My artwork for whenidance’s awesome fic, The More You Give. :D It’s really great and very hot. A highly recommended fic y'all! ;) Also, thanks to a certain mischievous blue-skinned creature from outer space who pointed this fic out to me and encouraged me until I finished this piece. <3
Summary: Sci-fi AU in which Blaine Anderson wanders the halls of Dalton Academy, a safe haven created by his father after the events surrounding the Sadie Hawkins dance. Populated by student-machines, Dalton is an orderly place where everyone does exactly what Blaine wants … until Kurt Hummel (an actual real boy!) sneaks in to spy on the Warblers—which changes everything. Part gothic fairy tale and part sci-fi adventure, this is a story about adapting and surviving—and breaking free of the cage.
Drawn for the Blaine Big Bang! (Needless to say it’s a delightful work with multiple levels of thinky-thoughts in regards to both Kurt and Blaine and Dalton itself. And robots. The whole piece deftly weaves canon meta with science fiction and fantasy, combined with my favorite literary move of personal/quiet moments contrasted with the absurd. It was a privilege to work with sothinky on this project and I hope you all go read and review and enjoy!)
So I did some art! Specifically, I did art for the lovely idoltina for the Beyond Dapper 2013 Blaine Big Bang. Her fic is called Rewrite This Story and well… that’s all I’m going to divulge about it. ;) The first image is the full original digital painting that I did (high res should be available by clicking on it). I also created an ePub (sldo .mobi) using a cropped version of the art for the cover as well as a cover for the fanmix that idoltina put together to go with the fic, both of which can be downloaded/accessed from the link above.
Title: Terminal Velocity Author:blackmustache Artist:cazzblade Word Count: 25,450 Rating: PG-13 Characters/Pairings: Kurt/Blaine Warnings: None Summary: After a snowstorm hits New York, Kurt and Blaine meet for the first time when they end up stranded together in the airport waiting for flights out of town for the holidays. They bond over coffee and karaoke, and realise that perhaps their flight cancellation might have been the best thing to happen to either of them, ever. Notes: First of all thank you so much to mockingj91 and catchmelike for the beta, I really appreciate all of the time you put into it! And thank you to cazzblade for the gorgeous artwork to go with the fic :)
Title: A Stranger Heart Author: preciousmellow (lj)/andiheardeverything (tumblr) Artist: killerquinn Word Count: 31,542 Rating: R Characters: Kurt/Blaine, Rachel/OMC, OFCs Warnings: Discussions of homeless, illusions to drugs and alcohol, brief medical situations, OC death Summary: Living on the streets of New York isn’t easy for anyone, but for Blaine, it’s all he has, and all he thinks he deserves. Until Kurt comes into his life and sees passed the tattered gloves and worn guitar, and offers him something that Blaine’s never had: a chance. AN:For the Blaine Big Bang challenge. Huge, huge, huge thanks to my beta shandyall. I literally could not have done this without her. She was the best cheerleader and kept me going when I wanted to give up. She’s entirely the reason I’m posting this right now. Also a huge thanks to my artist for her amazing work and for everyone on tumblr who cheered for me and kept me going. You guys rock.
Title: Jitters Author: whatiknew Artist:pencilpushingenthusiast Betas: the-cimmerians, aspiringtoeloquence Word Count: 29,600 Rating: PG-13 Characters/Pairings: Blaine/Kurt. Blink and you’ll miss it references to past Blaine/Jeremiah, past Blaine/Sebastian, past Blaine/OMC. Santana, Tina, Rachel, Mike. Warnings: None Summary: Blaine Anderson gets up at 5am every day to serve coffee with Santana Lopez. And that is the easiest part of his day. As he starts his sophomore year at NYU, Blaine tries to navigate his inevitable conquering of Tisch while figuring out how to talk to the beautiful boy who’s started frequenting the coffee shop. There might be dragons involved. Disclaimer: All errors in the college theater casting process, the name “Jitters” and the color name “Electric Carrot” are my inventions. Everything you recognize belongs to someone else. I make no money from this and in fact spent quite a bit holing up in the coffee shop near my apartment when I was having issues writing.
