bit trying to do an all nighter

anonymous asked:

Rfa+v and Saeran reactions to mc breaking her phone or something and she doesn't answer for over a day. Thanks also I really like your blog!

Thank you so much!!

- At first, when you don’t respond to his ‘Good morning!’ text, he doesn’t try to think much of it. Sometimes you slept in later than him!

- But you ignored his ‘Good afternoon!’ texts…And even sent a call of his to voicemail.

- Panicking, he started messaging Zen a bit.

- Did he forget something? Was he acting really bad? Was he being too clingy??

- After Zen calmed him down just a tad, he told Yoosung that you phone probably died.

- He tries to think that’s the answer, that he didn’t fuck up the only relationship he’s ever been in, but as it gets darker and darker out, with nothing from you, he Panics.

- He’s pacing in his house, trying to get Seven to answer his phone while holding his tears back, when you open the door.

- Before you can even explain your phone’s battery had died, he’s running to you full of apologies and hugging you tight

- When you finally calm him down and finally get through to him he didn’t do anything, he feels embarrassed by how panicked he had gotten, but your sweet kisses help him wash away those feelings

- Jahee probably wouldn’t panic as badly. At least it wouldn’t show.

- She thought you overslept at first, missing any alarms, and that’s why you hadn’t shown for work yet

 - I mean the two of you weren’t living together, so she hadn’t seen you since the cafe closed last night

- She can handle the cafe on her own, with the help of a few employees that were already there, but she is an anxious mess all day.

- Accidentally bumping into things, nearly dropping cups, almost spilling coffee on herself.

- As the day draws to a close, she’s nearly sweating. She wants to call the police, but she knows Seven would be able to help better.

- She’s just about to hit his contact when she hears her name being called, and when she turns around your arms are instantly around her.

- After explaining you managed to sleep most of the day away, phone dead, her worry turns into small and gentle scolding since it’s apparent you’re overworking yourself.

- She’s so relieved that you’re safe, though you are going to get a small lecture about how to properly take care of yourself.

- He usually has set times to call you through the day. If you don’t answer, you’re quick to shoot him a message when you can to explain why.

- So at first, he doesn’t think much of it. He saw you in bed this morning, and after the rough night the two of you had, you probably were sleeping in a bit.

- But once it hits past noon, and the chef reports that no one answered when he tried to bring food, Jumin is slowly hitting ‘Panic Mode’

- What seals the deal is when he calls Driver Kim to make sure you didn’t go somewhere, and he reports that he’s just driven for Jumin that day

- So after one meeting that was very difficult to focus in, he alerts Jaehee he’s taking a longer break to check up on you

- When he gets to the house and you’re gone, it takes a lot of talking from the RFA members to not call the police.

- Because, lets face it, if he wanted to, he would have the whole area looking for you in seconds.

- So he waits a bit, setting a time for himself to give in and call, while Seven is checking any CCTVs of the place

- But all of that gets interrupted when you come through the doors, a shy smile on your face

- Guess who managed to forget her phone at home when an old friend wanted to hang out?

- Jumin frowns for a bit, but he can’t stay upset or even become close to mad- He just hugs you tight and asks if you can try to remember to bring it with you next time, or at least get Driver Kim to take you somewhere.

- It takes him a while to notice, due to how busy he always is at work.

- On breaks he’s always sending you a message, full of hearts and possibly a selfie or two

- And you send the same texts back to him, and he’s set for the day!

- But when it hits his last break and there’s still no answer from you, and everyone reports that you haven’t been on the chatroom all day, he Panics.

- He tells his director he has an emergency, and that he has to leave asap

- Thankfully, they were close to being done, so the director let him go without any fuss

- As soon as he’s out, he hightails it to your place, running a few stoplights on his motorcycle.

- Once there, and once he remembers where the spare is, he busts in and calls your name

- No answer and he panics even more, until he sees you sleeping in the bedroom, a basket of used tissues near you

- Oh… He forgot that you mentioned you felt sick yesterday.

- When you sleepily wake up, he calms down and explains why he’s there, and after you weakly laugh, starts shedding his jacket.

- If you’re sick, then you definately need some loving care, right?

- It would be hard for him to panic about the situation.

- When you leave in the morning to run a few errands, he doesn’t think much of it, just assumes you’ll be back later.

- But through the day you’re not even responding to his texts! Not even the funny ones with the best memes.

- Or even his very worried ones

- Once it gets pretty late in the day, he’s looking at CCTVS all over the place trying to locate where you could be

- He’s not really hacking much anymore, but he still has some people after him occasionally.

- He’s so caught up looking for you, that he doesn’t even notice when you eventually come in. You even said hello and he responded!

- Quietly you flick his head, and that pulls him out of it pretty quickly. At first he asks why you hit him, and then remembering you were gone all day, he practically nearly breaks your back with how strong his hug is.

- Eventually you explain you accidentally left your phone home, and that’s why you weren’t responding to his jokes.

- He fusses about losing his touch since he couldn’t locate you on the CCTV, and when you glance you just laugh

- He was looking for yesterday’s date, and that’s when he realized that it was monday, not sunday.

- You weren’t going to let him live that one down.

- At first when you don’t answer, he just shrugs it off. Sometimes he didn’t have a chance to respond to your texts, it was normal.

- But usually you…did..Around lunchtime. You always asked if he had ate. And if not, then you would suggest going to eat together

- And today he was really hoping to do that…

- But he let it slide, trying not to be too clingy.

- Then again, he couldn’t let it last all day. When your phone sent him straight to voicemail, he panicked.

- He checked the CCTV and found out you hadn’t even left the house yet, so he was quick to ‘borrow’ his brother’s car and drive out there himself.

- He spent a bit outside of your door, trying to make sure this was an ‘okay’ thing to do, but eventually he let himself in

-… Only to find you asleep on the couch, phone dead, and a game controller in your hands

- He scoffed a bit, noticing a new game case on the coffee table, and it wasn’t hard to figure out you had another ‘all nighter’ with a game.

- Though, since it was pretty late in the afternoon, he woke you up, lightly scolding you and telling you to get up so the two of you could eat.

- He would try his best to be patient about the whole situation

- He noticed this morning you were gone out of the house, but your phone was left under the pillow

- He needed to be trusting, to not worry. He had this happen several times before you, he could learn to deal with it again

- But he was so anxious the whole day.

- He wanted to send you sweet messages, to ask you how you were doing, if you were having fun

- But your phone at home meant it would be pointless

- But…He could leave sweet messages anyway, right? That wouldn’t be too bad.

- So every time he worried, every time he noticed how late it was getting, that’s what he did. It didn’t wash away his anxiety completely, but it did help.

-Late at night, when you finally walked in, realizing you left your phone at his place instead of his, you were greeted by a tight hug.

- He was so worried about you, even if he wished he could avoid showing it

- But you just apologized and laughed a bit when he seemed a bit embarrassed.

- After a few more hugs and kisses, you left with your phone in tow, not noticing the cute messages until you got home

- It really did made you smile, and you were quick to send a few of your own.

Office Hours

Part 2

Pairing: Negan x reader x another female

Summary: Negan is a university professor, he assigns you an unlikely partner. When things aren’t working out between the two of you. Negan proposes an unusual method for conflict resolution.

Words: 2806

Warnings: Sexual encounter between professor and student, girl on girl action, ffm threesome, daddy kink, unprotected sex. He swears a lot because he’s Negan.

Author’s Notes: Based on this dream I confessed to @grungedaddykinks . Also, the Sam in this story is her. Check out her selfies because she is too gorgeous for my words to do her justice. If you’re interested in reading a little something-something we collaborated on, check out the finished RP thread we did. Feel free to message me if you have any writing ideas for me.

Professor Negan was fine as fuck you couldn’t take your eyes off of him as he paced the front of the room explaining the difference between a representative democracy and a direct democracy. It almost made you regret waiting until your last year to start taking electives. Who would have known such a fine male specimen worked at the Political Science Department at the university?

Ravenclaw Friendships

I have way too many Hogwarts-house-friendship headcanons BUT HERE ARE SOME OF THEM BECAUSE WHY NOT. I have one of these for every house, btw.

  • The most deadly combination
  • These are the people who bring down governments
  • And hack extremely secure databases
  • For fun
  • While drinking vodka
  • If a Ravenclaw needs to hide a body they’ll call their Slytherin friend
  • It might take them a while to warm up to each other, but when they do, they’re friends for life
  • LOTS of debates.

