birth pains

yknow what. it’s in the am hours. ive had at least 2 alcoholic beverages tonighit. and i have decided that once im out of tech school im gonna get a degree in ye olde literature just so i can write a groundbreaking paper about how cu chulainn (the actual myth one not the anime one) is a fucking trans icon. my guy is incredibly trans. lets just take a good look at the facts here folks

-these stories were written down by monks with an obviously christian agenda they edited the story to adhere to, in some parts more obviously so than others. considering the roman catholic hatred of trans people at the time, it would not be unreasonable to assume that if cu chulainn was in fact trans in the originals that were being written down said monks would attempt to cover that up by making him cis.

-dude changed his name which is a very trans™ thing 2 do obviously

-the whole thing with the curse and how he was the only one ready to throw the fuck down while all the other men were in bed with the pains of birth like this is such a classic example of using gendered language in magic shenanigans to ur advantage

-often described as being small & beardless “this is supposed to show he’s young” but is it really??? it’s not uncommon for masculine women to be mistaken for young men and him being both notably small and unable to grow a beard is brought up several times in text. either way it’s not like being young and being trans are mutually exclusive. really makes you think.

-alright here’s the big kicker that really says Cu Chulainn Is Trans 2 me in big shiny letters: he had to prove himself as Really Being That Tough over & over again to a frankly ridiculous degree. multiple times (at least 2 in the tain bo cuailnge that i can remember rn) there’s some enemy fuck who knows god damn well the one in front of them is cu mother fucking chulainn who has been absolutely obliterating his enemies by the hundreds but the moment they see him & notice he’s beardless (again, this is usually interpreted as meaning he’s young but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case) they’re like “nah I’m not fighting that get me a real enemy” and cu has to put on a fake beard to convince them he really is A Big Tough Dude Who Can Kick Your Ass. another time in the tain cu used his sick sword skills to make a fool of someone who was mocking him and the fucking idiot didn’t stop even after cu literally shaved the guys head clear & cut off his clothes with a sword. there’s one story (called bricriu’s feast) of a competition where cu easily beat everyone by a wide margin in everything they compete in but none of the other contestants wanted to accept the result so they kept bringing in other judges trying to get someone other than cu to be declared winner.

there’s this really weird refusal of people in the ulster cycle to accept that cu chulainn is as good at things as he is (specifically things considered masculine like fighting) and idk about all yall but that really fucking screams good old fashioned transphobia to me lads. like trans folks are still dealing with this shit in modern day with athletes not being allowed to compete with their own fucking gender bc it ~wouldnt be fair~ or other such nonsense. this fuck shit with ppl absolutely refusing to acknowledge cu as possibly being good at Man Things is incredibly Trans Relatable™.

-ALSO i just remembered this but there’s also at least one and i’m pretty sure more than one time where cu talks to people who are like “yea we’re trying to hunt down cu chulainn” and they don’t realise he is in fact that very same cu chulainn or are even remotely suspicious of him which would make a lot more sense if they mistook him for a woman

in conclusion: hes trans

Pluto Through the Houses of Astrology

Pluto is a generational planet, it takes a long time for it to transition into a different sign, it takes somewhere from 14-30 years, so it doesn’t take part in our daily life. Although, where it’s placed in the houses is far more important than the sign, because that changes by the hour. I will start off by explaining what exactly is Pluto? Well, Pluto is the co-ruler of the sign Scorpio. Now, we all know something about Scorpio ;) (hehehe) There are 5 main themes of Pluto. One is transformation, two is destruction, three is intensity, four is rebirth, and five is obsession. Pluto is also known to be the ruler of the underworld which can be very intimidating and powerful. He’s mentioned in many books, and my favorite mention of Pluto is Inferno by Dante Alighieri, where Plutus is the lord of the 4th Circle for those who are the Miserly or Prodigal, which means people who sinned by trying to control money and fortune were to be in the 4th Circle. As many of you may know, the 8th house rules other people’s money, due to Pluto being the ruler of that house along with Mars. Now that we’ve learned a few things about Pluto, I will explain what it means when it goes through each house!

