The Blackthorns and their historical counterparts

Tiberius Claudius Nero was a roman emperor, son of Livia Drusilla and stepson of Octavian Augustus. He was one of rome’s greatest general, but he came to be remembered as a dark, reclusive and melancholic ruler who never really desired to be emperor, Pliny the Elder called him “Tristissimus Hominum”, the gloomiest man.
