When I’m out in the world doing my day to day the women featured in this program come to mind and I continue to push myself to be a GREAT representation of Black girls who rock! #blackgirlsrock2013#B.E.T

Black Girls Rock 2013!

                                    BLACK GIRLS ROCK 2013

Well, well, well, what can I say about the phenomenal night I just watched? The Black Girls Rock award ceremony was absolutely amazing and it never fails to leave me feel overwhelmed with pride and inspiration. What is more inspiring than seeing women come together and lift one another up.

The beautiful Beverly Bond was able to provide this incredible event that can show our children, our sisters and even ourselves that is okay to dream and it is possible to succeed. It is okay to be somebody and it is okay to be proud. It is okay to take your sister’s hand and say, “You can do this” and it is okay to give her a hug and say, “Well done”.

Who used to watch Girlfriends when they were younger. Man, I used to love this show! I still search for it online because it just had those women you could relate to. You felt them! You understood them! When they cried, you cried. When they laughed, you laughed. When they loved, you loved too.

I am so inspired by Mara Brock Akil because as an aspiring actress and writer, it’s absolutely amazing to have someone in your dream field to look up to. Her acceptance speech was truly heartfelt and you know that it is more than just a job to her. It is her life. It is her dream. It is everything she has ever imagined and to be recognised for that must be amazing! She deserved that award because she stood up and instead of waiting for a miracle - she created it. A respectable, classy woman who made so many other people’s dreams come true. You rock!

And the other highlight of the night for me is the queen herself! I grew up watching her too and hearing how many amazing things she has done with her life…she is truly a leader! She takes everything that comes her way and makes everything she wants come true. I salute her!

Ladies, ladies, ladies, success is a beautiful and courageous thing and something that no one should hold you back from. A supported vision can change nations and what I witnessed tonight was beautiful!

It’s late now but when you wake up in the morning take a serious look at your life and ask yourself, are you happy? If you are, could you share that happiness with someone else? If you are not, what and how are you going to change it? This isn’t to depress you. This isn’t to stress you out. This is to empower you. Take the pen of your life and design your future. Design your dreams and plan your route to get there.

Don’t worry if no one else believes in your dreams. Don’t worry if no one sees your vision. It is at times like these where you turn to your faith and you turn to yourself. You turn to She’s Royal (LOL cheeky self-promotion there :P) - but seriously…you take a look at the people around you and people who are working hard to achieve their goals and you take inspiration from them. People won’t understand. People won’t believe. That’s okay as long as you believe in yourself, you can do anything you want.

Girl! I don’t care if you have to watch Black Girls Rock on a daily basis just to keep that motivation running through you - you do that! Because you are a queen within your own right and you deserve the life you dream of.

Goodnight y’all!

Love Tamz!
