Twilight Saga: Alice Cullen [ENFJ]
OFFICIAL TYPING by Charity / The Mod.
Extroverted Feeling (Fe): Alice has a bubbly personality, and spends a great deal of her time influencing others’ emotions, interfering in their lives (for the greater good she sees) and helping them make the “right choices.” She is a natural peacemaker, but also tends to believe she knows how people should feel. She often has Jasper “mess with” Bella’s emotions, so Bella can be in the mood Alice believes she should be in (poor Fe).
Introverted Intuition (Ni): She has an instant ability to foresee “consequences” based on the decisions her family and friends make, and her entire focus is on following these conclusions to their correct end. Before she becomes a vampire, she makes assumptions based on her instincts, visions, and beliefs about other people (predicting her mother’s murder); after, she uses her visions to guide the family, avoid trouble, and even manipulate Aro, by showing him “the most likely” outcome of fighting the Cullens (his death, and the destruction of the Volturi). She changes her visions whenever someone changes a decision; none of them remain rooted in stone, but all of them influence her behavior (“Alice saw me coming,” Jasper admits; she replies, “You made me wait a long time”). Alice leaves Bella a cryptic clue about her whereabouts and intentions when she disappears, trusting her to figure it out.
Extroverted Sensing (Se): She loves clothes. And fashion. And playing the stock market. And dressing up Bella. And designing a beautiful cottage full of pretty things. And driving fast cars. And she’s fairly good with fighting, too, even though Jasper does his best to protect her. Alice is not always great at reacting in the moment; she prefers to rely on her instincts (Ni), although she can adapt when she has to. She is quick to take action, to flee and protect Bella, when she senses her presence might harm her family.
If she stopped to think about it, she might realize Bella needs to be an
individual, and does not need to reflect Alice’s interests or values to be
normal… but that would be questioning her own judgments. Alice can be detached
and even cold; she leaves Bella and Edward without a word, to protect them, but
ignores any attempts to reach out to her. In the second book/film, she also
ignores Bella and her pain, out of the “greater good.”