A/N: Countless thanks to my betas, both those who agreed to it from the start (Cimm) and everyone I wrangled into it later (Jenny and Aud), as well as everyone who just dealt with my yelling at them during the writing process (Lauren and Murphy). This almost didn’t happen four different times and it’s completely different than the prompt I signed up with. Special thanks to Lucie for her accommodation and sadistic liking of my posts and Cimm, who talked me through the terror of writing the next thing after you’ve written The Thing and the anxiety that entails. CB, thank you for drawing something that made me excited to keep writing and going above and beyond with your interludes. And for not drawing Blaine’s ass smaller like you wanted to.
Author: Rachel Title: As Long As It Takes Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 27,880~ Summary: There was a common thread that held the entire world together, a singular thought that infiltrated most minds more often than not until it reached fruition. Everyone had someone that was out there in the world waiting for them, someone they were destined to spend the rest of their lives with, and Blaine Anderson was no exception. Meeting his soul mate was a moment he’d been dreaming of and imagining ever since he was old enough to know he had one. It was a moment that he anticipated replaying over and over again in his mind — that first moment when he’d known. No matter how much he’d thought about it, read about it, dreamed about it, nothing could have prepared him for the actual moment itself. Author’s Note: Thanks to slayerkitty for throwing this idea my way, whenidance for being my amazing beta, and animateglee for making such incredible art for it, which can be found throughout the story. Written for the Blaine Big Bang.
Title: The More You Give Word Count: ~54k Rating: NC-17 Characters/Pairings: Kurt/Blaine, Sugar, Rachel, minor St. Berry, other minor appearances from canon characters Warnings Sexual content – check individual warnings on each part. Age!kink, but both parties are over the age of 18. Summary: When Blaine Anderson gets a fresh start at McKinley High in 1997 thanks to his best friend Rachel Berry, her parents, Emma Pillsbury, and the group of misfits that would become the New Directions, the last thing he expects to gain from playing it straight and dating Quinn Fabray is a daughter at the age of sixteen. Fast forward to present day, where Blaine is raising Sugar as a single dad in the same sleepy town of Lima he grew up in. When Sugar is recruited at the beginning of her sophomore year by Will Schuester to join New Directions and falls deeply in love at first sight with one of the co-captains, Blaine isn’t sure what to think, especially since Kurt Hummel is quite out of her league, being three and a half years older and, well, gay.
Little did he realize how much Kurt would end up turning Blaine’s own life upside down in the year ahead – a story of Blaine’s struggles to find his true self as his daughter grows up herself and his personal journey to realize age is just a number.
Notes & links to the parts on LJ and AO3 at the masterpost, as well as my awesome art from the lovely & talented artsnletters! I’m gonna pass out now! :D
Fic: Hail To Whatever You Found in the Sunlight That Surrounds You (NC-17)
Word Count: 30 400
Characters/Pairings: Blaine/Kurt, Cooper, Mr. & Mrs. Anderson, Burt/Carole, minor OCs
Warnings: homophobia, mention of gaybashing and bullying, underage drinking
Summary: On the third of August in Blaine Anderson’s ninth year, something momentous happens: he sees a boy crying on the beach and decides to do something about it. What he gets in return is a best friend, a confidant, an ally to help him through the ups and downs. They spend one month together every summer. One perfect month until they are old enough to escape together. Eleven Augusts and the letters in between.
So, here it is, my oft whined about Blaine Big Bang fic.
Wonderful fanmix by tortugax/snapely can be found here, and she also made this gorgeous banner.
Title: Pawns, Bishops, and Castles Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 72,900~ Warning: very brief homophobic slurs Summary: Words were such a simple thing to Blaine Anderson. Of course, that was before he realized that just a few simple sentences could change everything. “Do you mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full.” Eleven words changed the course of his life, eleven words etched on his heart. Change will come as surely as the seasons and twice as fast. Author’s Note: Title taken from the song “Control” by Poe. Many thanks to dahlstrom for being such an amazing beta and helping me whip this into shape, pureklaination for the inspiration and constant cheerleading, and aelora for her support. Artwork by LJ user ~chamilet. I’ll be putting this on AO3 and S&C when I have the chance, but sadly today is not that day.
