REVIEW: So I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did. This was such a real, heartfelt love story, one that even I would see myself going through. We meet Lily a hopeful song writer who keeps under the social radar, she has a big family, and a wonderful best friend Isabel (whom I just love). I really related to Lily, I grew up with a big family and never had privacy, she finds herself frustrated because she can’t find time to do what she loves without interruptions.

One day while she’s daydreaming in chemistry class because let’s face it.. we have all been there, she finds herself writing lyrics of one of her favorite songs on her desk.. only to come back the next day and notice someone had continued the lyrics. She begins writing notes back and forth with a mysterious pen pal. They have so much in common, they feel comfortable sharing even the deepest feelings with each other.

All at the same time we meet Cade, a jerk who always seems to appear at the wrong time and say the wrong things. Soon it’s obvious that Lily and Cade do not have the best friendship out there, seems like they can’t stand each other most of the time. Soon some events cause Cade and Lily to spend more and more time together. But, is it possible to fall for someone who you don’t get along with? We learn that things aren’t always the way they appear. Solve the pen pal mystery by reading this book!

This is such a worthwhile read. Have you read it? What did you think? Send me a message! ❤️Ellie RG

WHEW. Oh MAN. I may not have completed this as a *final* cover, but I wanted at least to share the scanned inks! I’m quite happy with the art and I LOVED having a reason to make proper fanart for Regan and Evelyn. <333 You can bet that more of RoAnna’s characters are going to show up for Inktober!

I wanted to do something ambitious for the background. Thing is… I don’t draw backgrounds regularly. So I began drafting a mockup in Photoshop using photos I’d taken of Portland. Commence furious Clone-Stamping!

Let this be a reminder that I need to do some dang drawing on location again. Took a class during college and it was AMAZING. I could draw backgrounds!! The skill is loooong out of use, so I need to just do it.

Back to the mockup. I was pleased to find that Regan and Evelyn matched a 1-point perspective grid quite nicely! (Jillian you’re supposed to plan that AHEAD OF TIME LOL.) I tweaked the buildings using the Transform tool, which is… a lengthy process. You can see that not all the edges align with the vanishing point. BUT: it’s a good lesson. I have a visualization for something that Ro might be able to use for a future cover. It just needs copious amounts of FIRE and smoke and helicopter high-beams and cracked pavement and this is turning into a run-on sentence but you get the idea. At 3:20 this morning I decided “I made something, but I need to sleep.”

@thesylverlining RoAnna, thank you SO MUCH for believing in me and cheering me on! Thank you for cheering ALL of us on. <333 You are wonderful and I can’t wait to get my hands on the Second Edition of Chameleon Moon.

I haven’t had a chance to reblog everyone’s entries, but I am going to - SOON. :D