Pluto in the 1st house: The 1st house is the house of your identity, public persona, first impression, personality, and physical appearance. So when Pluto is placed here, you can be a bit of an intense person because you come off as different from society, you don’t mind hanging in the shadows. Being in the public eye and having everyone know about you can annoy you a little. You change a lot, whether it’s weight, height, style, personality, so on. Each person thinks of you differently because of that. You can have a bit of a dark atmosphere hanging around you, and your eyes are hypnotic, demanding, and very powerful. You can seem a bit power hungry yourself, always trying to be in control. 1st house also represents the story of your birth, and early childhood. Your birth could’ve been painful, intense, and transformative for your mother. In your early childhood, there could’ve been a war in your birthplace, or some sort of deep conflict that later brought enlightenment.

There are times in which we give our love wholly to the wrong person and there are times in which we give no love to the right person. And there are instances in which we give our love wholly to the right person but there was no time for love to foster. And, in those instances, lessons are birthed. Lessons that are painful but ones that a person must endure. To me, you were that instance. You were that painful lesson.

Transition feels like giving birth to yourself.

Transition feels like giving birth to yourself.

It’s painful. Sometimes it feels like it will never end. There’s occasionally blood, often screaming, often tears. But at the end, you take that first deep breath and feel yourself filling with life, electricity rippling through you.

Y'know…

I never hated her. I only hated how she felt. She was beautiful. I loved her enough to see that she couldn’t keep doing this. I loved her enough to recognize her suffering and release her. She created me; without her, I wouldn’t exist.

Not many people get to say they were awake and present at their own conception.

We’re lucky that way.

I dreamt that I was giving birth. I felt no pain, but saw the emerging head as though I stood between my own thighs, midwife and mother both together. I took the naked child in my arms, still smeared with the blood that came from both of us, and gave her to her father. I gave her to Frank, but it was Jamie who took the caul from her face and said, “She’s beautiful.”

Day 215: Tincturing Workshop

I’m leading a tincturing workshop this Sunday, so I thought it might be nice to share the packet I’m going to be handing out. It includes some tips on alcohol and vinegar tincturing, as well as recipes and some local Ozark yarbs to work into your herbal preparations. Enjoy!

Alcohol Tinctures

Fresh Herb:

  • Finely chop or grind clean herb to release juice and expose surface area.
  • Fill jar 2/3 to ¾ with herb. ~ OR ~ Fill jar ¼ to ½ with roots.
  • Pour alcohol over the herbs.
  • Jar should appear full of herb, but herb should move freely when shaken.

Dried Herb:

  • Use finely cut herbal material.
  • Fill jar ½ to ¾ with herb ~ OR ~ Fill jar ¼ to 1/3 with roots.
  • Pour alcohol over the herbs.
  • Roots will expand by ½ their size when reconstituted!

Alcohol Percentages*

40% – 50% (80-90 proof vodka)

  • “Standard” percentage range for tinctures.
  • Good for most dried herbs and fresh herbs that are not juicy.
  • Good for extraction of water soluble properties.

67.5% – 70% (½ 80 proof vodka + ½ 190 proof grain alcohol)

  • Extracts most volatile aromatic properties.
  • Good for fresh high-moisture herbs like lemon balm, berries, and aromatic roots.
  • The higher alcohol percentage will draw out more of the plant juices.

85% – 95% (190 proof grain alcohol)

  • Good for gums and resins.
  • Extracts aromatics and essential oils that are bound in the plant and do not dissipate easily.
  • The alcohol strength can produce a tincture that is not quite pleasant to take.
  • Often used for drop dosage medicines.
  • Will totally dehydrate herbs.

*information comes from the Mountain Rose Herbs blog

Macerating

  • Maceration is the process by which the active chemical compounds are leached into the solvent solution. This is usually done by shaking the jar that contains the alcohol or vinegar and the herbal plant matter.
  • Alcohol tinctures need to be left to macerate for at least 2-3 weeks depending upon the ABV. The higher the ABV the less maceration time is needed.
  • Vinegar tinctures need to be left to macerate for at least a month before straining and bottling.

