Marshall “Eddie” Conway was a Leader in the Black Panther Party that was falsely convicted and imprisoned of shooting and killing a police officer back in 1970. Marshall Conway maintained his innocence, but due to racism and his affiliation with BPP. It would later be determined that Conway’s case was one of dozens affected by a ruling in which Maryland’s high court said verdicts before 1980 were invalid because of faulty jury instructions. He was freed after spending 44 years in prison, during his time in jail he tried to do what he joined the Black Panthers for, which was to educate and uplift his people. Now that he is free he aims to continue with serving the Black Community through education, food programs, and various other programs. SanCopha Salute to Eddie Conway for maintaining his innocence and staying true to his goals in the Black Community.
