blind visions

Life from the perspective of colour blind people

Deuteranomalia: This is caused by reduced sensitivity to green light. Deutan color vision deficiencies are by far the most common forms of color blindness. This subtype of red-green color blindness is found in about 6% of the male population, mostly in its mild form deuteranomaly.

Protanopia: Caused by a reduced sensitivity to red light due to either defective or a lack of long -wavelength cones (red cones). Some scientists estimate that being a protan is associated with a risk of a road accident equivalent to having a blood alcohol level of between 0.05 and 0.08 per cent.

Tritanopia:  People affected by tritan color blindness confuse blue with green and yellow with violet.  This is due to a defective short-wavelength cone (blue cone). Whilst  Protanopia and Deuteranomalia are significantly more common in men, tritanopia affects both sexes in equal amounts.

Monochromacy: Only around 0.00003% of the world’s population suffers from total color blindness, where everything is seen in black and white.

Online simulator shows you what it’s like to be legally blind

  • A new online simulator will show you what it’s like to walk through the world you already know — but as a legally blind person.
  • The way the simulator works is simple. You input an address or location, and the simulator transports you there using Google Street View.
  • You’ll see your surroundings through one of three filters: “cataracts,” “glaucoma” or “retinopathy,” all of which can be adjusted for severity. Read more (3/1/17 1:20 PM)

anonymous asked:

you said in your post about color blindness that the first two are more common in men is there a reason for that or..? I'm curious

(Anon is referring to this post) Yes there is a reason! Red-Green colour blindness has two subtypes; deuteranomalia and protanopia. Both of which are significantly more common in men, and this is all to do with genetics and how it is inherited.

We all have 23 pairs of chromosomes, half from each parent. You’ll notice, however the 23rd pair differs from the rest. This is beacause it determines whether the individual is male or female, so it is called the sex chromosome. Females have XX and males have XY.

You’ll notice the X chromosome is much larger than the Y chromosome and this is because in addition to carrying genes that determine sex, it also carries genes that code for non-sexual characteristics, including that for red-green colour blindness. Okay so now I’m going to assume you have a vague understanding of what a recessive/dominant allele is, if not, this page gives a pretty good explanation.

I’ve made a quick graphic to sum up the next part because it can be a bit confusing:

Crucially, the gene that causes red-green colour blindness (shown in red) is recessive, so females need two copies of the gene to express the trait & be colour blind. The probability of this is low because if a female has a dominant allele on her other X chromosome (white), that will be expressed instead and she will have full colour vision. For this reason, red-green colour blindness is not very common in women (present in less than 0.5% of white women).

However, since men have the XY chromosome pair and not XX like females, if they have the colour blind gene on their only X chromosome, it will be expressed anyway. There is no corresponding dominant allele to override it. As a result, it is much more likely for a male to be colour blind (seen in 6-8% of white males).

This explanation became a hell of a lot longer than I expected but I hope this makes sense, genetics can be confusing af so I tried to break it down as much as possible. Other X linked traits include haemophilia (where blood can’t clot properly), and baldness.

10 things for those writing about people who are blind/have low vision...

So…finishing up my portfolio and I just thought I’d share a few things:

1. Person first language: people who are blind/ people who have low vision/ people who are visually impaired.

2. It’s a cane… not a stick

Side note: Please have your characters be safe travelers and use canes or guides some of the time, not just super powers all of the time. It’s hard enough for some young kids to use their canes without comparing themselves to Kanan Jarrus or Daredevil…

3.You don’t get super senses… but maybe you become more aware of what you’re sensing and differentiating what you’re sensing

4. As far as I’m aware and according to people I’ve talked to…touching faces is awkward and not effective

5. People who are congenitally blind may not turn to look at who’s talking because it is a learned skill that may need to be explicitly taught to them. However, people who become blind/lose their vision later in life may still turn to face who’s talking or face things that they are focusing on regardless of whether they can see it

6. Some people turn their heads at angles or appear to be looking away from you because they only have vision in that part of their eye that’s currently facing you. They can’t see you if they look straight on.

7. When you can see, you learn things whole-to-part. You, who are sighted, see a house, you think house. Then you learn door, window, roof, chimney, shutters etc. If you can’t see, you learn part-to-whole, and you need to rely on touch/hearing/smell/taste (when appropriate) to form a concept of something you might learn like this: door, smell of home, window glass, window frame, brick of a chimney, panels on side of the house etc. But then putting in all together as a house is difficult to conceptualize if you’re going off random pieces of the puzzle. You may need a tactile model or something to fill in the gaps if it’s something you’ve never seen and can’t touch in its entirety.

