The parting shot wasn’t a gunshot.
It was their team’s final farewell.
I almost never cry, but this cracked me.
Jemma crying. Daisy crying. Bobbi crying. Hunter crying. Mack crying. Hunter and Bobbi holding hands. A bullet to the face would be less painful.
But here’s to the duo who made me laugh with their bickering. Here’s to the duo whose “don’t die out there’s” made my heart sing. Here’s to the duo who earned my respect with their consistent kickbuttery. Here’s to the duo who was dysfunctional and broken and scarred and imperfect - but even through all their problems, they stuck together.
Here’s to Hunter’s sarcasm and Bobbi’s wit, to his Brit and her blonde. Here’s to the quick glances, the longing looks, the quiet hand-holding, the stolen kisses. Here’s to the merc and here’s to the Mockingbird. Thank you for everything. You will be missed.
Jemma seeing Hunter with Bobbi. Can we talk about what a wonderful parallel this is? Bobbi took a bullet for a Hunter. She was ready to die for the man she loves and now she’s lying on a hospital bed with Hunter by her side. Just imagine the havoc that wreaks on Jemma’s emotions as she flashes back to when Fitz was lying on a hospital bed because he was ready to die for her. Everything that she’s been suppressing and controlling and not thinking about for the past year comes crashing to the surface. And now Fitz is about to leave to go into battle with Inhumans. These are people with dangerous powers and there’s a very real possibility that he won’t come back. She can’t let him leave without trying to tell him how she feels. She can’t be content with just being friends anymore when they could end up like Bobbi and Lance. So much love between them yet even more regrets.
And then he comes back and he’s okay. But they have to deal with the fallout of the battle, and Coulson had his hand chopped off, and there’s a million things to do and no time to talk. Hopefully, Fitz and Jemma were among those that Andrew evaluated because lord knows those two need to talk to a therapist. Jemma especially.
Days pass, possibly a couple of weeks, and SHIELD is getting on its feet again. But Fitz still hasn’t made good on that promise of a talk and Jemma is getting impatient and a bit irritated at his babbling about dinner. But then he does it. He finally asks her on a date and Jemma Simmons is about to go on a date with her best friend. And…sigh…Can we just pretend the episode ended here? We could have had all the good things.
I still believe we’ll have good things, the road will just be a whole lot more bumpy.
Okay but imagine, Jemma sees Bobbi and Hunter and she sees the level of love there. Bobbi took a bullet for him, completely aware that she may die and was fully prepared. Jemma then turns and sees Fitz knowing that he did the same thing. She’s overwhelmed with the realization of things unsaid. And she comes to terms with something she’s finally realized.
