book 1

This is one of my absolute favourite shots of the Krew in the whole show because it just proves how fucking dorky they all are. They totally choreographed this whole thing, waiting for Korra to sass Tarrlok until he storms off and then march into frame like her merry men and strike a pose, perfectly framed behind their commander and chief.

I could watch a whole book of the krew just doing this sort of dorky shit.

Here’s the thing tho- we all tend to picture Bella’s aesthetic/personal happy place as Forks. That she’s this quiet forest dweller that loves musty old books and blankets and cozy spaces. That’s not Bella. That’s the atmosphere that Bella was forced into. When we picture Bella, we should be seeing warm, lively places. She thrives in sunny settings like Phoenix, Jacksonville, and Isle Esme. She’s not all mossy and chilly, she was just in such an environment because she was forced to be. (First by having to live with Charlie, then to accommodate the Cullens’ needs for secrecy.) She’s a desert dweller. She loves spaces full of life and color, she thrives in bright and beautiful places.

This may seem petty/unimportant, but aesthetic and personal taste are very important when it comes to writing a character. And SM was very clever in terms of showing us Bella’s. We fall for the trap of considering her to be one with Forks’s atmosphere, but it’s revealed that she’s happiest elsewhere. (”I would miss Phoenix”/”any cold, wet thing…”/”I detested Forks. I loved Phoenix.”)

And becoming immortal freed her from Forks. It freed her from being trapped in the Olympic Peninsula, it allowed her to travel anywhere at anytime. And I just think that’s really important in terms of her “happily ever after.”

BK: Maybe it started with Han and Luke dressed as stormtroopers in Star Wars, but I’ve always enjoyed seeing our good guys wearing bad guy clothes minus the headgear. We did it plenty on Avatar, and the trend continues here with Mako and Korra in chi-blocker uniforms. Designs by Il-Kwang Kim and Jin-Sun kim. Color by Sylvia Filcak-Blackwolf.

Jules,“ She said impulsively. "Can I stay?”
It was their code, the short version of a longer request: Stay and make me forget my nightmares. Stay and sleep next to me. Stay and chase the bad dreams away, the memories of blood, of dead parents, or Endarkend warriors with eyes like dead black coals.

Probably my favorite misconception about twilight saga is this idea that E and B are like… all over each other/desperately in love right from the start. That they’re all like “ooh Edward, we are soulmate…. dont leave me…” “I’m… too dangerous.”

When in reality they just….give each other shit…,, for like the entire first ¾ of the book???? And even after that they express love by CONSTANTLY teasing one another????

Like I don’t know how it came across that they’re this mushy cringe-worthy overdramatic couple when right from the start all they ever fuckin do is be little shits to each other and then have moments of actual affection. And if you ask me, that sounds like a pretty damn healthy relationship.

“In a way, it’s nice to know that there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame when things go wrong. For instance, when you’re walking away from a bus that’s just been attacked by monster hags and blown up by lightning, and it’s raining on top of everything else, most people might think that’s just really bad luck; when you’re a half-blood, you understand that some devine force is really trying to mess up your day.”
