“Agh, LANCE!!” Keith groaned, “Get your dead weight off of me!!”

Lance laughed playfully, like a puppy looking for attention.

“Keeeeeith,” he pouted, sitting up and straddling his hips purposely, “I trusted you!”

Lance could’ve sworn he saw a quick pink flush on Keith’s cheeks, but he let that thought out of his mind.

Keith pursed his lips, not knowing what to do as if Lance straddling his hips was a once in a life kind of thing.

Keith gritted his teeth. “Get. Off.”

Lance would be hurt by this, but he caught the flicker of a smile on the corner of Keith’s mouth, knowing he was enjoying this as much as he was.

“I swear to God, LANCE!!” Keith whined, “You’re crushing me!!”

Lance grinned widely, and crossed his arms, a thought running across his mind.

“Promise me you’ll catch me next time, then.” Lance smirked.

“Lance-”

Lance smiled again, taking his hands and tickling Keith’s sides, causing him to laugh uncontrollably. A laugh that could save his life, a sound that he finds the most comfort in when the days were dark.

Lance laughed wildly too. “Promise me!”

“I-haha!!-I-sTOP IT!!” Lance caught tears in Keith’s eyes from laughing too hard, clutching his sides and wiggling underneath Lance, his body warm from the contact.

“I PROMISE!!”

-

Lance decided that his next target shall be Shiro.

But hey, what other ways can he spend his time around the castle without having a little fun for himself?

He peered around the corridor wher he saw Shiro talking to Allura about what move they shall proceed next with Zarkon and his army at hand on one of the screens, dragging their hands across it as they make the plans.

Lance wonders if even Shiro would drop everything just to catch him.

Lance made a small smile to himself, and walked in unnoticed, not listening to the talk exchanges between Shiro and Allura.

“Trust fall!!” Lance smiled widely, confident that maybe he would be caught.

Instead, he had his trust back on the floor.

Allura yelped in surprise and confusion, and Shiro just groaned with frustration.

“Ahh, Lance!” He raised his voice, “Not now!!”

Lance felt his heart break just a little, but it was alright. It was only fun and games, anyways.

“I trusted you.” Lance pouted, chuckling again. His arms at his sides, his head tilted up to look at Shiro and Allura, who both towered over him like his parents would when he was about to get -dun dun dun- la chancla.

Lance’s chuckle turned more into a light hearted laugh. It was enough for Shiro to lower his gaze to a more calm expression, cracking a small smile as he helped Lance back up.

Allura raised an eyebrow, still confused. “Is this ‘trust fall’ an earth thing?”

“Kind of,” Shiro chucked, “Hey, Lance, maybe you should stop doing this to everyone. We’re not always gonna be prepared, you’re always catching us off guard.”

Lance felt a small frown forming on his mouth when looked down, staring the ground where he was just laying. He felt a little guilty annoying everyone.

That “trust fall” thing was only something that he would do with his siblings, who no matter what they were doing or how annoyed they were, they would drop everything just to catch the boy in their arms.

It was all just fun and games, right?

“Sorry, Shiro,” Lance chuckled sheepishly, “I was just trying to pass the time.”

Allura grinned, “Well, you’re in luck Lance. Shiro and I have just finished our plan for when we infiltrate the Galra. Get the others, too. Are you ready?”

Lance’s eyes went up, a small smile finding its way back on his face.

-

He decided to do it just one last time.

-Run.-

-Run.-

-Run.-

That’s all that came to his mind. That’s all he wanted to do. But he didn’t. He couldn’t.

Lance was the one who drew the attention. He drew the attention away from Shiro and Pidge, so that they could get closer to what they needed.

Lance felt himself cornered, surrounded by the Galra.

He lifted his gun, ready to fire when they did.

And when they did, he just wasn’t quick enough to avoid all four guns aiming and firing him.

He remembers hearing the blast ricochet from all four.

He remembers their taunting words, how -useless- he was and how -irritating- he must be for his teammates to leave him all alone.

He remembers the aching pain from his chest to his leg, a burning sensation that his grandchildren could’ve felt.

He remembers seeing the Galra fall back, leading themselves to believe that they have killed one.

He remembers standing on his two, thinking of the first time he walked his first steps towards his older brother, now thinking of how these were him possibly taking his last few steps.

He remembers hearing echoes of voices and blasts coming from the end of the corridor of the Galra ship.

He remembers hearing Keith’s shouts stand out from the rest.

He remembers Keith’s laugh and his smile, which urges him forward.

Holding his sides, cracking his smile possibly for the last time, he takes bigger steps to get closer to Keith, who was crouching down behind a busted machine, a good hideaway from the Galra’s blasts.

As Lance got closer, he took smaller steps, croaking out his next words.

“Trust fall.”