  • Ravenclaws are frequently uncomfortable in social situations
  • Not because they’re “nerdy”
  • They’re very honest and say what they’re thinking, so sometimes they make people uncomfortable
  • Their Hufflepuff buddies always make them feel comfortable
  • Puffs and Claws both have creative streaks, so they work on creative projects together
  • Like writing fantasy novels together
  • Or becoming a bad singer-songwriter band
  • A lot of the time they can tell what the other person is thinking and speak for them

  • Pulling all-nighters together
  • Arguing and making up
  • Ravenclaws try to keep the Gryffs from doing really stupid things sometimes
  • And Gryffs get Ravenclaws to do stupid things sometimes
  • When they first start hanging out, it’s a little awkward
  • Then they warm up and have tons of fun
  • Sometimes they don’t get each other, but they try to.

  • Lots and lots of debates/in-depth conversations
  • They stay up until three in the morning just talking about stuff
  • Sometimes they bicker, but they rarely full-on argue
  • Little bit competitive
  • Sharing the same taste in music
  • They’re kind of bad at staying in touch, but they reconnect instantly when they see each other again
  • They have fun watching movies or reading books and then criticizing the heck out of them together
  • Not afraid to be honest with each other
  • They’re going to bring justice to the world
  • Just you wait and see
  • Lots of inside jokes
  • A shared, kind of strange, sense of humor.

Imagine studying for your finals with Remus. It would not just be the fact that he could explain difficult topics to you or that learning with a partner might be easier in general sometimes, but Remus would somehow always manage to calm you down.
When you’d get stressed or just worry too much in general, Remus would take the time to pull you away from your textbooks, sitting you down on one of the couches in the common room with a cup of tea and some chocolate.
He would tell you not worry, trying to help you relax a little.
”Look, Y/N, I know you are stressed but you need to know that there is no need for you to worry a bit. You made it this far and you are doing great. Wearing yourself down like that isn’t what you need right now. Your grades don’t tell anything about you and however your exams will turn out, I am incredibly proud of you”
And even if sometimes you’d do an all-nighter in the library, guess who would be right beside you.

RFA trying to get a hyper!MC to go to bed? Maybe she had wayyyy too much coffee or something? I really like your hcs so I wonder how you might do this one. Thank you! ^^

Aw thanks so much! It means so much to me that someone likes my writing! Sorry this took me a while… I don’t really know what it’s like to be hyper T - T

  • How could you have so much energy for 11:30 in the evening?
  • He stares at you from the couch as you time yourself for another round of 2048. Eyes glued to the screen, you play again and again, trying to beat your own five minute record.
  • Yoosung gets the uncomfortable feeling that that crazed expression on your face is similar to how he looks like when he plays LOLOL.
  • He becomes alarmed when he looks up from his notes an hour later to find you bustling about the kitchen trying to bake brownies. You were a terrible cook!
  • It was a dangerous idea to keep his eyes off of you for even a minute when you were in one of these moods.
  • You would become unpredictable and listless after a day spent lazing on the couch.
  • He supposes it makes sense for so much inactivity to make way for hyperactivity.
  • He stops working and approaches you.
  • “MC? Don’t you think it’s about time to go to bed?”
  • “No.”
  • “It’s getting late, and you didn’t really get a lot of sleep last night either…”
  • “No! I want to bake you something for breakfast. I’m not the best baker, but this time will be different. You like brownies, don’t you, Yoosung?~”
  • He scratches the back of his neck sheepishly. How was he going to get you to bed with that attitude? There would be no arguing with you now. Shouldn’t she still get some sleep, though?
  • Yoosung is too timid to protest, but he’s so worried that you’ll end up burning the flat down that he tries to stay awake to watch over you.
  • Before he knows it, his eyelids are drooping. He ends up falling asleep on the counter just before you’re about to stick the pan the in oven.
  • Luckily, you decide to stop when you see how exhausted your boyfriend is. He’s snoozing away with his head in his arms, snoring lightly with his mouth slightly open.
  • You feel guilty once you realise that you probably terrified him by trying to cook unsupervised. You poke his nose. “Yoosung?”
  • “Huh…? MC?”
  • “Let’s go to bed, okay?”
  • “That,” He says through a soft, half-lidded smile, “would be awesome.”

  • She suspects you’re tipsy, judging from the way you’ve been chattering away non-stop for the past half hour.
  • She pats herself on the back for not drinking herself. Leading you home when you were this excited was bad enough, but leading you home while both of you were intoxicated? Jaehee shivered t the thought of it.
  • She braces herself for a night of exasperation.
  • Being tipsy seemed to send you into a spontaneous burst of activity. All of a sudden her reserved girlfriend would be talking, eating, and laughing without pause.
  • Jaehee’s eyes widen in panic when you choose to sprint across the street and into the apartment building without so much as a glance at the passing traffic.
  • MC is really talented. Was she a gymnast in another life? Or perhaps a track star? If I’m not mistaken, she was wearing her six-inch stilettos just now, right?
  • She chases after you and finds you in the living room trying to draw a portrait of yourself and your darling “Baehee”.
  • Jaehee is surprised to discover that she finds this behavior endearing. Though, it’s unfortunate that you’ve nearly knocked the lamp over from laughing too hard when you forget to draw eyes on yourself.
  • “Baehee! Come look at this! Don’t I look like a mop?”
  • “MC? Isn’t it about time we get to bed?”
  • “Wait, wait, wait. Let me draw Zen in here, too.”
  • Jaehee bites her tongue to refrain from asking you to rethink your artistic interpretation of Zen. That’s a horse?! Please don’t tell me she’s saying that Zen is that horse.
  • “Look, Baehee! It’s Zen! He’s a pony because of his ponytail!”
  • Okay, now it’s definitely time for bed.
  • She’s gone crazy. The alcohol must be interfering with her memory…
  • “MC, let’s go to sleep now.”
  • “But why? Don’t you like my drawings?”
  • “Yes! But Zen would like this drawing even more! In fact, if you sleep now, maybe you can wake up early enough to catch him before his next rehearsal! In fact, I’ll join you!”
  • “Really?!”
  • “Yes! You’ve captured his likeness perfectly. He will be so glad to receive such a… lifelike portrait!”
  • You giggle before beaming back at her. “Okay! I’ll go get changed now. Don’t forget!”
  • Jaehee sighs and massages her temples.
  • I hope Zen will forgive me for this.

  • Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to let you binge on all those sweets just because “A girl has to live every once in a while, OK?”
  • He was getting drowsy, but you definitely weren’t.
  • It was 1:30… You would typically be asleep by 11:00.
  • As delightful as it was to see you acting so playful, you definitely didn’t giggle this much. Ever. And that half-crazed look in your eyes wasn’t normal either.
  • You were totally on a sugar high.
  • When you weren’t scrolling through memes or doubling over with laughter from the most insignificant of details, you would poke his cheek or tug on his shirt, asking him to feed you another bite of chocolate cake.
  • It’s rare for Zen to be the one nagging you to go to bed. Still, he shakes his head and puts the plates away. “No, MC. It’s time to go to sleep. Don’t you have class tomorrow?”
  • “One more bite? Please~?”
  • It takes everything in him to resist that pleading look on your face. Why does she have to be so cute? Maybe… No. No, Zen. Don’t give in. “Sorry, babe. Bedtime.”
  • He turns to leave, but it takes him a few moments to realise that you haven’t been following along behind him. “MC?” Fuck! He walks back to the dining room.
  • You’ve gone into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and were about to slice yourself another piece of cake. “NO!”
  • He runs to the kitchen just before you’re about to take a bite, sweeping you into his arms bridal-style. “No! Zen! One more bite!” You struggle against him, but Zen only sighs and lifts you away.
  • He looks at you. “Be a good girl, please?”
  • “But you always stay up this late…”
  • “Yeah, but you don’t.”
  • Is surprised that he’s being the “responsible” one tonight.
  • He tries to conceal his fatigue as he carries you up the stairs. Though, you’ve already taken notice of how tired his eyes look.
  • “I guess I shouldn’t have had all that chocolate, huh?”
  • He laughs. “Maybe not.”
  • Zen smiles when kiss him on the cheek and say you’ll “be a good girl tonight” just for him.