Beginners Ozark Medicinal Plants

Caution should always be taken when looking for medicinal plants out in the wild. Do not consume or use any plant that you are unsure about. The internet is a wonderful resource for plant identification. Look up photos and identification information for plants from reputable sources before collecting any plant out in the wild. NOTE also that many Ozark medicinal plants are endangered and should not be harvested out in the wild.

When wild-harvesting take only what you need at that time. DO NOT STOCKPILE! Chances are the plants will go bad before you can use them. A good rule of thumb for any plant is to count three plants then take one, that way there are plants left behind to go to seed. Leave the roots intact unless the root is being harvested, then try and leave a piece of the root or any seeds/berries behind in the soil.

Responsible harvesting means these medicinal plants will be around for many more generations.

I’m not including photos of plants on purpose! I want folks to go look up the plants and find as many identifying photos and identifying information as they can. Do the work! Google is an amazing resource for plant identification.

+ means the plant is not native but is common in the Ozarks

As much as I love Jaal being confused by human anatomy the Angara are still mammals. So the theory that he doesn’t know what boobs are seems silly to me.

We haven’t seen a lady Angara naked but who says mammary glands have to be in the chest area? Maybe females have theirs below that collar bone for days. Or since its common for Angaran to be born in multiples then maybe they have them like cats or dogs and they fall flush when they aren’t producing milk. Which would lead to another aspect of boob confusion such as why Sara’s are still so prominent. Or if you’re into it, why Scott has nips at all if they don’t function.

I also love the idea of Jaal being fascinated by toes. Angaran toes could still serve a climbing and gripping purpose like Turian and Quarian toes. Hell even the Krogan have grippy feet, but humans are so flat with these multiple tiny toes I can see Jaal teasing Ryder about how useless their toes seem. Then he finds out humans are built for running instead of climbing and Ryder shows him Olympic events on Earth. Jaal is just so thrilled by the comradery and competition it moves him; that despite differences or unrest happening around Earth everyone can unite on an even playing field and enjoy something as an entire species.

Everything devolves into deep feeling and awe with Jaal. He could be examining Ryder’s ears and be amazed by the intricacy and fragility of the bones within such a clumsy looking structure. He traces Ryder’s palm and finds out that humans way back when would read the lines on someone’s palm and supposedly read their future. Then he wants Ryder to read his palm or teach him to read theirs. Wide hips confuse him since even female Angarans have thin waists and hips and he finds out how strange and painful birth is for humans. Well then he’s a worried mess for Sara and conflicted between wanting a large family like his own and not wanting to hurt her.

I love thinking about Jaal. VwV

To Those Feeling Drained

Many souls are feeling drained emotionally, physically, spiritually and energetically, due to the current social and political climate.
This energy transference happens via heart, mind, spirit and direct contact.
The great news is that you are feeling!
You are empathetic to the world of hurting souls around you. You are not closing yourself—or your gifts, off to the world in its time of need.
Times like these are why we do the work. A mass awakening is happening, as it must. A sacred fire has been started.
Chaos comes before order. Pain before birth. We are experiencing an energetic detox on a mass scale. Human parasites who mean us no good, are being revealed daily.
These times evoke a change in the course of history, every great period has had one; this is ours.
So, how do we feel, connect, share our gifts, light and works with the world in this current state without becoming drained in the process?
We vibrate higher daily. That simple.
There are endless modalities for vibrating higher. You may already have your favorite routine in practice; if so, keep up the great work. If not, may you be inspired and fired up to begin yours.
No mistake about it, this country is at war—with itself, an energetic war, a moral war, a vibrational war, and an ethical war.
In the human body, this is known as disease; at war with itself.
How to cure and overcome dis-ease? We cure and overcome dis-ease by creating a suitable environment for healing and renewal to take place. Through vibrating higher daily in our food choices, physical fitness, stress control, routines, thoughts and overall mindset and lifestyle—healing, restoration, and renewal organically take place.
To sum it up…..
do more of what makes your mind, heart, and body come alive, restore and come back to center…..and do less of what does not.
The world and your life work need you strengthened and vibrating higher now, more than ever. So feel, connect, show love, have compassion and be a light to the world.
Just be mindful to vibrate higher through self-care. Recharge, release, restore, renew, nourish, and find your heart, mind and soul’s balance.
Vibrating higher daily is your protection.

