brazilian whiteknee tarantula

Brazilian Giant Whiteknee Tarantula (Acanthoscurria geniculata)

…a stunning species of Tarantuala (Theraphosidae) which as evidenced by its common name is endemic to the forests of Brazil. Like other New World tarantulas Acanthoscurria geniculata is a predator and will feed on a variety of invertebrates and occasionally small vertebrates. Although they can deliver semi-painful bite A. geniculata will prefer to flick urticating hairs at  a potential predator.

Like other colorful tarantula species Brazilian Giant Whiteknee Tarantulas are highly valued in the pet trade.
