blue brown pigment

HEY, YOU BROWN-EYED PEOPLE. This post is for you.

If you ever feel like you dislike your eye color (or wish you had a different one), here’s some things to remember:

  1. YA’LL BITCHES WERE HERE FIRST. All humans originally had brown eyes. Genetic mutation brought along the other colors
  2. GIRLS WITH BROWN EYES, THERE’S A PRETTY JAMMIN’ SONG WRITTEN ABOUT YOU BY VAN MORRISON
  3. If your eyes are light brown, they change to GOLD when the sun hits them. That’s really flippin’ cool if you ask me
  4. If your eyes are dark brown, they are rich, deep, and even mysterious. Not only that- People with eyes that are so dark brown, they sometimes appear black have one of the rarest eye colors!!
  5. Brown eyes have BLUE underneath the brown pigment. Dude. You have a secret undercover color. IN YOUR EYES.
  6. When someone ~loves~ you, they start noticing how beautiful/handsome brown eyes are :)
  7. Disney workers held a “Hot Man” meeting, where about 30 female employees were asked to imagine the most attractive male they could think of, and the women were /very specific/ about what they liked and what they didn’t like. Guess what this meeting was for? The character design of Flynn Rider. Guess what color his eyes are? That’s right, BROWN
Easy "Blue Brown" Cat-Eye

In honor of some recent birthday hauls, I decided to throw some items together for an impromptu look.

The items in question:

Clockwise from top: Eylure “Girls Aloud” Nicola lashes, MAC Ricepaper, Coastal Scents Black Pointed Crease Brush, Coastal Scents Round Contour Brush, Coastal Scents Deluxe Sable Shader, MAC Blue Brown Pigment.

Step 1: With the shader brush, pack Blue Brown pigment onto the lids. If you are using pigment brands other than MAC, you may want to apply a primer first or they will not stick well or smooth out evenly. Regardless, don’t sweep color on if you want more intensity. Pack it in firm patting motions.

Step 2: With the soft round contour brush, smooth out the edges of the pigment and blend it into the skin evenly.

Step 3: With the tiny pointed crease brush, apply more pigment to the lower lids, sweeping all the way to the inner corners, leaving just the insides bare.

Step 4: Sweep MAC Ricepaper shadow over the inner corners to brighten them, and also along the outer edges of Blue Brown, to blend out the color more.

Step 5: Here’s the fun part. Apply the wispy flared lashes to your lids after trimming them to fit your eye. These will give a very cat-like, elongated eye, and are much more dramatic than I’d imagined. Probably not all that appropriate for day.

Then apply a metallic brown or black liner as necessary, to conceal the lash band.

Another look at the lashes.

And the Final Look Again:

Wear with:

  • Soft nude lips, matte blush.

TIPS IF YOU DON’T HAVE MAC BLUE BROWN PIGMENT:

  • Dunk your brush into a shimmery shade of your choice and then rub it around in a pigmented matte red-brown shadow. Pack and blend onto the back of your hand to check if they fuse well together before using that combination for your lids.

TIPS IF YOU DON’T HAVE WISPY FLARED LASHES:

  • Use a black liner and wing it outwards in a flick. This also makes the look more “school-” or “work-appropriate”.

P.S. If you want reviews on any of the items above, drop me a message.
