Sooo I am very curious on each characters backstory so here is a list. I’d love to receive more thoughts on this as well!
So far we know Neil is jewish with two parents who are divorced from an unknown reason. His dad is very dorky and nerdy while his mother, from comments made by Neil, is his preferred parent.
Dolph Houston is american, but was raised in a German army base and whose surname pertains to Scotland. No need to mention who he was modeled after.
David is 24 and one of the only characters alongside Max to have his age confirmed. He is also potentially Canadian after season 1 episode 6 with the comment made about his “papers” by Dolph. It is David’s reaction that leads me to believe this. We know after the end of season 2 that he isn’t blind to the realities of the world but rather chooses to see the bright side of things and tries to get others to see the same.
Max is of Indian descent with parents who are potentially abusive. He flinches back when people get in his face, he is already cynical at the age of 10 for pete’s sake and by the end of season 2, we know for a fact that they practically abandoned him at the camp.
Gwen I am unsure on. I looked up all her nicknames and most of them originate from Welsh (aka Britain). We know she
is a fan of Doctor Who and “wants to have his British babies.” But her skin ton has me a bit unsure until I looked up anglo-indian, which is a mix of Britain and India. Now this is just heavily perceived and in no way accurate without confirmation. (Although I can definitely see her being Hispanic as well.)
Harrison has made hints multiple times that he can use actual magic but when he makes objects disappear, he has difficulty bringing them back. By the finale of season 2, we learn his parents are terrified of him because he made his brother disappear.
EDIT: Okay, Harrison is totally Bill Cipher reincarnated as a human.
Nerris - I didn’t realize she was female until the last episode and I feel bad, but she wasn’t a character I cared for until the finale. After having seen her parents, I realized her entire family is made up of cinnamon rolls. They are the one and only perfect family.
Preston Goodplay lives with his grandma and tends to shout a lot because of her bad hearing. His last name as far as I can tell is just purely a play on words, or a pun if you will.
Nikki used to be a Flower Scout but after her traumatic experience of being driven out, she now seems to have an illness whenever she is near anything prim and proper. And her mom is a gold digger. Enough said.
Neil Armstrong Jr. “Space kid” - has always been so bazaar with his obsession with space but we later learn it is because his Uncle is Buzz Aldrin and his great grandpa is the actual Neil Armstrong. As his uncle commented: “Rocket fuel runs through his veins!”
For those don’t know, Aldrin is an American engineer and astronaut who was the second person to land and walk on the moon.
Gaylord Nurfington “Nurf” was sent to the camp to enroll for behavioral correction while his mom was in jail. He acts crude and bullies the other children, but you learn the reasoning for his behavior is because he was stereotyped into being a problem child at a young age. He was sent to a facility to work out his problems, only to become worse by the influence of other kids.
it is also revealed that he explored his sexuality in the past with a boy named Chris.
Meredith Miller "Ered“ - Ered is stereotyped into the cool kids category. It is confirmed she uses people for her own gain and performs poorly in school, hence the bad grades. Ered’s parents are two male agents of the government that have been keeping an eye on Campbell to validate his legitimacy.
Cameron Campbell is the founder of Camp Campbell, which he named after himself. He is a wanted man by the federal government and is always on the run. Apparently he is rich and powerful and at one point had been the prime minister of Thailand.
1. People will promise to never leave you. They will. It’s okay to be sad when they do.
2. It is always okay to cry. Always. Find a bathroom, bury your face in your pillow, and let it out. Cry in the shower. Cry in the car. Cry when you need to.
3. Boys will flirt with you for a while and then ignore you. Then, they will flirt with you some more. It will be confusing. You have every right to stop putting up with it.
4. Pay attention to what people say when they’re angry. When you make up and they tell you they didn’t mean any of it, know that they did. Also know that they wish they didn’t. Forgive them.
5. Never pretend to be someone you’re not. If you don’t like tea and classic novels, don’t act like you do to impress people. If you don’t want to wear leather jackets and combat boots, don’t wear them to please someone else.
6. People will be mean to you; they will spread lies, call you names, and talk about you behind your back. Eventually you will realize that it is petty and stupid and not worth your time. You’ll be right. Move on with your life.
7. Your friends will not always be there for you. When you really need to talk, they will sometimes not want to hear it. That’s okay. Take a deep breath and remember all the times you felt the same way. Exhale.
8. You will wait and wait and wait for your first kiss and your first date and your first relationship. The anticipation will kill you. You will keep trying to find the right person in everyone you meet. Relax. There’s no rush. The best things happen unplanned.
9. Enjoy being young. Love that everything is spontaneous. As you get older, things become more and more scheduled out. Embrace the fact that you aren’t there yet.
10. Tell people how you feel. It will be terrifying in some cases and gratifying in others. It will create relationships and ruin them. But speak your mind, even if your voice shakes, because your thoughts may never otherwise be heard.
