birthing hips

And I tried. I tried to be beautiful in a way that caught you off guard. I tried to be smart without having to use a calculator. I tried to be funny without having to think of some stupid joke to say. I tried to be sexually experienced for you. I tried to have all my shit together. I tried to figure what I wanted in life. I tried everything just so you could look at me the way I look at you. I tried to be something that wasn’t me and even when I tried all theses things it still wasn’t enough to make you look at me. It still wasn’t enough to make you want me. It still wasn’t enough to make you love me. Never again will I ever be something other than myself for a guy. Never again will I betray the body I was given. The home that I hated for so many years and treated like shit. Never again will I put a mans needs before me because really men ain’t shit. They do not home a person for 9 months just to go through extraordinary measures to bring that tiny human into the world safely. They do not bleed for a week and have extreme pain just because they aren’t pregnant. Women do not open their hearts and hips and birth a child when it feels like every bone in their body breaking and more just so a man can decide if she’s the one he wants for the week. My point is, do not ever settle for a man that does not see you as magic and more. Women are not ordinary. We did not give birth to civilization just so we could be treated like shit.

What’s In Store For The Get Down Part 2?
The Get Down is set in the South Bronx in New York and revolves around these teens who change the city through their music, dance and…

For Shaolin, all his efforts in Part 2 are about keeping Zeke close to him and keeping The Get Down Brothers together. That’s his life, that’s his whole world, and he will do anything to keep what’s his. Because without Zeke and The Get Down Brothers, he’s all alone. And Shaolin can’t handle that.

[…]And YES, Dizzee isn’t the only character who is gay. Hopefully we’ll get to show that if we’re allowed to continue!

Everybody loves Regina! We love her too. She and Yolanda are definitely present in Part 2 and we learn more about them, but we will have to wait for Season Two to get some more substantial story lines for both of them.

There are characters who never made it into Season One who I would love to bring into Season Two. There is, for example, a charismatic African-American community activist named Kofi Quantay who could play a big role in Season 2. He’s like a Black Jesus, and he would bring more consciousness & street politics into the show. Also, I love all the supporting characters in Season One. I’d like to tell more about Boo Boo and Rah Rah. And Yolanda and Regina. And of course, if The Get Down Brothers continue to rise, there are a million great stories to incorporate that coincide with the birth of Hip Hop.

Fred being a third wheel would include...
  • You and George would be sleeping in the same bed (which Molly forbade you two from doing but what she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt right?)
  • and Fred obviously knowing because you’re all in the same room
  • so if he ever wakes up earlier he would so get into bed with the two of you just to be obnoxious
  • like you and George would be all cuddled up facing each other and then Fred would just climb in
  • George would swear/groan,
  • You would laugh most of the time,
  • and Fred would just act as if this was totally justified
  • He wouldn’t just lie next to you either
  • he would full bear-hug you
  • just to get a reaction out of Fred
  • He wouldn’t usually say anything at first to give the impression that this was definitely a normal thing to do
  • But if the two of you would ignore him, that wouldn’t work either.
  • “Good morning beautiful, you too Y/n”
  • “Wowee, good thing this bed is so small so we can all be closer!”
  • “Hope you two weren’t asleep over here haha that would be pretty shit”
  • George: “actually fuck off”
  • Fred would definitely be thrown out of the bed on every single occasion
  • but since you’d be in the middle then that means that you’d get the force too
  • but also this is an excuse for you to push Fred out and blame it on George
  • George genuinely finds it annoying because you two rarely got any alone time together as it was
  • but you saw it as a fair price to pay since the two boys have been practically joint at the hip since birth
  • plus frustrated Georgie would be hilariously cute
Graffiti, Rap, and Sexual Awakening: An Analysis of Dizzee Kipling

This was a paper written for a course I am taking in gender, sexuality, and media on how a character in television or film’s gender intersects with other identities. I chose Dizzee Kipling because he’s one of my faves from The Get Down and I felt this show does a really great job of exploring intersecting identities anyway. This analysis is about 8 pages in Word so if you read it, I totally love you! I’m really proud of this paper and had so much fun writing it!

So we were playing musical chairs at the camp I work at and this girl hit this other boy so hard with her hip he fell out of the chair and the look on his face was like: 😨😱
So what we learned is to never underestimate females and also: Hips can bring you into this world but they can also take you out.

The Get Down is set in the South Bronx in New York and revolves around these teens who change the city through their music, dance and graffiti. It gained popularity on Tumblr and Twitter after many had pointed out how a show full of diversity and incredible storytelling was being sidelined for shows that did not break the status quo. Many feared last year that due to the ratings not being as high as some of the other Netflix hits such as ‘Stranger Things’ that we wouldn’t get more episodes but that fear was dispelled when we got a trailer for Part 2 last week.