  • He doesn’t understand where all your energy is coming from.
  • He himself was exhausted from the party the two of you had just attended, yet here you are - multitasking like there’s no tomorrow.
  • Jumin has to admit that it takes some skill to be able to keep Elizabeth the 3rd fully occupied while simultaneously building a tower out of a deck of cards.
  • However, he also thinks that your constant laughter coupled with the frantic way you’re running about is rather unusual.
  • He finds it entertaining until you’re holding Elizabeth the 3rd up in the air the way Rafiki held Simba up on Pride Rock in the Lion King - it’s giving him flashbacks of Saeyoung and he definitely isn’t having any more of that.
  • He gets up and pries Elizabeth free from your grasp.
  • “But, Jumin! How can I make a card palace for Elizabeth if I can’t even tell if she’s going to fit in it?
  • “MC? Don’t you think it’s time to go to bed?”
  • You frown. “No.”
  • “No?”
  • “I don’t think I can go to bed. There’s so much to do! Tell me- have you ever built a tower from marshmallows and uncooked pasta? Oh! I should make a tower for Elizabeth! Give her here, Jumin. Elizabeth~”
  • Oh boy. He gets the idea you’ll be up to nonsense until morning if he doesn’t get you into bed now. Besides, he doesn’t want to see anyone rough-housing with Elizabeth - the poor thing looked terrified.
  • “Elizabeth the 3rd and I will be going to bed now.”
  • “No!” You whine. “She’s meant to be the highlight of my creation.”
  • “It’s late, MC. Let’s get to bed. Please?” He watches you contemplate his suggestion before adding, “Bed, MC. Or I’ll make you.”
  • He meant for that line to imply some innuendo, so it’s a bit of a blow to his pride when you narrow your eyes at that last remark. How infuriating. Finally, he promises that Elizabeth the 3rd can sleep next to you if you agree to go to bed now.
  • The enthusiasm at which you accept that concession almost makes him want to pout. Elizabeth over me…?
  • He realises he’s lost when you turn to him from the top of stairs and ask. “I really am feeling restless, Jumin. Should I take a shower? Or will you make me do that, too?”

  • He doesn’t find anything unusual at first. Sure, he thought you were a bit more lively than usual - after all, trying to teach yourself how to juggle at 10:00 is a bit eccentric even for Saeyoung.
  • But he knows something is off when you suggest doing pilates this late in the evening. He raises a brow at you. But… she hates physical activity…
  • Now you’ve stolen his glasses and are giggling at your own appearance in front of the mirror. Yeah, okay. She’s acting strange.
  • “MC? Why is the coffee pot empty?”
  • “I drank it all~” You reply, flashing him a satisfied smile.
  • There’s no way he’s going to let you pull an all nighter. He’s experienced firsthand what you’re like when you’ve been deprived of sleep and he isn’t exactly fond of the zombie you become.
  • Saeyoung tries to lure you to bed in a playful way.
  • “Hey, MC! I’ve got a really good idea.”
  • You look up from the robot dog you’ve been decking out with ribbons. “What is it?”
  • “Let’s play a game.”
  • “Yes!”
  • “I’ll hide my glasses, and you’ll try to find them. The winner gets one free wish.”
  • “You’re on!”
  • He’s blind for the next hour and a half, but the effort wears you out. You had climbed bookshelves and crouched down to check the undersides of his sports cars - all to no avail.
  • Saeyoung can’t believe his plan worked. He thought you would lose focus and set about doing some other silly task - like decking him out with ribbons, for example.
  • He melts when he sees you yawning because the sight of it reminds him of a puppy. “Saeyoung? I think I lost.”
  • “Yeah?”
  • You rub your eyes. “Where are they? Your glasses? Aren’t you blind right now?”
  • “I am. But now that you’ve lost you have to grant my wish.”
  • “Hmph. Don’t say something corny like ‘be mine forever’. I’ll punch you.”
  • Saeyoung laughs. I knew she’d say that. “No. For now Iet’s just get some rest. Okay?”
  • You nod and give him a thumbs up. “You’ve got it, Captain.” He tucks you into bed and settles in beside you, chuckling to himself as he removes his glasses from the back of your hoodie.
Werewolf!BTS Dealing with a Heavy Workload

Anon aked: Hi! Ive seen your rules and I hope my request doesn’t against it. Can I have werewolf!bts reaction dealing with ‘muggle’ life’s job (tasks from college, work until late, etc.) that have been too much? I’m college student and tons of tasks since new semester began really got me f*cked up so thats why 😖😖😖😖 TYSM

I did my best with the wolf!bts part but tbh I don’t think they’d be all that different as wolves than as normal humans. Good luck with your work anon!

Jin would probably do things the normal way a.k.a. do his best and take breaks when he needs them. Will not pull an all-nighter, ever, forget about it. He needs his energy and beauty sleep. Whines to you about not being able to shift because he’s so swamped. Copes with a lot of good food and you two have study sessions together. Might procrastinate a little bit on something he really doesn’t want to do by asking if you want him to cook anything or try to get away with shifting by “mentioning” how long it’s been since you’ve seen him in wolf form.

Yoongi would plow through his work. He is going to get everything done asap, and will not stop for anything. He might get grumpy if you try to stop him so he can eat or sleep, or just take five minutes to rest his mind, especially if he’s on a roll. If you mention that you’re only interrupting him because you’re worried about him he’ll soften right up though, touched that you’re concerned for him. Will still get everything done without much in terms of a break, but will reassure you that he’s fine. Gets all of his work done efficiently and thoroughly. Will shift and take a nice nap the moment he’s done though, so don’t be surprised if you wake up to a massive wolf in your home.

Hoseok will be relatively focused and serious while doing his work, but will joke with you and complain about how much he has to do left. Will probably also throw in some mentions about how he shouldn’t even have to do all this, since he’s not human and would be totally fine living as a wolf in the woods for the rest of his life. But once you remind him that getting a degree is necessary in human society, where he has to stay if he wants you around, he drops that complaint. Doesn’t get things done in as timely of a fashion as he’d want, but would definitely get it done without having to rush to finish it last minute.

Doesn’t even sweat it; nobody knows how he does it, he just does. Doesn’t need to worry about going stir crazy because he can’t shift because he gets everything done in such a timely manner.

Jimin will probably put off his work at first just because he doesn’t know where to start and doesn’t know if he’ll be able to do well. Might shift and go for a run before he starts to ease his nerves a bit. Eventually gets down to it but will probably also assemble a study group or buddy so he has someone to help him out if he gets stuck or needs assistance with something. Does his absolute best and works hard. He’s so focused he doesn’t even think about shifting until he’s done.

Taehyung whines. There’s too much work, he wants a snack, he’s deprived of attention, he’s too sleepy. If you come around he’ll insist on taking a break for some cuddles. He’s worked hard, he deserves it damn it. Wants to take a break just to shift, but you know that if he does that he’s going to whine about wanting to take another break to shift later and before you know it nothing’s done, everything’s due the next day and a giant puppy is whining for ear scritches. He’s also That Asshole™ that does everything the night before it’s due, doesn’t edit, doesn’t proofread, and still gets a good grade.

Jungkook is the one that gets to it as soon as it’s assigned so it doesn’t pile up and he doesn’t have to worry about it later. Finishes it weeks before it’s due. Does the extra work and is genuinely interested in the topic, and depending on how interested he is, might end up writing thirty pages for like, a five page report. Wants to get everything done well, but also wants to get it done quickly so he can return to his usual daily routine.

The Devil's Luck for a title

The Devil’s Luck

Nicholas Wilde had always been notoriously unlucky in love, in health, and in the concept of return. Unfortunately for him, she’s a little bit more stubborn than luck.

sorry this is so late! i’m doing them all now! please accept this mess of words in return. nothing like 2 a.m. rambles, m’right!

Nick is sure that there isn’t a more pathetic fox in the world when Judy bids him goodnight and presses a paw to his arm. The way she says “goodnight” with that soft admiration hanging off her teeth has his stomach flipping and his eyes turning down.

He clears his throat. “Yeah. Uh… Night, Carrots.”

“Try not to pull an all-nighter, okay? Night shift doesn’t need to see your face as often as they do.”

“Foxes are nocturnal, Carrots. I’ll be fine.”

Her violets turn to chastisement, and he clutches the sides of his rolling chair until his knuckles go cream. “Nicholas,” says Judy.

That’s all he needs, really.

(all he ever needs)

“An hour,” he promises.

She concedes (barely) and touches his arm again.

(breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe o-)

“Call me if you need anything.”

He won’t. But he nods. Watches her leave. The first of the night shift had already arrived, clicking on the light to his corner desk and sitting back to the hum of an old computer monitor starting up. Nick turns and ignores him. Typing up the newest report and trying to ignore the scent of ginger tea she’d left behind.

He has the Devil’s Luck, and he’s not ready to test it.

Y'all. Y'all should eat at least 800 kcal a day.

I finally realized that “I’m not going to eat ever again” is equivalent with “I’m not going to sleep ever again”. It’s just impossible. I cannot imagine myself staying awake for 3 days or sleeping for about 3-4 hours every day. Yet I thought that fasting for a month was possible and I was frustrated when I failed to do that. I can’t just fast forever just like people can’t stay awake forever. There are people preparing for exams and reducing their sleeping time. Me too, as I’m trying to lose weight, I can watch out some calories and exercise a bit. I’m using a calorie counting app and it told me to consume at least 1000 kcal a day to make it sustainable. It wouldn’t go down under 800 kcal a day so I guess that’s the minimum to function. I’m going for 1000kcal as I don’t have any disorder but some of you do. Try to eat over 800kcal a day or at least around that amount. You can’t fast forever just like you can’t pull all nighters forever.

