what's wrong with "positive" stereotypes?

Because they are still stereotypes.  They still place people of color, or whatever group the stereotypes are about as a monolith.  For instance, saying “Asians are good at math,” may seem positive but “Asian” represents a large group of different cultures and people.  Those not good/interested at math could feel pressured to either be good at it even if they hate it or feel ostracized for not living up to this stereotype.

Black Glass/Tug of War

It is hard to keep above the surface
of ice black glass;
cutting blood and pulling
down,
in surges of cold force.

Kicking back;
failing,
falling
further into dark.

Aching neck
arching into
inky pools of night;
touching the ends,
taunting the horizon
with a kissing peck.

Frozen,
functioning none.
Breathless in the mirrored image;
nothing above,
nothing below -
except ill fated blows
and a tiresome tug of war.