Although, instead of falling back, he fell forward, gravity pulling him down, expecting to feel the cold ground of the Galra ship.

Instead he felt a pair of arms in front of him, and when he looked up, he saw a sight of someone, an expression he hopes to never see on his face again. The expression of pain and concern, eyes wide in panic. Brows furrowed worriedly, and mouth tightened as if trying to hold in the sobs. He saw the tears prickling his face.

Lance didn’t want to see that. He didn’t want to see Keith like that ever again.

“I trust you,” Lance chuckled, feeling Keith adjusting him in his arms, cradling him close to his own body, despite the fact that he was being drenched in Lance’s blood.

“S-Shut up, Lance, j-just-shut-,” Keith choked, trying to get a hold of himself. “You’re gonna be alright, you’re gonna-you have to-”

Lance lifted his hand and tangled it in Keith’s hair. He just wanted to see Keith smile one more time. He saw Keith shout something into his intercom of his helmet frantically.

Lance felt Keith tighten his grip on him when he felt himself drift away, as if he believes that the tighter he held on, the longer Lance will stay.

“I’m..not going a-anywhere Keith, but you..don’t n-need me,” Lance just laughed, “I’m just the s-seventh wheel.”

Lance was so close to Keith that he could hear the breath caught in Keith’s mouth.

“No, y-you’re not, you idiot,” Keith’s tears rolled down his cheeks, “Y-You weren’t supposed to go out like this. You -aren’t- supposed to–We were just getting-,” he sniffled, laughing like him crying was so stupid, “getting started.”

Lance laughed, and hugged himself closer to Keith, taking in his scent, even if his blood spilled over him.

Finally, he heard other voices, other hands trying to help him up. But all he did was held onto Keith tighter.

All Lance wanted to do was just lay there, knowing that his silly little trust fall wasn’t all stupid. He wanted to lay there, with Keith holding him close as if he was precious cargo. The longer Keith held on, the longer Lance will hold on.

Trust is a precious cargo that Lance likes to hold on. It’s funny, you know. The way it’s been made into a kind of game he held on as a kid? The way he trusts Keith with his own life. The kind of trust that turns a certain bond into something more than one person hoping the other will catch them.

It’s funny, the way he believes that falling is just like flying, except there’s a more permanent destination. Whether it’s the cold floor of a castle or a ship, or the warmth of someone who cares about him.

It all was just fun and games, right?

anonymous asked:

What about an imagine where the RFA are already in relationships when they meet and fall in love with MC? How would they feel and what would they do? Eventually they find out that MC reciprocates their feelings but is keeping quite and holding back because of their relationships.

Gah! These ALMOST turned out into mini-fics!! There’s just so much material to work with >_<

For now, I only wrote Yoosung, Zen, Jaehee and Jumin. HOWEVER, due to Seven’s circumstances as a secret agent, I do not believe he would be in a relationship with anyone—even considering the possibility of a mission, it is unlikely that it would be long-term or serious.

If you’d like to see other characters for this ask, you may request it, but I’m also working on about 4 other asks right now, so please be patient <3 In the end, I’m writing for you guys anyway, so, I hope you’ll understand!

Regardless, I hope you enjoy!! I had fun writing this ^~^ (Jaehee’s might break your heart i mean what)

–R.I.

Yoosung

He’s been dating this cute, girly college student from his class, and he had been determined to have a stable relationship with her, since she was his first girlfriend. She’d been the one to confess to him, and he giddily accepted, excited to experience “love.” He constantly felt pressured to say cute things a boyfriend should say, and act gentlemanly, sweet and romantic. It took a lot to keep her happy.

When you joined the RFA, he was excited to get to know you, and the two of you hit it off easily. He found himself looking forward to your messages, and he always felt happy during your calls. He’d never even met you, but you were able to make him so… so happy. Not like his girlfriend at all. He had to force himself around her. He felt conflicted. Was this how a relationship is supposed to work? Is he supposed to feel stressed and tired because of his girlfriend?

At the RFA party, Yoosung overheard your conversation with Zen. He listened quietly from behind a wall, as you cried to Zen about how you’d fallen in love with Yoosung, but it could never work out because he’s already in love with someone else. He felt his heart clench in pain as he listened to your muffled sobs against Zen’s shoulder. Jealousy stirred in his chest, wanting to be the one who wiped away your tears instead of Zen. And it was then that he knew, you were the one he loved.

With his feelings sorted out, Yoosung decided to break up with his girlfriend before doing anything with you. But before he could even say anything, his girlfriend broke up with him over text: ‘Hey, Yoosung… I’m really sorry but I don’t think we’ll work out. I realized that I wasn’t in love with you, but I was in love with the idea of having a boyfriend. I’m really sorry, but I don’t want to continue our relationship based on these shallow feelings of mine. Thank you for everything.” While it was true that he was never really in love with her, he did shed a few tears for losing the relationship they had. It wasn’t like he hadn’t liked her at all—he would still feel emotionally attached, despite their short relationship.