Summary: A Thelma and Louise Klaine AU with some serious liberties taken. Kurt convinces Blaine, his best friend, to take a break from his emotionally abusive husband and spend a weekend with him in the mountains of West Virginia. But when they stop for some drinks along the way, things take a horrific turn.
And then things start to get interesting.
Note: It is NOT necessary to watch Thelma and Louise in order to understand and (hopefully) enjoy this fic.
~EXPLICIT NON-CON in one scene (though there is now a non-explicit summary posted, should you wish to avoid this, with a link at the beginning of the chapter in question).
~Character death (non-Klaine)
~Emotional/mental abuse within a relationship (again, not Klaine)
~Violence, murder, use of firearms, armed robbery…let’s just say crime and violence in general
~Substance abuse (only cigarettes and alcohol, if that matters to you)
~Infidelity (but Kurt and Blaine do not cheat on each other. I want to make that very clear)
~Homophobic/sissyphobic language and behavior
~Reference to/discussion of suicide
~Klaine sexytimes (although that may be more of an enticement than a warning…)
I would like to extend all the love and thanks to my beta, Stut–ter, for being generally amazing, extremely flexible with her time and possessing an eagle’s eye for grammatical errors. Not to mention talking me off a ledge when I needed it. Without her this story wouldn't be nearly as tight or as nuanced (plus she encouraged me to expand the smut, so feel free to thank her for that).
And the artwork - can we just talk about the artwork, please? The very talented Volsura has created the most gorgeous and flawless artwork for this fic (as you can see above), and I am speechless in the face of its excellence. I strongly encourage you to send her lots of love and praise!
Summary: He’s sexy! He’s cute! He’s popular to boot! It’s Blaine Anderson’s first and only year as Head Cheerleader of the McKinley High School Cheerios, and he is going to make sure that it’s an excellent one. (A Bring It OnAU. We’re sorry.)
Contains:References to homophobia and gay-bashing, consensual sex under the influence of alcohol (both parties). Finn is present, but is not a major part of the fic.
Betas: As always, we have huge amounts of love for Tina, who whips us into shape every time. Thanks also go to Lissa, especially for the cheerleading help.
Author’s Notes: The ages of several characters have been changed to fit the story, because what is canon even. Thanks to oneflamingofor the cheerleading help. Also, we swear that this isn’t a 90’s AU, much as Blaine might wish it were.
This was inspired by a conversation between the two of us that essentially went like this:
*dawning looks of horror/glee* “HE’S POPULAR, TO BOOT.”
Signups for the 2014 Blaine Big Bang open on July 1st and posting begins on November 8th! Follow the Blaine Big Bang blog or track the tag “Blaine Big Bang” for updates. See the full schedule and rules on our blog.
Title: Stolen Bases, Stolen Hearts Author:unsung_song / jukeboxanderson Artist:batkonehat Word Count: 25,762 Rating: NC-17 Characters/Pairings: Kurt/Blaine, Mike/Tina, Sam/Mercedes, Wes/OFC, mentions of Santana/Brittany, Puck/Quinn, as well as past Blaine/Sebastian and Blaine/Eli; also includes Rachel, Will, Ryder, Jesse, and other canon and original characters Warnings: homophobia, including in the media; brief mention of character death Summary: Blaine Anderson, baseball’s next superstar, is loved by millions, but he’s secretly on the hunt for his soulmate. It doesn’t take long for that search to become public. Will he meet the mysterious Kurt Hummel before it’s too late? Notes: Written for Beyond Dapper’s Blaine Big Bang and prompted here on the Glee Kink Meme.
First off, thank you to the incredible women who run the Blaine Big Bang. It’s been a pleasure finally getting something in for this challenge.
I’d been wanting to write soulmate!fic for several months when I came across the prompt on the GKM. It fit perfectly because, after Blaine and Darren, baseball is my love. I planned it out, all the way down to him being in either Atlanta or Boston, the rivals of both New York teams. In the end Atlanta won because a. the stigma of being an out public figure in the South made for quite an interesting story, and b. I’m a huge Red Sox fan and it scared me to do that and ruin my love for both. A few weeks after I began plotting and writing, basketball player Jason Collins came out. I knew right away that this story was going to be even more special.
There IS mention of character death that's…well. Cory’s death changed a bit of the plot for me and in fact worked out in my favor.