So I just remembered something.

I saw a photo of the JTHM trade paperback just recently and noticed the rusty, red splotches in the Z? logo. That’s blood, you see? MY ACTUAL BLOOD. It was a thing I vaguely recall advertising way back when this was a new book and EVERY cover for every popular comic HAD to have blood in it. It was hardcore as fuck because it was like putting a bit of myself into this thing I was doing, like the creation of this book was a violent act of creation, right, a troubled, painful birth!

So here’s what I just remembered: While working on the cover, I got a nosebleed as a result of using too much nasal decongestant spray and decided to just use it on the cover.

FUCKING HARDCORE ALLERGIES.

  • The High Priestess of Aku having undergone a painful birthing of seven children and spending at least 20 years abusing and torturing them into the great assassins: Lord Aku, I've plunged the depths of my evil soul to give birth to the means of killing the samurai!
  • Aku who spends his time moping in bed, putting his eyebrows on like contacts and having therapy with himself: What is "give birth?"

A/N: This could link to one of the other reader inserts ‘The Baby Is Coming’ but you don’t have to read that to understand this. I hope I haven’t made Mycroft or Sherlock to OOC. Enjoy! xxx

Exhausted was an understatement. You knew that childbirth was very painful and tiring but nothing could have prepared you for that. However, the long nine months and incredibly painful birth was all worth it as your little boy was born. Sherlock was stood by the window nursing the babe. He’d insisted that you slept but you wanted to stay awake because the Holmes parents, now grandparents, were on their way. You assumed that Mycroft would probably stay at the Holmes residence but you didn’t know whether he’d be forced to pay a visit to the hospital. Sherlock was tense. You could tell he didn’t want Mycroft to come but you did. You wanted a close family and although Mycroft was a fairly distant and an unsociable person, he was the uncle of your child and you wanted him to be involved.

“Yes mother,” A voice said from the other side of the door. The voice belonged to Mycroft Holmes. “The nurse said that they were in here.” The door opened slowly and in came Mycroft and his parents.

“Congratulations!” Mrs Holmes exclaimed and came over to your bedside. She kissed your cheek and then rushed over to Sherlock and kissed him. Mr Holmes gave his congratulations whereas Mycroft stayed in the doorway.

“Have you decided on a name?” Mycroft asked.

“Arthur Hamish William Holmes,” You replied with a smile.

“My little Arthur,” Mrs Holmes said happily as she took the boy from Sherlock. “I say that we’re too young to be grandparents."

"I for one accept my age,” Her husband replied but she just chuckled. After holding Arthur for quite a while, she finally passed your son over to grandfather Holmes.

“Finally a grandchild,” He said. “We knew Mycroft would never have children and we finally gave up hope with Sherlock. Then he met you, Y/N. You both produced a lovely little baby boy. My grandson.” He was full of pride.

“Would you like a hold?” You asked Mycroft.

Sherlock was about to object but his brother did first. “No thank you,” He said. “Babies are not really my forte and I have a good view from here.”

“No I insist.”

“I don’t-”

“Mycroft Holmes, you will take the baby, hold the baby, and enjoy it.” You got out of bed and you took Arthur from Mr Holmes. You then passed him to the child’s uncle. Mycroft was terrified. He was almost shaking. Mycroft was in charge of the whole country (practically) but that was no problem and he was as cool as a cucumber. Give him a child and he will panic.

“I think we should all, with the exception of Mycroft and Y/N, get some coffee,” Mrs Holmes said. “No objections!" They all got up and left. There was no arguing with Mrs Holmes.