11. Sleep. If you go to bed late, sleep in. If you’re still tired when you wake up, go back to bed. If you can’t stay awake during the day, take a nap. Sleeping is a foolproof way of getting rid of your problems for a little while. Utilize it.
12. Talk to people. Talk to your sister about the guy she likes. Talk to your mom about her childhood. Talk to your dad about his favorite books. Talk to your grandparents about their families. Talk to your friends, talk to your pets, talk to the cute waitress at the restaurant. Learn things from them. Be inspired.
13. Always bring a sweater. Even if you think it won’t be cold.
14. Try new things. Eat a new food, try a new kind of juice, switch up the way you dress. You never know what you might end up loving. Life can get boring. Mix it up a bit.
15. Take care of yourself. Wash your hair with that good smelling soap you love. Eat fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water. Go for long walks in pretty parks.
16. School is important. Try your hardest. If you don’t get something, ask for help. Do your homework. Show your teachers that you’re willing to work hard, and when it comes time to apply to colleges, you’ll be glad you did.
17. There will always be someone prettier, smarter, funnier, or more popular than you. The beauty of it is that it isn’t a competition.
Second only to Spy in his knowledge of languages. He’s fully fluent in German, English, Czech, and Yiddish—the latter two from his mother—and passably fluent in French. He has academic knowledge of Latin and Greek and has picked up a bit of Russian from Heavy.
Has a mixed parentage. His mother was a Jewish-Czech immigrant to the town of Rottenburg, and his father, a mad scientist from an established, well-off family. She was hired on as his father’s lab assistant, eventually leading to their marriage. They’d describe it as very romantic, but Medic always thought it was weird and kind of gross.
An only child.
Went on family hiking trips to the Alps growing up, an activity he still enjoys when he has a chance.
Was initially raised Jewish, but this was abandoned a few years before he was Bar Mitzvah age. By 1933, his parents scrubbed as much of their family’s Jewish connections as they could. As a result, he doesn’t feel much connection to the Jewish culture or faith. So he’s non-practicing, obviously.
Starting in his early teens, he attended all-male boarding schools, first in Germany and then in Switzerland.
His mother used his attendance at Swiss schools as a ticket to escape an increasingly tense Germany and move to be near him. His father promised he’d follow eventually, but never did. Medic never forgave him for that.
During WWII, his father finally divorced his mother, declaring the marriage a lost cause and starting over with a new young wife. Medic cut off all contact with his father after that.
Supported his mother after the divorce and finished putting himself through school by selling drugs and organs on the black market and performing back-alley surgeries. He gained a reputation for stealing kidneys from the men he slept with but still did just fine. Besides, he only took one!
Toward the end of WWII, Medic did his first stint of field medicine when bombing (from both sides) spilled over into Zürich, where he was living and studying at the time. He turned out to be very good at it, but before he could leave Switzerland and go work on the front, the war was over. Whoops!
His father is still alive, but Medic pretends he’s dead.
I made this little guy out of wax during the winter ─ he’s a peace poppet to help everyone in the world be kind and understanding 🙊✨
I made him using left over wax so a bit of soot ended up being mixed in but happened to be perfectly placed as buttons! I also carved a heart on his back to symbolize peace, unity and love. Isn’t he the cutest? 💓
Request: “A one shot where Harry keeps trying to admit that he likes the reader like each other but he keeps getting interrupted”
Pairing: Harry Hook x Reader
Warnings: Slight use of language
“Hey, has anyone seen Harry?” You questioned walking into the VK “headquarters”.
It was really just an abandoned floor of an old factory, but it was used as Mal’s studio and a place for your group of five friends to hang out and enjoy each other’s company.
“Last time I saw him, he wanted to talk to you. He should still be on the docks.” Evie said, her eyes focusing on a new design in her sketchbook.
You thanked her quickly and bounded down the steps of the building. You were known as one of the evilest villains on the Isle and it showed in your confident nature and how you presented yourself on the streets.
You chuckled darkly as the Gaston boys physically shuddered when you passed them. Gil was one of your best friends, but his brothers were known to be assholes.
They soon stopped their mean taunts after you’d finished with them. “Love the new hair, Y/N!” One of the young members of Uma’s crew smiled as you sauntered passed.
“It’s a Dizzy Tremaine creation.” You smiled shooting her a wink. You had soon bonded with the rest of the crew with your blooming friendship with the first mate, and you secretly were happy with the new group of friends.
“Looky who it is.” Uma groaned as you arrived on the docks. You rolled your eyes in annoyance and scoffed.
“Hey, Shrimpy.” Harry shot you a warning look as Uma sent you a threatening glare. “You’re lucky I don’t hate you, Hook.” She muttered walking away from the two of you stomping.
“What was that about, Captain?” You questioned laughing at Uma’s unusual passive attitude. “Captain, really? And she’s just…in a mood.” He said waving his hooked hand in dismissal.
