You nervously stood at the side of the stage. You were at Benny’s bar and it was karaoke night. Nervously you fiddled with your phone, glancing up your breathing hitched once you saw the person who had your heart in his hands and crushed it.

Anthony Ramos. He didn’t see you, thankfully, but you noticed the girl with him he had his arm around her as they sat at a booth in the corner. Knots twisted in your stomach as you suddenly felt the urge to back out. Your friend Benny who owns the bar insisted on you singing claiming you had a wonderful voice.

“Your up Y/N.” Your friend Benny stated, handing you a mic. Smiling very little you felt your hands shake. Benny looked worried. “You’ll do great. Knock ‘em dead!” He encouraged you. Nodding you walked onto the stage the light on you.

“Um, hello.” You began, gaining the attention of view of the bar occupants. “I-I’m Y/N and I’m going to sing a song most of you may know it’s called Someone Like You by Adele.” You stated. You looked out at the crowd and felt your heart skip a beat when you saw Anthony looking at you. His face couldn’t contain the look of surprise he had of seeing you there.

The music began to play as you put the mic on the mic stand adjusting it ever so slightly.

“I heard that you settled down. That you found a girl and your married now.” You sang, your eyes glazing over. “I heard that your dreams came true. Guess she gave you things….I didn’t give to you.” Your vision clouded as a memory swept through them.

You sat at the café with your friend Oak who’s friends with Anthony and yourself.

He did it…..You thought to yourself. He finally gets to do what he wanted, he’s preforming on stage where he belongs, under the spotlight.

“Are you okay?” Oak asks you.

“I’m fine Oak.” You giggled and smiled at him though it was fake. “Continue.” You urged him. He nodded hesitantly. Oak went on to tell you about the girl Anthony started seeing. Jasmine.

They looked so happy. You’ve never seen Anthony that happy before. I guess you just didn’t give him everything he wanted but you tried, boy did you try to make both of your lives right and happy.

“Old friend, why are you so shy? It ain’t like you to hold back or hide from the light.”

You and Anthony gone way back. Both of you grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same school. Both of you were best friends before you started dating in your senior year of high school. You used to be inseparable.

After the endings of your relationship you tried being friends again but every time you tried talking to him he didn’t talk as much. Always keeping the conversation short and leaves with excuses that he has to meet with someone, every single time. So that end of hope quickly dropped.

“I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited but I couldn’t stay away, I couldn't’  fight it, I had hope you’d see my face and you’d be reminded that for it isn’t over.” Your eyes glazed over feeling your heart pound in your chest, sweat threatening to slide down your face. “Never mind I’ll find someone like you, I hope nothing but the best for you too,” You dared to look at Anthony who looked speechless and sad.

“Don’t forget me, I beg, I remember you said, ‘Sometimes it last in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.’ Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.”

You laid there on the blanket, your head rested on Anthony’s shoulder with his arm around you.

“I love you.” He whispered. His voice was so quiet you almost didn’t catch it. Your lips quirked upwards.

“I love you too.”

“Can I tell you something?” He asked. You nodded, your eyes going up to his face. “Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.” He stated. “That’s what I heard people say to me about being with you.”

“Anthony” You began tilting his face so he was looking at you. “I would never hurt you.” He smiled.

“I know. But it’s true. It always ends one way or another. Either your happy and you’re together ‘til the end or you just get hurt instead. I love you Y/N and I want this to last.” He tells you, grabbing your hand, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it lightly. You smiled, leaning up your kissed his perfect lips.

“I love you so much.” You told him, truthfully. He moved so he was hovering over you with that adorable smile on his freckled face.

“I love you.” His lips touched your ever so lightly but sparks always flied.

“You know how the time flies, only yesterday was the times of our lives. We were born and raised in a summer haze, bound by the surprise of our glory days…” You felt your mind flood back to the memories you use to cherish for so long.

It was the summer before your senior year in high school, your family was going away for the summer and allowed Anthony to go with to the cabin.

“Come on Y/N your so slow!” Anthony laughed.

“Hey that’s no fair you’re faster than me.” You stated as you ran after your friend down to the lake. Anthony reached the dock before you did and quickly kicked his shoes off and pulled his shirt of before jumping into the water. You kicked off your flip flops off and looked in the water for Anthony but you couldn’t see him.

“Anthony!” You yelled getting close to the edge, squatting down. Suddenly he rose from the water and grabbed your arm. You screamed as you were pulled into the water with your clothes on. You came up above water where Anthony was laughing his ass off. “My clothes!” You exclaimed trying to scramble out of the water. A hand pulling you away from the dock made you look at Anthony, his short curly hair stuck down as it was soaked. “What was that for?” You pouted. He laughed.