After a short while, he finally gathered up the courage to tell you about his feelings. It was over a brunch date, and there had been a painfully awkward silence prior to his confession (as neither of you knew what to say. Him, because he was nervous to admitting his feelings, and you, because you were miserably in love with him but couldn’t express it)

His confession surprised you. You hadn’t expected that his girlfriend had broken up with him, nor that he reciprocated your feelings! You’d thought it was a painful, one-sided love, and the fact that it wasn’t made you relieved to the point of tears. “I-I thought I would have to be your friend forever… just watching you smile beside h-her… and not me,” you sniffled, sincerely confessing your thoughts. “I thought that you’d never look at me, and that I’d have to k-keep giving you advice on how to make your girlfriend happy…”

“If you’ll be my girlfriend, then I hope you never stop advising me on how to make my girlfriend happy, because I want to make you the happiest woman on Earth.”

Zen

As a publicity stunt, Zen had been forced to date Echo Girl. He was against the idea, but as an aspiring actor, he had no choice but to follow his management’s orders. Besides, it would be good practice for roles where his character was in a relationship. He didn’t really care, since this wasn’t a real relationship with sincere feelings. Echo Girl hardly knew him.

He never expected that he would actually fall in love with someone so soon after his relationship with Echo Girl was made public. Your appearance in the RFA was sudden, after all. But Zen had fallen in love with you at first sight. You were kind to everyone, listening to their thoughts quietly whether you agreed or disagreed. And you weren’t pretending to be nice, either. Nobody would be able to keep up an act like that for so long—he would know, he acts everyday, and he can’t get into character every time.

He fell in love with your voice, just as he fell in love with the rest of you. But your voice had a special appeal to him. You sounded so sweet and sincere, and prior to the party, it was his only way of feeling connected with you. He’d savour the sound, loving the way his name rolled off your tongue. “Hey Zen… hypothetically, what would you do if I liked you?” His heart almost stopped at the question, but he eventually managed to squeeze out an “I don’t know.” You had sounded so genuine, his heart was racing with the possibility in mind.

Despite not confirming your feelings, Zen approached his manager, demanding that they put an end to the relationship publicity stunt, or he would publicly announce that the company was lying to build his image. When it was all done and dealt with, he proceeded to beg and beg Seven for your apartment’s address. Zen would be in debt to Seven for thousands of Honey Buddha Chips, but it was all worth surprising you for your smile. With his knee to the floor, and a bouquet of roses raised towards you, he imitates your confession to say…

“MC… hypothetically, what would you do if I liked you back?”

Jaehee

She’s been dating a man for a while before she met you. He had asked her out during one of the C&R business events, and fallen in love with her at first sight. While Jaehee knew that his feelings were sincere, she wasn’t sure about how she felt towards him, but he told her that he was willing to wait.

Fortunately for her, you’d soon joined the RFA, and she felt that she was able to confide in you about her problems. You would listen to her as she ranted about her admiration for Zen, Jumin’s irritating tendencies, and relationship problems, amongst many others. With each conversation, Jaehee became more and more relaxed talking with you, and your ability to ease her burdens only got better as you learned more about her.

Jaehee’s boyfriend noticed the way Jaehee’s expression had grown softer lately, and how she always replied to your texts immediately in the midst of their conversations. He watched knowingly as Jaehee’s eyes gained a happy glint in them, her laughter sounding more feminine and relaxed, compared to her forced, unsure chuckles from before she’d met you. He was fully aware that Jaehee was most likely in love with you, and that he would have to let her go soon.

He prayed to the gods to forgive him for forcing someone who wasn’t interested to stay in a relationship with him, begging for just a little more time with her. He knew that he should support her and push her towards the one she truly loved, but he wanted to be just a little more selfish, until she would realize her own feelings.

So when Jaehee finally confronted him, he was prepared for her confession. “I’m really sorry. I… thank you for being so patient with me up until now. I truly did enjoy spending time with you, and I am honoured that you would fall in love with someone like me, so I believe you deserve a proper apology,” Jaehee forced herself to look into his eyes despite the guilt in her heart.

But he deserved a serious, proper explanation from her, because he’d been nothing but kind to her throughout their relationship. He’d put his best efforts in making her happy, and she knew it. “I’m really grateful for your feelings, and I’m truly sorry to say that I can’t return them. There is… someone else who has already stolen my heart,” she admitted softly.

Finally, he was able to let her go. He left her with one last kiss on the forehead, and bid her farewell, “Thank you for everything. I hope that whoever you love will be able to love and care for you much better than I was able to. Please, be happy from now on.”