You had known for a long time now that hunters died young. And even though it had been many years since, you still remembered how it felt once the realization settled on you.

The first time the words ever were spoken around you, and the idea was planted, it was another hunter who had said them, unsurprisingly. Because, in your family you didn’t talk. Not about that stuff.

You had kind of pushed it away, denying it. But then the message had started making its way inside your mind - though you still distanced it from yourself. And then finally, you didn’t know exactly when, but you ultimately knew that it would happen to you too.

Although, you didn’t expect it to go like this. This was not how you had imagined it. You had liked to think that you were going to go out swinging. You had hoped it would be like an ultimate sacrifice type of way, majestic and honorable. You imagined that it would be because you saved the day. Elegant. Clean. Cinematic. Maybe even solemnly beautiful.

Not like this, at least. This was too gruesome. Too much blood. Too much fear in your brothers’ eyes. You had hoped for less pain. Less anonymity.

Might be a weird thing to think about, while in your final moments. Were everyone this odd? You wouldn’t find out. But, honestly, you were a bit disappointed. Disappointed that you couldn’t take honor in the actions that led up to this. Sure, you had done a great job. Sure, you had saved that young couple. Sure, there was admiration in that. A little bit. But, it wasn’t like you were in the middle of saving the world.

It just wasn’t what you had imagined.

However, it was time to push the thought away. You didn’t need to either share or show this disappointment. Not that you could properly explain it in your current state, as you were shuddering, your mouth filling with blood.

Instead, you chose to use your limited number of words to make something right. Better. So you decided to try and comfort your brothers. Because you could all to well see the excruciating pain in their teary eyes.

”It’s okay, b-brothers. It’s g-going… to be… okay.”

As you earlier stated, not that elegant.

You gasped, fighting for oxygen to fill your lungs, hoping that your heart would beat once again. Pain was numbing your body, and therefore you couldn’t really hear what your brothers responded.

”Damn it, (Y/N), why do you always say that it’s going to be okay when it obviously isn’t? It’s not okay, and it won’t be either.”

You could have believed that it was going to be quiet when you were gone. But it wasn’t, not for Dean. His head was buzzing. A noise consisting of things he should have said to you instead. He just seemed to wrong the people he loved, the people who loved him. He had let you get hurt, and when you were dying, he couldn’t even say the right things. A good big brother would at least told you that he was proud over you. Dean was that, proud over you, but he failed letting you know that when it mattered the most.

That along with the grief and longing for you were the most significant sources for his pain, his guilt.

And the buzzing, the buzzing was currently ruining his attempts at finding a way to bring you back. Because he had to have you back. You were not going to stay dead. No way. Never.

When his mom had died, he had somehow survived. And when his dad did, he managed to pull through, even though it didn’t feel like it. But, when Sam died, it was the most painful thing he had ever experienced. It was so painful he could barely function, barely exist. The same went for you. You were completely ruined when Sam left you. But Dean made sure the pain didn’t last. He had sold his soul so that Sam would come back. So, the ache didn’t last for long.

But this time, the solution didn’t come easy. In fact, nothing seemed to work at all. He had tried to sell his soul. Sam did too. But no one wanted their damaged, piece of crap souls, that according to the sons of bitches, had lost their vitality.

The only thing that was stable, consistent, was the agony. Dean sincerely didn’t know how the hell he managed to get up each and every day. How he managed to try and block out the buzzing so that he could get any research done. Well, failed research. Sam did better. He didn’t do good, but at least he had himself together a bit more than his older brother. He had stopped Dean from doing several reckless things that would have gotten him killed, as Dean now could see. He had gone on searches, investigations. He spent all-nighters researching. And all of every day for that matter too. In fact, Dean had no idea when Sam actually had a normal amount of sleep last. Or ate a full meal by the way. No clue. He made a mental note though, to keep an eye on his little brother. He didn’t want to lose another sibling.

Sometimes, though, Dean actually felt a bit of numb to the pain. And that messed him up. He honestly didn’t know if that might be worse that even feeling of the ache in the first place. But, it did motivate him even more, if that was possible, to keep the search going. It was a testament that you had already been gone for too long, and you just couldn’t be gone any longer.

You just couldn’t. Your brothers needed you back.

[I didn’t know what to call this one haha]

How to Study for Final Exams

As you all know, finals week is quickly approaching. While studying for your upcoming exams, consider how you learn best. Need some extra tips? Check out some of these helpful hints.

  • Re-write your notes pretending that they’re intended for someone else. It will make you think about concepts in a new way and help you to simplify things. Its also best to write by hand, as the movement will require more thought.
  • Exercise can help you focus and stay alert, so take quick breaks to walk around or do some jumping-jacks or planks when you feel frustrated.
  • Try out a new environment. Though you may feel most comfortable in the library or your desk at home, a new place will keep you motivated.
  • Don’t pull all-nighters if you can avoid it. Your brain forms memories best when it gets a bit of a rest, and you’ll be able to concentrate better after some sleep, too.
  • Block websites that might distract you. If you know you’re procrastinating by browsing Facebook or Netflix, you can download a free app to temporarily prevent access to these sites and encourage you to focus.
  • Speak aloud! Though you may not want to try this in the library while others are attempting to study in silence, studies have proven that reading things aloud helps you retain that information. Try reading from your notes at first, then see what you can remember and say it out loud without any assistance.
  • Silence or unfamiliar, soft music is the best when studying. Anything that is familiar and poppin’ is more likely to hurt you than help you when trying to study. Try gentle electronic music or classical composers.
  • Chewing gum is supposed to boost mental performance! Mint will help you stay alert, but why not try a variety of flavors to keep things interesting?
  • Lights on! Keep the environment where you’re studying bright. If you’re in a dark area and are covering material that isn’t terribly enthralling, you’ll be tempted to nap or daydream. Help your body know its go-time by keeping a bright room.
  • Relax. Finals week is stressful, but allowing that anxiety to follow you into your examination will distract you and keep you from concentrating. When you receive your test, close your eyes and take some deep breaths until you feel calm and ready to begin. Then go for it - you got this!

How do you like to study? What works best for you? Share your tips with us! We would love to pass them along to other PCC students as the end of the semester approaches.

Good luck, Lancers! You got this!

those roommate scenarios are so cute!!! do u think u can write somethin fluffy abt the one where kuroo crawls into his roommates bed? maybe w some cuddles and feelings talk (or maybe nsfw) but anything is u like is ok!!! ty!!!

I had fun with this one :’)