“I don’t know but it was hilarious!” Rolling your eyes you splashed him. You instantly regretted it once you saw the look on Anthony’s face.

He came towards you but you backed away as he started splashing you. You squealed as you suddenly were lifted up.

“Anthony!” You laughed as he threw you a few feet away in the water. Once you rose back above the water you stuck your head out at him.

“I hate you.” He chuckled and swam towards you.

“No you don’t.” He stated.

“So? What’s your point?” You asked him, as suddenly he was really close. You felt your face heat up.

“Y/N?” He asked you suddenly sounding uncertain.

“Yeah?” You asked, your voice quieter than before, staring into Anthony’s eyes before they flickered to his lips. Anthony slowly leaned in, hesitant. You met half way. That was the moment you and Anthony shared your first kiss and so many more happened after that, that summer.

“I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited, but I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t fight it, I had hoped you’d see my face and that you’d be reminded that for me it isn’t over. Never mind I’ll find someone like you, I wish nothing but the best for you too. Don’t forget me I beg, I remember you said ‘ Sometimes it last in love but sometimes it hurts instead.’” Tears slowly slid down your face.

Your shift at the diner ended so you made your way inside your apartment where Anthony should be.

“Hey babe!” You greeted your boyfriend. He gave you a small ‘hey.’ You sat down next to him on the sofa where he was watching a basketball game. “Are you okay?” You had asked.

Something was off.

“Yeah everything is great, can I get back to my game now?” He asked, not looking at you once.

“Um yeah. Of course! I’ll just start making dinner.” You stated, standing and going to the kitchen. Your feelings were hurt. He never acted this way towards you before.

Did you do something wrong? Did you make him angry?

He usually will tell you straight away if he was upset with you, so maybe he was just having a bad day?

Dinner was quiet aside from the sound of metal silverware clanking together.

“Ant, are you okay? Are you not feeling well? Did I do something wrong?” You asked your boyfriend worriedly.

“I’m fine.” He stated blandly.

“Are you-”

“I said I’m fine!” His outburst startled you. Guilt and anger twisted inside him. “I’m sorry.” He said, getting up and leaving. Anthony slid his shoes on and put his coat on.

“Wait Anthony where are you going?” You stood up from your chair as tears stung your eyes.

“Out.” Was all he said before the door slammed shut.

“Nothing compares, no worries or cares, no regrets and mistakes, they’ re memories made. Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?”

You laughed at some corny joke Anthony just made. A bottle of wine open and half empty. You were both drunk while you laid in his arms while he told you jokes and stories.

“I lurvvv you.” His voice slurred. Giggling you kissed his cheek.

“I looovee you too.” You slurred.

-

“What about this one!” Anthony pointed at an ad on the newspaper. “The rent is affordable and look! Two bathrooms!” He exclaimed, you laughed.

“I’ll make a call so we can check it out.” You stated, pulling out your phone. ANnhony wrapped his arms around you and spun you around as you laughed.

“This one’s the one I’m telling you!” He says, speaking of the first apartment you two would hopefully be moving into.

-

Your leg bounced, clutching John’s hand tightly as you sat on the toilet lid in the bathroom waiting for the results.

“I think it’s been 5 minutes.” Anthony stated. You nodded. “Hey…” You looked at him, “If it does come back positive just know I will still love you and the baby.” You smiled at him before picking up the first test. You shook your head, dropping it into the waste basket. Picking up the second and third they all read the same.

Negative.

You felt disappointed.

“Hey are you okay?” Anthony asked, rubbing his thumb over your head to ease your nerves. You nodded.

“I know we’re not ready to have kids but I actually hoped it came back positive.” You admitted.

“Me too.” You looked at him surprised.

“Really?” He nodded.

“I’ve always wanted to have a kid of my own, especially if it’s with you,” Your face went red. “But I think this is a good thing, we’re both not ready, but I promise the moment we are we can make 10 babies if you want.” You chuckled, you lent down and kissed him.

“I love you.”

“I love you more.” Anthony admitted.

Never mind I’ll find someone like you, I wish nothing but the best for you too, don’t forget me I beg. I remember you said, ‘Sometimes it last in love, but sometimes it hurts instead”

Anthony watched your performance. You were crying as you sang. He felt his own heart break at the sight of you. One thing he felt was regret. He had you and lost you and it was all his fault.

“Never mind I’ll find someone like you, I wish nothing but the best for you too. Don’t forget me I beg, I’ll remember you say, “Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead. Sometimes it last in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.”

