book of human insects

My Osamu Tezuka collection <3 FAR from beingcomeplete. He is my inspiration and my favorite comic artist of all time. A few items are missing such the the Tezuka sketch book I got from Christmas,  dvd’s of Kimba the White Lion, Metropoils ect and a few Astroboy Games but I wanted to focus on his mangawork.  Phoenix is far from being complete D: and I dont have all issues of Black Jack yet.

Enjolras has three tattoos.

Three tattoos that appeared on his body on his eighteenth birthday.

One reads in scrawling cursive down his left side, “I take it you’re my new roommate?” The text is black– black for the steady, ever-present feeling of the relationship. It’s not romantic. But it’s steady. It’s firm. It’s the kind of relationship that it takes quite a lot to break.

That one would be Combeferre– his best friend from their first day of college, a tall, gangly-limbed pre-med student with far too many books on insects (and just the right amount of books on human rights).

The second reads “I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT FEMINISM AND THE FACT THAT IT’S DEMONIZED WHEN REALLY IT’S JUST COMMON SENSE AND IF YOU BELIEVE IN EQUALITY BETWEEN EVERYONE, THEN YOU ARE A FEMINIST” in a huge block of green text on his right forearm. The green ink doesn’t symbolize a romantic relationship– it stands for a blossoming, youthful relationship that helps both people grow.

That tattoo stands for Courfeyrac. A tiny, bouncy, curly-haired humanities student, who wears a constant smile on his face, and probably a social justice t-shirt as well.

The third and last reads “This is all bullshit. But it’s bullshit that I’d like to believe.” It’s scrawled across his left bicep in a dark red– red that symbolizes romance, as well as the love, the happiness, the pain and anger that comes with it.

It stands for Grantaire. Grantaire, an art student with wild curls, a dark look in his eyes, and a smirk on his lips.

These are Enjolras’s soulmates.

Two platonic.

One romantic.

All equally important.

(Inspired by losamisdelabc’s post)

My company gave everyone who attended our “transversal social media” call a $10 gift card to amazon, so I’m buying myself something to read over winter break.

Toshiko Tomura is a genius; the darling of the intelligentsia. A modern-day Michelangelo, this twenty year-old is already an established international stage actress, an up-and-coming architect, and the next recipient of the prestigious Akutagawa Prize as Japan’s best new writer…

Toshiko is also the mastermind behind a series of murders. The ultimate mimic, she has plagiarized, blackmailed, stolen and replicated the works of scores of talents. And now as her star is rising within the world of the elites and powerful she has amassed a long list of enemies frustrated by the fact that she has built critical and financial acclaim for nothing more than copying others’ work. Neglected as a child, she is
challenging the concepts of gender inequality while unleashing her loneliness upon the world as she climbs the social ladder one body at a time.

Things I desperately wait for
  • Pluto deluxe manga in French if it ain’t cancelled
  • Pluto live-action film from Illumination Entertainment if it doesn’t get cancelled
  • Buddha: The Great Departure on Blu-ray
  • Any Tezuka show on Blu-ray for that matter… What’s taking so long? And I do mean in Japan not elsewhere where it’s hopeless.
  • 2 new Black Jack OVA (1993-2000) episodes after this summer
  • The rest of the Black Jack deluxe manga in French
  • Human Metamorphosis drama series at the end of the month… I should probably read my manga of it.