It was 3:36 AM.
Lately, it was becoming troublesome for him to fall asleep on certain nights. Today was the fourth time this week that he found himself idly staring at the ceiling, waiting for time to tediously pass on until he could officially, ‘wake up.’ The middle of the night was deemed eerie, to him, the only noises to be heard were the deep rumbles of the furnace and the soft peeps of swallows by the ocean. An hour ago, the soft giggles of his roommate contributed to the concoction, but had slowly died out. He completed whether or not he should go bother her, it wouldn’t be the first time that he had done so. It wasn’t even the first time this week that he had done so. She never really minded, curling right up next to him in response and holding a conversation with him until she passed out again. He didn’t want to feel like a nuisance, bothering her at such a sacred hour, but his inner asshole compelled him to.
He sat up in bed with a moan, his back cracking melodically as he arched backwards. The cold draft from the window hit him hard as he slipped from underneath his duvet, a silent tail of cusses escaping him. The floorboards creaked underneath his heavy footsteps, as if they were calling upon her, warning her of her impending doom. When he came upon her bedroom he stopped, noticing how her usually locked bedroom door was now open with a hairline crack.
She was expecting him.
It almost made his heart melt, really. This girl was honestly the sweetest person on earth, a gift from the heavens, and he wondered how he ever managed to get acquainted with someone so ethereal. He opened her door a tad bit more, slipping through and sitting on the edge of her bed. The first time he had done this, she freaked out and threw her phone at him. He couldn’t blame her, really. It would’ve terrified him too if in the middle of the night, someone decided to suddenly shift the entire weight of his bed. The black eye he received from the cellular impact still hurt, though. She shifted slightly, clutching onto the pillow she held between her arms a bit tighter. He crawled underneath the duvet, prying said pillow out of her grasp and replacing the void with his own body. She must’ve been awake, because he swore he heard a giggle when she shifted closer to him.
“Tetsurou, you’re fucking freezing.” She whispered into his chest, gazing up at him through the dark. Kuroo chuckled, his fingers subconsciously tangling themselves into her hair.
“Yeah, thats why I came to you, the hottest damn thing in this apartment.”
“I would say something snarky back but… I’m too tired to tell you to stop hitting on me.” Kuroo chuckled, snuggling closer to her warmth. She had a heavy electric duvet, and it was an honest to god miracle. Underneath said duvet and cuddled up to her warmth brought upon the coziest situation he had experienced in his entire life.
“Hey, __, you’re so hot… you denature my proteins.”
“Oh my god, get out of my bed.”
“__, __, are you a hypertonic solution? ‘Cause you make me swell, if you know what I mean.”
She rolled her eyes with a smile, shifting herself so she came face to face with him on the pillow.
“Hey Tetsurou, you must be the acid to my litmus paper, because everytime I touch you, I turn red.”
Kuroo blinked, and she blinked back, a satisfied smirk on her face. He had been hit on with what had to be the nerdiest pickup line ever to be uttered, but he could feel himself get red in the face.
“How’d you come up with that one?” He pondered. She shrugged, brushing some of his fallen bangs out of his face.
“I learn from the best.”
“Aw, thanks babe.” He lifted his shaky hand to meet hers, balancing their fingertips together, before lacing them together. He felt his heart thump, her soft gaze melting him to the core.
“Do you plan on sleeping at all tonight?” She peeped.
“Yeah, I dunno, probably. I had like, three monsters today, so I dunno if my body will necessarily let me.”
“I could stay up with you… I’d need like, four espressos, but I could.”
“Nah, nah. I can’t do that to you.” He hummed, running the pad of his thumb across the back of her hand. “You need your beauty sleep.”
“Sleep is for the weak.” She sniffled. “Besides, tomorrow’s a Saturday.” Kuroo didn’t respond, letting go of her hand and drawing her into his arms. They were chest to chest, his heart beating all the faster. She looked eerily content and it irked him. How was she so serene in a situation like this?
“You know, Tetsurou, if you need help sleeping, you could just watch one of your shitty documentaries. Those are always a big help for me.”
“This is the last time you bash on my documentaries.” He demanded, trying to keep a straight face as he taunted her. He just couldn’t though. “Those are interesting, __. You just aren’t a science major, you wouldn’t understand.”
“You might as well just say, “It isn’t a phase mom, it’s who I really am.” and you’d be getting the same point across as the one you’re trying to make right now.”
“What happened to being too tired to sass me, huh?” He poked at her side, causing her to jump a bit and slap his arm.
“You replenished my sodium levels. They’re at a all time high now.”
“Go to sleep.” He muttered, catching her eye for a moment before he flicked her forehead. She winced, then brushed it off.
“One day, I wanna pull an all nighter just so I can see how your damn hermit crab escapes that cage every night.”
“He wouldn’t do it if you we’re watching.” Kuroo snorted.
“How do you know? Hermit crabs don’t have the mental capacity.”
“Well my hermit crab does. I raise my children well, y’know.” She giggled at this, covering her mouth with her hand.
“I’d love to see how your children turn out, Kuroo Tetsurou.”
“I’d love to see how our children turn out.”
It took Kuroo a solid five seconds before he realized what he had said, and immediately, he froze up. She wore a stunned expression, her cheeks practically glowing red.
“Well that’s a new one…”
“God I’m sorry, it’s late and night and-”
“Don’t worry, Tetsurou.” She cut him off, tilting her chin upwards and planting a soft kiss on the tip of his nose. “You’re cute.”
Kuroo felt his stomach twist, his heart race, and his face burn all at once. He tried calling out to her, but she didn’t respond, her face buried into the crook of his neck. He inhaled, then exhaled deeply, letting the nerves subside deep inside of him.
Its was 4:18 AM.
And he was glad he didn’t sleep.

College and Chronic Illness Survival Guide

Before the semester starts:

Meet with disability services

Every public university in the US will have some form of a disability services office. Their job is to work with disabled students to get accommodations in place. They can serve as a really valuable intermediary if you’re having issues with a professor and can set up services like a notetaker, moving classrooms so that they’re closer together, figuring out parking, allowing more absences, etc, etc.

I personally didn’t find disability services to be very helpful because I wasn’t able to get all the documentation I needed to work with them. However, I would really recommend meeting with them regardless to see what your options are. They tend to be busy at the beginning of the semester, so if possible, shoot them and email several weeks before hand.

Talk with your professors

Regardless of whether or not disability services can work with you, talk with your professors. You don’t need to go into more detail than you feel comfortable with, but it’s generally a good idea to let your professor know that you have a chronic illness that may affect your ability to X, Y, and Z and go over what needs to happen so that you can be successful with the class. It’s also a good opportunity to address any concerns you have about course requirements and set up communication for if/when problems do arise.

I usually start with an email along the lines of this:

Dear Professor __________,

My name is ______________ and I am enrolled in your ____________ class for the _____________ semester. I have a chronic illness and would like to meet with you before the start of the semester to discuss accommodations. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of the syllabus before we meet so that we can address any specific issues with course requirements during our meeting. Please let me know when you’re available.

Get set up with a local doctor

This only applies if you’re moving away from home, but I’d really recommend getting set up with somebody local even if you plan on continuing to see your PCP at home to make coordinating your care at school a little easier. Student health centers are generally not equipped to handle complex illness, but are a great resource for acute illnesses and coordinating prescriptions. Get a copy of your medical records to bring with you to your first appointment.

During the semester:

Work ahead when possible

I know, i know. Believe me, I’m a terrible procrastinator and could do to take my own advice on this one.

Really though, try to set aside some time each day for school work even if you don’t have anything due. If your paper is ¾ finished when you flare the day before it’s due, it’s a lot easier to ask for an extension or power through the last bit. It also reduces the likelihood of having to pull an all nighter and pushing yourself into a flare trying to get a huge project finished the night before it’s due.

Ask for what you need

Too sick to finish that paper? Ask for an extension. Having a hard time reading the scanned readings? See if there’s a PDF that’s compatible with voice to text software. Don’t understand a concept or missed class? Ask to meet with the professor during their office hours to go over things or get set up with a tutor.

I know how hard and vulnerable it can be to ask for help, but your accommodations are in place to ensure a more level playing field and professors, TAs, etc are paid to work with you and help you succeed.

Find someone in each class that you can be friendly with

This doesn’t have to be your new best friend or anything, but it’s really nice to have someone in each class that you talk to enough that you can ask to borrow notes when you miss or study together for a test.

It’s okay to move at your own pace.

You don’t have to graduate in four years, you don’t have to take a full course load, it’s okay to drop or withdraw from classes, and it’s okay to take time off from school. There’s a lot of pressure to move fast, but it’s far more important that you take care of yourself. Your health (mental and physical) comes first.

Find a schedule that works for you

For me, this means no evening classes and only being on campus 2-3 days a week. For you, it might mean spacing your classes out so that you have a hour to rest in between or not having any early morning classes because you have a hard time in the mornings. Find something that works with your body.

All nighters are miserable for anyone, but if you’re already dealing with chronic illness, they can really wreak havoc on your body and take days to recover from. Go to bed early, sleep in late in the mornings, take naps – whatever you have to do for your body to feel as rested as possible.

Be kind to yourself

Chronic illness is hard. School is hard. Both together can feel just about impossible at times. Grades not what you were hoping for? That’s okay. Need to drop classes or leave school for a while? That’s okay too. None of that changes your worth as a human being or reflects on your intelligence.

Make sure you’re taking time for self care, let school stuff go for a day or a week if you need to, and things that make you feel good about yourself. You’ve got this.

14 tips to get through finals with anxiety:

Let me be clear, I am not a medical professional. I’m actually kind of a giant idiot. A giant, anxiety-ridden idiot. I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression while going to school for almost 5 years now. Through my many successes, and many more failures, I’ve put together some tips on how I’ve been getting through school while managing my mental health.

I find, for me, that anxiety is something that  can be helped by environmental factors, which is why I’ve chosen to include the somewhat cliche sleep, eat, exercise tips! I’ve also kind of tailored this list to my own anxiety, and the preventative measures I take. That being said, I hope this can help people with whatever kind of mental health issues they’re going through, to some extent!

Obviously if you’re going through something, don’t just take this list and be done with it. Please find someone to talk to, and take care of yourself. Whether that means going on medication, seeing a counsellor, or asking for extensions, accommodations, even dropping out, you have to put yourself first.

1. Sleep. I know everyone says this. But they say it for a reason! Not only is there some proof that memories of things we learn throughout the day are consolidated while we sleep, but not sleeping will seriously fuck with your head. And things that fuck with your head will do your mental state no favours. And you see where I’m going with this.

2. Exercise. AGAIN, I know everyone says shit like this. But it’s one of those things that people say for a reason. Whether it’s going for a run, doing a yoga class, having a dance party, or killing a man, you gotta get that blood pumping, and those endorphins going. It’ll make you a whole lot less anxious, you’ll sleep 742% better, and you’ll find that you learn things way more quickly and easily.