Anthony didn’t come that night. You were worried sick and haven’t slept for a minute that night. Bags hung under your eyes because of it. You had to go to work but your tried to call Anthony again but it was of course no use, he didn’t answer.

-

You came back from work exhausted. When you opened the door to the apartment it was already unlocked. Worriedly you peeked your head in and saw the bags by the door. Looking confused you walked inside.

“Anthony?” You called for him. He came out of the bathroom with his things.

“W-Where are you going?” You asked him. “I-I called….I was worried.”

“I’m leaving.” He stated, not looking you in the eye.

“What?” Your voice cracked.

“I said I’m leaving.” He stated once again before shoving things into his bag.

“Why?” He shook his head.

“I just can’t do this anymore, Y/N, I’m sorry.” He told you, picking up his bags he walked passed you as your shoulders shook, looking down the tears slid and gently dripped to the hard wood floor. Once the door closed you broke down into sobs. Your legs gave way causing you to drop to the floor. Hands balled into fist you clenched them tightly as you sobs racked your body.

The song has ended and you were back in reality as everyone in the bar clapped and cheered. You smiled faintly before getting off stage wiping the tears away.

“Come here.” Benny’s arms were already open for you. You quietly cried as you still weren’t over that pain, it’s been 6 months.

Anthony saw you crying and wanted to go over and comfort you. But this was his fault. Every word you sang was a pang to his heart. He should be the one to comfort you but he’s the reason why you’re crying.

“Anthony.” Jasmine’s voice drew Anthony’s attention temporarily away from you.

“Yeah?”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, of course, why?” He asked.

“Because you look like you want to cry.” Jasmine told him.

And it was true.

“I’m sorry.” He nervously chuckled. “I was just thinking of something.” He told her.

“Are you sure?” He nodded wrapping an arm around her he kissed her cheek causing her to smile at him, he smiled back but it didn’t reach his eyes.

You wiped your tears away.

Though it hurt, singing that song felt good, allowing you to let out the feelings you bottled up for 6 months. Maybe now you can move on. Your phone buzzed in your pocket, pulling it out you saw a text from Oak.

‘Benny told me what happened, are you okay?’ ~ Oak

You smiled and replied.

‘I’m okay. Thank you.’ ~ You

‘Wanna go to lunch tomorrow?’ ~Oak

A grin spread across your face.

‘Definitely.’ ~You

Someone like you - Derek Hale

A/N - I’m not going to use the whole song, I’ll miss out the last few choruses as it’ll get boring reading the same tho basically, this is also my first songfic, it might not be any good, enjoy!

“I heard, that you’re settled down. That you found a girl and your married now. I heard, that your dreams came true. Guess she gave you things I didn’t give to you”

Word has quickly spread around beacon hills when THE Derek Hale was getting married, moving on with his life and building up his very own family, despite his family being burned alive in the past

Everyone who knew Derek knew how happy he’d been recently, who would you have been to sabotage that, you still loved him but you would never dream of sabotaging his relationship with another woman for you own benefit, you could never ruin his happiness

old friend, why are you so shy Ain’t like you to hold back or hide from the light

It wasn’t like Derek to be so quiet and wary around you, he was always himself around you, the loud, bubbly and happy Derek you had fallen in love with

Derek was never one to keep his opinion quiet either, seemed like he had changed a lot in the past few years, hell you had too but in seeing him now, you realised he was a completely different person to who he was when he was with you, he seemed to want a normal life now

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited But I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t fight it I had hoped you’d see my face and that you’d be reminded That for me, it wasn’t over

You had hated to just show up on his doorstep, you however wanted to congratulate him on the engagement, though part of you inside was yearning for him to invite you in or ask you to stay for lunch, part of you knew you wanted him to still love you, part of you wanted him to know you still loved him, that you had never gotten over him.

However as you walked down the gravel path to his gate, hearing the door shut behind you, you still wished for him to call you back and embrace you in his arms for just one last time. You knew just how selfish it sounded but you wanted him all to yourself.

