Grandmas Feel Better Bath & Tea
Run a bath, with water as hot as you can bare. Light your favorite candles with the intent to be happy and rejuvenated. Play some music if you like, or an audio book.
Add a bath bomb or bath salt if you have it. If not you can add dried flowers, fresh flowers, essential oils or nothing.
We particularly like bubble baths, and in the spring I’ll throw in some flowers, but bath salt is a common use.
Think of everything that’s bothering you, keeping you up and clawing at the back of your mind, climb in the tub and when you feel the water creep up around your body imagine it pushing all those things to the top of your skin where it isn’t touching, all the bad things float.
Eventually you’ll be totally under water and the bad things will have to just pop right out, and that’s all you have to imagine. Relax and enjoy the water, feel clean inside and out.
Stay as long as you like, the water will get cold or the bubbles will disappear, but there’s no need to rush things. Take your time, relax and enjoy the hot water while it lasts, and forget all the things you let go.
Remember, you’re special and you’re worth living on this planet. It’s ok to feel sad and weighted down and even hurt, and it’s even more ok to let all those things go. You don’t have to hold onto them to make anyone feel better or to justify being a person.
Once your done with your bath, fold yourself up in a towel and start on your tea when you’re ready. I will sit in the bathroom and think or finish a song or wait for my hair to dry a little.
When you’re ready, prepare hot water, you can boil it in a kettle, or a pot, or stick it in the microwave. Pick your favorite tea, though I’d caution against caffeinated tea if it’s late at night, and let the tea bag, or tea case soak until the tea is the way you like it.
Drink your tea in a happy comfortable spot, away from harsh news or loud tv shows. Feel the warm tea fill you inside and imagine it filling you up with happy thoughts and just a liquid hug on the inside.
You are special. You are worth life and happiness. You deserve to be loved and cared for. You are allowed to be sad and unhappy, but you’re also allowed to let that shit go and be happy. You don’t have to stay sad to prove to people that you’re alive.