8. Cane stuff: Not everyone taps their cane when they use it. Most that I’ve been with don’t or if they do, they do not use it all the time. Think about it. You miss a lot of tactile feedback and there’s a greater risk of missing things to trip on. There are three types of formal cane techniques: two-point touch (the classic tapping side to side), constant contact, and verification technique. The first two the cane is held at the center of the body and the person moves it from side to side wide enough just so that it goes past their hips. As they move it to one side, their opposite foot steps forward. This gives someone the most protection when moving. Verification technique is when the person holds the cane low in their non-dominant hand and uses constant contact as they see possible obstacles/terrain changes in their path.

9. Counting steps is a myth. People don’t take even steps generally. Sometimes it’s easy to count doors if it’s a small number. But if you’re at school and you have to travel across the building, are you really going to count 20 doors? What if you bump into something and lose count? You’d have to start all over. Most people create landmarks for locations. It could be something like the door with the only bulletin board in the hallway. Or the door with the water fountain next to it. Or the door that is one door to the left directly across  from the water fountain. Another thing here, is that you can kind of feel when you’re getting close to somewhere you’ve traveled to before. Like when you’re driving home and you feel like it’s been a while and your turn should be here, when suddenly the turn is here! That’s called time-distance estimation.

10. Most people are not totally blind. Only 2% of the population is visually impaired and only 2% of the population that is visually impaired is totally blind no light perception. This means that most people who are blind/visually impaired/have low vision can see something, and everyone is different and reacts different to their visual impairment and how they use the vision they have.

This got long and slightly ranty, which was an accident… but I hope someone finds it useful. And now that I have this off my chest, remember creative liberty is a thing :)

Being stuck at the hotel during a snowstorm, having nothing to do except looking at each other’s faces, Harry’s bored out of his mind. So, while you watch some stupid tv show, he’s lying on his tummy, scrolling through his phone and you’re lying on him, cheek smushed against his bum, cause it’s why not? Even though the heating is on, the view of the city covered in white fluffy snow on your window is giving you chills and you yearn to be close to him but he’s too focused on his damn phone to pay attention to you.

Tired of the silly TV show and of being ignored in order for him to scroll aimlessly through social media, even though he’s never posting anything, you sigh, moving your head to look up at him, your cheek smushed to his bum as you look at the back of his head. His hair is messy, curling at the ends and with no sunglasses to hold it back, you can truly appreciate just how long his hair has become over the past few months, his sweats are clinging to his long legs and the long sleeved t-shirt make his broad shoulders look even wider with the white fabric straining against them.

He looks good and warm and so cozy that all you want is to snuggle up to him and be close, share languid kisses that make your tummy flutter with butterflies and your toes curl when he presses closer. But he’s on his phone. And, even though your hand is pressing to his back, scratching lightly over his shirt and you’re very much resting against him, he shows no signs of letting go of the small piece of technology he holds so dearly in his hands any time soon.

You’ve tried everything already - calling his name, to which he only gave you a mumbled “hum?” and when you continued to speak, you were left with no response from him; you’ve tried pinching his sides but the boy has a brain of steel and when he’s invested in something like he is on his phone, it’s hard to break him away from it. You’ve tried turning up the volume on the TV to see if the movie playing in it would catch his attention and make him move you up to him for a cuddle while you both watch it but not even then had you managed to catch his eye and you were sick of it.

neverland is something about us.

you love dialogue. classic movie manuscript soul, you lace your lips with elegance. you dance with passion and exhale with a lightness that brings spring to her knees. you hate human sheep’s philosophy, you’re terrified to be a wolf– lately the moon has been your tattoo. we listen to body language, we have been lied to on several occasions. how do you want to be admired? how deep are your thoughts? you are not bound to the earth, a red airy balloon waiting by venus, you lavish in pleasantries, but only if it’s done right. the rare definition of aesthetic, if it’s pretty enough to say, then it’s beautiful enough to be heard by you. how far would you go to regain your wings? angel thoughts. you’re a meteorological phenomenon, the one where rain falls in one spot. the sad parts of you scattered all over your tears, we love them until our hearts tear. where do you keep love? in the back pocket of a lucky guy, your version of ride or die– I’ll keep poetry close, but I’ll always keep your lips skin distance kind of love. you do it for fun, but you also do it because nothing is new under the sun. you love dialogue, our friendship in three words. you used to see your old lover within my poetry, a bit of my words will always belong to you. we may age, our skin will wrinkle some day, our hair will be grey, our vision will blind us, our bones will rattle, but this soul, my version of poetic justice buried into a rose, stained by blood into every fucking petal, inject my misery loves company into the damn thorns– will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful? age is nature’s brilliant plan to keep us in check. I love my youth, I love the fire in my eyes, the passion that keeps us from going too far– the thing about being this young is nothing is too dumb. no amount of hate will keep us from growth. you love lengthy prose poetry and I love that you read with intent to kill hearts until beating sounds like getting your first kiss every second of everyday– over and over and over again, until our smile matches the adrenaline, until the thorns prick a thousand lovers, until the last petal wilts from the lack of oxygen, until our lungs heave itself, it is a conversation of black holes and stars, I am stranded on mars and most days it’s unlivable, but these poems, my dialogue with you is a great way to understand the mystery of the universe.