Mycroft watched helplessly as you fell asleep. He had hoped to hand Arthur back you but tiredness had took over you. He couldn’t give him to anyone else either. He was stuck. He walked over to the window, which was where Sherlock had stood earlier. Mycroft looked down at the boy. Arthur’s eyes were wide open and he was looking up at his uncle. Mycroft’s expression softened. He began to realise how important this child was to him. He was trusted with little Arthur and he would do anything to protect him. Mycroft was the one who taught Sherlock to not care however the 'iceman’ himself was now making exceptions.

Sherlock entered the room. He saw you asleep in the bed and then saw his older brother looking down at Arthur with admiration in his eyes.

"I may appear harsh,” Mycroft stated. “However, I promise that I will do everything in my power to keep Arthur, you, and Y/N safe.”

“Were you not doing that already?”

“Yes but that was out of 'brotherly compassion.’ Now it is out of… Out of… Love.” Love was a hard word for Mycroft to get out but he did it all the same.

Sherlock chuckled. “I’m flattered.”

“I’m serious.”

“I’m the father. Am I not able to keep my wife and child safe?”

“Yes but what happens when it comes to cases? When you’re getting into other people’s business and you put yourself and them in danger? Or when you’re bored so you get high? Who will be there to pick up the pieces? This isn’t a game, Sherlock! These are people’s lives!”

“I’m a changed man now.”

“I’m trying to help, Sherlock!”

He sighed. “Then thank you. Also, Y/N would like you to be godfather as well as John.”

“Just Y/N?”

“Fine! I guess I think you’d be fit too…”

“Then I am honoured.”

How about where the boy starts showing symptoms of pregnancy, goes to the doctor, is diagnosed with phantom pregnancy, grows steadily, has regular checkups. The doctor is surprised at how consistent the growth is. Does an ultrasound, nothing is there, but he feels movement. The doctor says it's psychosomatic. But then one day he does into labor, his belly twitching and jerking. He gives painful birth to a massive gelatinous organism that didn't show up on ultrasound because it's liquid.

You watched Seth walk away. His hands rubbed his face as he walked away. You couldn’t blame his reaction, it was a lot to take in, the fact that he has a son. This was how you expected him to react. “He won’t do anything stupid will he?” she asked

“I don’t think so” You shrugged. The four of you made your way back to the locker room. This really wasn’t how you wanted Seth to find out. You wanted to plan it out and have it be on your terms.

“On the plus side your return was great” Mike said trying to lighten the mood

“It did feel great to be out there again” You grinned as you packed up all of your son’s toys. “I’m gonna head out now”

“I’ll come with you, I’m not needed anymore” Maryse said as you went to place the blanket over the baby carrier

“I guess I don’t need to hide him anymore” you sighed. You and Maryse headed back to the hotel. You got some weird looks when everyone backstage saw you with a baby. Once back at the hotel you and Maryse ordered room service and watched the rest of the show together.

You groaned as you heard a knock at your hotel room door. You glanced at the clock and saw that it was 3 am That made you groan again knowing y/s/n would be up again in a couple of hours. There was another knock, this time a bit louder. You got up quickly to answer the door. You really didn’t need y/s/n waking up.

“Seth” you were shocked to see him standing there

“I haven’t been drinking I promise” he said. You couldn’t help but laugh. Before you started dating Seth showed up to your drunk with a very angry Cesero who had been dealing with drunk Seth all night.

“That’s good to know” you smiled. After a beat of silence you looked down “I’m guessing you have a lot of questions”

“Yeah” he ran his hand through his hair “quite a few actually”

“Come in” You said opening the door further. You took a deep breath and accepted the fact that you weren’t getting anymore sleep tonight. You closed the door behind Seth and quickly made your way around the room to pick up all the mess. “Sorry it’s so messy”

“I guess life would be messy with a baby” Seth mumbled.

“So what do you want to know? I’ll answer anything honestly”

“Anything? 100% honesty?”

“100% Seth” you nodded, you saw him take a deep breath and you rolled your eyes “If you are seriously going to ask me if he is yours I will slap you”

“Why is that so bad for me to ask?”