Special thank yous go to my non-fandom friend Ashleigh, who deals with my obsessions and helps me work through everything, to Stuts for encouraging me to write when I didn’t want to write, and to Beth for stepping in late and creating the wonderful art for the story.
Disclaimer: None of the characters or teams involved in the story belong to me; they are properties of either Ryan Murphy or Major League Baseball.
Blaine’s life is turned upside down when a move forces him to leave the safe bubble he’s built for himself at Dalton Academy after being driven away from public school due to all the bullying. But things seem to start looking up when he meets Kurt, a recent graduate from his new school, and his friend Elliott through an LGBT* group in Columbus.
With the help of his friends being open about himself doesn’t feel quite as daunting anymore.
a/n: Big big thanks to Anna, who helped letting this idea take shape and come to live. Thank you and´all my love to Abbi@daltoneering the best beta(bean) I could ever ask for, without you I would still be stuck writing that one scene. And of course, my wonderful artist gleekmom, thank you for visualizing something I didn’t even think of. Thanks to Pace and Anna for hosting this, allowing so many amazing people to share their talent. Thank you to Amanda, Clou, Yas and everyone on twitter who helped with little tidbits and background information.
Thanks to the composers of the The Flash soundtrack because it makes badass background noise for writing. Thanks to the writers, creators and actors of glee who provided us with such lovely characters that still are a part of our daily lives even a year after the show ended.
And last but not least, thank you to my readers, because a year ago I never could have imagined participating in something like this.
Artist: tortugax Word Count: 29500 Characters/Pairings: Blaine/Kurt, background Brittany/Santana, Artie, Rachel, Puck, Jan/Liz, Emma, Cooper Warnings: ghosts/creepiness Summary: Blaine wants to get away from the city, so when friends ask him to accompany them to a haunted house in Upstate New York to film a documentary over spring break, he’s more than happy to oblige. He’s hoping for many chances to relax and take in the gorgeous surroundings between helping Artie with his film and participating in Brittany’s seances. Instead, he has to deal with power outages, washed out roads, no cell service, and the possibility that all of these events have been set up by the staff. The one bright spot is a very intriguing fellow guest named Kurt, who believes every story about the estate and its infamous otherwordly inhabitants. As Blaine gets closer to Kurt, he finds himself becoming a stalwart believer right along side him.
This is my entry for this summer’s Blaine Big Bang over at beyond_dapper. Many thanks for my lovely artist, snapley It was great working with you for the second year running! And also to Keri and Doris for the beta help. <3
The gorgeous art above was created by snapely, as well as an amazing mix, Keeping Company with Ghosts, which can be streamed here or downloaded here.
The trees are still naked, skeletal by the sides of the winding country road as Blaine drives the borrowed SUV further and further upstate. The temperature has been mild over the past week, but there are still random piles of dirty, half-melted snow here and there in the ditches and fields and amongst the trees.
Blaine slows to a crawl, heeding the signs as he navigates the car around a particularly treacherous bend in the road, Brittany flopping to one side in the backseat behind him. “That’s what those handles are for,” she says, and Artie heaves a sigh from the passenger seat and crosses his arms over his chest.
Blaine is tempted to remind him that it was his idea, after all, this trip, that he had reiterated over and over at increasing levels of enthusiasm and desperation that he needed to come up here to film his documentary project, and that he needed Blaine’s help. He couldn’t be left at the mercy of Brittany and her frighteningly absentminded driving, or to her nonsensical conversation, and please would Blaine save him from all of that. And Blaine had eventually caved, though he’d secretly wanted to from the start. The need to avoid the city and his brother’s pestering him to visit was at the forefront of his mind….
Masterpost can be found on my LJ here, or the story can be read at AO3.
First of all, wow. You all are awesome. Under the cut are 29 lovely stories grand totaling 1,140,000 words. No, there’s not an extra one in there. So, if you’ve been holding out, or you need something to read, feel free to comb through because there’s a variety of stories under the cut, encompassing plenty of genres!
If you missed out this year, be sure to join us next summer at Beyond Dapper for round three, and also, check back in a few weeks for our winter fic exchange if you’re not quite feeling up to 25,000 words. Thanks everyone for a great and (fairly) stress-free round :)