3. Don’t eat too badly. Another thing that you’ve heard 8 million times before! I know it’s tempting to live on vending machine food and coffee, but try to make an effort to keep the food thing on track. For me, a lot of my anxiety is rooted in my body image, and when I start to eat shitty, I start to freak out about that more than the millions of things I have to do for school. Keeping the food and fitness thing on lock down just takes that source of stress out of the equation for me. On top of that, the sugars and bad things in junk food will not help with your mental state. Obviously, a 2AM McDonalds run is very necessary sometimes, but try to keep it to a minimum.

4. Try to avoid over-caffeinating. I know this seems counter-productive, but I speak from experience here (again), when I say that it’s better to be a little more tired, but a lot more chill. If you drink too much coffee, you could get more anxious, and that’s not going to lend itself well to productivity. I’ve had many a panic attack caused by too much caffeine, and it’s no fun, and no good for getting any work done. You also don’t want to be laying in bed hours after you’re done studying, still feeling like the energizer bunny (referring to #1).

5. Keep up with readings and coursework throughout the term. I’m going to make this mean two things. The first being, don’t try to learn a whole semester in a night. That’s a guaranteed way to have a mental breakdown, and get a shitty mark. Number two, is to keep up with your regular readings even while studying for midterms or exams in other classes. Don’t throw everything else to the wayside just because you have one assessment coming up. That will just leave you with 3-4 classes to catch up on after, when you probably would rather just relax for a few days after all of the hard work you put in studying!

6. Make sure you’re not seeing anything for the first time when you start studying. This is kind of an add on to the previous one. Keep up with your readings, try to make sure you understand the concepts as you learn them in class. It makes for a way easier time studying when it come time. Also, if you’re an anxious mess by the end of the semester like I usually am, learning things with an anxious brain is much more difficult to say the least, sometimes impossible. This will help to take some of that out of the equation.

7. Start studying earlier than you think you need to. Waaaaay earlier. Give yourself time for bad days. I’ve started studying for my physiology final 2 weeks before, and have already had 3 shitty, unproductive days this week. Starting stupidly early is a lifesaver, because having a bad day is less of a big deal. You’ve got tons of time to get back on track and not be rushing at the last minute.

8. Don’t take the bad days personally. You’ve probably been working your butt off all semester, and your brain is probably more susceptible to the crappy effects of anxiety and depression than it was at the beginning of the year, speaking from experience. This ties in really well with the previous tip! Give yourself tons of time, and then a bad day is no big deal, and nothing to feel bad about.

9. Alternate late and early nights when studying. Don’t try and pull 5 all nighters in a row. Just don’t. Why would you do that. Love yourself. I’ve found that alternating between late and early nights is a nice mix of banging out a good 8 hours of studying and really getting through a big chunk of my work, and then getting to spend a day recovering, and letting all of the knowledge you’re acquired the night before sink in a bit more.

10. Alternate light and heavy study days. This goes hand in hand with the above tip! It’s the same idea, spend one day working your butt off, and the next day doing some cooking or cleaning, go to the gym, getting some sleep. Obviously you’re still going to get a few hours of work in, but this way you’ll be ready for another intense-slash-late night tomorrow.

11. Don’t try to study 24/7. I have friends who do this, and I also used to do this. It’s an A+ way to burn yourself out way too quickly. I’ve found it’s better to use smaller amounts of time more effectively than just overloading your brain and burning yourself out. If I don’t have class until 1 on a given day, I don’t just study al morning, go to class and then keep studying for the rest of the night. I usually spend the morning working out, doing some cooking, anything not school related. For me, stuff like that is a huge stress reliever, and I find that when I go to study after class, I feel way more rested, and way more ready to sit down and power through whatever I’m working on. It’s one of the more tempting things, and I know the feeling very well, but try to resist.

12. Put in your late nights and all-nighters before your final. As in not the night before. I’ve got a final next friday, and I’m going to be aiming to be in bed by 10  wednesday and thursday. Try to study so that you can almost have a work-load that winds down the closer you get to exams. If you’ve gotta pull the all nighter, pull it with a few days to spare before your exam so you can catch up on sleep and not show up to write it like a zombie.

13. Set aside extra time for things you know you have trouble with. I fucking suck at many of the things I’m learning in many of my classes. Don’t try and learn those things in one go, review them as you study the rest of your material, and then make time to come back to them later. I’ve found that repeated exposure is a biiiig help in understanding and remembering things, and it’s just one more way to give that anxious brain of yours one more advantage.

14. Accept that you’re not going to know everything. Crazy, right? I’ve gone into exams straight up having not studied parts, and still coming out with an average 20 points higher than the class. That is absolutely not something you should do, it is just me humblebragging. Knowing how to do multiple choice tests, knowing what the course expects of you, and being a generally well prepared student will help you more than trying to cram every last fact into your head.

LawLu (for the ship sleep thing)

Send me a ship and I will tell you: (Sleeping!)

•Who is a night owl:

Law is, he stays up and pulls all nighters regularly due to a combination of insomnia and nightmares. Luffy sleeps easily most of the time.

•Who is a morning person:

Luffy, he likes to be up and ready for adventure, and breakfast. Law doesn’t sleep much, so in the few hours he does get he’s not to be disturbed.

•Are they cuddlers:

Luffy loves cuddles. Massive cuddled, Law doesn’t mind unless he is trying to do something or Luffy is clinging on too long. Then he might get a bit irritated.

•Who is the big spoon and who is the little spoon:

Luffy is generally the big spoon but sometimes Law.

•What is their favourite sleeping position:

They almost always end up cuddling.

•Who steals all the blankets:

Luffy does.

•What they wear to bed:

Law will generally wear nothing or his jeans but sometimes when he is dead tired he’ll just collapse into bed in his jeans and hoodie. Luffy wears his clothes.

•Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt:

Law thinks Luffy looks quite cute in his too big hoodie but he has never wore Luffys clothes.

•Who falls asleep mid-conversation:

Law does sometimes after a longtime without sleep. Luffy does sometimes but not very often.

•Who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares:

Luffy does. He can never go back to sleep afterwards, most of the time Law is awake so they end up cuddling as Law tries to comfort Luffy. Law doesn’t wake up from his nightmares, he just murmers/tosses/cries/screams waking Luffy up. Law is always very shaken after his nightmares and will cling to Luffy, sometimes for hours until he calms down.

•Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep:

Luffy does quite regularly, law is always threatening to kick him out of the bed but rarely caries through with it (He is rather susceptible to Luffy’s big chocolate-brown eyes). Occasionally Law has when he is having a nightmare, but Luffy never mentions it.

•Who can’t keep their hands to themself:

Both, maybe Luffy slightly more.

anonymous asked:

Hey so I'm also a senior this year and would love to get into some good study habits. Any good tips in terms of stationary and studying in general?

I’ll start with the study space because no matter what habits you have, the study space is where everything takes place.

Study spaces are important.

Keep your study space decluttered so you don’t get easily distracted or overwhelmed.

If you don’t have a study space, look for one ASAP. It has to be a place where:

  • You feel 100% comfortable,
  • Your stuff is within reach,
  • There is a good light source (if it’s early, so you’ll get daylight; if it’s late at night, to avoid shadows in your desk, etc. // Please try to use only natural light.)

Try to minimize distractions. You’d better keep temptations away (e.g. your phone, Nintendo, whatever).  You can keep technology there if you’re gonna need it.

You know what comes with study spaces? Stationery. Hell yeah.

Here’s what I like to keep with me all the time:
• Sticky notes in different sizes, for annotations. Never read without some of these handy.
• Sticky flags/tabs to bookmark!
• Pens and pencils for the obvious.
• Erasers obvs.
• Scissors, glue, and all that jazz in case you ever need them. Just make sure you have some.
• Highlighters (more than one color if it works for you!): you can try color coding [example] and see how it goes.
• Markers and color pencils for when I get artsy.
• Blank stickers! (I use them for a lot of things, like classifying stuff, put titles, make my bookmarks, etc.)

You don’t need fancy, expensive stationery either. My first ever bullet journal was a small notebook I bought at a convenience store, and it’s actually the prettiest (and neatest!) out of them all. No kidding. Just use what you have.

I’m pretty sure you have a lot of papers from all these school years. Organize them. Make sure you’re gonna need them all; if you won’t, get rid of them.

MAKE SURE you have a calendar in here. Your planner works fine too, but it is so useful to have a clear visual reminder of what’s in for you for the whole month. @theorganisedstudent has these wonderful printables that can help you out with this.

Anyway, now with habits.

