The bluebirds are working hard feeding their clutch. They must make, I don’t know, HUNDREDS, if not more, trips a day with bugs for the hungry babies. I’m glad to see they’re using one of the new boxes we built this past fall.
Yes, indeed. We were lucky enough to have a few cooler days to be able to germinate some lettuce in the greenhouse, and get it in the ground before the heat took over. We grow many varieties - all equally delicious. The bottom photo is of some baby arugula which is directly seeded into the beds. It basically grows into a wonderful, peppery arugula forest in not much time at all! We have been sampling some older arugula in salads this week, and will have it at market in the coming weeks. After so much squash, tomatoes and other summer crops, it’s refreshing to have some greens back in the mix!
