Elijah: hey hey! You feel sad.. Or look sad.. Hey don't be sad!! Peep with me! It's fun! Or dance, that's a lot of fun too!! Why are you all alone? Are you lost??

“Listen kid, I don´t peep….or dance. It’s not my thing”.

“I am not lost, I have lived here for almost as long as i have been alive…..”

“I’m alone because I want to. The villagers don’t come near this place anymore either… and if you know what’s best for you kid

“Kids are more vulnerable”

what's wrong with "positive" stereotypes?

Because they are still stereotypes.  They still place people of color, or whatever group the stereotypes are about as a monolith.  For instance, saying “Asians are good at math,” may seem positive but “Asian” represents a large group of different cultures and people.  Those not good/interested at math could feel pressured to either be good at it even if they hate it or feel ostracized for not living up to this stereotype.

Podfic Meme - Answers

Hey friends! I posted a podfic meme over here and decided to answer the questions all in the same post. (Well, almost.)

3 -  Favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)

I have a soft spot for second person POV. From what I’ve seen around, most people hate it, as it reminds them of self-insert, but I’ve never seen it that way. 2nd person POV comes around so infrequently that it’s always a nice treat when I do encounter it.

4 - What are some themes you love to record?

FAKE. DATING. Do not even play with me. Fake marriage/dating is the one thing that I could podfic for the rest of forever. Gimme all of the casual touches, the heated glances, the moments when each person thinks they other doesn’t love them. HNNNNNNNNNGH. BEST. ABSOLUTE BEST.

5 - What inspires you to podfic?

Part of why I podfic is because I’m not a writer. So when I find a fic where the author has written the characters in a way I love, I need to tell the world about it. But more than that, I find storytelling a powerful medium. It’s a way for people to connect and share a unique experience. Think of the way we all bonded over Harry Potter!

7 - What are some new things you want to try in your podfics? (Recording explicit fics, adding music/effects, recording a story over 10K, etc.)

I’m trying my hand at recording longer podfics. I’m signed up for Podfic Big Bang and am trying to finish a story that’s 62K. It’ll be a new personal record…if I finish. /o\

8 - Is there a character you love to voice? One whose voice you find difficult to perform?

I love performing ensemble, comedy fics. I like it when everyone plays off of everyone else, in the most dramatic way possible. Specifically, I’m into characters like Troy & Abed (Community) and Rosa, Amy, & Gina (Brookyln Nine Nine). I find it difficult to voice deadpan characters, like Spock.

13 - What are some podfics you’re enjoying right now?

I have a thing, where I can’t listen to any podfic while I’m creating, but I’m super excited for the works that will come from Pod_Together, Podfic Big Bang, & Podfic Bingo! *twirls*

Characters/Pairings: Natasha Romanov/Sam Wilson, Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov/Sam Wilson, Lucky
Content Info: Road Trips, Bisexual Character, Polyamory

Summary: It turns out that roadtripping with Natasha involves trying out all the interesting specials at roadside diners, and also 100% more camping than Sam had expected.

So with the holidays recently I’m thinking everyone has had a bit more time on their hands, especially podficcers.

I just downloaded 2.1 days of podfic.  49 new stories.  4 of them are The Force Awakens (cause Reena_Jenkins is a gift to the universe).  4 of them are short Firefly podfics (mainly cause of Blackglass, but seriously Firefly in 2016!).  A myriad of Marvel fics (lots with Darcy, my fave).

24 hours is an amazing time travel fix-it fic of The Hobbit that’s mostly completed and amazingly written and read.  If you have a shred of Thilbo shipper in your heart I demand you listen/read it and leave many comments for reader and author.  It’s called An Expected Journey by Merideath read by Liannabob.

Each podfic is basically a recommended fic, because no one bothers recording a story they don’t love.  This is Yule, Christmas, and New Years all at once for me.

Summary: A podfic of “A Cry Answered” by imperfectcircle.

Fuyumi can read between the lines of Mako’s file. The justification for having Mako on the base is paper thin – strings have been pulled and favours have been bartered, and somewhere along the line someone decided Fuyumi was the perfect combination of talent and expendability to be brought into this mess. It’s only slightly closer to a compliment than an insult – the balance tipped by the child at the centre of this, nine years old and heart-breakingly brave.

– Scenes from the year after Stacker and Mako first meet.