First, you should read this. It’s about forming (and unforming) habits. // Thanks to @psychedaboutstudying

These are the habits that have worked for me:

  • Google stuff. Learn more if you have the chance, so you understand something better.
  • I try not to pull all nighters. Basically, sleep.
  • Planning.  Always plan ahead. Keep a planner [Psst, here’s my masterpost]
  • Be responsible. Take your assignments and tests seriously.
  • Start early. In my school, there are two teachers that give out the longest homework, and everybody knows it (other teachers actually don’t assign more stuff because they are aware of it) so to actually feel like I have my life together, I have to start it the same day they assign it, and do bits by bits of the work every day.
  • I make sure to keep an eye on these studying mistakes (so I don’t make them).
  • Use the Pomodoro Technique. I actually didn’t really get the hype for this until I tried it.
  • Try different note-taking techniques. Make this a habit. Learn in different ways. Take notes in different ways and see what works best for you. [Heres @kimberlystudies masterpost]
  • Read before the class. This makes me familiar with the topic, AND the teacher actually gives me a better grade for participating in class (because I know what they are talking about) when the semester ends.
  • Participate in class. Teachers like you more, you’re more involved with what you’re learning, and there are more chances of remembering the lesson.
  • Test yourself frequently. You’ll probably remember stuff easier and for more time.
  • I like to be best buds with teachers, lmao. When I befriend teachers, I get on their good side, and if I have problems with due dates or just about any issue, they give me opportunities, y’know? [True story: I once gave my teacher (with the massive homework) my notebook with like five blank pages, and told her I didn’t get to finish it. She took it anyway, but returned it to me when the day ended and told me to finish it and turn it in later, aND THAT WAS COOL, MAN, BECAUSE THAT WAS 30% OF MY GRADE].
  • I Wake up early. You don’t need to wake up at 4 am like me (I prefer to have more time to do stuff before getting ready for school —school starts at 7 am for me, and I start getting ready at 5:30 am because I take so long.) What I do in the ‘spare time’ is check my phone, read a book, listen to music, work on an assignment, etc.
  • Don’t multitask. Seriously, don’t do it; focus on only one thing instead.
  • I’m often the ‘leader’ in group projects. That helps me be in control of everything (but it’s bad for my perfectionism, I guess), and at the same time, I delegate. I make everybody work. Don’t take anybody’s shit.
  • Annotate. Annotate as much as you can, especially literature! I think this is my fav masterpost about it!
  • Make connections.
  • Always check and correct the answers you got wrong on a test. Seriously, you will remember the right answer later.
  • Ask questions! Always ask for more information (especially if you don’t quite get something!)
  • I try to keep a study routine. Here’s @beautifullearning ‘s guide to establishing a good one.
  • Last, but not less important at all: Don’t stress yourself out. If things get messy, just breathe in and out. Take care of yourself.

I can’t really think of more useful stuff, but I’m gonna link you to some masterposts or articles that are really good and useful!

Hi! So, I've been following your art through deviantart, tumblr and blogspot for some time, but I couldn't find your thoughts on improvement. Do you have any thoughts on it? Like, are anatomy books[loomis, hogarth...] that helpful? Having a drawing/sketching routine? Don't draw "cartoon" until you know how to draw "real" stuff? Or, maybe, the-most-valueable-piece-of-advice-ever? I find you very inspiring and would love to hear some thoughts from you (: Wish you all the best!

Thank you kind stranger!

Agh, I’m actually having trouble writing about this because I’m going through a strange mental recalibration on how I think about and approach art. But I’ll try my best to answer!

anonymous asked:

How do I get the "mind static" to go away? I need to outline and fix plotholes, but my mind just goes blank when trying to think about it. I need to work on my story, but I can't think. How do I make myself think about things again?

I hate when that happens! As somebody who spends a lot of time trying to jumpstart my brain, here are some of my top tricks:

  • Location
Find a place to be your Thinking Spot. It can be a desk, or a coffeeshop, your local library, on the bus… anywhere that helps you feel focused! Some people like locations where there are other people working, some people like somewhere noisy or quiet, and some people swear by trapping themselves somewhere really, really boring so that the work they should be doing is more exciting by comparison. To keep the association of Thinking Spot -> Focus Time, if you feel your mind starting to wander, or you get tired, or your phone is looking really appealing… get out of the Thinking Spot! Don’t goof off while you are physically there.
  • Ritual
This one is a train your brain kind of tip– basically, pick something to do before you need to turn your brain on. It can be something on this list, something personal, or a combination. Maybe you want to do ten minutes of yoga, or you could meditate, make yourself a cup of licorice tea, travel to your location… It doesn’t matter what exactly you do, so long as it works for you! Start by doing it when you already have your brain turned on. Build up the association. After you start to build a strong association between the ritual and you brain working at optimal conditions, you will be able to use the ritual as a trigger to pull yourself back into that state of mind.
  • Invigorate Thyself
Mind and body are connected. When you can’t think yourself into the state of mind that you want, sometimes you can physically jump yourself into the brainspace that you want to occupy. Most of these are the same things that I use to make it through all-nighters. You can go for a run, or do jumping jacks. Sing along loudly to your music. Call a friend. Get up and stretch! Your back will thank you. A friend gave me the excellent tip of pausing your work for periodic dance breaks, which I can confirm helps brain function and morale. Brushing your teeth is a slightly weirder tip that I picked up, but really does help make you feel refreshed and more awake. Showering always helps me think more clearly. Think of things that make you feel more alert!
  • Sensory Information
When my brain turns to white noise, I’m usually dissociating on some level– my mind checks out, essentially. Like I said in the last tip, there are states of mind that you can’t think your way out of– you need outside input as a jumpstart. Some people like focusing games (like, the ‘five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can feel, etc), but they’ve never worked very well for me. I do best with adding sensory input, and hot and cold are usually what I go for, whether that’s opening a window on a cold night, taking a hot shower, or getting a hot or cold drink. Also shoving your hands in flour or rice feels pretty great. Some people like a sense of weight to help them focus (like putting a weighted pillow on your lap), and depending on your preferences, you might like to make yourself a soft and comfortable nest, or prepare a slightly uncomfortable Thinking Spot to remind you that it isn’t nap time. Basically, reminding your brain that an outside world exists forces it to react, which can be the boost you need to exit the brain fog.
  • Thinking Food
If you have a chill and comfortable relationship with food, it can be nice to grab a snack as part of sensory information/ritual. A cup of tea or coffee can give you a caffeine boost, or maybe the taste of lemon cake has started to mean ‘writing time!’ for you– it’s part of the appeal of working in coffee shops. If food or beverage doesn’t sound like a party to you, you might still enjoy grabbing a cup of ice water for a bit of refreshment and hydration while you’re working. I try to always take a bottle of water if I know I’m going to be trapped in front of a screen and need to keep headaches at bay, and very cold water adds a little shock of alertness that keeps me going on all-nighters.
  • Attire/ Objects
When you’re setting up a Thinking Spot, doing your ritual, or trying to use sensory input to get your brain working, you can use props! When I was painting for my thesis my gear went: a) hair tied up (with one bandana in particular), b) apron tied, c) big awful headphones —> ready to fight. Ideally, pick something that you can carry around with you, and save it for when you need to make your brain fog clear away. Attire can function like a uniform by adding that extra bit of awareness that it’s time to work, and objects can range from something fiddly to mess with, or just having your gear that you can lay out in front of you, like your favorite pen and a notebook with soft paper.
  • Time of Day
When do you feel the most focused and creative? Personally, I like to do creative things under cover of darkness, because an edge of tiredness removes your inhibitions and lets you feel more creative, without immediately going with self-doubt and thinking ‘this is stupid’. Other people like to get started fresh in the morning, when the sun is just up and they feel rested. (I think that this is the ideal time to edit what you made at 2am the night before in a fit of creativity but bad spelling). It’s totally up to you– maybe lunchtime or early evening is your gig.
  • Sounding Board
Do you have a friend that you can call to bounce ideas off of? If not, that’s fine– the very act of explaining it out loud can jog your mind, which is why programmers use the Rubber Ducky Trick, in which they explain exactly what they are doing to a rubber duck. Give it a try!
  • Reward
Reward is a part of operant conditioning that can help you feel positive and good about thinking and being in a state free of mind static– but it’s also very tricky to get right. Don’t punish yourself ever for the brain fog, or for being unproductive. Do not!!! It doesn’t help, and beating yourself up is not the goal. The point is to feel good about getting things done and enjoy being able to focus and think about things. So when you are thinking of ways to treat yourself for a job well done, don’t make it anything that is a basic necessity, because you deserve basic necessities no matter what. Make a reward anything that makes you feel good. You can set up something with a friend where you message each other something you did that day that you’re proud of. Look in a mirror and tell yourself that you’re great. When I was doing the thesis painting, one of my studio mates set up a sticker chart that we’d add a sticker to every time we went in to work. It was set up as a ‘ten stickers means your buddies do something nice for you’ system, but honestly? Just adding a sticker to the chart felt really, really good. Think of ways to treat yourself for a job well done.
  • Are You Well?
Once again: Your mental state can be more connected to how you are physically feeling than you realize. So, if you just can’t get your head to work, take yourself through a wellness checklist– Are you fed? Hydrated? Clean? Comfortable? This here is a self-care flow chart that can help take you through the basics to make sure that you are feeling good, and what to try if you aren’t.
Additionally– severe inability to think and focus can be a sign that something isn’t quite right. Depression punches you right in the frontal lobe, ADD messes with your ability to focus, and trauma can force you into a detached state of mind that’s meant to protect you, but makes… actually doing things really difficult. Extended stress can put your brain into emergency shut down, too. If you’re feeling really worn down and sluggish all the time, you might be sick– there are lots of things that cause malaise that knock you back down to basic functions that don’t include a lot of critical thinking. If your brain is staticky all the time, no matter what you do to try and get it back online, it might be worth it to talk to someone and just make sure that you are actually well.