You know, I would really like for subtitles to be programmed differently in an accessible way. Like, instead of just being a visual element on the screen, I’d like if they were programmed as a seperate overlaying text box on top of the screen so that if you were using a screen-reader and/or a braille display, you could just put the voiceover curser over the part of the screen that has the subtitle text and read what the subtitles say.

I don’t know a thing about programming or how subtitles work currently but I know they don’t work like that, as I have never been able to read subtitles with my screen reader thus far.

Accessible subtitles would be so fantastic to me, honestly. For anime fans, we could watch the subbed shows instead of having to wait for the dubs to come out and could watch subbed shows that never get dubs, and we could watch films in other languages as long as they have subtitles, and it could help give deafblind viewers slightly better access to videos that don’t have transcripts.

I realize this would only work online and not on TV, but it would still be pretty darn useful. I want accessible captions.

Peter woke up with the worst headache in the world and had no idea where he was waking up too. The city sirens rang in the background and the cool lights shined and blinded his vision. He groaned and tried to get up, but a sharp pain stopped him in the stomach. It wasn’t until he felt his whole body ache did he notice that there was a pair of cold, delicate hands hovering over his stomach did he notice that someone else was with him. He tried to get up from the floor, but the hands laid a wet tissue that stung his cuts.

“Oh, what are you doing to me?” Peter complained as he fully came through. He looked at the kind face that tended to his wounds. He noticed that his costume shirt was off, mainly to tend to the wounds on his stomach, but it seems his savior has kept on his face mask. The lady looked up at him and smiled. She looked about the same age as Peter, but she had the kindest and most playful eyes he has ever witnessed. “Looks like Spiderman has gotten in a big boy fight, hasn’t he?” The girl teased as she took out a large bandage for one of the scrapes on his body. Peter smirked under the mask.

Deaf in Hearing world, especially at a gathering, feel isolated due to lack of communication. Barely anyone signs… people talking over each other (if those can lipreading/have residual hearing). Deaf totally get the isolation.

DeafBlind in Deaf world? Feel isolated, due to lack of communication. Barely anyone is WILLING to use Tactile to communicate with us. If we’re lucky we will have one-two people to communicate with. It’s the same people.

To both? It still takes ‘efforts’ to communicate with 'us’. Regardless if it’s paper/pen, gesture, ASL, or TASL/PT*… Why is it that when we in Deaf event/area, us DB get left out? When Deaf advocate for inclusion, until it’s Deaf (and something else) … 'too much effort’ 'why must we try? We have our space and now THIS?’
I can understand it’s ‘something new’ when it comes to communication… Although, it’s still the same way of communicating, just different method! We are still using Sign Language except instead its called: Tactile Sign Language. Same thing, different way of doing it.

TASL = Tactile Sign Language. Us DeafBlind use touch-based sign language to communicate.
PT = ProTactile. More of an effective way for us DB to communicate. Though, this isn’t only address to DeafBlind, it’s to anyone! FOR Anyone.

Summary: Chris and Reader spend a lazy and funny Sunday together in their Californian house by the beach before he leaves to promote Gifted.
Words Count: 1.4k
Genre: Fluff!
Warnings: two innuendos, but it’s just an adorable moment with Chris.
Author’s Note: This little story is dedicated to @always-an-evans-addict. I do hope you will like it because I’ve had so much fun writing it, xo. Also, thank you so much to @punkrockhippiefromthefourties for being my beta and for giving me all these tips and suggestions. You saved my life. If this fic is good, it’s thanks of her.