There are nights when I cry myself nosebleed;
when I cry ‘til I shake and then cry til I am still again;
when I am too full of ocean and there is no moon left to push and pull and push and pull it from me so I lay prone as cliff walls and simply leak;
when I am moon -
when I push and pull and push and pull myself through endless hours
and forget the sanctity of shorelines.

Doctor asks me to point to where the pain lives
and I need all the world’s fingers to show him
what I so often fight to conceal from you.

Doctor asks me to point to where the pain lives
and I need only gesture to the all of me.
He laughs.
I do not.

Doctor asks me to point to where the pain lives
 and I show him a picture of my room,
of the streets,
of the chair I am sitting in,
of the table I ate at this morning.
I try to paint it into motion,
show him the pain’s life when no one’s looking,
resort to candids of steaming mirrors,
dripping faucets,
uncleaned sinks,
shower floor.

Doctor asks me to point to where the pain lives
and I laugh at his joke.
He does not get the joke.

Doctor asks me to point to where the pain lives
and I show him burial grounds where birthing hips once breathed new life,
tell him there are dead things in every part of me,
tell him they are not part of me,
tell him I am not dead like them,
tell him the pain does not live here and I will not die here,
tell him the pain does not live,
tell him I am alive, I swear it,
beg him to tell me I am alive even as I pray for an end.

See, this body is no friend,
and even so, it is the dearest of friends.

It is a body of quiet rebellion -

the kind built from dirt and seed and care;
the kind that takes a knee, lifts you a little higher to see above the crowd;
the kind that bows its head but does not step back.

It is a body that speaks too loud
but always with tongue swallowed deep;
that fills quick and easy as breath and still makes room for more than air;
that remembers empty promises and weaves them into blood memory -

It is a body that remembers only in
blood and bone,
ache and tear,
rise and fall,
decay and regrowth.

Doctor asks me to point to where the pain lives
and I lead him to stairwells and alleyways,
graffitied bathrooms of cold tile and dirty water,
sidewalk curbs and highway pullouts.

I lead him to the peripheries of the world,
the places this body exists but does not feel real,
the liminal spaces where this body relearns how to be
and does not always get it right.

I pull him to sit with me,
show him exactly where the pain lives.

(for the record, there was a small child playing harmonica in a corner the entire time I was speaking - hence distraction. she’s a cute child. i love her a lot. but she is very distracting.)

The 102- Part 1: Lockup’s a Bitch

Pairing: Bellamy x reader (eventually)
Characters: the reader, an unnamed guard, mention of the reader’s siblings
Warnings: swearing, a little bit of angst, violence, canon divergence
Summary: This is the first part of a pretty big series where I’m rewriting the first season (and maybe more) of the 100 with a reader insert and a few big twists:) In this part we learn about the reader’s backstory and follow her journey out of her cell and to the drop ship.
A/N: Feedback is always appreciated:) If you want to be a part of my tag list message me or send an ask!

*I don’t own the 100 or any of its characters, this is an adaptation of the CW’s original show. Also, the pictures aren’t mine*

A sliver of the open sky was all you could see from your one roomed cell. The stars, constellations, and distant view of earth had been the only things keeping you company for the past few weeks. Banished to solitary for mouthing off to a guard, you had nothing else to do but stare out the window and await your return to the sky box. You’d taken a screw from the frame of your bed and used it to scratch tallies into the wall, each marking a day you’d been there. Twenty-six scratches and a dull screw later, you were sure they’d forgotten about you- it was probably easier to lock you up and throw away the key anyways.

skye07 replied to your postfirst of all, yes I like that omega tony too, but…

Also, yes, yes to glowing happy pregnant Tony. There has to be a talk here with the 2 handsomes. Because Tony is doing to need a break here. ❤️❤️

Bucky: Okay but he can’t be pregnant all the time.
TWS: He could be. His body was made for it. Good birthing hips.
Bucky: What the fu–No. I’m not even going there. Lemme explain you a thing: We would not SURVIVE if Tony was pregnant all the time.
TWS: ?????
Bucky: Before I realized he was pregnant he threw a wrench at my head while he was having a mood swing. I woke up in medical with seven stitches because it hit me so hard.
TWS: …
Bucky: You should still be able to feel the scar. It’s on the left side.
TWS: *rushes to the mirror*
Bucky: Yeah, right there.
TWS: !!!!!!
Bucky: So he might literally kill us if he’s always pregnant.
TWS: *vaguely terrified but also pleased that their mate is feisty and can protect himself*