That’s most of my arsenal for restarting my brain when it’s determined not to work.
I hope that some of these ideas work for you!

AN: Thank you to aquamarine-907 for giving this cute af request, I really hope that this is what you were looking for! *I do not own the gif, and please ignore any spelling errors.

Pairing: Pietro (AoU) X Reader

Prompt: Hi love your writing! :) Hope to see more! Also I was wondering if you were taking requests? If so could you do a PietroxReader where the reader is an Avenger and she’s trying to fall asleep but can’t and bumps into Pietro which turns into a fun all nighter?
((The request was rather general, so I really hope that this is what you had in mind! Sorry if it is a bit short))

“We’re Going Out”

You learned almost immediately that New York City was probably one of the worst places to sleep. You had been living in New York for about a month, but most of those nights you were on a mission with the rest of the avengers or just so exhausted from your training that you crashed right away.

But, Natasha caught a cold and couldn’t train you, so you went to bed full of energy and with out a single ounce of fatigue. Every time you closed your eyes, all you heard was the car horns outside or whatever else went on in the streets.

Groaning in annoyance, you rolled out of your bed and rubbed your eyes. You gave up on sleep all together and decided that you were going out watch TV or something. You wrapped your body in your favorite blanket (a pink one with kitties printed all over it), figuring that no one would be up to see you at this ungodly hour.

You softly padded your way down the halls of the Avengers tower and made your way to the kitchen.

Oh, yeah! You thought when you spotted a little tray of chocolate chip cookies on the counter. Bruce, much to everyone’s surprise, had a strong love for baking and would often make cookies and cakes. You heard everyone talk about how great they are, but you had never gotten a chance to try them because a certain Avenger (*cough* Pietro *cough*) would always ran past you and snatch it from your hands as you were about to put it in your mouth.

You put the cook in your mouth, and you almost cried because of how delicious it was.

“Y/N?” You heard an accented voice carry through the kitchen. “You are eating my cookies!”

You turned around and snorted at Pietro. Though you were new to the Avengers, everyone was pretty excepting of you, and Pietro in particular had made an effort to be a friend to you. Surprisingly, you felt very comfortable around him.

“Just because you always take them does not make them yours.” You clarified, grabbing another cookie. Pietro rolled his eyes and zoomed over to the tray of cookies and snatched them all up.

“Is this what you always do?” You asked, looking at the clock. “Do you always zoom around the tower stealing people’s cookies at two O'clock in the morning?”

“I only steal cookies when Bruce makes them,” He clarifies. “And yes, I am usually up at this hour.”

It was then that you realized that he was fully clothes and looked just as awake as he was during the day. “Why? Don’t you ever sleep?”

He shrugged then went over to the tea kettle to put on some hot water. He zoomed over and grabbed two mugs from the cabinet. “I am more of the nap kind of guy, I don’t usually sleep for very long.”

You sat down on a stool and pulled it up to the counter what Pietro was making the tea at. You watched his muscles through his tight shirt shift and stretch every time he moved to get a tea bag or sugar. A small fuzzy feeling in your chest appeared.

“What about you?” He asked whilst pouring the water into the mugs. “Couldn’t sleep?”

“Yeah,” You sighed. “Too much noise and stuff. I just needed to get up and walk around.”

He nodded and slid the warm red mug over to you. “So…do you want to do something?”

You looked at him with curious eyes. “Like what?”

He shrugged. “We’re in New York City! What do you mean ‘like what’? We could do anything!”

You had to admit, the idea was more than appealing to you than just sitting around and talking about Pietro’s sleep habits. “Maybe…but it’s the middle of the night. What would we do?”

He threw his hands up in excitement. “Anything! We could just walk around, or…what ever you want. I just don’t want to be cooped up in this tower.”

“So, get dressed.” Pietro gulped down his tea in a second, then put it in the sink. “We’re going to out.”

For the entire month or so that you had lived in NYC, you hadn’t done much sight seeing. You were always away on missions or cooped up in the tower training, so the entire area was new to you.

Of course, at two in the morning, a lot of the shops and touristy stuff was shut down, which was kind of nice. Though it was dark there was still a lot of people and cars out, and for your first time walking around you felt a little intimidated.

As you and Pietro crossed the road you grabbed his jacket sleeve and looked from side to side cautiously, afraid that one of those crazy taxies was going to ram right into you.

“The amazing Y/N,” Pietro said in a mocking tone. “She can fight an entire army of HYRDA agents without a so much as a second thought, but is afraid of New York traffic!”

You waited until you both were safely on the sidewalk, then slapped his shoulder. “Shut up, I’ve never walked around here before. I’m just being careful.”

Pietro let out a soft chuckle and wrapped one of his arms around your shoulders, pulling you close to him. “I am just teasing you, love. It’s good to be careful.”

You blushed at the name 'love’ and tried to fight off the smile that threated to grace your lips.

“Where are we going?” You asked and began to rub your hands together to create some warmth. “I would have grabbed a warmer coat if I had known we were going to be walking this far.”

You watched the snow fall from high above the skyscrapers and shivered, maybe this wasn’t the best idea.

“It’s just a little farther.” Pietro said as he pulled you even closer to him. You resisted the urge to snuggle up to him, the man was like a heater.

After a few more minutes of walking, you ended up at the entrance of one of the largest parks you had ever seen. You shrugged Pietro off your shoulder and walked over to a sign to brush the snow off and read it.

“…Central Park?”

You have heard of it before, and said that one day you would try to go and see it, but you hadn’t realized just how big it was. And, even at night, how beautiful.

It was covered with a thin layer of snow and the lamps let off a dim glow that shimmered over to the walkways and bridges.

“I figured that Central Park would be a good place for you to get first acquainted with the city.” You heard Pietro say. “That, and it’s beautiful around this time of year.”

You couldn’t wait to see what the park was like, so you grabbed the cuff of Pietro’s sleeve and tugged him along the stone path. You couldn’t see, but Pietro was admiring how cute you looked when you got excited.

You ended up finding a small bridge that stretched over a small stream. You grabbed the edge and leaned as far as you possibly could to see the waters under.

“Whoa, Y/N, be careful.” Pietro said quickly and grabbed your hips to keep you from falling,

“Look!” You said excitedly and pointed at the water. “It’s like a mirror, I can see my reflection!”

You made a few funny faces into the calm and icy waters, Pietro laughed and leaned over to see what your face looked like in the water. He grinned and did the same, sticking out his tongue and crossing his bright eyes.

Watching the reflection, you could see him stop making face and turn to look at you. Before you could even avert your eyes from the waters, you saw him lean in and place a light kiss on your could cheek.

“We should do this again, yeah?”

((I wasn’t sure if the person who requested wanted a 'stay up all night and cuddle’ kind of all nighter, but I opted for the 'fluffy night on the town’ sort of story. I hope you liked it either way! Sorry if it seemed a little sucky, I don’t think I was at my best with this one))

Veronica was a little bit surprised and happy, that this nice person wanted to continue the conversation. The other girls from her class mostly ignored her and just talked to her, when they wanted help with something. I guess, there are not only bad people in the world.

Happily, she extended her own hand and shook Liv’s hand. “I try my best to avoid all-nighters, because I need a lot of coffee the next day.” She laughed softly. “In my opinion, all-nighters can be good. On the down side, it will become problematic and will have the opposite effect when you do it too often. Wow, that sounds interesting. When I was a child, I tried to read an anatomy book, but it was too difficult for me.” She let out a soft laugh, when she remembered it.

Quickly, she closed the book, that she had opened and showed Liv the cover. “It’s just a history book about the French Revolution. My parents have a lot of books. I always call the room “little library”, because there are so many. They have a few books about this time period, but I always had the feeling, that they are very one sided from the historic point of view.”
