blackout experiment

THE BLACKØUT - LYRICS

A dinosaur wonders why it still walks the earth, yeah
A meteor promises it’s not gonna hit, yeah
Earthquakes always happen when you’re in bed, Fred
The house shakes
Maybe it was something I said, Ned

Go easy on me
Easy on me, brother
Go easy on me
Easy on me now

When the lights go out
And you throw yourself about
In the darkness where you learn to see
When the lights go out
Don’t you ever doubt
The light that we can really be

Statues fall
Democracy’s flat on its back, Jack
We had it all
And what we had is not coming back, Zach
A big mouth says the people
They don’t wanna be free for free
A blackout
Is this an extinction event we see

Go easy on me
Easy on me, brother
Go easy on me
Easy on me now

When the lights go out
And you throw yourself about
In the darkness where you learn to see
When the lights go out
Don’t you ever doubt
The light that we can really be
When the lights go out
When the lights go out
When the lights go out
When the lights go out

Blackout, it’s clear
Who you are will appear
Blackout, no fear
So glad that you are all still here
Here

When the lights go out
When the lights go out
When the lights go out

When the lights go out
And you throw yourself about
In the darkness where you learn to see
When the lights go out
Don’t you ever doubt
The light that we can really be

When the lights go out
When the lights go out
When the lights go out
The lights

so, I was at the blackout video shoot. they did five takes of the song, and by the fifth time I was close enough to grab bono’s hand as he crowd-surfed. for my own memory - and because I still can’t believe this actually HAPPENED - I’ll put some screenshots below the cut… you were warned :) (I’m the one with the many armbands!)

Discord chat for black discussions

I wanna start or join a discord group meant specifically for black people to discus black issues in a more personal manner. It’s a great app to use because you can create however many chat’s and voice rooms as you want. Each Call can have a limited amount of people. And text channels can be named for specific prepossess and muted so you’re not bombarded with notifications. Roles can also be set to minimize trolling and toxic behavior. The app has a lot of cool features and I think it could be a wonderful way to share ideas and reading in a safe and moderated place. It could also be a place to organize and keep up with protests as they happen. If anyone is interested in getting it started please let me know.

anonymous asked:

Is it normal to not 100% black out when an alter fronts? What does it feel like when someone does fully black out? Thank you :)

Yes, that’s very normal. Many individuals with DID are aware of at least some of what their alters do while present or are able to remember some of what their alters did once they’ve left. The degree to which this occurs varies between systems, but most don’t experience full blackouts every time that an alter fronts.

As for what it feels like to black out, I’ll leave that for another mod to answer. I’ve never actually been aware of time loss myself! For me, it’s more a matter of simply not having a memory. I never feel like there’s been a skip in time or like I’ve missed anything, my memory is just full of holes. It makes it very hard to pinpoint what amnesia is due to alters and what is just my memory sucking, and it can get pretty denial inducing sometimes. On the other hand, it just goes to show all the different ways that DID can present!

Take care,

Katherine of Those Interrupted

It’s been a while since I had an actual blackout, but the way I’ve experienced them before was much like going to sleep at night. You never really remember exactly when you fell asleep, and you have no idea how much time you’ve slept until you look at the clock. You might have a vague idea that a lot or a little time has passed but nothing solid without external evidence, and the instinctive thing to do is to find that evidence to figure out how long you’ve been asleep for.

When it comes to remembering what happened during said blackout, that tends to vary. Maybe you only get a little bit of information if you try to focus on certain things, like trying to remember a dream you had. Maybe you can’t remember anything at all and the only clues you have are things that have physically changed around you, chat logs on the computer, or loved ones telling you about something you did. Maybe later you find yourself remembering a little bit more and more about what happened without trying as much. Or an alter winds up pitching in and just telling you what went down.

It’s a bit hard to explain, especially when I haven’t done it for so long! But hopefully that’s somewhat helpful.