The sun peeked in the bedroom window, illuminating your hair like a fiery halo, and so slowly, you lifted your head from the pillow. Despite your grogginess, you looked out at the beach off in the distance as the sun’s vibrant rays sent a glossy, gold sheen all around the room and the sound of the rhythmic waves of the ocean brought a peaceful hymn to your ears.

Your eyelids closed again, and you rested back against your pillow, feeling Chris’ chest inches away from your body. You enjoyed the restful moment and hummed lightly as you remembered how much you lived for those quiet mornings with your husband by your side.

“Hi, sweetie,” Chris’ sleepy voice spoke behind you. He put a hand on your arm and you lazily turned around. “You look so beautiful in the morning.”

“You aren’t so bad yourself, Dorito,” you complimented, pecking his nose.

“I was actually talking to the sun,” he joked with a jovial smile of his, and you laughed heartily, tipping your head back.

Chris beamed at you, enjoying the melody of your laugh and he took the opportunity to climb on top of you. Yet, as he leaned into the kiss he chased every morning, you turned your head to the side and looked at the beach with this obvious smirk.

“Y/N, I didn’t ask to wake up to nothing.”

“Shut up,” you retorted and restrained your giggle.

“What?” He furrowed his brows, feigning anger, but he couldn’t hold the character.

“Shut up and kiss me.” You turned back to him, cupping his bearded cheek. You closed your eyes, melting when his lips captured yours and claimed them as his proudly.

    “Now, you don’t have ‘nothing’.”

“If I keep talking, can I have another?” Chris asked, raising an eyebrow and smiling.

“Depends on what you tell me,” you giggled as he moved to your ear and whispered a sweet nothing. “I need a shower, first and then breakfast in bed?”

“I’m going to work out quickly and take a shower after you.” He placed a loving peck on your forehead and swung his legs over the edge of the bed.

“It’s Sunday, Chris. You can’t lift weights.” You grabbed his arm and pulled him back with you.

“Of course I can do some push-ups,” he chuckled and you shot up in bed.

“It’s a lazy day. We don’t do anything, but laugh, chill and make out in our case.”

“It’s been a while since our last lazy Sunday. I completely forgot.”

“Oh, man… Poor you,” you faked a sob, wrapping your arms around his chest. “We need to fix this.”

“Uh, can I say hello to Dodger at least?”

That afternoon, you sat on the couch, book in hand with Chris’ head on your lap and he scratched on his sketchbook silently, almost too focused on his art. Your free fingers played with the locks of his light brown hair as he used this quiet time to come back to something he had missed doing.

After a few minutes using his pencil on the page filled with a beautiful depiction of nature, your husband put the sketchbook on the ground. He stretched his body over your lap, brushing your hip with his hand and he poked you lightly, earning your sweet giggle.

“I’ve always thought you were ‘only surprised’.” A mischievous smirk grew on his face as he sat up and turned his head to you. “You’ve always been ticklish, haven’t you?”

“I’m not,” you lied, trying to keep your concentration on the book.

“Oh, really?” He moved closer to you, pressing his body against you. “Because it doesn’t seem like that.”

“No, Chris.” You closed your book and finally met his playful gaze. “I know what you are thinking about, don’t do it.”

“Am I that obvious?” Chris inquired, inching towards you with a new mischievous grin.

“Christopher, we are not children. We are very serious grown people,” you countered, slowly standing from the couch and he scoffed.

“Doesn’t mean I can’t do that.” He enveloped his large hand around your wrist and yanked down. He pounced at you and immediately tickled your sides, reaching certain spots of your body that secretly made you laugh each time he had poked or caressed them with his hands.

You squirmed around before laughing uncontrollably as his fingers dug into your waist, making you laugh even harder. Tears of mirth threatened to spill as well as incomprehensible pleads flew out of your mouth underneath him as he kept torturing you so sweetly.

“CHR- CHRIS NO!” You gasped for air, shrieking. “PLEASE! I- I- CHRIS… CHRIS!”

He laughed as you kept on giggling like a maniac under the work of his fingers and he eventually gave you a break. Like nothing had happened, Chris smirked lightly and let you take this moment to catch your breath, sighing in relief.

You looked up at him with this glare and he leaned his head to the side, lovingly staring at you with this beautiful smile that had you melting instantly.

“This isn’t fair.” You rested on your elbows. “You are too strong.”

“They say that. You seem to like it usually.” He winked and you threw your head back, placing your hands on your forehead as you giggled again.