“If i recall Seth I was the one who was loyal in our relationship. You cheated not me”

“I know. I’m sorry” he sighed and sat on the couch “When did you find out?”

“The day before I found out about you. Two days before you came home from that overseas tour.  I hurt my knee remember? Had to go to hospital found out I was 9 weeks long”

“9 weeks?!” He exclaimed

“Yeah. I have no idea how I didn’t know. The doctor said stress and busy schedules mean some woman do realise for a while” You shrugged

“How was the pregnancy and birth?” Seth asked

“It was okay. Morning sickness but that was all normal. The birth…it was a good birth, just painful. He was a little smaller than normal. 18 inches 5 and a half pounds”

“Is that bad? Was that bad?” Seth asked. You could see the panic in his eyes. You smiled and placed a hand Seth’s shoulder.

“He was at the bottom of the average range but still in the range” You said. Seth’s shoulders dropped as he breathed a sigh of relief.

“Were you alone?”

“No. Mum couldn’t make it out from y/h/t but Renee and Maryse came out to Florida” you smiled “They’ve been amazing not only the past 6 months but my whole pregnancy. They were there for me”

“I would have been there” Seth said looking you straight in the eye “If you had told me, I would have been there….why didn’t you tell me?”

“I was mad” you said fiddling with your fingers. This was going to be the first time the two of you talked about this. Back when it happened you were mad and upset. You ignored his calls and texts and since you were injured and he was still on the road, it was very easy to move on. Well, it wasn’t easy, actually it was the hardest thing you’ve gone through but it was easy to stay away from Seth. “I was mad and upset. My world was falling around me. I felt betrayed”

“I know and I’m so sorry I-”

“So my anger made me not want to tell you and then after I thought maybe you wouldn’t want him and then I just kept talking myself out of telling you”

“How many people knew about him? That you were pregnant?”

“Renee, Dean, Maryse and Mike plus Carrano, Steph and Vince. Probably Hunter too” You said

“I just don’t get why you didn’t tell me?! You knew how sorry I was! I told you I still loved you!” He exclaimed

“Lower your voice” you hissed “I don’t need y/s/n waking up any earlier than he normally would. Seth, I was hurt. You hurt me and he…he was mine, my little boy and I couldn’t let him get hurt so I kept him from you…Dean said I should but I just couldn’t”

“You thought I would hurt him?”

“I don’t know!” you exclaimed, “I don’t know!”

“Lower your voice…you don’t need y/s/n waking up” Seth whispered.

“Do you want to see him?” You asked looking up at Seth

“See him?”

“I mean he’s asleep now, it’s when he’s most peaceful”

“Uh…yeah if I can” He nodded. You smiled and took his hand and pulled him into the bedroom. y/s/n laid peacefully, sucking on his pacifier with one leg outside of the blanket. You looked up at Seth. He was taken by your son, his son. In the darkness of the room you swear you saw some tears in his eyes.

“He sleeps like you” Seth whispered

“He has your eyes” you said “overachiever like you too. He rolled over fast than normal, he’s trying to crawl now”

“That’s my little boy” Seth grinned “I want to be a part of his life”

“Seth-”

“y/n please. This is what I want. I want him”

“Small steps Seth, baby steps”

“But I can be?”

“Yeah…sure” you nodded

“Thank you y/n. I won’t let you done. I promise” he smiled rubbing a finger along y/s/n’s cheek.

BTS & GOT7 Reaction: When their S/O giving birth and finding out that she’s having twins

OMG THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE DON A LONG TIME AGO!! I’m sooooo sorry this took so long! IDK why doing this reaction took forever, but I finally manage to do it! Thank you patient Nonnie! I’m sorry if this fully didn’t match your prompt. I was a bit clueless as to what dialogue they should have since I’m pretty sure that most of it would be S/O screaming her head off as a second baby was coming out of her.

Hi! Can I ask for a got7 & bts reaction being with their S/o during labor and meeting their first child although it happens to be twins and they didn’t expected that since doctors have missed it