“Okay.” You sighed not really believing his excuse. “You’re cute when you’re confused.” Harry smirked as he ran his hook through a lock of your hair. Blushing, you smiled and got closer to his face, feeling his warm breath on your cheeks.
“Well, I—“ “Y/N! Mind helping me with something?” Gil exclaimed as he ran from a group of angry storekeepers.
“Guess he was on one of those unsuccessful theft sprees. I’ll talk to you later, okay?” You assured skipping off to help Gil in his time of need.
Harry nodded, but he couldn’t help the disappointed frown on his face as he watched his longtime crush run away, still not able to call you his.
Two Days Later…
You waltzed into Ursula’s Fish and Chips with Harry by your side as he growled at the incoming patrons, which you found kind of hilarious.
“You know, you don’t have to act like a psycho just because your dad is one.” You chuckled taking his hand and sliding into one of the booths on the other side of the restaurant.
“It’s just part of the image. You would know that better than anyone.” He smirked leaning back and placing a lazy arm around your shoulder.
“How’s your mom?” Harry questioned as he noticed your tense nature. “Still a flaming bitch, but I’m surviving.” You laughed leaning into his warm chest.
“Listen, Y/N. I’ve been wanting to tell you something and—“ Harry started before Evie barged into the semi-crowded restaurant looking distressed. “Y/N! Fashion emergency!” She exclaimed taking your hand and pulling you from Harry roughly.
You internally groaned as she separated you from the teenage pirate. “I’m sorry! Catch up later?” You suggested before Evie pushed you through the swinging doors quickly.
Harry sighed dramatically as he watched you go…yet again. This was going to be harder than he thought.
“E! I was busy, what’s the emergency?” You asked breathlessly as she pulled you halfway across the Isle back to the hangout.
“Red or Blue for the skirt?” She questioned shoving her messy sketchbook in your face almost violently. You studied the design.
It was a mid-length lace skirt that would be paired with a dark blue and black splatter patterned top. “Hmm, red. Just to mix it up a bit.” You decided handing her back the book.
She nodded excitedly and gave you a side hug before rushing off downstairs, probably to show Dizzy her new design.
You shook your head and giggled at the princess’ usual giddiness. You sometimes wished you could be more like Evie, the girly attitude.
Perfect hair, perfect makeup.
But you were just the tough girl, making sure that almost no one got through your rough exterior and see your soft side, because that wouldn’t fly around here, not one bit.
A few hours later…
You began walking down the shore of the beach as suggested by Gil when you ran into him at the marketplace.
He claimed it was a good way to clear your mind after a long day of business and confusion. What you didn’t know was who you would run into whilst on your little journey.
Letting out a small yawn, you didn’t notice a pair of calloused hands cover your eyes quickly. “Listen buddy, I have a dagger in my jacket. I wouldn’t want to mess with me.” You growled and the person chuckled behind you.
“Love to see you try and fight me off darling.” A familiar Scottish voice mumbled into your ear.
You let out a small laugh as Harry uncovered your eyes and now stood in front of you. “How’d you know I’d be here, Hooky?” You asked as he fidgeted nervously with his silver hook
. After knowing Harry for a while, you became accustomed to his habits, and this was one of them. “Had Gil influence you to come here, guess he actually pulled through.” Harry smiled looking up at you.
“I have a surprise, come on.” He said taking your hand and jogging farther down the beach as you struggled to keep up with him.
You began to breathe heavily until he finally came to a stop. “Thank God, thought I was gonna pass out.” You gasped giggling.
He was standing on the side of you as you saw the sight in front of you. In the sand there was a beautiful setup of various sized lanterns, each holding a lit candle on a large, slightly tattered blanket.
There were a few pillows lined up on one side of the blanket and the entire sight made you smile widely.
“Did you do this, for me?” You questioned softly as the dim light allowed you to see the cute blush that splayed over his tan cheeks.
“I did. A girl like you deserves a little attention once in a while.” He admitted plopping down on the sand.
You joined him, laying down so you could clearly see the bright stars that adorned the dark night sky. “I need to say something.” He blurted suddenly. You sent him a quizzical look, but told him to go on.
“Y/N, ever since I’ve met you, I’ve had this funny feeling in my chest and it won’t go away. Every time I see you, my heart flutters and I blush at all the badass things you do. You’re one of the strongest and bravest people I have come to know. I’m falling in love with you.”
He quieted down at the last sentence, but you still heard him loud and clear.
You quickly sat up and faced him, avoiding eye contact. “I get it, you don’t want to ruin our friendship.” He sighed getting up to leave.
You forcefully pulled him back down and moved your face closer to his, slowly but gently.
You leaned forward until you felt your lips connect with his as they moved in a synchronized motion.
Never had you felt like this before, but it felt pretty damn good.
After you pulled apart, you couldn’t wipe the smile off of your face as Harry said, “Nothing to say, huh?”