After leaving you in peace for a brief minute, Chris stared once more at your body with his famous smirk and he leaned in. He placed his hands on your neck and you dissolved into a pile of giggles as he tickled your skin down to your sides without a break.

“PLEASE CHRIS! I- I CAN’T H- HOLD IT” You tried to fight back, failing miserably because of your lack of strength.

“You say you aren’t ticklish, huh, sweetheart?”

Chris accompanied your joyful laugh, trying to hold your squirming figure and you turned your head to the side, seeing the opportunity to free yourself. You managed to grab the cushion next to you, smacking his head with it and he backed away, pretending to be shocked.

“This means war,” he warned with this light chuckle in the background.

    “Pillow fight, Evans!”

You rolled off the couch and ran upstairs to your bedroom with your husband running after you. He slammed the door shut behind him and grabbed his feathery pillow, mimicking your swift movement.

    “Y/N-”

You jumped on the bed, smacking the pillow across his face and you laughed, daring him. Another hit and he didn’t even flinch as he joined you on the mattress. Your pillows used as hammers and shields at the same time, you hit each other and the feathers flying around you blinded your vision whilst you could only hear Chris’ constant giggles as he hit your belly with a new full pillow that spewed its content everywhere.

You threw another pillow at him, but he smashed his fist into it and dropped it down, having your jaw dropping as you looked at the feathers on the bed and everything around covered by a white shin of softness.

Taking advantage, Chris sneaked behind you, folding his strong arms around your waist and he lifted you up, spinning you around. Your head fell backward on his shoulder as you laughed and he kissed your neck, nuzzling his face in the crook.

“Chris! Put me down… I’m- I’m going to throw up if you-”

“All right,” he laughed, the same sound you found so adorable.

Chris eventually let you down after more pleads and you let yourself fall on the mattress, lying down. He joined almost too enthusiastically as the bed collapsed under both your weight and you squealed. You looked at him with wide eyes until you burst out into laughter again, putting a hand on your chest and he mimicked famously.

“That bed was too old anyways,” you gasped, wiping away the tears.

“Yeah, it’s only the third in four months.”

    “We’re filthy.”

“I can’t get enough of your laugh,” he whispered, calming down and he caressed your cheek. “I love you.” His eyes darted from your lips to your eyes, then your mouth again.

“I love you too, honey.” You rolled over to climb on top him and attached your lips sweetly together

“I’ve missed chilling with you.” Chris passed his fingers through your hair and you put your chin on his chest, looking at him.

    “Me, too.”

    “Well, that was disappointing.”

You and Newt stare down at the broken vase. Glass and water mix over the wooden floor and someone shouts from downstairs.

    “I’ll get the broom.”

Newt steps back and you can already see the questions pestering him and thinning his confidence.

“I’m sure she’d say yes, Newt. You just have to ask.”

“I know, I know.” There’s the pacing you expected, complete with one finger pressed against his lips whenever he stops speaking. “I just need to find the right time.”

You toss the dust pan onto the ground, where it lands with a crunch on some vagrant piece of glass. “There’s never going to be a ‘right time.’”

Newt rolls his eyes at the quote gestures you make around his words. “I don’t want it to come from nowhere.”

“What if it comes from your heart?” You tease.

He scowls. “Funny. Here I thought I asked for love advice, not bad jokes.”

The glass scratches the ground on its way into the pan. “It’s a dual package. The jokes come free of charge.”

“What if I ask her on a roof? At sunset?”

“A bit cliché, don’t you think?”

“Well I don’t hear you coming up with any ideas.”

You sigh. Snappy Newt is not your favorite Newt to deal with. “Tina likes you, Newt. I promise. You could ask her out in a dumpster as a phoenix bursts into ashes around you both and she’d still say yes.”

“What about with a picnic? Women like those.”

You sweep the final pieces of glass into the dust pan. “If you really want help, you need to calm down. I’ll come up with something.”

Newt runs a hand over his face. “I’m going to check on the occamies.”

“No worries, I’ll just finish mopping up this mess myself.”

He turns back to you and shakes his head. “Let me help.”

The two of you finish drying off the floor as best you can. Sitting across from one another, you look at the final piece of the mess: the dropped lily, pure petals drooping under the water they soaked up during the clean-up. Newt leans over and grabs it before falling back against the wall. He holds it up in front of him, spinning it in his hands, ignoring the water dripping onto his hands.