Jaehee couldn’t help but shed a few tears, for losing a good relationship with an honest, sincere man. But no matter how amazing he was, her feelings for you would not change. You were the only one who could make her feel so relaxed, comfortable and happy even when her work pressured her to no ends. You were the only one who she felt could understand her, and she wanted to give you the same happiness she received.

Although she was now single, she still believed that her love was one-sided. Love between women was becoming more socially acceptable, but she had no idea about your views about it. And even then, it didn’t necessarily mean that you returned her feelings. But imagine her surprise when you burst into her house upon hearing the news that she’d broken up with her boyfriend. Tears were streaming down your face—you were crying for her. You explained, “But Jaehee… didn’t he make you happy? Why aren’t you crying? It makes me really sad when I think about everything you’ve lost with him… I had been s-so happy that he was there for you through all your struggles…”

Gently, she wiped your tears, looking affectionately into your eyes. “The person standing right in front of me is the one who I’ve fallen in love with. MC, you’re the one who makes me feel happy. Your kind words have always cheered me up. I don’t know if you feel the same, but I will try my best to win your affection, okay? Because MC… I love you.”

Jumin

Money, fame and looks… Jumin Han had it all. He had never had trouble getting anything he wanted, although he was still dying to understand love—not that he would ever admit that. Instead of expressing this desire, he hooked up with various women, trying to find someone who could match his preferences.

He was in yet another of these shallow relationships when he met you, but he hadn’t been attracted to you immediately. It had taken a lot of time and conversation before he developed any feelings towards you. At first, it was a fond interest. ‘MC sure can be cute, trying to argue with me about the business world… Doesn’t she know I have a large advantage over her in that area?’ It slowly changed into admiration, as he observed how you were able to get along with everyone in the RFA. He often had trouble with Zen, but you seemed to handle the narcissist without a problem. (No Jumin, Zenny just hates you..)

It wasn’t until he read a magazine in which he took a quiz, ‘Are you in love?!’ (he actually believes this stuff, thinking that they publish credible information) Thinking of his latest hookup, he circled answers in pencil, and calculated his score, which resulted in, “SADLY, NO: but we hope that you will find ‘The One’ soon!! There’s gotta be somebody for you out there :)” Sighing, Jumin threw the magazine to the floor. He would never find ‘The One,’ at this rate. He’s already failed so many times…

A thought struck him. Hesitantly, he retrieved the magazine from the floor, and attempted the quiz again, with thoughts of you in mind. ‘Does he/she make you smile when you talk?’ Yes. ‘Do you want to know him/her more?’ Yes. ‘Do you want him/her to be a part of your life forever?’ If you would, then yes. “WOW: It looks like you’re in love! See our next issue to find out if they could be ‘The One!’”

Flustered, Jumin scowls at the magazine despite the happy feeling bubbling in his chest. Maybe this magazine isn’t that credible after all. (Now you think that?? You tsundere.) He spends the night drinking wine, complemented with dazed thoughts. He’d never truly loved a woman in his life before, not even his own (gold-digging) mother. And yet this magazine claims that he’s in love with… you? You, a woman who’d just waltzed into his life and captured his genuine interest. …Fuck. Maybe I do have feelings for her.

“What is love?” he asks you over dinner, swirling the wine in his glass around the brim. You reply sadly in a mock posh accent, “What is love, but an emotion that only serves to break one’s heart?” Surprised by your answer, he wonders what makes you say that. He quietly questions you if someone had dared to break your heart, voicing his shock that anyone could possibly turn down a sincere, kind-hearted woman who could pique one’s interest in conversation, such as yourself. You laugh bitterly, shaking your head in disbelief. “It’s you, idiot,” you mutter, facing downwards. Avoiding his eyes, you stood up abruptly from the table. “I… I’m gonna go.”

Alarmed, he catches hold of your hand. “Wait!” he calls out to you before he even realizes what he’s done. “MC… I think I’m in love with you. I haven’t sorted out my feelings yet, but I’m really, really interested in you. I don’t understand it myself, but I do know that you’re special to me. Will you wait for me?”

Softly, sincerely, he stares into your eyes, silently begging you to understand. And you stay.

“Happy Birthday, again. Hopefully 20 is starting to treat you well… Uh-… I still smell like your perfume… it’s nice… But… that’s not why I’m calling you. I… I shouldn’t have kissed you last night, Io. I don’t regret it, but… fuck-… I shouldn’t have done it… Listen, Io… I can’t do this right now… “us”… You’re an amazing woman, and I do like you, but… I don’t think it’s our time… I… I think it would be best if we distance ourselves for… a while… I-… Maiolaine, I’m sorry…“