Never Mind I’ll find someone like you I wish nothing but the best, for you two Don’t forget me, I beg I remember you said “Sown times it lasts in love, and sometimes it hurts instead”

You told yourself you would find someone who made you feel like Derek had, you told yourself you were over him, you really did wish them the best, from the bottom of your heart

You remembered the day Derek and you had been laying on the couch, you were telling him about how your friend and her long term boyfriend has split up and he had shrugged saying “sometimes it lasts in love, and sometimes it hurts instead” damn was he right

you know how time flys Only yesterday was the time of our lives We were born and raised in a Summer haze Bound by the surprise, of our glory days

It felt like just yesterday you and Derek had been running around in the tall grass, grass that was taller than the both of you, you had on a white flowing sundress and Derek was wearing shorts and a tank top as he chased you around the fields, you giggling when he caught you and ran his fingers up and down your sides, tickling you and kissing you cheek

You had always been so blinded by the good that rarely noticed the bad, whereas Derek only saw the bad times

Derek’s fuse grew shorter with every fight and your heart tore apart with every insult he would hurl at you in the spur of the moment. He couldn’t keep up a relationship currently, he had a pack of young teenagers to worry about, a pack who really needed his help. However he had a girlfriend who only wanted his love, affection and a little bit of time. The fights were wearing you both down hugely

“ I think we need to take a break” Derek said one day when he walked in the door, the sponge and bleach you had been using to clean went clattering to the floor “b-but I love you” you had tried to reason, Derek still stayed stoic, turning his head because he couldn’t bare to watch you cry, it had always been his weakness, he hated being the source of your pain “ I just don’t think that’s enough anymore” he had replied, not meaning it the way you had taken it, you had taken it that your love wasn’t enough for him, he had meant love couldn’t keep a relationship up, there had to be effort and many other things on both peoples parts, there had to be full love, commitment and loyalty on both parts

Something Derek couldn’t promise

You were silent for a while, Derek taking that as a chance to get the bags he had packed prior to this, he had plodded down the stairs slowly, your sobs breaking his heart “ sometimes it lasts in love, and sometimes it hurts instead ” he had mumbled almost so you hadn’t heard it, “goodbye y/n"closing the door behind him he had heard something being thrown at the door and smashing

That was the worst day of your life

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited But I couldn’t stay saw at, I couldn’t fight it I’d hoped you’d see my face, and that you’d be reminded that for me, it wasn’t over

You had received an invite to the wedding, just they hadn’t expected you to arrive, let alone look happy for them

Again you had though an extremely selfish thought, wishing Derek would say he couldn’t marry her, then run down and say how he was in love with you, however you knew that wouldn’t happen. He looked truly in love with her and she seemed like a lovely woman, you were jealous of her because she had everything you wanted

Stiles had asked you how you were and if you would be okay through the ceremony, to which you responded that it was their day and for him not to make this about you, making him smile, you had always been such a kind person

nothing compares No worries or cares Regrets and mistakes They’re memories made Who would have known how bittersweet this would be

You didn’t plan on going to the after party, you were crossing the busy road to your car as the bride and groom walked out the church

“Y/n” Derek’s voice made your head snap towards him and stop in your tracks, he stood there with a smile on his face, arms linked with his new wife, looking dashing in his tux and his bride looking beautiful in her dress, yet his brows were furrowed “ aren’t you staying for the af-” “Y/N” Lydia screeched at the same time as a loud horn, you only had time to blink, not even enough time to scream before you felt the impact of your head hitting the road, people screaming a your name left, right and centre

Derek had let go of his wife’s hand and begun to run when he heard Lydia screech, apparently both Scott, Theo and Liam had also had the same idea, to jump in front of you, they would heal, you would not

To you it had gone so quickly but to them it was in slow motion, like the truck was contacting with your dress clad body and sending you flying in slow motion, they were running in slow motion

Derek now held your dying body in his arms, the blood pouring from your temple, stomach, legs arms, everywhere, was draining his white shirt as he pulled off his jacket, wrapping it around you along with Liam’s, Scott’s, Stiles’ and Theo’s, using some to keep you warm and the others to put pressure on the bleeding wounds, you were fading fast but he couldn’t bite you, even if you weren’t in public he couldn’t have you living like that

“Y/N PLEASE” Theo begged, the young man had become a new man when he had to come live with you for a while, he was part of Scott’s pack, on the good side now, you were like his older sister, you had never once turned anyone away from your door, you always comforted members of the pack when they needed it, granted if Derek had come round, you may have pretended to not be home

“Come on, come on” Derek begged, sweat drops dripping from his forehead and he tried to take your pain, failing due to the mass amount

Everything was hazy to you, sure you could head the bride screaming and crying, men comforting their wives and girlfriend, people running, the truck driver apologising repeatedly, many people phoning ambulances. Sure you could make out some of the facial features of Derek had he held you in his arms, his worried face looking into your eyes, your face void of all emotion

You reached your hand up to his face, wiping away one of his stray tears, your mind flashing back to a couple of minutes before, the beaming look on his face that was not replaced with an emotion you couldn’t read through the darkness that was overwhelming you

“maybe you were right Derek, maybe my love wasn’t enough” you whispered out, couching up large amounts of blood before the your whole world faded to black