Knowing him he was off with Harry and Hermione but he should be getting his injuries looked at, i spotted the fiery red hair across the bridge with his 2 famous friends “Ron!” I shouted catching his attention, I jogged towards him, I rested my head on his chest, “love, are you okay?” he asked stroking my hair, “you should be inside” I whispered “all of you” I said turning to face Harry and Hermione “y/n, what happened to your head?” he asked grazing his thumb over the band-aid on my forehead “mild concussion” I mumbled, smiling weakly. He shook his head at me “alright, let’s go” he smiled taking my hand as we walked back to the school.

But now here we sat, one half of a whole, laying peacefully on the floor, the other half hovering over closely trying to imagine how terrible life could be now that his best friend is gone. I leaned my head on his shoulder, my arm wrapped around him, rubbing his arm “this is a nightmare” he sobbed trying to convince himself this wasn’t real, a tear fell from my eye I was watched the love of my life sit here heartbroken “I’m so sorry George” I whispered. He shook his head, drying his eyes “I shouldn’t have left him, this is all my fault” he cried “George, this isn’t your fault, if you were with him you would have died too” I said, shuttering at the thought. “It would’ve been better that way” he whispered,  my heart felt like it was stuck in my throat, hating myself because he thought that way “George, I love you, I can’t live without you, it’ll be okay” I sniffled, pressing my lips to his shoulder. “I love you too, I just miss him so much” he said dropping his head, the tears starting again, we sat there mourning over Fred and Percy wrapped in each other’s arms, both silently praying it was all a nightmare.

My heart stopped praying it wasn’t who I thought it was, I spotted George on the ground in tears, I slowly glanced over to see who it was, “Fred” I screamed dropping to the floor, holding my chest, the tears blinded my vision, I took deep breaths but it was like I couldn’t get enough air. It was like an elephant stomped on my chest, I wiped my eyes as I saw Ron standing next to me helping me up, I slowly walked over to his lifeless body, I threw myself onto him hoping I could hug him back to life “Fred, love, please, please wake up” I cried stroking his face. “Y/n, he’s gone” Molly whispered, hugging her husband “no, no he can’t be, Fred please, this is just a joke you’re just pulling a prank, it’s not funny anymore please baby wake up” I cried pushing his hair out of his face. I lay on his chest hugging him until finally I was pulled away by Ron while Arthur pulled George away, I latched onto George crying into him “he loved you so much y/n” George whispered “I didn’t get to tell him I loved him, one last time” I sobbed “he knew” he assured me “I’m so sorry George, he loved you more than anything, overtime we hung out he always had to tell me a story about you and him” I told him. We stood there comforting each other watching as Fred was carried away.

I begged him not to leave, he didn’t have to go to their side, he could’ve stayed, but he was scared, scared of what Voldemort would do to the ones he loved. I don’t know where he went or if it’s safe to write him, if his dad will get mad. “I don’t want to talk Harry” I shouted as I heard footsteps behind me “well Potter may not be of any help but I might be” the familiar voice said. I spun around seeing Draco, his hair fallen into his eyes, dirt all over his black suit and pale face “Draco” I breathed walking towards him, he pulled me into his arms holding me tightly “I thought i would never see you again” I cried, burying my head in his neck “you thought I would ever leave you? and without even saying good bye?” he asked heartbroken. “I thought your father-” I started, “my father is gone, mother kicked him out, then sent me to come find you” he whispered kissing my head “I love you y/n, so so much” he mumbled into my hair “I love you too” I whispered not ever wanting to let go.

Jaebum sat on his bed and untied his boots. He pulled off his jacket and undid the cuff links of his shirt, going through the simplistic motions of getting ready for bed as he did every night.

He wasn’t used to these feelings. He didn’t consider himself as very emotional, war tended to favour the more stoic man; someone who did not get shaken by death or get jerked around by feelings.

It took Obama less than a day to get the White House website up to code. Trump’s still isn’t.

    • Almost two weeks since Trump’s inauguration, the White House website may not be in compliance with federal rules governing website access for people with disabilities and non-English speakers.
    • Under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, federal websites and websites that receive federal funds are required to have accessibility features for blind and vision-impaired people.
    • And a Bill Clinton-era executive order requires federal websites to meet certain requirements for assisting people with limited English proficiency.
    • Kenneth Shiotani, a senior staff attorney for the National Disability Rights Network, pointed out the Trump administration’s failure to display accessibility features for people with disabilities.
    • The website also includes no option for Spanish translation.
    • In 2009, the Obama administration’s site featured both Spanish translation and accessibility features on inauguration day. Read more
