Imagine asking Gandalf to make it snow.

You delicately perched yourself on the ground, resting against a fallen tree and wrapping your thick winter coat around you. You picked at the brown grass below you, ripping up a few pieces and throwing them down in frustration. You looked out over the bland colored landscape. If you were back home in the Shire, it surely would have snowed by now. It was the dead of winter! Thoughts of your cozy hobbit hole drifted into your mind.

The Girl in the River

This is for @princess-of-erebor1992 ‘s Hobbit Challenge. I didn’t actually use my favorite Hobbit character as that would have been cheating. (I already wrote a fic with the prompt for Thorin.)

Original Prompt: Take your favorite Hobbit character. Any favorite character. Write from their point of view their reaction to a stranger falling into Middle Earth. The stranger can literally fall, randomly appear…your choice. Your story should be less than 500 words so it’s easier for me to read.

Warnings: awkward fluff

Chosen Character: Bofur

Bofur was washing his extra tunic in the river, whistling to himself. The journey had been long and difficult so far, but Bofur tried his best to keep a positive outlook on life. It wouldn’t do any good to let the circumstances get him down. So, he kept up his music and joking around and he whistled whenever he had a moment alone, like now. Although, he wasn’t alone for long.

He heard the scream first, then he felt the cool water of the river splashing his face, his lucky hat and his dry clothes. Blinking away the droplets of water, Bofur opened his eyes and stared. There, sitting in shock in the middle of the water, was a woman. For a moment, neither said anything. The woman’s eyes were as wide as saucers and Bofur was just as surprised. But finally, he spoke.

"Are ya alright, lass?“ She nodded and then, furrowing her brows, shook her head. “I-I don’t know,” she replied. “Ya seem ta be a tad indecisive,” Bofur joked, trying to lighten the mood and calm her down. She glared at him and he raised his hands in a gesture of peace. Since he was already wet, Bofur took a few steps into the river and offered a hand. For a second, the woman simply stared at it but then, shivering, she took it and let him help her.

Bofur blushed when he saw the woman’s outlandish clothing clinging to her and he averted his eyes as best he could. The woman looks down and seemed to realize what happened. Bofur cleared his throat, trying to diffuse the awkwardness and failing. “I-I’m Bofur, lass.” She crossed her arms over her chest, hiding herself a little so Bofur could actually look at her. “Y/N. Where am I?”

Bofur lead the young woman from the water before grabbing his coat and handing it to her. The blush that painted her cheeks was endearing and Bofur found himself staring. “I don’t want to get you coat wet,” she said. Bofur shrugged with a chuckle. “Don’t worry about it, lass. It’ll dry. Besides, the rest of me is already wet.” Giggling softly, she took the coat from him, their fingers brushing slightly. Bofur looked into Y/N’s (e/c) eyes and knew the rest of the journey was about to become very interesting.

You always considered yourself incredibly lucky. You had a caring family, with your three brothers Nori, Ori and Dori. You had many friends, including your best friends Fili and Bofur. And of course, your one. Kili Durin.

Kili and yourself had been courting for nine moons, after Kili was healed from the wounds from the Morgul Shaft. Your brothers had taken some convincing, but your lifetime friend Fili, accepted you into the family without hesitation. As did their uncle, who enveloped her in a welcoming hug and assured her that she had displayed her worth and golden heart, many timed over.

After rebuilding Erebor, dwarves traveled from distant Kingdoms, including the females of your species, in which many of whom had shown keen interest in your Prince. Yet, Kili reassured you that his love for you triumphed against all and that no dwarrow could compare to the beauty that radiated from you. And for this, you had only considered yourself even luckier.

Title: Yoga

Summary: Bofur gets curious when he sees you doing morning stretches from Yoga.  It gets interesting when he asks you to teach him.

You got up and stretched, seeing that the sun was just coming up over the horizon.  Now would be a great time to have some private time.  It was strange being in this world, no television, no phone, just nature…and a bunch of dwarves and a hobbit.  Sometimes, you just wanted some time alone to connect to your old life.

You used to eat a nice healthy breakfast, fruit and such, then shower…that wasn’t happening here.  Then do some Yoga…wait…yoga, you could do that here!  Excitedly, you got up and walked away from the camp, deciding that little clearing on the edge of camp would work perfectly.  And if not, at least you got a great view of sunrise.

You took a deep breath as you stretched your arms up, and let out a deep sigh.

Sometimes I get up early and even my soul is wet.
        — Pablo Neruda

You left your shelter during a lull in the deluge. The way back was  ridiculously short, though the path was treacherous and slippery with mud. Thorin held onto your hand throughout, clearly unwilling to take chances.

The moment you stepped into the cave he let go of you.

All eyes turned to you as you entered. You saw a ribald remark form on Kíli’s lips, only to die when Fíli elbowed him hard. A flash of resentment pierced you, but it was gone as swiftly as it had arrived. None of this was his fault.

Soon it became clear to everyone that something bad had happened between you and Thorin. By unspoken agreement you sat in different corners of the cave, and when you took off your wet clothes to wrap yourself in a blanket, Thorin looked the other way.

To your relief, everyone knew better than to comment. They probably thought it was a run of the mill lovers’ quarrel that would blow over soon. So they made sure to carry on as usual.

You had no idea how to behave. A part of you still hoped for a resolution, but you knew Thorin had to get there on his own. So you decided to behave as normally as you could, even though your heart sat in your chest like a lead weight.

Besides, regardless of your personal feelings, you had a duty to the others. You wouldn’t spoil their good time if you could help it. So you smiled at Bofur’s jokes, ate the food Bombur had prepared even though it tasted like ash in your mouth, and when you finally curled up on your bedroll, you were so exhausted that you slept like a log.

Imagine the company flirting with you but you’re actually interested in Bilbo

For @tellinghername :)

A/N: It’s a good thing i can’t write poetry, it doesn’t take much effort to make their poems awful! I sadly can’t take credit for Bilbo’s verse though, I found it on yahoo answers. I’m not sure who it belongs to but it’s from a poem called A Poem About A Girl, let me know if you know who wrote it so I can credit them :)

Having decided to join the Company on their quest, with a little encouragement from Gandalf, you now found yourself riding towards the lonely mountain with the 13 odd dwarves and the funny little hobbit, who you had a secret fancy for.

Your Song

Imagine being an introverted person until Bofur eventually cracks your façade and you bloom into the most cheerful, dazzling little thing he’s ever seen.

Imagine Bofur telling you that he loves that little speech defect everybody has always made fun of.

The wind wailed like a wild boar over the rocky peak which hid the company of dwarves, hobbit, and wizard. The night was dark despite the full moon and twinkling stars. The shadow of the journey ahead loomed over all within the small cave though many had managed to capture sleep on such a night.

The brooding king sat outside with arms crossed across his chain-mailed chest, his iron ax leaned beside the rock beside him. His words had made the night darker as he carried the greatest burden of them all and would not let them forget it. Those within were gladdened thus that he had chosen to sit in the moonlight on watch leaving them to their slumber, though not all had closed their eyes.

Thorin, Balin, Fili, Kili, Ori, Gloin and Dwalin were travelling back from Dale after discussing business plans with Bard and helping a while with the rebuilding of the town. They’d only been away from Erebor about a week but they were extremely happy to be getting back, the openness of human towns just didn’t suit Dwarves.

Imagine Bofur helping you when you get injured

Drabble for: anon

Original request: “Could you write a Bofur x reader fic where the reader (dwarf) is apart of the company and get injured after some orcs attack them. Bofur notices she’s hurt and insist on helping her. They then confess there love and blah blah then hair braiding :3 fluffy fluff fluff please. TIA”

Pairing: Bofur x Reader

Word count: 1423

A/N: Some of this might seem rushed, sorry. I’m not sure if I got the braiding bit right but I hope you like it anyway ^.^

“I am fine, Gandalf, really. It’s nothing,” you told the old wizard, struggling to hide your grimace as you lowered yourself to a fallen branch on ground. Gandalf scoffed and walked off, not believing you for a second but you being too stubborn to allow him to help.

When he was gone, you sighed in relief. It felt great to relieve your ankle from the pressure and you finally got to rest your wrist. You inspected your injuries and diagnosed that you had only sprained your wrist. It would heal soon enough. You had gained the injury when an orc pack attacked you during the night. You had sprained your wrist when an orc grabbed hold of it just as you were about to strike him with your sword, and almost crushed your bone. The injury on your ankle was from when you fell to the ground in pain, and the orc stomped down on it. Looking around so no one would notice, you brought your arm up to your mouth so you could bite on that instead of screaming.

'Imagine visiting the dwarves again after you decided to leave reclaimed Erebor and having one of them ask you to stay with him'

ramblewriting || Continuation of this drabble.

The last leg of your journey back to Erebor had been the longest; all of you had been eager to reach your destination at last, putting the most road behind you than any other day. Your feet were sore and your back and shoulders had ached under your gear, but you had finally made it and that alone filled you with vigour.

Currently you sat in Dale, and from your high vantage point in the city you could see the mountain and its impressive front gate with its towering dwarven guards hewn from the stone. It had been six months since you’d laid eyes on it, and seeing it flourishing, and knowing your dearest friends waited inside, brought the sting of tears both joyful and nostalgic.

I feel like Bilbo would try to court Thorin with flowers.

So whenever he felt too close to telling Thorin how he felt, Bilbo would just go around and hand him a daisy or a daffodils and when Thorin looked confused he would give a crappy excuse like “did you know smelling a flower makes you feel better? Yes-yes, it’s true! They stimulate something on your brain that gives you happy thoughts and therefore makes you happy!”.

In reality, Bilbo has no idea if that is true but Thorin would smile and actually act as if it worked so Bilbo would smile back and they would stare at each other until Kili and Fili made fun of them or either Bofur or Dwalin wanted to spend time with their best friend.

And to be completely honest, it wasn’t the flowers that would make Thorin happy, but the fact that Bilbo had given him something because he thought of him.
